Willette Hays Scott

93 year old Willette Hays Scott of Alexandria died Tuesday at NHC Healthcare Center in Smithville. Born in Cottage Home of Wilson County, she was a homemaker and a charter member of the West Main Baptist Church in Alexandria. The funeral will be Friday at 1:00 p.m. at the West Main Baptist Church. Dusty Desimone will officiate and burial will be in Hillview Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 3-7 p.m. at Anderson Funeral Home and Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the service at the church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Martin Sewell Scott; her parents, William Henry Hays and Nancy Alcinda Lynam Hays; and a brother, Charles Lynam Hays. She is survived by a daughter, Marlene and husband Thomas Prichard of Alexandria. Grandchildren, Beth Prichard and husband John Geer of Brentwood and Scott and wife Megan Prichard of Magnolia, Texas. Great grandchildren, Fredrick Alpert of Oxford, Mississippi, Olivia Alpert of Lebanon, and Tyler and Morgan Kate Prichard of Magnolia, Texas. Several nieces and nephews survive. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the West Main Baptist Church Kitchen Fund. Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria is in charge of the arrangements.

Charles "Randy" Wallace

Charles "Randy" Wallace age 68 of Smithville, passed away Tuesday morning, February 24, 2015 at DeKalb Community Hospital of an extended illness. He was born October 19, 1946 to his parents, the late Charles and Mable Mae Johnson Wallace. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Bob & Richard Wallace; 2 sisters, Jennifer Finley & Janice Harbin; step-son, Jamie Webb; grandson, Gary Shuttleworth, II. Randy was a retired supervisor with Texas Boot and was a member of the Conklintown Church of God. He is survived by his wife, Wanda Wallace of Smithville; 3 daughters, Rhonda (Royce) Moore of Dowelltown, Renae (Ryan) Edmonds of Sparta, Yvonne (Shannon) Hale of Smithville; step-daughter, Jennifer (Ricky) Guinn of Smithville; 9 grandchildren, Jayrah Cooper, Leah Cooper, Bobby O'Conner, Jr., Michael Shuttleworth, Kathryn and Kaleb Hale, Sabastian Knight, Justin and Joshua Webb; 2 great-grandchildren, Benjamin and Shelby O'Conner; 2 sisters, Karen (Johnny) Bolen of West Virginia, Kathy (Bob) Hicks of Rock Island; 1 brother, Michael Wallace of West Virginia. Funeral services will be conducted 2:PM Thursday at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Gary Caplinger and Bro. Jason Brown officiating and burial to follow in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation with the family will be on Wednesday 11AM until 8PM and Thursday 10AM until the time of the service at 2:PM. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.

Clyde Medley

Clyde Medley age 90 of Smithville passed away Friday evening, March 13, 2015 at DeKalb Community Hospital. Clyde was a member of the Smithville Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 32nd Degree Mason, Scottish Rite, he was a member of Liberty Lodge #77, retired from Warren County Furniture and was an U.S. Army Veteran. Clyde was preceded by death by his parents; wife, Jewel Medley; brother, Herman Medley. He is survived by a step-son, Nelson (Fay) Gilreath of Smithville; granddaughter, Tarron (Bobby) Huddleston of Lebanon; grandsons, Shane (Donna) Cook of Liberty and Nathan Cook of Smithville; 4 great-grandsons Colby Huddleston, Quentin Cook, Taylor Cook and Heath Cook; 1 sister, Maggie McPherson of McMinnville; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted 3:PM Sunday, March 15, 2015 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Tommy Webb and Bro. Issac Gray officiating and burial to follow in Whorton Springs Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be Saturday 3:PM until 8:PM and Sunday 10:AM until the time of the service at 3:PM. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.

Marvin Wayne Poss

Mr. Marvin Wayne Poss age 87 formerly of McMinnville, TN, died Friday, March 13, 2015, at his residence. He was born February 01, 1928, in DeKalb County, TN, was a retired truck driver, and a member of Newtown The Baptist Church. Mr. Poss was preceded in death by parents Elmer and Estill Young Poss, wife Mirl Raymond Poss, sisters Elizabeth Moore, Nelda Barnes, and Louise Poss, and brothers E. J. and James Poss.
Survivors include his children Austin (Carolyn) Poss, Lynchburg, TN, and Carolyn (Joe) Harper Ft. Oglethorp, GA, brother Junior Poss, Smithville, TN, grandchildren Melanie Womack, Christi (Brian) Waters, Shannon Poss, and Brandon Poss, step-granddaughter MacKenzie Waters, great-grandchildren Ashland Behling, McKenzie Marske, Colby Schleif, Braxton and Conner Waters, Ruby, Daniel, and John Austin Jimenez, and a great-great grandchild Isaac Behling.
Funeral service will be 2:00 P.M. Sunday, March 15, 2015, in the McMinnville Funeral Home Chapel. Bro. Jimmy Gray will officiate. Interment will follow at DeKalb Memorial Gardens in Smithville, TN. The Poss Family will receive friends Saturday from 5 P.M. until 8 P.M. and again Sunday from 12:00 P.M. Noon until 2 P.M. in the parlors of McMinnville Funeral Home.

