Jairon D. Spencer

67 year old Jairon D. Spencer of McMinnville died Thursday at his daughter's residence. He was a member of the Church of Christ and a former employee of Goodyear, Vaughn Nursery, and Haley Nursery. The funeral will be Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Keith Young will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Saturday from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Sunday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 2:00 p.m. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Dewey and Ocie Curtis Spencer. He is survived by daughters, Chancy and her husband Matthew Woodside of McMinnville and Marcy and her husband Joe Cherry of King George, Virginia. Grandchildren, Justice, Garrett, Kate, Joseph, Rebekah, Jonathan, and David. Sisters and brothers-in-law, Marjorie and husband Ray Terrell of Hermitage and Montie and husband Bass Estes of Smithville. Several nieces and nephews also survive. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. Donations may be made, in lieu of flowers, to the Kidney Foundation, in memory of Mr. Spencer.

J.W. Pollard

75 year old J.W. Pollard of the Peeled Chestnut Community died Sunday at DeKalb Community Hospital. He was the former owner of BeeJay Apparel, Incorporated, Pollard Enterprises, Hummingbird Aircraft Charter Service, a partner in Sligo Boat Dock and FBO operator of the Sparta White County Airport and Pollard Farms. Pollard was a U.S. Army veteran and he attended the Smithville Church of God. The funeral will be Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Michael Farr and Robin Phillips will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Monday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.; Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. and from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.; and Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 1:00 p.m. He was preceded in death by his parents, James W. and Beulah Mosley Pollard, Sr.; his father and mother-in-law, Casto and Josie Puckett; sister-in-law, Donavee Puckett; brother-in-law, Glynn Webb; a nephew, Jeff Garrett; and a great nephew, Josiah Graden Kirksey. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Bettye Puckett Pollard of the Peeled Chestnut Community of DeKalb County. Brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Morris Puckett of Sparta, Marie Webb, Keith and Hilda Garrett, Jerry and Carolyn Tramel, and Gail Kirksey. Nieces, Nena Daily, Tina Puckett, and Martha Kirksey. Nephews, Scott and his wife Kelly Garrett, Todd and his wife Sharon Webb, Chris and his wife Bethany Tramel, Josh and his wife Leslie Tramel, and Graden and his wife Sabrina Kirksey. Great nieces and nephews, Claire Garrett, Aaron Puckett, Austin and Sloane Garrett, Katie and Sam Daily, Anna and Cynthia Webb, Andrew and Carson Tramel and Silas Kirksey. Special cousins, Vern and Erma Hawn, Frances Hernandez, and Brook and Pam Townsend. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. The family asks that donations be made to either the Jeff Garrett Scholarship Fund or to the Smithville Church of God.

Ruby Louise Martin Estes

68 year old Ruby Louise Martin Estes of the Cedar Grove community of Bedford County died Thursday. A native of DeKalb County, Estes was a daughter of the late John Hobert and Daisy Belle Clayborn Martin. She was a homemaker and attended Cedar Grove United Methodist Church. The funeral will be Sunday at 3:00 p.m. at Love - Cantrell Funeral Home in Smithville. Visitation at Love - Cantrell Funeral Home will be Sunday from 10:00 a.m. until service time. Burial will follow in Wood cemetery at Short Mountain. Visitation Saturday will be from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Lawrence Funeral Home in Chapel Hill. She is survived by three daughters; Doris McCormick of McMinnville, Donna Fulton of Jamestown, and Gail Perryman of the Cedar Grove community of Bedford County. Six sisters; Ginger Steinbeck of Smithville, Peggy Smith of Nashville, Carolyn Sanders of Henderson, TX, Nadine Ferrell of Woodbury, Jimmy Earl Beecham of Smithville, and Lois Hale of Lebanon. Two brothers, Billy and James Martin of Smithville. Nine grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren also survive. Lawrence Funeral Home in Chapel Hill is in charge of the arrangements.

Mary Z. Jackson

96 year old Mary Z. Jackson of Lancaster died Wednesday morning at DeKalb Community Hospital. She was a Catholic and a homemaker. A graveside service will be Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Priest Jim Bretl will officiate. Visitation will be Friday from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. at which time the body will be taken to the cemetery for the graveside service. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clarence Jackson; a daughter, Nancy Jackson Wildmon; and brothers and sisters. She is survived by her son, Tom Jackson of the Dale Ridge Community; grandchildren, Debbie Wildmon Bell and Eric Wildman; great grandchildren, Astrid and Aylin Bell, Jacob and Ethan Wildmon; a nephew, Michael Zane and nieces, Barbara and Patty Drillion. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.

Mary Irene Robinson Shaw

88 year old Mary Irene Robinson Shaw of Dandridge, Tennessee died Wednesday. She was a member of Green Hill Baptist Church. Shaw was preceded in death by her mother and father, and all her Robinson siblings of McMinn and Meigs County; grandson, Michael A. Shaw of Smithville, and husband, Reverend Kyle Shaw of Dandridge. Mrs. Shaw is survived by four sons, Don and wife Margie of Dandridge, Bill and wife Linda of Smithville, Bob and wife Judy of Rutledge, and Stan and wife Tina of Jefferson City. Fourteen grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and a host of friends. The funeral service will be held at 8:00 p.m. Friday at the Farrar Dandridge Chapel with. Earl Hughes, Jerry Colbert and Bill Shaw officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. prior to the service. Family and friends will meet at 9:00 a.m. Saturday morning at the funeral home to proceed to Hillcrest cemetery for a 10:00 a.m. graveside service.

