Pack

55 year old Wanda Kay Pack of Rock Island died Sunday at DeKalb Hospital. She was a cook at DeKalb Middle School for over 30 years. The funeral will be Tuesday at 3:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Corinth Cemetery. She was preceded in death by her father, Homer Lee Bates; a sister, Sharon Whitworth; and an infant brother. She is survived by her husband, Douglas Pack of Rock Island. Her mother, Juanita Bates of Smithville. Two sons, Charles Lee Pack of Smithville and Andy and his wife Jessica Pack of Rock Island. One daughter, Bobbie JoAnn Pack of Rock Island. Two grandchildren, Jennifer and Nathan Pack of Smithville. Three brothers, Kenny and his wife Myra Bates, Tony Bates, and Wayne and his wife Vicky Bates all of Smithville. Two sisters, Thelma and her husband Stub Martin and Janet Hawker all of Smithville. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will be Monday from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. DeKalb County Schools will close Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. to give everyone in the school system an opportunity to attend the funeral.

Smith

41 year old Junior Randall Smith of Smithville died Wednesday morning at the emergency room of DeKalb Hospital. He is survived by his wife, Mary Smith of Smithville. The funeral arrangements are incomplete. A complete list of survivors and funeral arrangements will be announced later by DeKalb Funeral Chapel.

Taylor

30 year old Sergeant Shannon Delane Taylor of Smithville died Sunday, August 14 in Iraq. He was a Staff Sergeant with the National Guard 278th Division, a member of the Mount View The Baptist Church, and an employee of Estes Furniture Company. The funeral will be Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at the Smithville Church of God. Dennis Wood and Garry McBride will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens with full military honors. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, W.B. Taylor and Arnold Murphy. He is survived by his father, Delane Taylor of Smithville. His mother, Donna Pedigo of Smithville. A sister, Michelle Bullard of Smithville. His paternal grandmother, Ressie (Grand Ma Ressie) Taylor of Smithville. His maternal grandparents, Richard and Della Poston of Smithville. Two nieces, Lexi and Taylor Bullard of Smithville. Aunts, Ruth Cantrell, Elene Ray, Denise Redmon, Dimple Blanchfield, Minnie Lee Poss, Darlene Wooley, and Frances Fincher. An uncle, Ernest Murphy and cousins, Rejena Turner, Greg Ray, and Shane Turner. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will be Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel and Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 2:00 p.m. at the Smithville Church of God. All offices in the DeKalb County Courthouse will close at 12:00 noon Wednesday for Taylor's funeral. DeKalb County Schools will also close Wednesday at 12:30 p.m.

Johnson

97 year old Allie Jim Johnson, a resident of Huntsville, Alabama, a native of DeKalb County, and a homemaker died Thursday of an extended illness at Parkview Nursing Home in Huntsville. She was a member of the Highlands United Methodist Church in Huntsville. The funeral will be Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel and burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Kathleen Cassie Washer Terry and her husband, Haston Johnson. She is survived by two sons, Hugh Johnson of Huntsville, Alabama and Lynn Johnson of Knoxville. Grandchildren, Deborah L. Evans, Eddie Johnson, Johnny Johnson, Linda Rose Johnson, and Mary Beth Johnson. Ten great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will be Saturday from noon until the time of the service at 2:00 p.m.

Hanson

96 year old Mable Katherine Hanson of Smithville died Tuesday at NHC Healthcare Center. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ. The funeral will be Friday at 11:00 a.m. at Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Dan Gulley will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Hanson; her parents, Henry Grant and Jodie Oakley Neal; and a son, Marvin Hanson. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Wilma and William Wright and a son and daughter-in-law, Earl Thomas and Linda Hanson all of Georgia. Twelve grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, and eight great great grandchildren. One sister, Stella Smith of Smithville and a niece, Renee and her husband Ben Ferguson of Smithville. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will be Thursday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m.

Galten

85 year old Robert Frank Galten of Smithville died Friday of an extended illness at DeKalb Hospital. He was a member of the Lutheran Church, a World War II, Korea, and Vietnam Veteran. He was also a member of the American Legion and was employed with Waste Water Management. A memorial service will be Monday at 2:00 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Father Jim Bretl will officiate. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Edith Galten. Survivors include his wife, Sherry Ann Galten of Smithville. One son, Lawrence Galten of Smithville. Two grandchildren, Malia and Alan Galten of Arizona. Two great grandchildren, Sarai and Cy Galten of Arizona. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will be Monday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service at 2:00 p.m.

