Mrs. Johnnie Cripps Nixon

84 year old Mrs. Johnnie Cripps Nixon of the Beasley's Bend community of Smith County died Thursday at Lebanon Health and Rehabilitation. The body is at the Gordonsville Chapel of Bass Funeral Home where the funeral will be held Sunday at 1:00 p.m.. Serita Martin and Charles Allen Gentry will officiate and burial will be in the Gordonsville Cemetery. The Nixon family will receive friends at the Gordonsville Chapel on Friday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.; Saturday from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.; and Sunday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 1:00 p.m. She is survived by a half sister, Dorothy Malone of Temperance Hall. Two sisters-in-law, Eula Cripps of Temperance Hall and Sadye Trusty of Beasley's Bend. Several nieces and nephews also survive. The Gordonsville Chapel of Bass Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Larry Eugene Washer

59 year old Larry Eugene Washer of Lower Helton Road, Alexandria died Thursday at his residence. The body is at the Gordonsville Chapel of Bass Funeral Home where the service will be held Sunday at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be in the Brush Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Gordonsville Chapel on Saturday from noon until 8:00 p.m. and Sunday from noon until the time of the service at 2:00 p.m. Washer is survived by his wife, Cindy Skinner Washer of Alexandria. Children, Julie Ann Radar and her husband Bruce of Sykes; Lydia Michelle Foote and her husband James of Sykes; and Alicia Dawn Washer of Alexandria. Grandchildren, Gabriel Lee Radar, Elaina Ruby Foote, and Aidan James Foote. A brother and sister-in-law, Bernie and Carol Washer of Alexandria. Julie Ann Radar's mother, Mary Ann Rose of Sykes. Memorials may be made to Alive Hospice of Murfreesboro. The Gordonsville Chapel of Bass Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Robert Stanton Robinson

86 year old Robert Stanton Robinson of Alexandria died Wednesday at DeKalb Community Hospital. The funeral will be Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria. Jason Lohorn and James Daniel will officiate. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Friday from 1:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Burial will be Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at Sango cemetery in Clarksville. Robinson was a member and deacon of the Upper Helton Baptist Church of Alexandria. He was also a 1940 graduate of Liberty High School; worked for North American Aviation in Los Angeles, California from 1940 until 1942; and he joined the U.S. Army Air Force in 1942 and was discharged from active duty in 1946 as a Master Sergeant. Robinson was also a retired jeweler and a farmer. He was preceded in death by his parents, Baxter Overall and Martha Virginia Roberts Robinson; brothers, Kline, Thurman, Burnard, and Dib Robinson; sisters, Clara Dale Gaither, Willie Mai Williams, and Ruby Robinson; and a son, Larry Neal Robinson. In addition to his wife of 60 years Bernice Neal Robinson, he is survived by a daughter, Peggy Robinson Moore and daughter-in-law, Rhonda Morrison Robinson of Clarksville; grandchildren, Michael and his wife Cheri Moore of Chesapeake, Virginia, James Moore, Wade Robinson, Jerry and his wife Cynthia Robinson, and Wendy Robinson of Clarksville. Great grandchildren, Rachel Moore, Robert Stanton Moore, and Juliana Moore of Chesapeake, Virginia and Diego and Rocky Robinson of Clarksville. Step great granddaughters, Melanie and Mechelle Scott of Clarksville. Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria is in charge of the arrangements.

Mary Emma Carter

95 year old Mary Emma Carter of Smithville died Wednesday at DeKalb Community Hospital. She was a homemaker and a member of the Mount Herman Baptist Church. The funeral will be Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Tommy Taylor will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Thursday from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.; Friday from 10:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m.; and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 1:00 p.m. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edmon and Martha Thompson Sandlin; her husband Bernice Carter; a daughter, Margie Carter; a grandchild, Denise Whitefield; two sisters, Sarah Bain and Lillie Mae Dutton; and three brothers, Ewin, Clarence, and Junior Sandlin. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Frances and Travis Whitefield of Smithville. One son and daughter-in-law, Eugene and Joy Faye Carter of Smithville. Four grandchildren, Jeffrey Carter and Steven Carter both of Smithville, Sharon Yocum of Sparta, and Serita Bratcher of Morrison. Eight great grandchildren, Jennifer Dunn, Jeff Carter, Jr. and Chance Carter all of Smithville, Jason Bratcher, Daniel Bratcher, and Benjamin Bratcher all of Morrison, and Amy Yocum and Becky Yocum both of Sparta. One great great grandchild, Patryn Carter of Smithville. Two sisters, Ione Miller and Clara Driver both of Smithville. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

James Raymond Goff

James Raymond Goff, infant son of Jerry and Rhonda Evans Goff of Smithville died Wednesday at the Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge. A graveside service will be held Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at the Goff family cemetery in the Austin Bottom community of DeKalb County. Ricky Arnold will officiate. Family and friends will leave the funeral home at 9:15 a.m. to go to the cemetery for the service at 10:00 a.m. There will be no visitation. The child was preceded in death by his grandfather, Jerry Goff and his great grandfather, Charlie Evans. In addition to his parents, the child is survived by a sister, Teshia Jo Goff. His paternal grandparents, Harry and Ivy Holmes of Smithville. His maternal grandparents, Ronnie and Carolyn Evans of Smithville. Paternal great grandparents, Barbara Allen of Cookeville and LeRoy Goff of Smithville. Maternal great grandmother, Frankie Jo Evans of Smithville. Uncles, Jonathon Goff and Jonnie Evans of Smithville. Aunt and uncle, Jo Carol and T.J. Summers. The family asks that donations be made to DeKalb Funeral Chapel to help with expenses, in lieu of flowers.

