Ruby Adcock

92 year old Ruby Adcock of Smithville died Friday at NHC Healthcare Center in Smithville.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Indian Mound Baptist Church.
The funeral will be Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home.
Burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Sunday from 10:00 a.m. until the service at 2:00 p.m.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Helen Vanatta Knowles; husband, Richard Adcock; a son, Elmer Adcock; and four brothers, Herbert, Aaron, J.T., and Lovell Knowles.
Survivors include a grandson, Timmie and wife Peggy Adcock and one daughter-in-law, Flora Mai Adcock all of Smithville.
Four sisters and three brothers-in-law, Ruth and Ronnie Hobbs, Lois and Jimmy Davis, Betty and Charles Atnip all of Smithville and Joyce Large of White Pine, Tennessee.
One brother-in-law, Sterling Martin of Smithville.
One sister-in-law, Ruthie Adcock of Indian Mound.

Michael E. Van Patten

49 year old Michael E. Van Patten of Binghamton, New York died Wednesday at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in New York.
The funeral will be Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at the J.F. Rice Funeral Home in New York.
Elvin S. Murphy will officiate.
Visitation will be Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until the service at 2:00 p.m.
Van Patten was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Marlene Van Patten; and a sister, Nancy Van Patten.
He was a well-known contractor for 33 years, having owned and operated Mike Van Patten Construction in Binghamton.
He loved NASCAR racing, was a huge Dale Earnhart fan, and he enjoyed bowling.
Mike would do anything for anyone who asked and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife of 16 years, Dorothy Layton Van Patten of Binghamton.
Children, Kristy "Chef" and husband James Aiken Smith of Saratoga Springs, New York and Steven "Bug" Arvin of Binghamton.

Addie T. Bailiff

98 year old Addie T. Bailiff of Smithville died Wednesday at DeKalb Community Hospital.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Snow Hill Baptist Church.
The funeral will be Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home.
Dave Carden and Jonathan Willoughby will officiate and burial will be in the Snow Hill Baptist Cemetery.
Visitation will be Friday from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 2:00 p.m.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Ardie Ross Tramel; husband, Howard Bailff; three brothers, William H. Tramel, Roy Tramel, and Charlie Tramel; a nephew, Sam Coke; and nieces, Jacklyn Coke and Bobbie Coke.
She is survived by nieces and nephews, Effie Lee Ellis, L.C. Tramel, Paul Tramel, Robert Tramel, David Tramel, and Dorothy Tramel, all of Smithville, LuBell Bain of Murfreesboro, Wayne Coke, and Peggy Coke both of Nashville.
Several great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews.

Billy Roy Lassiter

67 year old Billy Roy Lassiter of the Wayside Community of McMinnville died Tuesday at Centennial Medical Center in Nashville of a brief illness.
He was born in Chattanooga and founded Lassiter's Auto Repair & Sales, Inc. in 1967.
Lassiter was also a member of Friendship The Baptist Church, Warren Masonic Lodge No. 125, a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason, and a Shriner.
Lassiter was preceded in death by his parents Alton and Reba Simerly Lassiter, a son Jeff Lassiter, and a sister Nancy Allen.

T.J. "T. Buck" Farler

84 year old T.J. "T. Buck" Farler of Dowelltown died Wednesday at NHC Healthcare Center in Smithville.
He was a farmer. The funeral will be Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel.
Royce Martin will officiate and burial will be in the Snow Hill Baptist Cemetery.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the service at 2:00 p.m. He was preceded in death by his parents, John B. and Minnie Moore Farler; brothers, William Jess Farler and James Edward Farler.
Survivors include a sister-in-law, Inez Farler of Dowelltown.
A nephew, Jerry and wife Teresa Farler of Alabama. Nieces, Regenia and husband Jerry Pack of McMinnville, and Ramona and husband Dan Fuson of Dowelltown.
Great nieces, Cherie Page, Inez Bryant, and Katherine Farler.
Great nephews, Keith Farler, Adam Farler, Jerry Farler, Jr., and James Pack; and special cousins, Willie Jim Cripps, Brighham Ayres, and Joe Ayres.

