Landon C. Arnold

80 year old Landon C. Arnold of McMinnville died Friday at River Park Hospital in McMinnville. He was a retired nurseryman with Haley Nursery, a member of the Church of Christ, and an Elder at the Oak Grove Church of Christ. The funeral will be Sunday at 1:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Jonathan Stubblefield will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Sunday from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. He was preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Nora Ferrell Arnold; two brothers, Brown and Warren Arnold; and a sister, Ruth Hendrix. Survivors include his wife, Lera Walker Arnold of McMinnville. Three daughters, Cathy Mansell of Morrison, Janice and her husband Paul Ward of Smithville, and Hope and her husband Chip Knight of McMinnville. One son, Martin Arnold of McMinnville. Nine grandchiildren, Heather Newby, Misty Arnold, Courtney Newby, Madison Arnold, Braden, William and John Carter Knight all of McMinnville, Ryan Ward of Smithville, and Kristian Mansell of Livingston. Eleven great grandchildren and one sister, Maxine Driver of McMinnville. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Michael P. Higham, Sr.

36 year old Michael P. Higham, Sr. of Smyrna, Delaware died Tuesday. He was born in Wilmington, Delaware. Higham was a pipe fitter for Delcard Associates in Wilmington for three years and previously worked for WSMW for 10 years. The funeral will be Monday at noon at the Chapel of Berry-Short Funeral Home in Milford, Delaware. Visitation begins at 10:00 a.m. Monday. Burial will be in the Milford Community cemetery in Milford, Delaware. He was preceded in death by a brother, Rodney M. Higham, Jr. and his step-father, Ronnie Vickers. He is survived by a son, Michael Paul Higham, Jr. of Smyrna; his mother, Katherine Myers Vickers of Milford; his father and step-mother, Rod and Janice Higham of Smithville. His maternal grandfather, Edward A. Myers of Wilmington. His sister-in-law, Marlene Higham of Ellendale; his wife, Roxanne Higham of Middletown, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. T.C. McMillen

78 year old T.C. McMillen of Alexandria died Wednesday at his residence. He was a member and trustee at at the New Hope Baptist Church. The funeral will be Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at the Chapel of Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria. Ronnie Smith will officiate and burial will be in the Hillview Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.; Friday from 10:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m.; and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. He was preceded in death by his parents, Everitt and Leona Robinson McMillen; and a sister, Ruby Paris. Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Sue McMillen of Alexandria. A daughter and son-in-law, Paulette and Kenneth Rich of Alexandria. A son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Sheila McMillen of Alexandria. Grandchildren, Jeff and his wife Latasha Rich and Justin Rich all of Murfreesboro, and Sam McMillen of Alexandria. Two brothers, Robert and his wife Betty McMillen and Victor and his wife Debbie McMillen all of Alexandria. An uncle, Thomas McMillen of Lascassas. An aunt, Frances Harbin of Nashville and several nieces and nephews. Brothers-in-law, Jack and his wife Nell Johnson and Paul Johnson all of Alexandria. Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria is in charge of the arrangements. Michael Cantrell

57 year old Michael Cantrell of Smithville died Tuesday at the V.A. Hospital in Nashville. He was a staff announcer at WJLE and a retired manager of K-Mart in McMinnville. He was also a Methodist. The funeral will be Friday at 1:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Donnie Kelly will officiate and burial will be in the Keltonburg Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Friday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral at 1:00 p.m. He was preceded in death by his mother, Christine Neely Cantrell. Survivors include his wife, Betty Cantrell. Three sons, Anthony Cantrell, Corey and his wife Nena Cantrell. and Brent and his wife Donna Turner all of Smithville. One daughter, Tonja her husband Michael Moore of Murfreesboro. Six grandchildren, Ethan, Raven and Eli Cantrell all of Smithville, Luke Moore of Murfreesboro, Sydney Turner of Smithville, and Matthew Moore of Murfreesboro. His father, Bernice Cantrell of Smithville. One sister, Sherre and her husband Brett Curtis and a brother, Douglas and his wife Lynn Cantrell all of Smithville. Nell Rowland Owen