Paulette Ann Estes

54 year old Paulette Ann Estes of Smithville died Sunday at her sister's residence. She was afilliated with the Clark's Chapel Baptist Church. She was also a housekeeper with Bridgeway Motel for 36 years. The funeral will be Monday at 4:00 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. David Gann will officiate and burial will be in the Blues Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 11:00 a.m. until the service at 4:00 p.m. She was preceded in death by her mother, Rebecca Cantrell and her husband, Alford Estes. Survivors include her father, James Bandy of Smithville. An aunt, Haddie Adcock of McMinnville. One brother, Johnny Cantrell of Smithvile. Four sisters, Deanna and husband Jerry Brooks, Tammy and husband Jerry Maynard, Tonya and husband Rocky Menix, and Michelle and husband Tim Snipes all of Smithville. Several nieces and nephews also survive. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.

Vernon Vaughn

51 year old Vernon Vaughn of Dowelltown died Monday at his residence. He was a carpenter. The funeral will be Thursday at 3:00 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Charles Ray will officiate. The family has chosen cremation after the funeral service. Visitation will be Thursday from 11:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. Vaughn was preceded in death by his parents, Bobby Walker and Myrtle Christine Potts Vaughn; and a sister, Sandra Kay Harper. Survivors include his children, James Andrew and wife Misty Vaughn and Bobby Walker Vaughn both of Murfreesboro and Frances Christine Nesbit of Lebanon. A grandchild, Jude Andrew Vaughn. Sisters, Judy Youngblood of Smithville and Linda Potts of Arizona. Brothers, Wayne Vaughn, Kenneth Vaughn, Billy Vaughn, and Ricky Vaughn. A host of nieces and nephews also survive. Myrtle Colwell

87 year old Myrtle Colwell of Smithville died Friday at her residence. She was a homemaker and a member of the New Life Pentecostal Church. The funeral will be Monday at 11:00 a.m. at Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Dwayne Cornelius will officiate and burial will be in the Adcock Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.; Sunday from 10:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m.; and Monday from 9:00 a.m. until the service at 11:00 a.m. She was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Susie Campbell Usrey; her husband, Dallas Colwell; one grandson, David Crook; a son-in-law, Jackie Daniel; a daughter-in-law, Ann Colwell; step-mother, Mary Ellen Usrey. Survivors include six daughters, Charlie Mai Daniel, Mary and husband Ronnie Bates, Frances and husband Eddie McGuire, and Tena Colwell all of Smithville, Teresa and husband Jerry Pack of Livingston, and Barbara and husband Keith Huling of Smithville. Four sons, Alton and wife Christine Colwell, Albert and wife Mary Colwell, Delbert and wife Elizabeth Colwell all of Smithville, and Roy and wife Debbie Colwell of Murfreesboro. Nineteen grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild. Four half-sisters, Barbara Goodwin of Sparta, Rosie Skiba of Florida, Mary Lynch of Lebanon, Sue Grindstaff of Alabama. Two half-brothers, Erby Usrey of Mississippi and Jim Usrey of Sparta. Candace Gayle Dodd

29 year old Candace Gayle Dodd of Woodbury died Thursday at her home of a short illness. She was born in DeKalb County. Dodd was also a member of the Church of Christ. The funeral will be Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Woodbury Funeral Home. Weldon Parkinson will officiate and burial will be in the Sycamore Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Her parents are Connie Dodd Ashford of Woodbury and the late Steve Landon Goodwin. Grandparents are Loretta Dodd of Woodbury and the late Kenneth Dodd; and Louise Goodwin of Liberty and the late Walter Goodwin. Dodd is survived by a brother, Cory Chapman of Nashville. A sister, Rachel Goodwin of Smithville. Special niece, Morgan Hale of Woodbury. Aunts and uncles, Rose Nokes of Liberty, Paulette and Steve Osment of Woodbury, Kendall and Mark Duggin of Auburntown and Kathy Ellis of Liberty. The funeral will be Friday at 2:00 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Robert Shepherd, Jr. and Ronnie Dunn will officiate and burial will be in Dodson's Branch Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 11:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 2:00 p.m. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Helen Hiedenrich Titcombe and a brother, Ralph "Butch" Titcombe. Survivors include four children, Steve and wife Debbie Allen of Gainesboro, Donna Greer of Smithville, Carol and husband Lonnie Brown of Smithville, and Claudette Caldwell of McMinnville. Grandchildren, Amanda Dyer, Matthew Dyer, Earl Allen, Joey Allen, Jason Allen, Sue Knight, Sandra Knight, Ashley Boner, Cody Boner, Lonnie Brown, Shanna Brown, and Andrew Caldwell. Fourteen great grandchildren. A brother, Jerry Wilmoth of Indiana. Very special friend, Lisa Brown. Two sisters-in-law, Frances Shepherd and Sue Dunn and a host of nieces and nephews. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
