Lois Ann Certain Puckett
76 year old Lois Ann Certain Puckett of Smithville died Monday at NHC Healthcare Center. She was retired from DeKalb County and a member of the Buckner's Chapel United Methodist Church. A graveside service will be Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at Puckett Cemetery. Phil Tollett will officiate. Visitation will be Monday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. at which time the family will depart for the cemetery. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Lucille Miller Certain; her husband, Wilburn Puckett; a daughter, Patricia Rowe; a son, Steve Puckett; and a brother, Lynn Certain. Survivors include two sons, Eddie and Tim Puckett both of Smithville. Four grandchildren, Debbie Ball, Dwain Rowe, Jake Puckett, and Dakota Nokes all of Smithville. Five great grandchildren, Lance and Lane Ball, Jessica Cook, Cassidy Cook, and Matt Rowe. Brothers, James and Danny Certain both of Smithville. Sisters, Nettie Lou Judkins, Marie Hill, and Charlene Poss all of Smithville. Donations may be made to help with funeral and medical expenses, in lieu of flowers, or to the American Cancer Society. Elsie Hendrixson
100 year old Elsie Hendrixson died Sunday at NHC of Smithville. She was a member of the Indian Creek Baptist Church since 1923, a homemaker, and a factory worker. The funeral will be Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Terry Fesler and Mike Carpenter will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Monday from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the service at 2:00 p.m. She was preceded in death by her husband, Shelton (Shag) Hendrixson; a son, three year old Kenneth Hendrixson, great grandson, Chris Webb, A sister, Freeda Estes, two sons-in-law, W.J. (Wise Owl) Hendrixson and H.D. (Tootsie) Cook, and a daughter-in-law, Ezzie Lee Hutching Hendrixson. Survivors include a son, T.J. Hendrixson; three daughters, Geraldine Cook, Clarene Hendrixson, and Yvonne and husband Douglas Bonner all of Smithville. Six grandchildren, Jackie and husband Larry Webb, Jimmy and wife Virgie Hendrixson, and Jane and husband Matthew Brown all of Smithville, Ann Hildreth of Warren County, Mike and wife Melody Hendrixson of Florida, and Cathy and husband Bob Culver of Michigan. Two step-grandchildren, Gloria and husband Steve Corbin of Lynchburg, Mike and wife Sandy Cook of Tullahoma. Sister-in-law, Jimmie Mullican of Smithville. Patricia Askew Allmon
66 year old Patricia Askew Allmon of Alexandria died Saturday at DeKalb Community Hospital. She was born in Wilson County. Allmon was a homemaker and member of the West Main Baptist Church. The funeral will be Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at the Chapel of Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria. Ronnie Smith will officiate and burial will be in New Hope Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until the service. She was preceded in death by her parents, Amon Frazier Askew and Maudie Bell Parkerson Askew; her husband of 31 years, David C. Allmon; several aunts, uncles, two nephews; and a sister-in-law. Survivors include two brothers, Walter Askew of Brush Creek and Shelie "Pee Wee" and wife Pam Askew of Alexandria. Two aunts, one uncle, several nieces and nephews, two sisters-in-law, and one brother-in-law also survive. The family has requested that donations be made, in lieu of flowers, to Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria for funeral expenses.

Nell Haas Driver
Nell Haas Driver, age 92, the Grand Matriarch of the James G. “Bobo” Driver Family, entered into Heaven on October, 18, 2012. During the past few years she lived at The Webb House, then the NHC Nursing home in Smithville were she passed away peacefully.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Enoch Henry Haas and Lela Lane Haas Curtis; her step-father Wesley Curtis; her two brothers, Harl and Walter Haas; her husband, James G. "Bobo" Driver; her third son, Randall Gray Driver; grandson Jake McClain Driver; and step-grandson J.R. Turrentine.
She is survived by five sons, Jim Driver and Donnie Driver of Smithville; Mickey and Debbie Driver of Houston, Texas; Gary Driver of Tullahoma; and Terry and Charlotte Ann Driver, who live in Indiana. Also surviving are step-sister Perri Mathis and husband Owen of Shelbyville; step-brother Jack Curtis and wife Inez of El Segundo, California; two nieces; 12 grandchildren and their families, including, 18 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
Nell was born July 31, 1920 at her parents’ home at Snow Hill, about four miles west of Smithville. Her home was at the intersection of Snow Hill Road and Mann Hill Road. She grew up there with her dad and mom, and her two brothers. She attended Snow Hill Elementary School and Smithville High School. She played basketball on the Snow Hill grammar school team, and in high school played on the PTA seasonal team.
Her dad was a DeKalb County Justice of the Peace, and a farmer who had mules, horses, milk cows and who raised corn, tobacco, and large vegetable gardens. The family grew just about everything they ate. She was a member of 4H Club and attended their camps each summer at Columbia, Tennessee. Always an extrovert who loved to socialize, she had many school and neighborhood friends, some with whom she maintained lifelong relationships.