Green

89 year old Clella Ann Green, a homemaker, of Smithville died Thursday at DeKalb Hospital. Funeral services will be Sunday at 1:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love Cantrell Funeral Home with burial to follow at Whorton Spings Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from noon until 6:00 p.m. and Sunday from 10:00 a.m. until the service time at 1pm. Mrs. Green was preceded in death by her parents: Jackson and Avo Pedigo Trapp and two husbands: Fred Petty and William Lloyd Green. She is survived by one son, Jewell Petty of Tullahoma. One granddaughter: Michelle Petty of Florida. Two sisters, Claudie Emberton & Cecil Billings of Smithville and one brother, Clifford Trapp of Sparta. McGinness

84 year old Gentry Bryant McGinness of McMinnville died Saturday at River Park Hospital of an extended illness. He was born in the Keltonburg Community of DeKalb County. He was a member of the Bethany Church of Christ, a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II, and a farmer and livestock dealer. The funeral will be Monday at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of High Funeral Home in McMinnville. Burial will be in the Bethany Cemetery. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Dewey Judkins McGinness; a brother, J.D. McGinness; and a nephew, Billy Wayne McGinness. He is survived by his wife, Helen McGinness; a daughter and son-in-law, Becky and Tommy Bailey; a son and daughter-in-law, Harold and Teresa McGinness; a grandson and his wife, Brandon and Stephanie McGinness; granddaughters, Hilary and Cassie McGinness; and a great grandson, Keaton McGinness all of McMinnville. Visitation will be Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Monday from 8:00 a.m. until the time of the service. High Funeral Home in McMinnville is in charge of the arrangements.

Hicks

53 year old Robert Thomas Hicks of the Pea Ridge Community, Liberty died Tuesday of an extended illness at his residence. He was owner of R. Hicks Construction Company having worked in Wilson, Rutherford, and Davidson Counties. He was a member of the Coopers Chapel Baptist Church. The funeral will be Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Shannon Cantrell will officiate and burial will be in the Simms cemetery in Byrdstown. He was preceded in death by his mother and step-father, Frances and Jesse Campbell and a brother, Randall Lee Hicks. Survivors include his wife, Beverly Sue Hicks of Liberty. Two sons and daughters-in-law, Tim and Liz Hicks of Murfreesboro and Brad and Amanda Riley of Lebanon. One daughter and son-in-law, Marilyn and Jim Hicks Carr-Winters of Murfreesboro. Grandchildren, Clifford Ryan Carr, Colton Robert Carr, Tristin Reid Hicks, Peyton Wesley Hicks, Isabella Riley, and Gabrielle Riley. Sisters, Betty and her husband Danny Prater of Liberty, Christy and her husband Lyn Tisdale of Brush Creek, and Amy Wells of Lebanon. Brothers, Joseph and his wife Kim Hicks of Lebanon, Brad and his wife Stephanie Hicks of Lebanon, David and his wife Teresa Thompson of Watertown, Jimmy and his wife Jane Thompson of Louisville, Kentucky, and Dee Hicks of Lebanon. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m.

Willoughby

64 year old Louie Brown Willoughby of Watertown died Tuesday at University Medical Center in Lebanon. He was a native of Alexandria, a U.S. Air Force veteran, and a mechanic. The funeral will be Friday at 10:00 a.m. at Hunter Funeral Home in Watertown. Don Mathis will officiate and burial will be in the Hillview Cemetery. He was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Vaughtie Roberts Willoughby and a nephew, Ted Risinger. He is survived by his wife, Daphene Hardcastle Willoughby of Lebanon. Two sons and daughters-in-law, Dwayne and Monica Willoughby of Lebanon and Marvin and Christie Willoughby of Alexandria. A sister and brother-in-law, Shelvie Jean and John Underhill of Alexandria. Nieces and nephews, James Underhill, Yvonne Campbell, John and Kirk Risinger, Alan and David Stepheson, and John and Mark Hardcastle. Two great nieces and three great nephews. Hunter Funeral Home in Watertown is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will be Thursday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