93 year old Nell Rowland Owen of Murfreesboro, a retired J.C. Penny Department Store employee, died Saturday at Middle Tennessee Medical Center. She was born in Alexandria and was a graduate of Turner Lawrence School in Alexandria. The funeral will be Monday at 2:00 p.m. at Hunter Funeral Home in Watertown. Burial will be in Hillview cemetery in Alexandria. Visitation will be Sunday from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. and prior to the service on Monday. She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Howard L. Owen and parents, Pitt and Lena Eaton Rowland. Survivors include her daughters, Pamela M. Owen and Priscilla Ralston both of Murfreesboro and Monica and her husband Darryl Thompson of Alexandria. Grandchildren, Alice Napper Jones of Alexandria, Andrew Napper of Old Hickory, Sara Bottoms of Hermitage, Spencer Ralston of Hermitage, and Rebecca Haynes of Alexandria. Two great grandchildren. Three sisters, Dale Rice of Phoenix, Arizona, Edith King of Maryville, and Ryta McMurray of Clinton. Hunter Funeral Home in Watertown is in charge of the arrangements.

Alene Bandy

82 year old Alene Bandy of Smithville died Sunday at her residence. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ. The funeral will be Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Burial will be in Whorton Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 11:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 1:00 p.m. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Willie Pack Murphy; her husband, T.J. Bandy; two brothers, Robert and B.L. Murphy; and a sister Wilma Farris. Survivors include a daughter, Lois and her husband Douglas Walker of Smithville. One son, Jerry and his wife Mary Lou Bandy of Smithville. Three grandsons, Eddie and Steve Walker and Gary Bandy all of Smithville. Two granddaughters, JoAnn Floraze and Jeanette Neal both of Smithville. Fifteen great grandchildren. One great great grandson. One sister, Delcie Stevens of Smithville. One brother, L.D. Willette M. Anderson

100 year old Willette M. Anderson, owner of Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria, died Sunday at NHC Healthcare Center in Smithville. She was a DeKalb County native and had been in the funeral business since 1936. The funeral will be Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. at the West Main Baptist Church in Alexandria, where she was a charter member. Amos Jarman and Thurman Seber will officiate and burial will be in Salem Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon at the funeral home and Tuesday from 12:30 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie Martin and Ella Vandergriff Martin; her husband of 65 years, Robert T. Anderson; brothers, Charles B. Martin and James H. "Chic" Martin; and a sister, Maurine Malone. Survivors include a daughter and her husband, Phyllis and Carl Paschal of Alexandria. Four grandchildren, Pam and her husband Aaron Huddleston of Lebanon, Sharon Paschal of Alexandria, Lanee and her husband Terry Young of Mount Juliet, and Ron and his wife Tina Paschal of Alexandria. Great grandchildren, Brandon Huddleston of Daytona, Florida, Beth and her husband Aaron Eakes of Nashville, Lincoln Young and Whitney Young both of Mount Juliet, and Justin Paschal and Jessica Paschal both of Alexandria. An adopted nephew she raised, Rheada and wife Claudine Malone of Nashville. Nephews, Freddy and his wife Laverne Martin of Alexandria and Bobby Charles and wife Audrey Martin of Dowelltown. Kirke Eddy Vernon

66 year old Kirke Eddy Vernon of Cumming, Georgia died at Northside Hospital in Atlanta on Monday. He was a long time resident of Connecticut. Vernon was the son of the late Hollis Vernon and Jean Wilkes. He regularly attended the Black Rock Congregational Church of Fairfield, Connecticut and hosted a weekly Bible study. He also represented Connecticut in multiple Senior Olympic Games for both tennis and swimming events. A memorial service will be Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at the Cumming First United Methodist Church. Rimes McElveen will officiate. A reception will be held immediately following the service. He was a farmer, native of Warren County, and a member of the Green Hill Church of Christ. The funeral will be Friday at 1:00 p.m. at the Chapel of High Funeral Home in McMinnville. Homer Galyan will officiate and burial will be in the Webb cemetery at Bluff Springs in Warren County. Visitation will be Thursday from 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Friday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Survivors include his wife, Nan Flanders Hildreth of the Green Hill Community. Sons and daughters-in-law, Rikey and Gwen Hildreth, Garry Hildreth, and Danny and Ann Hildreth all of the Green Hill Community.
