KENNETH RICHARD JOHNSON
Mr. Kenneth Richard Johnson, 61, of Allons, died Saturday, April 17 at Livingston Regional Hospital.

He was a factory worker at Hutchinson of Livingston and lived most of his life in Kentucky.

Born February 15, 1943, in Frankfort, KY, he was the son of the late Jimmie and Thelma (Horseman) Johnson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Allen Johnson.

Survivors include his wife, Hazel (Wheeler) Johnson of Allons; five daughters, Ruby Whitenight of Williamson, TX, Yvonne Cruise of Rockport, TX, Racheal Roberson of Advance, NC, Rene Lewis of Livingston, and Rosie Johnson of Celina; three brothers, Roger Johnson of Livingston, Eugene Johnson of Allons, and Larry Johnson of Alpine; and eight grandchildren.

The family chose cremation. No services are planned at this time.

THOMAS EDWARD PARRIS Jr.
Funeral services for Mr. Thomas Edward Parris Jr., 43, of Jacksonville, FL, were conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 6, 2004, at Lutheran Church of Our Savior in Albany, GA.

Private graveside services followed in Cedar Hill cemetery in Dawson, GA.

Mr. Parris died Friday, April 2 in a car accident. He was reared in Dawson and graduated from Terrell Academy in 1979. He received a bachelor of science degree in Political Science from University of Georgia in 1984.

He had a distinguished career with the Department of Treasury, United States Customs Service as a special agent. He was on temporary assignment for the World Trade Center Recovery Effort in 2002 in New York City. In 2003, he was assigned to the Carrier Security Initiative in Sweden, which looked for weapons of mass destruction that terrorists hide in shipping containers en route to the United States.

He was a member of the Federal Bureau of Investigation North Florida Joint Terrorism Task Force, which investigated terrorist groups that could be working secretly in the United States. He was the lead United States Customs investigator in the Jacksonville office for "Operation Predator", an undercover operation to identify pedophiles attempting to meet underage children in internet chat rooms. He was the Number one agent in North Florida for "Operation Predator". This operation resulted in the arrest and prosection of pedophiles. He was also instrumental in the arrest and prosection of several large narcotics violators.

At age 12, he became a member of the Church of Christ. As an adult, he became a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Jacksonville. He was also a member of the Free and Accepted Masons of Florida. He was a charter member of the University of Georgia Alumni Association and the Jacksonville Bulldog Club.

He loved to travel, having visited such places as France, Austria, Germany, Poland, Hungary, the Czech Republic, and Russia in his younger days. He wanted to instill his love for travel in his family by taking vacations in Alaska, New York, and Sweden.

He especially loved to go camping every summer with his family and his parents at Sunset Marina on Dale Hollow Lake near Byrdstown. He was very involved in his children's lives and had been a coach of both sons' soccer teams for several years.

Born January 5, 1961, in Monroe, he was the son of Thomas E. Parris Sr. and Nellie R. Parris.

Survivors, in addition to his parents, include his wife, Sandra (Bridges) Parris; two sons, Thomas Edward III and Grant Hunter; a daughter, Ansley Katherine; three sisters, Pam Hooks, Linda Parris, and Jennifer Norman; and the children's godparents, Tommy Mitchell and his wife, Barbara. He also considered his United States Customs co-workers as part of his family.

In lieu of flowers, a scholarship fund has been established for the children at the Bank of Terrell, 250 E. Lee Street, Dawson, GA, 39842.

BRENDA (OWENS) TAYLOR
Funeral services for Mrs. Brenda (Owens) Taylor, 56, of Jamestown, were conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 7, 2004, at the Pleasant View Church of the Nazarene in Allardt.

Burial was in Owens cemetery with Bro. Sam Wood officiating.

Mrs. Taylor died Sunday, April 4. She was employed by Emergency Coverage Corporation in Knoxville and worked as an adult nurse practitioner in the Fast Track at Livingston Regional Hospital. She was loved and will be missed by every life she touched.

Survivors include her mother, Ruth (Zachary) Owens of Allardt; two sons, John Taylor and James Taylor, both of Allardt; a sister, Judy Beatty of Allardt; two brothers, David Owens of Knoxville and Bobby Neal of Allardt; the father of her children, Loyd Taylor; and a special friend, Steve Cravens of Allardt.

Pallbearers were James Taylor, John Taylor, David Owens, Loyd Taylor, Steve Cravens, Dane Owens, and Cody Owens.

