Ruby Lee Taylor

79 year old Ruby Lee Taylor of Smithville died Monday at DeKalb Community Hospital. She was a homemaker and a Methodist. The funeral will be Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Bobby Charles Martin and Michael Hale will officiate and burial will be in the Snow Hill Baptist Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 2:00 p.m. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jerry and Nannie Ray Trusty; sisters, Mazelle Gunter, Virginia Keaton, and Ruthene Murphy; and a brother, Hoyte Trusty. Survivors include her husband, Doyle Taylor of Smithville. Three children, Jeanette and her husband Cliff Stephens of Pegram, Patricia James Keeley of Mount Juliet, and Tony and his wife Donna Taylor of Ashland City. Five grandchildren, Richie Allen, Christi McDonald, Stoney Keeley, Brandi Scott, and Chelsea Taylor. Four great grandchildren, Cody Allen, Maddux McDonald, Makenna McDonald, and Aiden Scott. Brother-in-law, Solon Taylor. Sisters-in-law, Jo and her husband Frank Parton of Smithville and Barbara and her husband James Fuson of Nashville, and Patty Trustee of Nashville. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.

James Calvin Knowles

61 year old James Calvin Knowles of Centertown died Sunday at Saint Thomas Hospital in Nashville of a brief illness. He was born in DeKalb County, a Baptist, and was a truck driver for the Batesville Casket Company. The funeral will be Wednesday at 3:00 p.m. at the Chapel of High Funeral Home in McMinnville. Michael Farr and Jeff Crips will officiate and burial will be in the Smyrna Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the service. He is survived by his wife, Brenda McCormick Knowles of Centertown. Four children and their spouses, Darrell and Sandy Knowles of Smithville, Becky and David Sullins of Rock Island, Dena and Tom Tanner of Centertown, and Jerry Beaty of Centertown. Seven grandchildren, Miranda and James Barkve of Tullahoma, Ashley Knowles and Natasha Driver both of Rock Island, Kaitom and Drew Tanner of Centertown, and Breanna and Britney Knowles of Smithville. One great grandchild, J.J. Smith of Tullahoma. Three brothers and sisters-in-law, Gerald and Altie Knowles, Donnie and Donna Kay Knowles, and Melvin and Teresa Knowles all of Smithville. Four sisters and brothers-in-law, Stella Dyer of Smithville, Faye Cole of Sparta, Linda and Steve Hale, and Anita and Eddie Moore all of Smithville. His step-mother, Sarah Knowles of McMinnville. Several nieces, nephews, and great nieces, and great nephews also survive. High Funeral Home in McMinnville is in charge of the arrangements.

Martha Linder Caldwell

68 year old Martha Linder Caldwell of Smithvlle died Monday at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. She was a Baptist and was retired from Kingston Timer. The funeral will be Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Michael Hale will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 4:00 p.m. She was preceded in death by her parents, Classie James and Flossie Bain Linder; a son, James Clinton Gregory; and a brother, J.C. Linder. Survivors include her husband, Hoyte Caldwell of Smithville. A daughter, Brenda and her husband Authur Aguilera of Indiana. Sons, Randy and his wife Debbbie Gregory of Westmoreland and Daniel Caldwell of New Jersey. Six grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Nine brothers, Joe Linder of Indiana, Carl and his wife Margaret Linder of Alexandria, Virginia; Bill and his wife Ruth, Johnny Buford, and Bobby and his wife Peggy Linder all of Smithville; Norman and his wife Gennie Linder of Lafayette; Wayne and his wife Vicky Linder of Hartsville; Jackie Linder of Gallatin; and Larry and his wife Jean Linder of Rock Island. Two sisters, Ruby Gerard and Helen and her husband Rudy Holler. Several nieces, nephews, and special sister-in-law, Carolyn Caldwell of Smithville. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.

Frank Jennings Cope

92 year old Frank Jennings Cope of Smithville died Friday night of an extended illness at his residence. He was a member of the Keltonburg United Methodist Church, a U.S. Air Force Veteran, a retired Landscape Engineer, and a member of the American Legion and VFW. The funeral will be Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Michael Hale will officiate and burial will be in the Keltonburg cemetery with Military Honors. Visitation will be Tuesday from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 1:00 p.m. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Eugene; and a sister, Ruth. He is survived by his wife, Donna Marie Cope of Smithville. Three children, Marsha Fleer, Patricia Landrum, and Richard Cope. Three step-children, Barbara Gohs, and William and James Sanders. Numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and step-grandchildren along with three sisters, Ophalene Cantrell, Nell Cantrell, and Sarah Cope. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.

Charles Allen "Chuck" Foster

56 year old Charles Allen "Chuck" Foster of Chesterfield, Michigan and a native of DeKalb County died Wednesday morning at Mt. Clemons Regional Medical Center. Foster was a retired truck driver and a U.S. Army veteran. The funeral will be Sunday at 2:00 PM at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Burial in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Michael Hale will officate. He was preceded in death by his father Toy B. Foster and a brother Douglas Foster. He is survived by his wife Linda L. Foster of Chesterfield, Michigan. A daughter Jennifer Foster of Denver, Colorado. A great grand-daughter Gabriella. Three step children Barney Cook and Darin Cook of Chesterfield, Michigan and Constance Domutz of Warren Michigan Step grandchildren Jacob Cook and Brandon Domutz. His mother Myrtle Leonard of Dowelltown. A brother Robert Wheelock of Smithville. Sisters Rita and Kathy of Smithville. and several aunts, uncles and cousins. Visitation will be Sunday from 1:00 PM untill the time of services at 2:00 PM. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.

