Estelle Grider Hutchins

76 year old Estelle Grider Hutchins of Smithville died Saturday at DeKalb Community Hospital. She was a retired factory worker and attended the First Baptist Church. The funeral will be Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Virgil Hibdon, Jr. will officiate and burial will be in Whorton Springs Cemetery. She was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Nancy Thomas Grider; two sons, Phillip and Patrick Hutchins; and two brothers, Everette and Lilbern Grider. Survivors include two daughters, Paula and her husband Bobby Pinegar of Smithville and Pam Davenport of Smithville. Two sons, Paul and his wife Treva Hutchins of McMinnville and Perry Hutchins of Kentucky. Nine grandchildren, Sandy and her husband Darrell Knowles of Smithville, B.J. Pinegar of Smithville, Tony and his wife Shellie Davenport of Kentucky, John Davenport of Smithville, Alon and his wife Cristy Hutchins of McMinnville, Alicia and her husband Robert Garza of McMinnville, Amy Hutchins of California, Angela Hutchins of Nashville, and Dustin Hutchins of Smithville. Six great grandchildren, Breanna and Britney Knowles of Smithville, Cameron and Ty Davenport of Kentucky, and Kolton and Haylee Hutchins of McMinnville. Four brothers, Dillard Grider of Cookeville, Howard Grider of Cookeville, Virgil Grider of Cookeville, and Clarence and his wife Linda Grider of Cookeville. One sister, Billie Palk of Cookeville. Two sisters-in-law, Juanita Dunn and Mary Grider of Cookeville and Alberta Davis of Florida. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will be Monday from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m.; and Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m.

Larry Eugene Washer

59 year old Larry Eugene Washer of Lower Helton Road, Alexandria died Thursday at his residence. The body is at the Gordonsville Chapel of Bass Funeral Home where the service will be held Sunday at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be in the Brush Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Gordonsville Chapel on Saturday from noon until 8:00 p.m. and Sunday from noon until the time of the service at 2:00 p.m. Washer is survived by his wife, Cindy Skinner Washer of Alexandria. Children, Julie Ann Radar and her husband Bruce of Sykes; Lydia Michelle Foote and her husband James of Sykes; and Alicia Dawn Washer of Alexandria. Grandchildren, Gabriel Lee Radar, Elaina Ruby Foote, and Aidan James Foote. A brother and sister-in-law, Bernie and Carol Washer of Alexandria. Julie Ann Radar's mother, Mary Ann Rose of Sykes. Memorials may be made to Alive Hospice of Murfreesboro. The Gordonsville Chapel of Bass Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Robert Stanton Robinson

86 year old Robert Stanton Robinson of Alexandria died Wednesday at DeKalb Community Hospital. The funeral will be Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria. Jason Lohorn and James Daniel will officiate. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Friday from 1:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Burial will be Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at Sango cemetery in Clarksville. Robinson was a member and deacon of the Upper Helton Baptist Church of Alexandria. He was also a 1940 graduate of Liberty High School; worked for North American Aviation in Los Angeles, California from 1940 until 1942; and he joined the U.S. Army Air Force in 1942 and was discharged from active duty in 1946 as a Master Sergeant. Robinson was also a retired jewelry and a farmer. He was preceded in death by his parents, Baxter Overall and Martha Virginia Roberts Robinson; brothers, Kline, Thurman, Burnard, and Dib Robinson; sisters, Clara Dale Gaither, Willie Mai Williams, and Ruby Robinson; and a son, Larry Neal Robinson. In addition to his wife of 60 years Bernice Neal Robinson, he is survived by a daughter, Peggy Robnson Moore and daughter-in-law, Rhonda Morrison Robinson of Clarksville; grandchildren, Michael and his wife Cheri Moore of Chesapeake, Virginia, James Moore, Wade Robinson, Jerry and his wife Cynthia Robinson, and Wendy Robinson of Clarksville. Great grandchildren, Rachel Moore, Robert Stanton Moore, and Juliana Moore of Chesapeake, Virginia and Diego and Rocky Robinson of Clarksville. Step great granddaughters, Melanie and Mechelle Scott of Clarksville. Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria is in charge of the arrangements.

Dorothy Mae Maple

68 year old Dorothy Mae Maple of Walling died Sunday, April 6, 2008 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. She was a homemaker and a Pentecostal. She was preceded in death by her parents, Daniel and Annie Baker Collier; her husband, Richard Maple; and a sister, Annie Jeal Saylors. A graveside service will be held Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. at Mt. Holly Cemetery. Chris Stanley will officiate. Visitation will be held at Love-Cantrell Funeral Home, Monday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., and Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the graveside service at 1:00 p.m. Survivors include a daughter, Carolyn Mick of Walling. One son, Terrance Messer of Georgia. Five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren also survive, along with one sister, Martha James of Waynesboro. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Jean Sain Barry

