Died: 02/03/2001
ROGERSVILLE -- Eloise Gladson Marion, age 84, Rogersville, died Saturday, Feb. 3, 2001, at Wellmont Hawkins County Memorial Hospital.

An active member of Rogersville First Baptist Church, she taught Sunday School in the children’s department for a number of years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, J.D. Marion; sisters, Sally Marion, Verdie Payne, Ina Collins, Dollie Gladson and Kizzie Tipton; brothers, Tommy Gladson and Charles H. Gladson; and parents, Abraham and Lucy Bentley Gladson.

She is survived by a son, Jeff Daniel Marion, Knoxville; grandchildren, Stephen Marion and wife Eugenia, Dandridge, and Rachel Franklin and husband Stuart, Rogersville; two great-grandchildren, Allison Franklin and Jenna Franklin, both of Rogersville; and a sister, Clara Marion, Rogersville.

Calling hours will be 6 - 8 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 4, 2001, at Broome Funeral Home, Rogersville.

Funeral services will be held 8 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 4, 2001, in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Charles C. Hobbs officiating. Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 5, 2001, at Hawkins County Memorial Gardens.

Ova Weston
Died: 02/03/2001
KYLES FORD -- Ova Mae DeBord Weston, age 92, Kyles Ford, died Saturday, Feb. 3, 2001, at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center following an extended illness.

She was saved at an early age at Compromise Baptist Church and later joined Davis Chapel Baptist Church where she was a faithful member until her death.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred M. Weston; parents, Perry and Maude DeBord; step-daughter, Lorraine Lawson; sisters, Madge Roberts and Inez Weston; brothers, Lee, Wayne, Charlie and Roy DeBord; and infant sisters, Bonnie and Betty Lou DeBord.

She is survived by step-daughters and sons-in-law, Emma (Jack) Anderson, Morristown, and Jackie (Bee) Castle, Eidson; step-sons and daughters-in-law, Ray Weston, Morristown, J.T. (Ruth) Weston, Kingsport, F.M. (Lillia) Weston, Kingsport, Paul (Tressie) Weston, Morristown, Louia (Charlsie) Weston, Morristown, and Lance (Ann) Weston, Kyles Ford; 16 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary Lamb, Kyles Ford, Irma Hartley, Rogersville, and Kate Wolfe, Eidson; brother, Howard (Belle) DeBord, Morristown; several nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Lois Gibson.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 5, 2001, at Davis Chapel Church with Revs. Earl Bowlin and Greg Ellison officiating. Interment will follow in the Weston Family Cemetery.

The body will be taken to the Davis Chapel Church 5 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 4, 2001, where friends may call until the service Monday.

Arrangements are under direction of Colboch-Price Funeral Home, Rogersville.

Nettie E. Liford
Died: 02/05/2001
ROGERSVILLE -- Nettie Eve Liford, age 86, Rogersville, died Monday, Feb. 5. 2001, at Indian Path Hospital.

She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a friend to all who knew her. She was a member of House Chapel Primitive Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Liford; parents, Jess and Ollie Helton; two grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and two brothers, Curtis and Carl Helton.

She is survived by two daughters, Marie Jessee Ray, Church Hill, and Dorothy Clifton, Rogersville; a son and daughter-in-law, Harold and Myra Liford, Rogersville; three sisters, Ruth Davis, Woleska Sisk, both of Church Hill, and Martha Smith, Rogersville; three brothers, Hugh Helton, Gale Helton and Bill Helton, all of Rogersville; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Calling hours will be 6 - 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2001, at Colboch-Price Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 8, 2001, at Colboch-Price Chapel with Revs. Ted Riner and Gordon Presley officiating. Interment will follow at Hawkins County Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Brady Gilliam, Cody Bradley, Brandon Trent, Bill Helton Jr., Bill Bailey and Richard Cooke. Honorary pallbearers will be Shawn Trent, Bill Helton Sr., and Harold Guthrie.

Grace L. Bellamy
Died: 02/06/2001
SURGOINSVILLE -- Grace Lochiel Rimer Bellamy, age 76, Surgoinsville, died Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2001, at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center, Wilcox Hall, following an extended illness.

She was born in Hawkins County and later moved to Charlotte, NC, where she was employed as a registered nurse for a number of years. She returned to Hawkins County following her retirement. She attended Longs Bend Missionary Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert McBride Bellamy; a daughter, Shirley Jo Bellamy; parents, Jim and Lura Cooke Rimer; and several brothers and sisters.

