Dana Elizabeth LaFever

36 year old Dana Elizabeth LaFever of Smithville died Sunday. She worked for emergency medical services. The funeral will be Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Tuesday from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. She is survived by her husband, Eugene LaFever of Smithville. One daughter, Sahara Bethany "Sara Beth" LaFever of Smithville. Parents, Joe and Joan Purkey of Knoxville. One brother, Scott Purkey of South Carolina. Maternal grandmother, Louise Williams of Kentucky. Parents-in-law, U.L. and Helen LaFever of Sparta. Local in-laws, Jack and Louisa Felts and Urias LaFever all of Sparta. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. The family asks that donations please be made to the Girl Scout Troop #01146, in lieu of flowers.

Nellie Mary Tyree

78 year old Nellie Mary Tyree of Statesville died Sunday at University Medical Center in Lebanon. She was retired from Texas Boot where she worked for 34 years. Tyree was born in Wilson County and she was a member of the Smith Fork Baptist Church. The funeral will be Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. at Hunter Funeral Home in Watertown. Eltis Brown and Allen Lyon will officiate and burial will be in Bartons Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. and prior to the service on Tuesday. She was preceded in death by her parents, James A. and Rosie Bayne Morris and an infant brother, James Albert Morris. Survivors include her husband, Jackie Tyree of Statesville. Children, Shirley and husband Stephen Cummings of Carthage, Charles Lee and wife Kelly Garner of Hartsville, Mary Lou Usrey of Lebanon, Sadie Francis and husband Richard Nichols of Watertown, Marie Abou-Rhma of Lebanon, and Lucy Ann and husband Bud Taylor of Westmoreland. Step-children, Diane and husband Jimmy Owen of Statesville, Jackie Sue and husband Robert Taylor of Lebanon, Azel and wife Doris Tyree of Statesville, and Josh and wife Carrie Tyree of Liberty. Twenty four grandchildren and thirty great grandchildren. Brothers, Charlie T. Morris of Watertown and John and wife Louise Morris of Lebanon. Sisters, Pauline and husband Kenneth Dodd of Smithville and Frances and husband Junior Dodd of Alexandria. Nieces and nephews also survive. Hunter Funeral Home in Watertown is in charge of the arrangements.

Helen Frances Puckett

74 year old Helen Frances Puckett of Smithville died Monday at Centennial Medical Center in Nashville. She was a beautician, retired substitute teacher, and a member of the Mount View The Baptist Church. The funeral will be Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Michael Hale will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 1:00 p.m. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alvie and Wilma Love Puckett. Survivors include nephews, Shawn and wife Angela Puckett, Randall Puckett, and Brian Puckett all of Smithville. Great nieces and nephews, Shawna and John, Josh, and Jacob. The family asks that donations be made, in lieu of flowers, to the Calvary Baptist Church. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.

Brenda Faye Turner Colgan

60 year old Brenda Faye Turner Colgan of Smithville died Friday at DeKalb Community Hospital. She was a homemaker and was employed at Texas Boot. Colgan was also a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church. The funeral will be Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Sunday from 10:30 a.m. until 9:00 p.m.; Monday from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m.; and Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until the service at 1:00 p.m. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Donnie Turner; her parents, Calvin and Virgie Blair; a brother, Eugene Blair; paternal grandparents, Frank and Provie Blair; and her maternal grandparents, Levert and Estelle Hubbard. Survivors include her husband, George A. Colgan of Smithville. A son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Tammy Turner of Smithville. Three step-sons, Keel Colgan and Trace Colgan both of Florida and Crede Colgan of North Carolina. One step-daughter, Kerri Wait of Minnesota. One brother, Paul Blair of Smithville. One sister, Wilodean Turner of Smithville. Grandchildren, Christian and Caitlin Turner of Smithville, Lea Colgan of Florida, Marcus and Daniel Enomoto of Minnesota, Kristin and Kaylee Colgan of Florida, and Colton Rhody of Smithville. Rocky Shane Harmon