Growing up she attended Snow Hill Methodist Church where she belonged to the young people's group, the Epworth League. It was a group that studied scriptures, but also provided a place for young people to socialize. Her grandparents and parents donated land for the church, which was near their home, and which is still in use today.
Nell first met her husband of 54 years, James G. “Bobo” Driver, in 1936 when he was working for a road crew in front of her Snow Hill home. Soon after that she met him at a party at a neighbor's house. They liked each other instantly and after a few years of courtship they were married
on November 27, 1938.
Bobo loved to play bluegrass music and sing, and so did Nell. Their six sons inherited their parents’ talent and passion for playing music. For years Bobo, Nell and their sons performed as the Driver Family Band, appearing at school and church functions all over middle Tennessee. The family has a picture showing them singing on the courthouse steps in Smithville on the Fourth of July 1953. They also performed at the Junior Grand Ole Opry in Nashville where they had many friends in the country music business.
Nell was well known in the Smithville Community for her volunteer work with several organizations, including the Smithville Jamboree. She served as registrar for the Jamboree for 15 years. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and a member of the Smithville Church of Christ for over 40 years. Before retiring, she worked for the Smithville Community Development and Housing Agency for 12 years.
Nell’s great pride was her family. She sincerely loved them all, including her extended family, past and present. She cherished being “Mommy Nell” and having her home be the focal point of family gatherings, especially during the holidays of Easter, Fourth of July, Thanksgiving and Christmas. Her sense of humor, devilish smile, generous laughter, and ability to teach through example the importance of family and unconditional love, is a legacy that will live on through countless Driver family generations.
Visitation will be at Love-Cantrell Funeral Home in Smithville from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Saturday, October 20, and from 10:00 AM until 2:00 PM on Sunday, October 21. Funeral Services will be at the funeral home chapel at 2:00 PM on Sunday, October 21 followed by interment at DeKalb Memorial Gardens in Smithville.
In lieu of flowers, anyone wishing to remember and honor Nell’s life can contribute to the Nell Haas Driver Scholarship Fund at any Regions Bank, account 0166664926. The fund will be used to help a student from DeKalb County High School attend college.

Carol Corley Christian
70 year old Carol Corley Christian died Sunday at Sumner Regional Medical Center. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ned Upton Corley & Betty Edna Barry Corley. Survivors include a daughter, Angie and husband John Bruce of Lebanon; grandchildren, Justin Bruce, Kyle Bruce, & Morgan Bruce; brother, Kenneth and wife Vicki Corley of Alexandria; sister, Cathy and husband Danny Marler of Alexandria; numerous nieces & nephews. Ms. Christian was an active member of First Baptist Church in Gallatin and a former bookkeeper/secretary with McFarland Hospital. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. and Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until funeral service at 11:00 a.m. in the Partlow Funeral Chapel. 90 year old Ada Kathleen Grizzle Turner of Gainesboro and formerly of Smithville died Sunday at Mabry Health Care in Gainesboro. She was former owner of the Dairy Bell Restaurant. The funeral will be Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Mark Burnett and Kelly Stockton will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the service at 1:00 p.m. She was preceded in death by her parents, John R. and Mary Johnson Grizzle. 53 year old Jimmy Paul Mullican of Smithville died Saturday at his residence. He was a Baptist, a bus driver for the DeKalb County School System, and a farmer. 75 year old Jessie Fay Flory of Smithville died Thursday at Palliative Care of Vanderbilt Hospital. She was a Baptist and was retired from Federal Mogul where she worked on the assembly line. The funeral will be Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Mark Bass will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Sunday from 10:00 a.m. until the service at 2:00 p.m. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Elijah and Willie Louise Evans Davis; two sisters, Mary Leona Owens and Robbie Anderson; and one grandson, Daniel Wayne Martin. Survivors include two daughters, Donna Hoffman Paris and husband Randy Paris of Smithville and Patricia Bryant and husband Robert Bryant of Smithville. Three sons, Timothy Adams, Jack Christopher Adams, and Jimmie Lee (Yankee) Marr and wife Frances all of Smithville. Four sisters, W.T. Kenneth Eugene Cantrell
63 year old Kenneth Eugene Cantrell of Smithville died Monday at DeKalb Community Hospital. He worked at Blue Springs Nursery. A memorial service will be Monday, October 15 at 6:00 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Visitation will be Monday from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thaniel Lee and Leotra Pearl Green Cantrell and a son, Travis Cantrell. Survivors include his wife, Kathy Cantrell of Ohio. Children, Adriene Lilley of Ohio and Josh Cantrell of Smithville. Grandchildren, Ethan Cantrell and Rajah Esperance.
