Hancock

The funeral for 46 year old Anna Armistead Hancock will be Monday at 1:00 p.m. at Cookeville Funeral Home and burial will be in the Smellage Cemetery. She is survived by a daughter, Micki Hancock. One son, Jay Hancock. One sister, Patricia Maxwell. Two brothers, Joe Armistead and Claude Allen Armistead. Visitation will be Sunday after 1:00 p.m. and Monday after 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Cookeville Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Webster

79 year old Sadie Lee Webster of Walker's Creek Road in Alexandria died Saturday morning at her residence. She was a retired employee of Workwear Corporation in Alexandria. She was a DeKalb County native and she attended the Malone's Chapel Baptist Church. The funeral will be Monday at 1:00 p.m. at Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria. Dewey Dyer will officiate and burial will be in the New Hope Cemetery. She was preceded in death by her parents, Schyler Malone and Willie Martin Malone and her husband, Clarence Early Webster. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Janice and Robert Earl Winfree of Alexandria. One granddaughter and her husband, Suzanne and Eric Vanatta of Alexandria. Three grandsons, Keith and Kevin Winfree of Alexandria and Mark and his wife Stacey Winfree of Smithville. One great grandson, Logan Vanatta. Two great granddaughters, Devin Vanatta and Rilee Swann Winfree. One sister and brother-in-law, Frances and Kenneth Massey of Elmwood. Two brothers and a sister-in-law, James and Naomi Malone and Harold Malone all of Mount Juliet. Visitation will be Sunday from 10:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria is in charge of the arrangements.

Looper

60 year old Joe Lynn Looper, Sr. of Smithville died Saturday morning at his residence of an extended illness. He was a retired security guard for the Appalachian Center for Crafts and a member of the Unity Church. A memorial service will be Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Dr. John B. Averitt will officiate. He was preceded in death by his father, Lelon P. Looper. He is survived by his wife, Gail S. Looper of Smithville. His mother, Dana Looper of Smithville. Two sons, Lynn and Andy Looper of Hendersonville. One daughter, Ann Zayes of Hendersonville. A step-son, Stacey Binkley of Dickson. A step-daughter, Cheree Binkley Spencer of Roselawn, Indiana. A sister, Linda Looper Prosak of Kansas City, Missouri. Fifteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. until the memorial service at 7:00 p.m. The family requests that donations be made to the Library Fund at the Appalachian Center for Crafts in memory of Mr. Looper in lieu of flowers.

Mangum

73 year old Ferman Lee (Be Be) Mangum of McMinnville died Saturday at NHC Health Care Center in McMinnville. He was a DeKalb County native. The funeral will be Monday at 11:00 a.m. at the Chapel of McMinnville Funeral Home and burial will be in the Whorton Springs cemetery in DeKalb County. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jessie Brown Mangum and Novella Bond Mangum; sisters, Elizabeth Cummings, Mildred Odom, and Vella Blythe, and brothers, Fred, Jimmy, and Jack Mangum, and John and Bill Van Hooser. He is survived by by two brothers, Herman P. Mangum of East Detroit, Michigan and Gene W. Mangum of McMinnville. Two sisters, Dora Hutchings of McMinnville and Lela Boileau of Marianna, Arkansas. Several nieces and nephews also survive. The Mangum Family will receive friends Sunday from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Monday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. McMinnville Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Taylor