She is survived by a son, Ronald (Ronnie) Bellamy and wife Shirley, Surgoinsville; two grandchildren, Robert and Dorothy; three great-grandchildren; three sisters, May Bailey, Church Hill, Crattie Rimer, Rogersville, and Geraldine Drinnon, Surgoinsville; and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours are from 5 - 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 8, 2001, at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, Church Hill. Services will be held 7 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Fain Arnold and Pastor Donnie Anderson officiating. Music will be provided by the Anderson family.

Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 9, 2001, at First United Methodist Church Cemetery, Surgoinsville.

Family and friends who will be attending the graveside service are requested to meet at the cemetery by 10:50 a.m. Friday. Pallbearers will be family and friends.

Amanda B. Brewer
Died: 02/07/2001
BRISTOL -- Amanda Belle Brewer, age 101, formerly of Bristol, died Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2001, at Life Care in Elizabethton following an extended illness.

She was a member of Union Methodist Church, Eidson, and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.

She was preceded in death by her husband, E.A. Brewer; parents, William Asbury and Diana Lawson; two sons, Horace Brewer and G.W. Brewer; an infant child; 12 brothers and sisters; and a brother-in-law and spouse, Lloyd and Alice Brewer.

She is survived by her grandson, Randy W. Brewer, Erwin; a daughter-in-law, Nelia Lawson Brewer, Bristol; sister-in-law, Nellie Lawson, Eidson; and several great-grandchildren, niece and nephews.

The family will receive friends 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 9, 2001, with a brief service following at Colboch-Price Funeral Home, Rogersville. Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 10, 2001, at the Lawson Cemetery.

Virgie Christian
Died: 02/08/2001
SURGOINSVILLE -- Virgie Lee McPeek Christian, Surgoinsville, died Thursday, Feb. 8, 2001, at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center. She was born Sept. 27, 1919, and was saved at an early age. She was a member of Long Hollow Church and also attended Oak Dale Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Garland Christian; father, Billy McPeek; mother, Mary Williams McPeek; two brothers; and five sisters.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Ellen Christian, Surgoinsville; three daughters and sons-in-law, Joe and Gladys Duncan, Billy and Annette Duncan, both of Rogersville, Linda Sue Smith, Mooresburg; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a special friend, Janie Christian; a host of nieces, nephews and many friends and loved ones.

Friends may call any time at her residence and from 7 - 9 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 10, 2001, at Colboch-Price Funeral Home, Rogersville.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 11, 2001, at Long Hollow Church with Revs. Dewey Ward, Mark Holder and Harold Head officiating. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the services at the church. Interment will follow in Bethel Cemetery.

Emma C. Bechtel
Died: 10/07/2001
NEW OXFORD, PA -- Emma Catherine Bechtel, age 92, New Oxford, died Sunday, Oct. 7, 2001, at Hanover Hospital.

She was born Oct. 18, 1908, in Union Mills, MD. She was a member of St. Mary’s Lutheran Church, Silver Run, MD.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene A. Bechtel; and parents, J. Edward and Mary Cratin Stonesifer.

She is survived by two sons, Edward H. Bechtel, Westminster, MD, and Guy A. Bechtel Sr., Rogersville; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services, with Rev. Dr. H. Lee Brumback II officiating, will be private and at the convenience of the family.

Memorials may be made in her memory to the Visiting Nurse Association, 440 N. Madison St., Hanover, PA 17331.

Arrangements are under direction of Wetzel Funeral Home, Hanover.

Marion F. Robinette
Died: 10/07/2001
GREENEVILLE -- Marion Franklin Robinette, age 50, Greeneville, died Sunday, Oct. 7, 2001, at his residence.

He was a member of Marion Robinette Memorial Primitive Baptist Church and was a self-employed building contractor. He was a Vietnam War veteran, having served in the U.S. Navy Sea Bees.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Kay Babb Robinette; a daughter, Lana Denise Robinette; a son, Mason Andrew Robinette, all of the home; parents, Marion Kenneth and Margie Robinette, Bulls Gap; very special relatives, Boyce and Dawn Bradley, Morristown; three sisters, Vivian Morrow and husband David, Morristown, Vickie Goforth, Morristown, and Donna Graham and husband Bill, Afton; two brothers, David Robinette and wife Patricia, Mosheim, Danny Robinette, Bulls Gap; mother-in-law, Georgia Babb, Afton; three sisters-in-law, Judy Barkley, Greeneville, Brenda Rose and husband Amos, Greeneville, Vickie Bishop, Afton; and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be 1 - 3 p.m. Friday, Oct. 12, 2001, at Broome Funeral Home, Rogersville.

Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Friday, Oct. 12, 2001, in the funeral home chapel with Revs. Fred Gilreath and Gary Sexton officiating. Burial will follow in the Robinette-Everhart Cemetery.
