EMMA JEAN COLE Emma Jean Cole, age 63, 2140 West G. Street, lot 28, Elizabethton, died Saturday, March 14, 2004, at her residence, following an extended illness. A native of Carter County, she was the daughter of Mildred Grace McKeehan, Elizabethton and the late Ont Humphreys. Mrs. Cole was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith. Survivors in addition to her mother are her husband, Doran Cole, of the home; one son, Tracey A. Morris, Elizabethton; two daughters: Wendy C. Morris and Rona L. Arrington, both of Elizabethton; four grandchildren: Amber N. Morris, Dustin Arrington, Samantha Arrington and T.J. Morris, all of Elizabethton; four sisters: Frances Buck, Johnson City, Pauline Smith, Virginia Nidiffer and Brenda Humphreys, all of Elizabethton; four brothers: Paul Humphreys and Charles Humphreys, both of Elizabethton; Jack Humphreys and Mike Carver, both of Johnson City; numerous nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral service will be conducted at 8:00 P.M., Monday, March 15th in the Chapel of Peace of Tetrick Funeral Home, with Rev. Steve Burleson officiating. Music will be under the direction of Rick Sheets. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., Monday, prior to the service or at the residence at anytime. Graveside service and interment will be at 11:00 A.M. - Tuesday, in Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be David Nidiffer, Steve Nidiffer, Roy James Nidiffer, Mitchell Nidiffer, Randy Buck and Andy Dugger. Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Colbaugh, Anthony Buck, Eric Buck and Anthony Hurley. Those planning to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:15 Tuesday, to go in procession to the cemetery. ONNIE MAE ESTEP RICHARDSON Onnie Mae Estep Richardson, age 81, Pine Ridge Care Center, Elizabethotn, formerly of Dry Branch Road, Elizabethton, died Tuesday, January 20, 2004 at Sycamore Shoals Hospital following an extended illness. A native of Carter County, she was the daughter of the late Sam and Liza Richardson Estep. She was of the baptist faith and a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Orville Richardson, two sisters, Iva Dean Rutter, Veda Crosswhite and three brothers, Earl Estep, Albert Estep, and Authur Estep. Survivors include one daughter Tammy Richardson Hughes, Elizabethton, one granddaughter, Nikki Hughes, Elizabethton, one great grandson, Dominque Story-Hughes, Elizabethton, one sister, Leone Grindstaff, Lenoir City, TN, one brother, Carson Estep, Johnson City, several nieces and nephews also survive. The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 22, 2004 at Tetrick Funeral Home Chapel of Peace with Rev. Richard Estep and Rev. James Richardson officiating. Interment will follow at Richardson Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be selected from nephews and close friends. JACK M. HILL Jack M. Hill, age 67, 503 Watauga Avenue, Johnson City, who has gone to be with his daddy, died Saturday, January 17, 2004, in Ivy Hall Nursing Home, following an extended illness. A native of Carter County, he was the son of Alpha Hilmon Tipton, Roan Mountain and the late Thomas Hill. He was preceded in death by a brother, Ronald Hill and a sister, Carmie Johnson. Mr. Hill was of the Baptist faith. Survivors in addition to his mother, are a sone, Tom Hill, Johnson City; a granddaughter, Tiffani Hill, Gray, TN; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral service for Mr. Hill will be at 2:00 P.M., Monday, January 19, 2004, in the Chapel of Peace of Tetrick Funeral Home with Rev. Raymond Davis officiating. Interment will follow in Hilmon Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Honorary pallbear will be Phil Shull. Patricia Gale Russell McQueen Patricia Gale Russell McQueen, age 58, went home to be with the Lord, Sunday, March 7, 2004, in Sycamore Shoals Hospital, following a brief illness. A native of Carter County, she was the daughter of the late Shoun and Florence Odom Stevens. She was a member of Sunset Free Will Baptist Church and a former employee of J & W Window Company. She was a 1963 graduate of Hampton High School. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Richard Russell, a brother Gerald Stevens, and two grandsons, Daniel Cox and Seth Cox. Mrs. McQueen was a loving wife, caring mother, tender grandmother and a dear friend to all who knew her. God’s wonderful love and mercy kept her from having any pain. The heavens are celebrating and rejoicing with this faithful servant. She was a dedicated and loving person that space cannot allow to name each person who has been a part of her life. When you think of Gale, don’t think of her being sick. Visualize her brand new body, running, talking and holding babies, enjoying the golden streets of heaven. Her wishes and desires were to celebrate her life and for everyone to reunite with her in heaven. We all love and miss her dearly. Survivors include her husband, Kyle McQueen, of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law: Angela and Jeff Odom and Lenora and Danny Cox, all of Hampton; three sisters: Joyce Snead, Elizabethton, Flo