Jack Gaston Rhody

70 year old Jack Gaston Rhody of Smithville died Monday. He was a retired Machinist. The funeral will be Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Terry Little and Craig Mahler will officiate and burial will be in the Snow Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 2:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 1:00 p.m. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert L "Bob" and Lillie Mai Waller Rhody; a son, Jim Rhody; and a brother, Billy Rhody. Survivors include his wife, Nina Rhody of Smithville. Sons, Jack and his wife Pam Rhody of Smithville, Kevin and his wife Amy Rhody of Smithville, Danny Rhody of Smithville, and a daughter, Kathy Rhody of Smithville. Step-children, Gary and his wife Renee Johnson of Smithville and Angel and her husband Randall Mahler of Sparta. Grandchildren, Weston and Courtney Rhody, Alex and Rachel Rhody, and Whitley Rhody. Step-grandchildren, Craig Allen Mahler and Cathleen and her husband J.D. Humphrey. A great grandchild, Sydney Popovic. A step-great-grandson Jaxon Humphrey. A brother, Boyd and his wife Maxine Rhody of Smithville. A sister-in-law, June Rhody of Smithville. An aunt, Mary Snow of Smithville. Several nieces and nephews also survive. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. The family requests that donations be made, in lieu of flowers, to Justin Potter Library.

(J.W.) Jim William Hale

69 year old (J.W.) Jim William Hale of Woodbury died Sunday at Middle Tennessee Medical Center. He was born in Bedford County. Hale was also a mechanic, a farmer, and a member of the Church of God. The funeral will be Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Woodbury Funeral Home. Freddy Curtis and Al Bugg, Jr. will officiate and burial will be in the Banks Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Emmer Lawson Hale; a daughter, Lisa Darlene Hale; a grandson, Brenton Clay Hale; and a sister, Veonna Hale Byford. Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Joyce Brown Hale of Woodbury. Two daughters, Pamela and her husband Mike Horne of Oklahoma and Gail and her husband Mark Jones of Woodbury. A son, Tommy and his wife Mary Hale of Woodbury. Grandchildren, Scott and April Horne of Oklahoma, Jacob and Justin Horne of Woodbury, Jay Hale of Woodbury, Cassandra and Nick Morris of Oklahoma, Megan Hale of Woodbury, and Gabriell Jones of Woodbury. Three great grandchildren, Aaron and Jordan Horne and Destinyi Horne. One sister, Dorothy and her husband George Jones of McMinnville. Woodbury Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Opal Hale

76 year old Opal Hale of Smithville died Thursday at DeKalb Community Hospital. She was retired from DeKalb General Hospital and a member of the Mount Herman Baptist Church. The funeral will be Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Dave Carden will officiate and burial will be in Whorton Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 10:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the service at 1:00 p.m. She was preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Mai Patterson; her husband, William "Junior" Hale; a sister, Erma Underwood; and a brother, Doris Patterson. Survivors include a brother, Carmon Patterson of Florida. Several nieces and nephews. Several great nieces and great nephews. Brothers-in-law, Austin Billings of Murfreesboro and Joe Underwood of Smithville. Sisters-in-law, Lorene Hale, Martha Bluhm, and Evelyn Taylor all of Smithville. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Randall L. Geren

86 year old Reverend Randall L Geren of Cleveland died Monday. He was an ordained minister in the Church of God and was an evangelist for over 20 years and served in pastoral ministry for over 35 years. He was a member of the North Cleveland Church of God and a member of the Unity Sunday School Class. Geren was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Melba Marie Geren; parents, Jim and Dovie Geren; two brothers, Rev. Gilbert Geren and James Geren; two sisters, Dorothy Gill and Mildred Neeley; one granddaughter, Jamie Marie Geren. He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Linda Geren of Decatur. Two daughters and son-in-law, Charlotte Casteel of Cleveland and Tammy and Thomas White of Smithville. Five grandchildren, Rocky Casteel and wife, Stacey, Hollie Geren Rapello and husband, Paul, Randy Lewis Geren, Lacey Nicole Duke and husband, Patrick, and Lindsey Marie White. Three great grandchildren, Hannah Daily Casteel, Caroline Grace Casteel and Charlotte Marie Rapello. Several nieces and nephews also survive. The service will be Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. at the North Cleveland Church of God with Dr. G. Dennis McGuire, Mitch Maloney and Marshall Roberson officiating. Burial will follow in Hilcrest Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the church. John Tittle, Jr.

