Will E. "Bill" Midgett

85 year old Will E "Bill" Midgett of Dowelltown died Thursday at his residence. He was a retired owner of the DeKalb Drive-In Theater and a member of the Dry Creek Baptist Church. The funeral will be Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Donald Owens will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Friday from 2:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Vera Hobbs Midgett; his wife, Ella Midgett; a grandson, Eric Midgett; a sister, Tavie Woosley; and a brother, Carl Midgett. Survivors include two sons, Jimmy and his wife Lou Ann Midgett of Dowelltown and John and his wife Pamela Midgett of Alexandria. One daughter, Doris and her husband Benny Watts of Carthage. Three grandchildren, Jennifer and Frank Meyers of Lebanon, Mary Ann and Chris Smithson of Smithville, and Robin Watts of Carthage. Unborn great grandson, Morgan James Smithson of Smithville and a sister, Gladys Windell of Lebanon. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Charles Donald "Don" Howard

61 year old Charles Donald "Don" Howard of Walling died Wednesday at his residence. The funeral will be Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at the Spring Hill The Baptist Church. Burial will be in the Spring Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends after 4:00 p.m. Friday at Oak Lawn Funeral Home in Sparta. Survivors include his wife, Linda Humphrey Howard of Walling. A daughter, Nicole Farley and her husband Jason of Sparta. Two sons, Jeffery Howard and his wife Martha of Sparta and Bryan Howard and his wife Karen of Cookeville. One sister, Erlene Howard of Walling. Three grandchildren, Ethan Howard, Corri Beth Howard, and Madison Farley. Oak Lawn Funeral Home in Sparta is in charge of the arrangements. The family requests that donations be made, in lieu of flowers, to Linda Howard.

Jack W. Wall

70 year old Jack W. Wall of Smithville died Sunday at the Alvin C. York V.A. Medical Center in Murfreesboro. He was affiliated with the Methodist Church, and a member of the Moose Lodge, VFW, and AARP. Wall was a 24 year decorated war veteran, having retired from the U.S. Air Force, and he was a mechanic. The funeral will be Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Tim Ferguson will officiate and burial will be in the Keltonburg Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Thursday from noon until the time of the service at 2:00 p.m. He was preceded in death by his parents, Green and Maud Delong Wall. Survivors include his children, Becky and her husband Tye Mills of Aurora, Colorado; Kay Wall of Westminster, Colorado; Brenda and her husband Dave Houle of Tolland, Connecticutt; and Tom and his wife Kathy Wall of Smithville. Grandchildren, Lisa Desilets, Dave Astle, Sean Mills, Kim Metzger, Ken Houle, Kevin Houle, and Krystal Houle. Four great grandchildren. A brother, Thwaitt and his wife Kathleen Wall of Smithville. Sisters, Bobbye and her husband Norris Harrison; Melba and her husband Roy Lee Pedigo; Ann and her husband Carl Lee Webb; and Lynn and her husband Douglas Cantrell all of Smithville. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.

Robert Edward Moss

83 year old Robert Edward Moss of Woodbury died Tuesday of a short illness at Centennial Hospital. He was a DeKalb County native, a World War II Army veteran, and retired from the V.A. in Murfreesboro. A graveside service will be held Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Bobby Nichols will officiate. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Alice Bryant Moss. Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Louise Moore Moss of Woodbury. A sister, Eva Gray Youngblood of Woodbury. Nieces, Cortilla and her husband Donald Fann of Woodbury; Kathleen Dunn of Phoenix, Arizona; Betty Depew of Midland, Texas; and Linda Eller of Chattanooga. Several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews also survive. Woodbury Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Dorothy Mae Haynes

76 year old Dorothy Mae Haynes of Alexandria died Saturday at her residence. She was a DeKalb County native, Methodist, and a homemaker. The funeral will be Monday at 4:00 p.m. at Hunter Funeral Home in Watertown. Burial will be in the Commerce Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. and Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ben Thomas Haynes; a son, Michael Lynn Haynes; a granddaughter, Jennifer Haynes; and her parents, Berry and Jennie Gilley Driver. Survivors include a daughter, Melonee and her husband Terry Payne of Alexandria. One son, Sammy R. Haynes of Alexandria. Three grandchildren, Angela Haynes and Nicholas and Brody Payne. Sisters, Faye Smith and Ann Williamson of Murfreesboro. Several nieces and friends also survive. Hunter Funeral Home in Watertown is in charge of the arrangements.