Wilbur Dean Eldridge
Funeral services for Mr. Wilbur Dean Eldridge, 50, of Hanging Limb, were conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, August 23, 2003, from the chapel of Goff Funeral Home in Monterey.

Burial was in Hanging Limb cemetery with Rev. David Harris and Rev. Richard Rollins officiating.

Mr. Eldridge died Thursday, August 21 at Middle Tennessee Medical Center in Murfreesboro. He was a member of Hanging Limb Missionary Baptist Church.

Born September 30, 1952, in Cozad, NE, he was the son of Ann Phillips Eldridge of Hanging Limb and the late Elmer Eldridge.

Survivors, in addition to his mother, include two aunts, Mabel Cox of Crossville and Oma Bingaman of Hanging Limb; and two uncles, Gilbert Phillips of Crossville and Cliford Phillips of Anderson, IN.

Anna Ruth Franklin Fairley
Funeral services for Mrs. Anna Ruth Franklin Fairley, 81, of Cookeville, were conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, August 21, 2003, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home.

Burial was in Fredonia cemetery with Rev. Nolan Cantrell officiating.

Mrs. Fairley died Monday, August 18 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was a factory worker and a member of Memorial Baptist Church.

Born January 17, 1922, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late Luther and Etter (Rich) Ledbetter. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two husbands, Woodrow Franklin and Jim Fairley; four brothers, Odell Ledbetter, Bethel Ledbetter, K.B. Ledbetter, and Spurgon Ledbetter; and two sisters, Elsie Garrett and Nora Crabtree.

Survivors include two sons, Terry Franklin and his wife, Erma, of Ohio, and Gary Franklin and his wife, Edna, of Cookeville; five daughters, Loretta Savage, and her husband, Bill, of Livingston, Jean Cantrell, and her husband, Harold, of Anderson, IN, Carol Gillentine of Westland, MI, Ruth Ann Richmond of Cookeville, and Hope Pardue, and her husband, Jack, of Cookeville; three brothers, R.L. Ledbetter and Lecill Ledbetter, both of Livingston, and Gladiston Ledbetter of Westland; and two sisters, Rosie Smith of Monroe, and Glendan Ashburn of Clarkrange.

Harold Mitchell Gore
Funeral services for Mr. Harold Mitchell Gore, 60, of Livingston, were conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, August 22, 2003, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home.

Burial was in Overton County Memorial Gardens with Bro. Bobby Gore and Bro. Chris Coil officiating.

Mr. Gore died Wednesday, August 20 at Livingston Regional Hospital. He was an employee of U.C.E.M.C. and a member and Elder of Walnut Grove Church of Christ.

Born September 29, 1942, in Overton County, he was the son of Maggie (Hall) Gore of Livingston and the late Ridley Gore. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother, Larry Gore.

Survivors, in addition to his mother, include his wife, Janet Gore of Livingston; a son, Darrin Gore of Livingston; a daughter, Stacey Gore, and her husband, Mike, of Allons; a brother, Jerry Gore, and his wife, Marilyn, of Livingston; a sister, Patricia Conner, and her husband, Joe, of Monroe; and a grandson, Lane Gore of Allons.

Pallbearers were Ronnie Qualls, Allard White, Danny Scott, Joe Brown, Donald Fleming, Billy Mahaney, Billy Burchett, and Chris Gore.

Serving as honorary pallbearers were John Stephens and the elders, deacons, and children of Walnut Grove Church of Christ. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association by contacting Speck Funeral Home.

William Luther Harris
Funeral services for Mr. William Luther Harris, 98, of Monterey, were conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, August 25, 2003, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home.

Burial was in Oakley cemetery with Rev. Richard Harris and Rev. Tim Beaty officiating.

Mr. Harris died Saturday, August 23 at Livingston Regional Hospital. He was a farmer and of the Freewill Baptist faith.

Born August 24, 1904, in Overton County, he was the son of the late John and Becky Jane (Walker) Harris. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Audie Mae Harris; two sons, Billy C. Harris and Joe L. Harris; a brother, Berry Harris; and four sisters, Nancy Jane Dixon, Verly Cooper, Mary Copeland, and Sarah Finley.