95 year old Ruby Love Taylor of McMinnville died Sunday at NHC Healthcare Center in McMinnville of an extended illness. She was a DeKalb County native and a homemaker. She was also a member of the Morrison First Baptist Church. The funeral will be Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at the chapel of McMinnville Funeral Home. Billy G. Nunley will officiate and burial will be in the Whorton Springs Cemetery. She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Lula Hendrixson Love; her husband, Lonnie A. Taylor; and a brother, Otis Love. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Jane and Jimmy Warren of McMinnville. A son and daughter-in-law, Lonnie and Shirley Taylor of McMinnville. Grandchildren, Sherry Todd, Stephen Clemons, and John Taylor. Step-granddaughter, Lori Sweden. Nine great grandchildren. Two great great grandchildren. One niece and several cousins. 79 year old Reba Young Drake of Hot Springs, Arkansas and formerly of Smithville died Sunday at St. Joseph Hospital. She was a Baptist and a retired factory worker. The funeral will be Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at the chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Jason Lohorn will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Winfield and Lily Frances Young; her step father, Bob Young; brothers, Robert Young, Elzie Young, Lonnie Young, and Walter Young; and sisters, Lucille Foster and Wilma Young. She is survived by a son, Joshua Drake of Hot Springs, Arkansas. A daughter, Jennifer Drake of Hot Springs, Arkansas. Brothers, William "Pete" Young of Dibrell and Ray Donald Young and Norval Young of Smithville. Grandchildren, Deidre and her husband, Rob Nelson of Arkansas, Jessamyn Carter of Arkansas, and Grace and her husband Gideon of Arkansas. One great grandchild, Felix Nelson of Arkansas. 90 year old Haskle J. Mabe of Walling, Tennessee died Saturday at his son's residence in White County. He was retired from Thomas Industries. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Fannie Hutchings Mabe; his wife, Ozella Luna Mabe; and a son, Wilford Mabe. He is survived by two sons, Leonard Mabe of Sparta and Dillard Mabe of Doyle. A sister, Lula Hutson of Smithville. Nine grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. 38 year old Rosa M. Stokes died Thursday in Marietta, Georgia. The body is at the J.C. Hellum Funeral Home in Lebanon where family visitation will be Sunday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. The body will be at the First Baptist Church in Alexandria Monday from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. and the funeral will follow. She is survived by her mother and step-father, Elizabeth and Alfred Abston of Mount Juliet. A brother and sister-in-law, Marcus and Ebony Stokes of Lavergne. Two uncles and aunts, Robert and Lillian Stokes of Murfreesboro and Thomas and Eula Stokes of Lebanon. Two aunts and an uncle, Kathleen Donaldson of Murfreesboro and Margaret and John Johnson of Nashville. A niece, J'mia Covington and many other relatives and friends. The J.C. 83 year old Willie Louise Phillips Tate of Gassaway died Saturday at her home of an extended illness. She was a Cannon County native, a member of the Sycamore Baptist Church and a retired sales clerk with Roaches Department Store. The funeral will be Sunday at 4:00 p.m. at the Sycamore Baptist Church. Dave Cardin and Charles Olson will officiate and burial will be in the Sycamore Cemetery. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jay Phillips and Minnie Phillips; her husband Coval Tate; and a daughter, Janice Tate Knox. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Billy and Carol Tate of the Gassaway Community. Four grandchildren, Lisa Knox Smith of Lavergne, Chris Knox of Woodbury, Lorne Tate of Gassaway, and Tammy Tate Wood of Mount Clemons, Michigan. Seven great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive. Woodbury Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

80 year old Norman Adron Cantrell, a retired farmer of Centertown, died Saturday morning. He was originally from the Hurricane Creek area of DeKalb County. Cantrell formerly worked at the Carrier Corporation's Morrison Plant and the Warren County Sanitation Department. He was preceded in death by his parents, Zollie Cantrell and Shirlie Love Cantrell. The funeral will be Monday at 2:00 p.m. at McMinnville Funeral Home. Chris Mears will officiate and burial will be in the Unity Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 11:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Monday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service. He is survived by his wife, Hattie Jo Page Cantrell. Three sons, Brent of Knoxville, Randall and his wife Brenda of Smithville, and Jeffery and friend Shelley of Rock Island. A daughter, Carolyn J. Henry and her husband Mark of Centertown. Grandchildren, Valerie Smith and her husband Tony, Brandy and Grayson Cantrell, Alexander, Natalie, and Wesley Hennessee. Great grandchildren, Aaron, Christopher, and Brittany Smith. Brothers, Reed, Gordon and his wife Jane Ann, and Royce and his wife, Bennie. Sisters, Josie Love, Elizabeth Lafever, Gladys Buck and her husband, Claude, Rubye Cantrell, Joyce Crosslin, and Linda Hillis and her husband, Baxter also survive along with several nieces and nephews.