John Rickey "Bumper Jack" Brown

51 year old John Rickey "Bumper Jack" Brown of Smithville died Thursday at his residence. He was in the Ready Mix Construction business. The family will have a private funeral at the request of Mr. Brown. Trent Colwell will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Cemetery. He was preceded in death by his mother Margie Brown; two brothers, Carl Freeman Brown and Roscoe Brown; and a sister, Judy Louise Brown. He is survived by a daughter, Amber Dawn Brown of Celina. Five brothers, Glen and his wife Vonda Brown, Curtis and his wife Cathy Brown, Hoss and his wife Holly Brown, Lonnie and his wife Carol Brown, and Bruce Brown all of Smithville. Two sisters, Dorothy and her husband Gary Sanders of Woodbury and Jean Brown of Smithville. His dad, J.B. Brown of Celina. One grandson, Tyler Sharp of Celina. Two special nieces and nephews, Halea Brown and Dustin Brown both of Smithville. Several other nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles and a host of CB friends. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. The family asks that donations please be made to Love-Cantrell Funeral Home to help with funeral expenses.

Nettie Maurene Parsley

89 year old Nettie Maurene Parsley of Smithville died Wednesday night at the Quality Care Health Center in Lebanon. She was a homemaker and attended the Cumberland Presbyterian Church. The funeral will be Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Franklin Bratcher will officiate and burial will be in the Bethel Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 10:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the service at 11:00 a.m. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Parsley; five brothers, E.J., Manuel, Robert, Charlie, and Ben Taylor; and a sister, Elizabeth Sandlin. Survivors include a daughter, Ollie Mai Parsley of Madison. Two sons, David and his wife Connie Parsley and Bill and his wife Janice Parsley of Smithville. Three grandchildren, Bruce and his wife Elizabeth Parsley of Smithville, Bridgett and her husband Aaron Lloyd of Pikeville, and B.K. and his wife Kim Parsley of Illinois. Six great grandchildren, Jacob, Katherine, and Kristen Parsley of Smithville, Hank Parsley of Illinois, and Samuel and John Aaron Lloyd of Pikeville. Two brothers, Tommy and his wife Geneva Taylor of Smithville and Aubrey and his wife Polly Taylor of Lavergne. Two sisters, Emma Lee Johnson and Wilma Redmon of Smithville. Andrew Bert Horvath

59 year old Andrew Bert Horvath of Smithville died Saturday at the V.A. Hospital in Murfreesboro. He was an Aircraft Fabricator with AVCO. Horvath was also a U.S. Army veteran and served in Vietnam. A memorial visitation will be Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Elmridge cemetery in Muncie, Indiana. He was preceded in death by his father, Bert Horvath; a daughter, Andrea Horvath; a brother, Gary Horvath; and his mother-in-law, Jane Cook. Survivors include his wife, Janie Cook Horvath of Smithville. A daughter, Missy Sawyer and a granddaughter, Carolynne Sawyer both of Florida. His mother and step-father, Freda Horvath and Rolland Canada and a sister, Dianne Hill all of West Virginia. A brother, Gene and his wife Sharon Horvath of Washington. A sister-in-law, Brenda Horvath of West Virginia and his father-in-law, Johnny Hugo Cook of Smithville. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. The family asks that donations be made, in lieu of flowers, to the Ronald McDonald House, Saint Jude Children's Hospital, the VFW, or to the American Legion.

47 year old Phillip David Lack of Murfreesboro died Saturday at NHC of Lewisburg. He was born in Rutherford County and was the son of the late Charles Edward and Barbara McCullough Lack. He was a member of the Baptist Church and a former owner and operator of Express Lube on Broad Street in Murfreesboro.The funeral will be Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at Woodfin Memorial Chapel in Murfreesboro. David Ash and Marvin Davis will officiate and burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. He is survived by a daughter, Danielle Lack of Murfreesboro. A son, Alan Lack of Smithville. Sisters, Suzette Robertson and her husband Calvin of Murfreesboro and Vickie Lack and her husband Chris Kanemitsu of Georgetown, Indiana. Several nieces and nephews also survive. 83 year old Helen Ofallon Malone of Alexandria, a garment factory worker, died Sunday at DeKalb Community Hospital. She was a DeKalb County native and a Baptist. The funeral will be Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at the Chapel of Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria. Leonard Herman will officiate and burial will be in Hillview Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. She was preceded in death by her parents, Vernon and Belvie Herman Hale; her husband, Hubert Bratten Malone; a son, Dwight Malone; a sister, Morene Scott; and brothers, James Hale and Kenneth Hale. Survivors include a grandson Bradley Malone, brothers and sisters, Elizabeth Scott of Cottontown, Inez Anderson, Willette Hale, Jack and his wife Aundra Hale, and Betty and her husband Charles Clayborn all of Alexandria. A sister-in-law, Frances Scott of Whitehouse and several nieces and nephews. Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria is in charge of the arrangements.