Hughes, Hampton and Delores Taylor, Kingsport; two brothers: Les Stevens, Gray and Verlin Stevens, Hampton; two grandchildren: Scott Odom and Vanessa Cox, both of Hampton; several nieces and nephews also survive. Celebration of Life service will be conducted at 8:00 P.M. - Tuesday, March 9th in the Chapel of Peace of Tetrick Funeral Home with Rev. Gary Whitehead officiating. He was preceded in death by an aunt, Barbara Blackwell and a maternal great-grandmother, Marie Reece. Survivors in addition to the parents are the Paternal Grandparents: Mary J. Smith, Bluff City and Junior Smith, Elizabethton; Maternal Grandparents: Lisa Anne and Eddie Tripp, of Elizabethton; Maternal great-grandfather: Bobby Gene Reece, Elizabethton; Paternal great-grandmother: Jean Smith, Bluff City; three Uncles: Nathan Gene Holtsclaw and Harold Smith, both of Elizabethton and Bobby Alan Smith, Bluff City; a special friend, Sara Vanhoy, Bristol; Several Cousins, great aunts and uncles also survive. NANNIE ELIZABETH RICHARDSON Nannie Elizabeth Richardson, age 86, Pine Ridge Health Care Center of Elizabethton died Wednesday, January 14, 2004, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital. She was a native of Johnson County, and the daughter of the late Mr and Mrs. Wiley McFadden. She was a member of Eastside Free Will Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Delaney Richardson, one son, Roy Roger Richardson, one infant son, Lewis Gary Richardson. Survivors include three sons, Wiley Frank Richardson, Sammy Richardson, Loyd Bruce Richardson, all of Elizabethton, five daughters and one son-in-law, Anna Lee and Stevie Phillips, Catherine Richardson, Barbara Sue Richardson, Susan Richardson, all of Elizabethton, Patsy Charlotte Madrey, Roan Mountain, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews also survive. The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 17, 2004 at Tetrick Funeral Home Elizabethton with Rev. Ricky Jones, Rev. Howard Messer and Mr. Robert Phillips officiating. HAZEL M. RICHARDS Hazel M. Richards, 1609 Burgie Street, Elizabethton died Monday, January 19, 2004 at Johnson City Medical Center Hospital following a brief illness. A native of Johnson County, she was the daughter of the late, S.J. and Virgie Copley Myers. She was a member Immanuel Baptist Church. She was a retired employee of Hermitage Nursing Home. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Richards, 1967, three brothers, Haskel Myers, Hunter Myers, Chester Myers, and two sisters, Elsie Meadows and Flossie Tester. Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Ralph and Pat Richards, Jonesborough, two gandchildren, David Richards, Poctatello, ID, Deborah Richards Bailey, Jonesborough, six great grandchildren, Daniel Richards, Kaitlyn Richards, Jordan Richards, Bryon Richards, all of Poctatello, ID, Kelsey Bailey, T.J. Bailey, both of Jonesborough, four nieces, Martina Barnes, Gray, Helen Hipp, Orlando, FL, Hazel Long, Orlando, FL, Eula Mae Younce, Elizabethton, two nephews, Kenneth Myers, Jonesborough, S.J. A native of Carter County, she was the daughter of the late J.B. and Lucy Hopson Lyons. She was a missionary Baptist faith and a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, George M. Baker, daughter, Martha Cron and son, James Potter. Survivors include two daughters and one son-in-law, Ethel Carmack, Roan Mountain, Louise and George Day, Waxhaw, NC, one son and daughter-in-law, Dale and Judy Potter, Crossnore, NC, two sisters, Anona Knaack, Roan Mountain, Hattie Marie Harper, Wilmington, DE, seven grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews also survive. Danny Gene Johnson Danny Gene Johnson, age 42, Roan Mountain, died Sunday, March 7, 2004, in the Johnson City Medical Center Hospital, following a brief illness. A native of Carter County, he was the son of Barbara Campbell, Roan Mountain and the late Bobby Johnson. Mr. Johnson was a carpenter and was active in Teampenning. Survivors in addition to his mother are his wife, Marsha Johnson, of the home; one son, Dustin Johnson, of the home; two daughters: Ashley Johnson, of the home and Crystal Johnson, Mesa Arizona; one brother, Robert Johnson, Roan Mountain; one sister, Billie Oliver, Elizabethton; three special friends: Kevin Bryant, Danny Hughes and Bobby Waddell. A native of Carter County, she was the daughter of the late George Pettiebone and Susan Ann Estep Livingston. She was preceded in death by a son, James Shoun, four brothers, four sisters and three nephews. Survivors include her husband, Crucie Richardson, of the home, two sisters, Blannie Carden, Nancy Carolyn Madden, both of Elizabethton, three grandchildren, Jamie Shoun, Sharon Boyd, Larry Boyd, all of North Carolina and three great grandchildren Several nieces and nephews, several great nieces and great nephews also survive. A native of Carter County, he is the son of Brenda Mayse Garland, Hampton and the late Charles Edward Mayse. He was of the Baptist Faith. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Gurney Markland, paternal grandfather, Hubert Mayse, two uncles, Billy Markland, David Mayse, one cousin, Robert Mayse.