Survivors include his wife, Belle Harris of Monterey; four sons, M.J. Harris and Jerry Harris, both of Livingston, L.N. Harris of Monterey, and J.B. Harris of Crawford; three daughters, Bertie Davidson and Carrie Vaughn, both of Livingston, and Bessie Harris of Monterey; two brothers, Tommy Harris and Elbert Harris, both of Brushcreek; 10 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; and 7 great-great grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Ronnie Smith, James Harris, Donnie Smith, John Harris, Kenny Smith, and Kevin Smith.

Kathern Jones
Funeral services for Mrs. Kathern Jones, 58, of Monterey, will be conducted at 10 a.m., today, Wednesday, August 27, 2003, from the chapel of Goff Funeral Home in Monterey.

Burial will be in Welch Memorial cemetery with Rev. Raymond Phillips officiating.

Mrs. Jones died Monday, August 25 at her home. She worked 28 years with Ely & Walker in Monterey and recently with Landers Trade Center in Monterey. She was a 1963 graduate of Rickman High School and was a member of Columbia Hill Baptist Church.

Born December 2, 1944, in Crawford, she was the daughter of the late Tom and Rachel (Smith) Landers. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, James "Red" Smith.

Survivors include her husband, Frank Jones of Monterey; a special son, Chris Landers of Monterey; a special grandson, Andrew Landers; a sister, Doris Taylor of Monterey; and three brothers, Larry Landers, Eddie Landers, and Tony Landers, all of Monterey.

Ermer Linder
Funeral services for Mrs. Ermer Linder, 87, of Livingston, were conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, August 22, 2003, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home.

Burial was in Linder cemetery with Rev. Ovle Tinch officiating.

Mrs. Linder died Wednesday, August 20 at Overton County Nursing Home. She was a homemaker and a member of Falling Springs Missionary Church.

Born September 5, 1915, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late John and Louella (Tayse) Almonrode. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Linder; two sons, Ernest Linder and Edward Linder; five brothers, Arnold Almonrode, Ermon Almonrode, Vermon Almonrode, Herman Almonrode, and Robert Almonrode; and a sister, Alene White.

Survivors include four sons, Sylvester Linder, James Linder, Roger Linder, and Wayne Linder, all of Livingston; three daughters, Claudine Crabtree, Lois Cantrell, and Anna Ogletree, all of Livingston; 14 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; and a great-great grandchild.

Pallbearers were Craig Cantrell, Mark Cantrell, Michael Cantrell, Ralph Linder, Ronnie Linder, and Anthony Dailey.

SIMON ROSCOE BARNES
Funeral services for Mr. Simon Roscoe Barnes, 65, of Algood, were conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 6, 2004, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home.

Burial was in Fellowship cemetery with Bro. Malcolm Hill officiating.

Mr. Barnes died Monday, May 3 at Masters Health Care Center. He was an auto mechanic.

Born April 22, 1939, in Jackson County, he was the son of the late Edgar and Martha (Barlow) Barnes. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth (Prichard) Barnes.

Survivors include two step-daughters, Sally and Kathy; a brother, Virgil Reed of Allons; and two sisters, Susan Barnes of Huntington, IN, and Faye Tackett of Andrews, IN.

Pallbearers were George Greenwood, Charles Greenwood, Rick Vaughn, Charles Bull, Ralph Barlow, and Bruce Barlow.

BILLY GRAY BILBREY
Funeral services for Mr. Billy Gray Bilbrey, 74, of Livingston, were conducted at 1 p.m. Sunday, May 9, 2004, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home.

Burial was in Overton County Memorial Gardens with Rev. Donald Cobb officiating.

Mr. Bilbrey died Thursday, May 6 at Livingston Regional Hospital. He was an employee of Speck Funeral Home, a member of Livingston First Baptist Church, and a United States Army veteran of the Korean Conflict.

Born February 15, 1930, in Overton County, he was the son of the late Walter E. and Lucy (Crabtree) Bilbrey. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Clyde Bilbrey, Joe Bilbrey, and Ray Bilbrey; and two sisters, Pauline Palmer and Mertie Lessig.

Survivors include his wife, Edna Bilbrey of Livingston; four sons, Larry Bilbrey and Mark Bilbrey, both of Sparta, and Kent Bilbrey and Roger Bilbrey, both of Livingston; a daughter, June Bilbrey of Livingston; two brothers, John Bilbrey of Cookeville and James Bilbrey of Calumet City, IL; 15 grandchildren; and 9 great grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Michael Garrett, Shawn Bilbrey, Dustin Bilbrey, Timmy Bilbrey, George Sells, Jeff Hammock, David England, and Joey Sholtz.