James Bartley Duke

81 year old James Bartley Duke of Lancaster died Monday at Cedars Health Care Center in Lebanon. He was a member of the Long Branch United Methodist Church, a farmer, and a school bus driver. The funeral will be Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Mark Miller will officiate and burial will be in Whorton Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday from noon until the time of the service at 2:00 p.m. He was preceded in death by his wives, Ruby Lee Hill Duke and Mable Duke; his parents, Homer and Beulah Putty Duke; and brothers, George Duke, Leon Duke, and Odell Duke. Survivors include sisters, Ruthine Hackey of Murfreesboro and Ruby Tisdale of Lebanon. Special caregiver and niece, Joyce Tolminson of Lebanon and numerous nieces and nephews. 80 year old Eugenia Agnes Dupius of Alexandria, a homemaker and caterer, died Monday at her residence. She was born in Windsor, Ontario Canada. The funeral will be Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at Saint Gregory's Catholic Church. Father Jim Bretl S.D.S. will officiate. Visitation will be Tuesday and Wednesday from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home .A Rosary will be Wednesday at 5:00 p.m. Visitation Thursday will be from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service at the church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Agnes Popieluch Kapustiac; her husband of 57 years, Edgar Hiram Dupius; and a sister, Helen Dzierkowski. Survivors include her children, Diane and husband Bjoern Papasian of Michigan, Denise and husband Robert Snyder of Alexandria, Daniel and wife Diane Dupius of Michigan, and Darlene and husband John Thomas of Murfreesboro. Grandchildren, Megan and husband Ross Broodwell and Loren Papasian all of Michigan, Bryan and wife Elizabeth Kleparek of Murfreesboro, Dylan and wife La Tonya Kleparek of Smithville, Joe and wife Sara Fry of Smithville, Sarah and husband Randy Cook of Franklin, Daniel and wife Kim Snyder of Algood, Robbie Snyder of Cookeville, Haley Snyder of Alexandria, Michael Tyler Thomas and Stephen Thomas both of Murfreesboro. Eleven great grandchildren; a brother, Edward and his wife Louise Kapustiac of Canada; and a brother-in-law, Ronald Dzierkowski. Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria is in charge of the arrangements.

69 year old Gentry Allen Gay of Smithville died Thursday at his residence. He was a member of the Church of God and a life-long nurseryman. The funeral will be Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Ricky Arnold will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at 1:00 p.m. He was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Lizzie Taylor Gay; a brother, Homer Gay; and sisters, Annie Sparkman, Pauline James, Bertha Klaus and Dorothy Presley. He is survived by caregiver and former wife, Corinna Flanders; grandchildren, Dee Callis, Roger West, Jon Flanders, Natalie Flanders, Olivia Flanders, Chris Flanders, Lauren Anderson, and Brent Bain; brothers, John Gay of McMinnville and James Gay of Lewisburg; sisters, Chloe Caldwell of Smithville, Virgie Colwell of Lawrenceburg, and Ruby West of McMinnville. Many great and great-great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, and special friends Bob and Gail Flanders, Bill and Nancy Flanders, Joe and Frances Bain also survive. 83 year old Eva Reynolds of Alexandria, a factory worker, died Thursday at Centennial Hospital in Nashville. She was born in Germany and was an avid gardener and bird watcher. The funeral will be Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria. Junior Ellis will officiate and burial will be in the Hillview Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the service time at 2:00 p.m. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ben Satter; her husband of 22 years, Charles E. Reynolds; and a brother and sister. Survivors include a son, Eddie Reynolds of Alexandria and many friends and neighbors. Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria is in charge of the arrangements.

62 year old Eva Dale Prater Redman died Saturday at Erlanger Health System in Chattanooga. She was born in Sparta but was a resident of Smithville. She was preceded in death by her parents, Woodrow Carroll and Christine Waggoner Prater and two brothers, Roger and Dean Prater. The funeral will be Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home. Sam Davis will officiate and burial will be in the Corinth Cemetery. The family will receive friends after 5:00 p.m. Tuesday. She is survived by her daughter, Darla and husband Todd Guess of Smithville. Two sons, Aaron Young and W.L. Young of Indiana. Grandchildren, Christina and Gregory Mayo. Great grandchild, Aidan Guess. One sister, Jean and husband Gary Brymer of Quebeck. Six brothers, Dennis and wife Rosell Prater of Baxter, Lester and wife Pat Prater of Sparta, Ronnie and wife Doris Prater of Sparta, Alston and wife Portia Prater of Sparta, Glenn Prater of Sparta, and Stevie and wife Dimple Prater of Sparta.