87 year old Jean Sain Barry of Smithville died Wednesday, March 12, 2008 at DeKalb Community Hospital. She was a retired teacher at the L.B.J.&C. Head Start Center and a member of the Smithville First United Methodist Church. The funeral will be held Friday at 1:00 p.m. at the Smithville First United Methodist Church. John Perdue will officiate and burial will follow in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held Thursday from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., and Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 1:00 p.m. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bernard and Sarah Tramel Summers; two husbands, Brown Sain and Wilson Barry; and two brothers, P.E. Summers and Dean Summers. Survivors include a brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Audrey Summers of Smithville. One sister, Janie Watson of McMinnville. Two nieces, Sallie and her husband Gregory Lewis of Brentwood, and Malia Famulski of Illinois. Two nephews, Larry and his wife Mary Nell Summers of Smithville, and Darryl and his wife Tracy Watson of McMinnville. Several great nieces and nephews also survive. The family is asking in lieu of flowers, donations please be made to the Smithville First United Methodist Church building fund. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Jackie Lowe Davis

58 year old Jackie Lowe Davis of Smithville died Friday, July 25, 2008 at his residence. He was a construction worker with Jones Brothers Construction and a member of the Mount Herman Baptist Church. The funeral will be Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. David Carden and Jonathon Willoughby will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Sunday from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter Lee and Carrie Morgan Davis; two brothers, Willie Lee and Bobby Lester Davis; and a sister, Earlene Carslon. Survivors include his wife, Linda Vanatta Davis of Smithville. A daughter, JoAnn and her husband James Estes of Smithville. A son, Bobby and his wife Patty Davis of Lebanon. Three grandchildren, Austin, Lacie, and B.J. Davis all of Lebanon. Two brothers, Ray and Neal Davis of Mount Juliet and two sisters, Betty Kilby of Lebanon and Robbie and Charles Webber of Mount Juliet. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Kenneth Ray Herman

58 year old Kenneth Ray Herman of McMinnville died Saturday at River Park Hospital of an extended illness. He was a member of the Smartt Station Church of God, a Vietnam veteran, and a nursery worker. The funeral will be Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. at the Chapel of High Funeral Home in McMinnville. Johnny Carr will officiate and burial will be in Smyrna cemetery in Warren County. Military Grave Rites will be held by the American Legion Post #183 and and the V.F.W. Post #5064. Visitation will be Monday from noon until 9:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. He was preceded in death by his parents, John B. Herman and Daisy Herman; a daughter, Julie Herman; a granddaughter, Megan Henson; sisters, Carol Ann Herman and Mary Frances Turner; a brother and sister-in-law, Bobby and Billye Herman; and brother-in-law, Jerry Reeder. Survivors include a daughter, Lesa Wilson of McMinnville. Two brothers and sister-in-law, Jack and Brenda Herman of Smithville and John E. Herman of Christiana. Two sisters and brother-in-law, Kathy Reeder of Ringgold, Georgia and Anita and Tony Martin of Smithville. Sister-in-law, Marilin Herman of McMinnville. A brother-in-law, Paul Turner of McMinnville. Special grandson, Jay Martin of McMinnville. Special friend, Jerri Mason of McMinnville. Special nephew, John Turner of McMinnville. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Dennis Calvin Tramel

87 year old Dennis Calvin Tramel of Smithville died Monday at NHC Healthcare Center. He was a Baptist, Mason, and a US Army Veteran in the Korean Conflict. Tramel was also a Freewill Baptist Minister and he was retired from Southeastern Brake & Clutch Company. The funeral will be Thursday at 1:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Paul Tramel will officiate and burial will be in Whorton Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from noon until 8 p.m. and Thursday from 10 a.m. until the service at 1 p.m. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dennis and Julie Ann Arnold Tramel; his wife, Oma Taylor Tramel; seven sisters, Nancy Nokes, Beatrice Bryant, Velma Reece, Lena Vann, Ethel Ashford, Elrissa Whitlock Webb, and Myrtle Smith. Four brothers, James, Hack, Ernest and Walter Tramel. He is survived by three sons, Calvin Ray and Darlene Tramel, Ricky Tramel, and Roy and Marla Tramel all of Smithville. Five grandchildren, Kathy and Henry Colwell of Rock Island, C.J. & Tabby Tramel, Medeana and Arlin Byford, Joshua Tramel, and Myra and Blake Reffue all of Smithville. Eight great grandchildren, Heather and Patrick Colwell of Rock Island, James, Isaiah and Silas Tramel, Jada and Riley Palmer, and Lilly Reffue all of Smithville. Sarah Ophaline Judkins age 96 of McMinnville and a native of DeKalb County, passed away Friday night, January 6, 2017 at St. Thomas River Park Hospital in McMinnville. She was born January 10, 1920 to her parents, the late Hershel and Martha Martin Judkins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death her husband, Jim A. Judkins; 1 son, Gene Edward Judkins; 2 daughters, Carol Herman and Aladean Judkins; step-son, James Calvin Knowles. She was a Primitive Baptist and a homemaker. Survivors include 2 sons, Clyde (Pauline) Judkins and Grady (Nina) Judkins both of McMinnville; 4 step-daughters, Linda (Steve) Hale, Anita (Eddie) Moore, Stella Dyer and Faye Cole all of Smithville; 3 step-sons, Gerald (Altie) Knowles, Melvin Knowles and Donald (Donna Kay) Knowles all of Smithville; 16 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, 16 step-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted 2 PM Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Eld. Paul Violet and Bro. Michael Hale officiating and burial to follow in Keltonburg Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be on Monday 1 PM until 8 PM and Tuesday 9 AM until the time of the service at 2 PM. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