38 year old Rocky Shane Harmon of Sneedville died Wednesday at his residence. Harmon, born in Smithville, attended grammar school in Oklahoma, Florida, and Short Mountain and he graduated from Cannon County High School. Harmon was also a member of the Stewart's Chapel Church of Christ in McMinnville. He is survived by his wife, Pheadra James Harmon of Sneedville. Two sons, London and Rocky Harmon of McMinnville. Two daughters, Vanessa Harmon of Liberty and Victoria Harmon of Short Mountain. Three step children, Kortni Fleenor, Tyler James, and Morgan Fleenor all of Sneedville. His mother, Michelle and husband Keith Slatton of Smithville. His father, Gary Harmon of Altamont. A brother, Stoney Harmon of Campaigne. Two sisters, Crystal Schulz of Murfreesboro and Shiney Gibbs of Smithville. Grandmother, Mary and husband Howard Gunter of Short Mountain. Grandfather, Earl Gassaway of Smithville. Aunt, Agness Byrd of McMinnville. Several other uncles, aunts, nieces, and nephews survive. A graveside service will be Sunday at 3:00 p.m. at the Blues Hill cemetery in Short Mountain. Carson Rust will officiate. 85 year old Ruby Jean Young of Smithville died Monday at DeKalb Community Hospital. She was a homemaker and a member of the Smithville Church of Christ. The funeral will be Thursday at 12:00 noon at the chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Dan Gulley will officiate and burial will be in Whorton Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the service at noon. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bailey and Irene Medlin Medley; a daughter, Gloria Jean Young; and a brother, Billy Medley. Survivors include her husband, James F. Young; a daughter, Angie and her husband Jeff Truelove of Franklin; a son, James D. and his wife Sherry Young of Springfield. Four grandchildren, Chris and Laura Young of Lebanon, Kelly and David White of South Carolina, Matt Young of Seymour, and Casey Truelove of California. Two great grandchildren, Caleb and Cameron Young of Lebanon. Love-Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Larry Eugene Rhoady, Jr.

29 year old Larry Eugene Rhoady, Jr. of Smithville died Monday at his residence. He was a U.S. Marine Veteran, having served in Iraq. The funeral will be Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in the Gath cemetery with military honors. Visitation will be Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Robert and Beverly Duffee. Survivors include two children, Austin Rhoady of Peatone, Illinois and Lila Kate Rhoady of Georgia. His mother, Maureen Mercer and her husband Steve of Sawyer, Michigan. His father, Larry Eugene, Sr. and his wife, Michelle Rhoady of Smithville. Sisters and brothers, Melissa Nicole Rhoady of Smithville, Jacob Rhoady, and Jenna Kate Rhoady both of Indiana, Nicholas Mercer, Kacie Mercer, and Benjamin Mercer all of Sawyer, Michigan. Step-brothers and step-sisters, Kristy Barber of Steger, Illinois, Curtis Lloyd and Tamra Lloyd both of Smithville, and James Randolph of McMinnville. Paternal grandparents, Boyd and Maxine Rhoady of Smithville. Several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews also survive. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.

93 year old John Ralph Wood of Smithville died Saturday at his residence. He was a member of the Smithville First Baptist Church and a retired employee of the City of Smithville as a Water Plant Operator. A graveside service and burial will be Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Mark Bass will officiate. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Eugene and Sarah Emaline Southern Wood; two sisters; and a brother. He is survived by his wife, Mary Sue Wood of Smithville. One son, Jeff Wood of Mount Juliet, and a nephew, L.B. Wood of Poteau, Oklahoma. DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.

He was a disabled veteran, a U.S. Army Vietnam Veteran, a member of the VFW and Phoenix Jaycees's, and he attended the Real Life Community Church. The funeral will be Saturday at 3:00 p.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Don Davidson and Michael Hale will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Memorial Gardens. Vistation will be Friday from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 3:00 p.m. He was preceded in death by his father, Haston Adcock and a brother, Ronald Adcock. Survivors include sons, Matt and his wife Monica Adcock of Maricopa, Arizona and Anthony Adcock of Smithville. His mother, Rose Adcock of Smithville. Brothers, Gary Adcock of Smithville, Eddie and his wife Kim Adcock of St. Clair Shores, Michigan, and Kenny Adcock of Chandler, Arizona. Grandchildren, Eddie and Mackenzie Adcock. An uncle, Don Redmon of Smithville. An aunt, Jesse Milton of Beloit, Wisconsin. A niece, Holly and her husband Dale Bryant. Nephews, Jonathon, Kory, and Kyle Adcock. 37 year old Kimberly Ann Roller of Rock Island died Wednesday at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville from injuries received in an automobile accident. She was a secretary at Rocky River Stone. Visitation will be Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe Bud and Sandra Sue Sexton Eldridge. She is survived by a daughter, Samantha Roller of Smithville. One son, Dakota Nicholas of Rock Island. Four sisters, Vickie Ramsey and Linda Rowland of Detroit, Michigan, Ronda Roberts of Bay, Arkansas and Jacqueline Ginter of Taylor, Michigan.