Helen Darlene Caldwell

51 year old Helen Darlene Caldwell of Smithville died Monday at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville.
She was a member of the Banks Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
The funeral will be Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel.
Michael Hale will officiate and burial will be in the Banks Cumberland Presbyterian Church cemetery.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 2:00 p.m.
She was preceded in death by her father, George Lee Vanatta and a step-daughter, Stephanie West.
Survivors include her children, Jacqueline Franklin and companion Charles Pack of Smithville and Buddy Austin and wife Rachel Vanatta of Morrison, Vilot and husband Brandon Tucker of Smithville, and mother, Flonnie Caldwell Vanatta of Smithville.
Three step-children, Jason West of Brush Creek, Travis West of Crossville, and Shauna West of Brush Creek.

Reverend Robert H. "Bob" King

83 year old Reverend Robert H. "Bob" King of McMinnville died Saturday at DeKalb Community Hospital.
He was a minister for over 35 years.
King was also a truck driver for the Interstate Block Company and he worked as a timber cutter.
The funeral will be Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at the Apostolic Church of Restoration in Cowen.
Burial will be in the Cowan Montgomery Cemetery.
Visitation will be Monday from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the service at 2:00 p.m. at the church.
King was preceded in death by brothers, Vernon and Roy King.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Towery King of McMinnville.
Children, Robert and wife Anita King of Decherd, Eddie and wife Linda King of Estill Springs, Norma Gail and husband Jerry Smith of Huntland, Linda Sue Morris of Sherwood, Brenda Marie Stephens of Cowen, Ethelene and husband James Stephens of Cowan, Betty Jean and husband Lester Ashley of Elora, Leisa Nell and husband Charles Liles of Winchester.
Step-children, Debbie and husband Mike Sloan of Gastonia, North Carolina, Larry and wife Shelia Chapman of McMinnville, Linda Johnson of McMinnville, Jimmy and wife Tanya Chapman of Smithville, and Glen and wife Kim Chapman of McMinnville.
Twenty one grandchildren, thirty nine great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren, ten step grandchildren, nineteen step great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews survive.

Marjorie Ellen Fleenor Schmidt Hopkins

74 year old Marjorie Ellen Fleenor Schmidt Hopkins died Tuesday.
She was a personal sales lady of custom fitted bras for over 40 years and a member of the Shively Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Thomas W. Hopkins; her children, Sherry Schmidt Kennedy and husband David; Susie Schmidt Bradley, and Julie Schmidt Hanrahan and husband Chuck; grandchildren, Amy Kennedy Bindner and husband David, Kara Kennedy Disblbio and husband Marty, Shawn Ferrell, Nicki Lacey, Kristina Calvin and husband Walker, Katherine Waller, Mollie, Jamie and Allison Hanrahan; her niece, Joni Brown and nephew, James Yell.
The funeral will be Friday at 4:00 p.m. at the Owen Funeral Home in Louisville, Kentucky.
Visitation will be Friday from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.
Memorial gifts may be made to her church.

53 year old Arlon Rose Cobble of Smithville died Tuesday at Centennial Hospital.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Emmanuel Bread of Life.
The funeral will be Thursday at 1:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home.
Doretta Hutchings will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be Wednesday from noon until 8:00 p.m. and Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until the service at 1:00 p.m.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Ella Mae Herman Turner; a daughter, Angel Mae Cobble; a brother, Jerry Turner; a half brother, Elton Turner; and a sister, Halena Driver.
Survivors include her husband, Larry Cobble; two daughters, Keisha Farless and Amanda Cobble; two grandchildren, Johnny and Montana Farless; a brother, John and wife Reba Turner; three sisters, Ruby Parsley and Evalena Redmon all of Smithville, and Helen and husband Malcolm Turner of McMinnville.
Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
The family requests that donations be made to Love-Cantrell Funeral Home for burial expenses, in lieu of flowers.