Jackie Wayne Bandy

54 year old Jackie Wayne Bandy of McMinnville died Tuesday at his home. He was in the Tennessee Army National Guard, 278th ACR with 22 years of active service prior to retiring as Sergeant First Class. The funeral will be Friday at 12:00 p.m. (noon) at the Chapel of Pikeville Funeral Home. Burial will be in the T.Y. Swafford cemetery with full military honors. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Tennessee Army National Guard and the Warren County Sheriff's Department. The family will receive friends starting at 11:00 a.m. Thursday. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hebron and Frances Bandy. Survivors include his wife, Bridget Bandy and a daughter Chloe Emmaline Jane Bandy both of McMinnville. A son, Brian Bandy, and daughter Katrina and her husband Andy Collier of Alexandria. Grandchildren, Matthew, Brent, and Tiffany. Brothers, Danny Bandy of Smithville, Carl Bandy of Silver Point, and Jeff Bandy of McMinnville. A sister Kathy Jones of Georgia. Mother-in-law, Neva Bayless Swafford of Pikeville. Sister-in-law, Russell Anne Swafford Talley, and a brother-in-law, Jeff Talley of Dunlap. The family requests that memorial contributions be made in lieu of flowers to a scholarship fund for Chloe Bandy established by the Tennessee Army National Guard at Regions Bank in McMinnville. 87 year old Hoytte Venson Griffith of Smithville died Wednesday at his residence. He was a farmer, member of the Banks Cumberland Presbyterian Church, and a U.S. Army World War II Veteran. The funeral will be Friday at 2:00 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Charles "Buddy" Pope and Greg Mullis will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Friday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 2:00 p.m. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jennie Lee Joins Griffith; his parents, John Garrison and Effie Evergreen Yeargin Griffith; brothers, Houston, Carl, and John Griffith; and a sister, Sarah Dean Moss. Survivors include a son, Roger and his wife Lynn Griffith of Smithville. Grandsons, Chris and his wife Jennifer Griffith and Ron and his wife Mindy Griffith all of Dowelltown. Great grandchildren, Kiersten, Cadee, and Aly Griffith. Two sisters, Elva Wilbert of New Jersey, Magdalene Joins of Smithville and a sister-in-law, Gladys Griffith of Smithville. 45 year old Mr. Ou Chen of Palm Coast, Florida and formerly of Liberty died Sunday at the Halifax Medical Center in Daytona, Florida. He was a Christian and owner of the China American Garden Restaurant in Florida. The funeral will be Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at the Liberty United Methodist Church. Wilson Williams will officiate and burial will be in Salem Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 1:00 p.m. at the church. He was preceded in death by his father, Boun Chen and a nephew, Ming Chansiya. He is survived by his wife, Lyla Hong Chen of Florida. A son, David Tyler Chen of Florida. His mother, Onith Heuang Chen of Tennessee and Florida. Two sisters, Wai Ying of Hong Kong and Song and her husband Vang Chansiya of Florida. Four brothers, Kiang and his wife Pinoy Chen of Canada, Siao Tsan Chen of Japan, Tiu Joe and his wife Thann Chen of Chattanooga, and Pheng and his wife Lynne Chen of Florida. Seven nephews and six nieces survive, Wilson and Lois Williams of Liberty and many friends and loved ones. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.

86 year old Reverend Clifford Ingram of Smithville died early Saturday morning at his residence. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Lockhart Ingram of Smithville. The funeral will be Monday at 2:00 p.m. at the Smithville First United Methodist Church. Burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel and on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 2:00 p.m. at the church. Virgil Carl Davis

83 year old Virgil Carl Davis of Smithville died Friday at DeKalb Community Hospital. He was a self employed farmer and owner of Carl Davis and Sons Nursery. Davis was also a Baptist, a U.S. Army World War II Veteran, a 32nd degree Mason for 50 years and a past Master of Liberty Lodge #77. He was a member of the DeKalb Farm Bureau Board of Directors for nine years and was involved in Tennessee agriculture. The funeral will be Sunday at 3:30 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Burial will be in Whorton Springs Cemetery. He was preceded in death by his parents, Virgil Edgar and Dollie Eller Davis; a sister, Mary Magnolia Davis Cantrell; and brothers, Earl Eugene and Ewin Edgar Davis. Survivors include his wife, Willene Ford Davis of Smithville. A daughter, Betty Davis of Chattanooga. Sons, Carl Douglas and his wife Sandra Davis and Edgar Davis of Smithville. Grandsons, B.J. Davis of Murfreesboro, Jacob and his wife Dana Davis of Dowelltown, and Jared Davis of Cookeville. Great granddaughter, Kendall Davis of Dowelltown.