Melvin Reeder

Melvin Reeder age 71 of Smithville passed away Thursday, March 11, 2015 at his residence. He was born February 3, 1944 to his parents, the late Julius and Vennie Mai Caldwell Reeder. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Lindsay Reeder and 14 brothers and sisters. He was a member of Mt. Herman Baptist Church and attended The Baptist Tabernacle and was a retired nursery worker. Melvin is survived by his wife of 50 years, Christine Reeder of Smithville; 2 children, Charlie (Liz) Reeder of Putnam County and Regena Houk and Reggie Truitt of Smithville; 2 granddaughters, Amanda (Jeff) Rippy and Whitney Houk; 2 great-granddaughters, Sadie Mae and Charlie Ann Rippy; 2 adopted-at-heart great-grandchildren, MaKaylee and Cora Winchester; 3 sisters, Hazel Bowman of Carthage, Susie Vandergriff of Smithville, Sally Tims of Cookeville; several nieces and nephews and special care giver, Misty Dedmon. Funeral services will be conducted 11:AM Saturday, March 14, 2015 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Garry McBride officiating and burial will follow in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation with the family will be Friday 1:PM until 9:PM and Saturday 8:AM until the time of the service at 11:AM. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.

Hobert O. Judkins

Hobert O. Judkins age 90 of Smithville passed away Tuesday night, March 10, 2015 at his residence. He was born February 17, 1925 to his parents, the late Jesse Shelby and Eva Lear Luna Judkins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Norval, John and Harry Judkins; 2 sisters, Earlene Jefferies and Elsie Adcock. Mr. Hobert was an U.S. Army Veteran, serving in WWII in the Philippines, he was a retired metal fabricator for the sign industry. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Jonelda Judkins of Smithville; 6 children, Hobert, Jr. (Rebecca) Judkins of Smithville, Shelby James (Barbara) Judkins of Rock Island, David Allen (Christene) Judkins of Smithville, Michael Wayne (Virginia) Judkins of Sparta, Colleen (Tony) Hernandez of Jackson, Danny Glen (Elaine) Judkins of Texas; 13 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, Lewis and Frank Judkins both of Smithville; 3 sisters, Mary Adcock of Smithville, Jessie Fleming of Indiana, Gloria Jean Martin of Smithville. Funeral services will be conducted 2:30 PM Saturday, March 14, 2015 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Bernard Houk officiating and burial with military honors in the Jaco-Judkins Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be on Friday 3:PM until 8:PM and Saturday 10:AM until the time of the service at 2:30PM. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.

Samuel Wayne Hopson

Samuel Wayne Hopson age 49 of Smithville died Tuesday morning at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville. Born in San Diego, CA, he was the son of the late Samuel and Louise Wise Hopson. Sam is survived by his wife, Margaret Rogers Hopson of Smithville; sons, Michael (Kim) Lester of Defeated and Kevin (Betty) Lester of Lebanon; grandchildren, Madison, Taylor, Caleb and Bryleigh. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 12, 2015 at Hunter Funeral Home with Rev. Donald Owens officiating. Visitation will be on Thursday from 10 a.m. till service time. Pallbearers, Michael and Kevin Lester, Richard Rogers, Rick West, Jason Hardwick, Dakota White; honorary pallbearers, Edward and Edsel Frazier, Wardell Harris, Raymond Tittle, Matt Stanley. Interment at Jennings cemetery in Statesville. Hunter Funeral Home in Watertown is in charge of the arrangements.

Marie Robinson

Marie Robinson age 86 of Smithville passed away Saturday night, March 7, 2015 at her residence. She was born March 21, 1938 to her parents, the late Talmadge and Myrtle Moore Davis. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Robinson; daughter, Linda Malone; son-in-law, Wayne Blair; 5 sisters, Alta Vandergriff, Wilma Cubbins, Edith Seals, Ova Driver, Lena Vanderpool. Marie was a member of the Snow Hill United Methodist Church where she served as Treasurer and was a member of the Snow Hill UMC cemetery Committee for close to 40 years, she retired from Kingston Timers. Survivors include 1 son, Tim Robinson of Smithville; granddaughter, Whitney (Logan) Roberson of Boaz, KY; Son-in-law, Don (Pat) Malone of Chattanooga; step-daughter, Sue Blair of Smithville; step-grandchildren, Vickie (David) Haggard and Tim (Holly) Adcock; step-great-grandchildren, Katie and Ryan Haggard, Caroline and Jackson Adcock; 1 sister, Margie Close of Olive Branch, MS; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted 1:PM Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bros. Kenneth Clayton and Perry Clayton officiating and burial to follow in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation with the family will be on Tuesday 2:PM until 9:PM and Wednesday 9:AM until the time of the service at 1:PM. In addition to flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Snow Hill United Methodist Church cemetery Fund. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.

Willow Dean Atnip Keyt

Willow Dean Atnip Keyt age 86 a native of DeKalb County and a longtime resident of McMinnville and Knoxville, passed away Friday, March 6, 2015 at University of Tennessee Medical Center. She was born April 11, 1928 to her parents, the late Burley L. and Novella Curtis Atnip. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles E. Keyt, Sr., 4 sisters, Gertrude Worley, Viola Jelinek, Elsie McKeever and Alene Holmes Ladd; 3 brothers, Oliver Atnip, Jack Atnip and Dale Atnip. Dean was a member of the Madison Street Baptist Church and was a nursery worker. She is survived by her son, Charles E. Keyt, Jr. of Knoxville; granddaughter, Cassandra Keyt Berry of Charlottesville, VA; 1 brother, Jim Solon Atnip of Georgetown, Louisiana; 1 sister, Ruth Atnip Johnson of Monroe, Louisiana; several nieces and nephews. Graveside services and interment will be 1:PM Monday, March 9, 2015 at DeKalb Memorial Gardens. There will no visitation or services held at the funeral home. Family and Friends will meet at the cemetery for the Graveside service at 1:PM. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