73 year old John Tittle, Jr. of Dowelltown died Sunday at DeKalb Community Hospital. He was a Baptist and a mechanic. The funeral will be Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Ben Fuston will officiate and burial will be in the Petty Cemetery. Vistation will be Monday from noon until 9:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the service at 1:30 p.m. He was preceded in death by his parents, John, Sr. and Lizzie Jennings Tittle; his wife, Helen Rogers Tittle; a son, William Tittle; a daughter, Rita Fay Tittle; two brothers, Henry and Jack Tittle; and three sisters, Rosie Murphy, May Tittle, and Betty Linnear. Survivors include three daughters, Lou Ann Wilkerson of Grant, Tennessee, and Darlene Cantrell and Teresa Hallback both of Dowelltown. Six sons, Thomas Tittle of Watertown, Joe Tittle of Smithville, James Tittle of Hickman, Raymond and Charlie Tittle both of Dowelltown, and Randy Tittle of Liberty. Ninteen grandchildren, ten great grandchildren. Three sisters, Lee Cassity of Alexandria, Charlene Rogers of Watertown, and Ruth Linnear of Portland. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Mary Frances Hale

81 year old Mary Frances Hale of Dowelltown died Sunday night at DeKalb Community Hospital of an extended illness. She was a member of the Fuller's Chapel United Methodist Church, a retired factory worker, and a homemaker. The funeral will be Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Perry Clayton, Donald Owens, and Wayne Malone will officiate and burial will be in Salem Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.; Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m.; and Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until the service at 1:00 p.m. Hale was preceded in death by her parents, Rastis and Tinnie Lee Neal and a sister, Myrtle May Neal. She is survived by her husband of 45 years, James E. Hale of Dowelltown; a son, Randy Hale and his wife Trina Hale of Goodlettsville. Grandchildren, Christina and Vanessa Hale of Goodlettsville. A brother Paul and his wife Jean Neal of Liberty and a sister, Billie and her husband Houston Herman of Nashville. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.

Thomas J. Adams

78 year old Thomas J. Adams of Mount Juliet died Friday at Saint Thomas Hospital in Nashville. He was a Sumner County native and a factory worker. The funeral will be Monday at 2:00 p.m. at Hunter Funeral Home in Watertown. Jeff Wilson will officiate and burial will be in the Jennings Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Brenda Jo Adams; his parents, Thomas Elzy Adams and Loni Frances Allen Adams; two sisters; and two brothers. He is survived by four children, Dennis and his wife Carlene Adams of Hermitage, Glenda and her husband Brodie Anderson of Old Hickory, Gayle Wright of Statesville, and Louann and her husband Dickey Sanders of Smithville. Sixteen grandchildren, twenty six great grandchildren, and a sister, Lorena Watson of Tower Hill, Illinois. Hunter Funeral Home in Watertown is in charge of the arrangements.

Roy R. Colburn, III

40 year old Roy R. Colburn, III of Dowelltown died Saturday night at DeKalb Community Hospital from injuries he received in a traffic accident. He was employed by Tim's Truck Service and a member of the Church of God. The funeral will be Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Dewey Dyer will officiate and burial will be in the Cannady Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until the service at 11:00 a.m. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, James B. McQueary; an uncle, Charles McQueary; and his step-father, Arzo Kennedy. Survivors include his wife, Anna Brown Colburn and two sons, Bradley and Brady Colburn all of Smithville. His mother, Sharon Kennedy of Dowelltown. His father, Roy Colburn, Jr of Georgia. His maternal grandmother, Helen McQueary of Dowelltown. A sister, Rhonda Cole and a brother, Stephen Kennedy both of Smithville. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Steve Landon Goodwin

48 year old Steve Landon Goodwin of Liberty died Sunday at DeKalb Community Hospital. He was a carpenter and a member of the Congregational Methodist Church. The funeral will be Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Mark Miller will offciate and burial will be in the Dismal Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until the service at 3:30 p.m. He was preceded in death by his father, Walter Landon Goodwin. Survivors include two daughters, Candace Dodd of Woodbury and Rachel Goodwin of Smithville. His mother, Louise Driver Goodwin; a sister and brother-in-law, Kathy Ellis and Russell Estes; a niece, Natosha Reinhart; and a great niece, Autumn Reinhart all of Liberty. Several aunts, uncles, and cousins also survive. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. The family has asked that donations be made to Love-Cantrell Funeral Home for funeral expenses, in lieu of flowers.

Steve Mabe, Sr.

51 year old Steve Mabe, Sr. of Alexandria died Saturday at Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga. He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Steve, Jr. and Rachel Mabe of Smithville. Grandchildren, Heath Mabe and Lance Mabe. His mother, Helen Mabe Van Strander and his step-father, Richard Van Strander of Alexandria. A brother, Larry Mabe and his wife Janet and their children, Monica Mabe and Tabitha Mabe. Several uncles and aunts also survive. The body is at Avant Funeral Home in Alexandria where the funeral will be Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. David Dunn and Glenn Ramsey will officiate. Burial will be in the Brush Creek Cemetery. The Mabe family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. until the service at 2:00 p.m. Avant Funeral Home in Alexandria is in charge of the arrangements.
