NORMA RUTH (LEE) QUALLS
Funeral services for Mrs. Norma Ruth (Lee) Qualls, 70, of Livingston, were conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, August 26, 2004, from the chapel of Livingston Funeral Home.

Burial was in Okolona cemetery with Bro. James Shaver and Bro. Arthur Hall officiating.

Mrs. Qualls died Tuesday, August 24 at Livingston Regional Hospital. She was a factory worker and a member of Livingston First Assembly of God.

Born January 4, 1934, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late Perry and Myrtle (Kyle) Lee. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Luther Qualls; two brothers, James Lee and Carson Lee; and a sister, Beatrice Coffee.

Survivors include two daughters, Janie Brown of Livingston and Elaine Isabell of Monterey; two sons, Ricky Qualls and Joe Qualls, both of Livingston; a sister, Geneva Garrett of Rickman; two brothers, Paul Lee of Byrdstown and Willie Lee of Monroe; seven grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and nieces, and other family members and friends.

Pallbearers were Johnny Qualls, Jason Isabell, Justin Isabell, David Brown, Calep Wilson, and Baxter Hughes.

MARSHALL WAYNE SHEFFIELD
Funeral services for Mr. Marshall Wayne Sheffield, 62, of Celina, were conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 1, 2004, from the chapel of Hall Funeral Home in Celina.

Burial was in Fitzgerald cemetery in Clay County with Bill Threet and Kenneth McClain officiating.

Mr. Sheffield died Sunday, August 29 at Cumberland River Hospital in Celina. He was a member of Celina Church of Christ and worked in detailing for the automotive industry.

Born May 7, 1942, in Monroe County, KY, he was the son of Clarice Sheffield of Rossville, IN, and the late John Sheffield. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Hale; and a nephew, Greg Rasner.

Survivors include his wife, Reba Sheffield of Celina; two daughters, Cindy Strong and her husband, Ronald, of Celina, and Tamara Sheffield of Salisbury, NC; a brother, Alton Sheffield of Tompkinsville, KY; a sister, Regina Beckner of Flora, IN; four grandchildren, T.J. McAlpin, Kevin Strong, Michael Strong, and Nathan Strong; and three great grandchildren; Callie Jo Kendall, Taylor Strong, and Zachary Strong.

Pallbearers were Dathan McAplin, Marion Wayne Bowman, Kevin Strong, Nathan Strong, Ricky Sheffield, and Allon Brumley.

RUBY B. SMITH
Funeral services for Miss Ruby B. Smith, 81, of the Taylor's Crossroads Community, were conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 27, 2002, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home.
Burial was in Fellowship cemetery with Rev. Shane Nelson officiating.

Miss Smith died Tuesday, Dec. 24 at Overton County Nursing Home. Until her retirement, she was the owner/operator of Smith's Store in the Taylor's Crossroads Community, along with her late sister, Jewell (Smith) Newberry.

Born June 29, 1921, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late Edward Grover and Verdie M. (Spicer) Smith.

Survivors include five brothers, Veachel Smith, William "Bill" Smith, and Willard Dustin Smith, all of Anderson, IN, and Loyd Smith and J.B. Smith, both of the Taylor's Crossroads Community; three sisters, Pauline Heiny of Lapel, IN, and Lola Conner and Alma Conner, both of the Taylor's Crossroads Community; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

Pallbearers were Bill Smith, J.B. Smith, Loyd Smith, Terry Smith, Joe Conner, Kenny Conner, and Matthew Conner.

HAZEL MARIE UPTON
Funeral services for Mrs. Hazel Marie Upton, 82, of Hilham, were conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 20, 2002, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home.

Burial was in Fellowship cemetery with Rev. Barry Davis officiating.

Mrs. Upton died Tuesday, Dec. 17 at Livingston Regional Hospital. She was a housewife and a member of McFerrin Methodist Church.

Born April 15, 1920, in Clay County, she was the daughter of the late Ruben and Sarah Pritchard. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Hettie Brown and Emma Sullivan; and three brothers, Willie Pritchard, Charlie Pritchard, and Crit Pritchard.

Survivors include her husband, Dan Upton of Hilham; two brothers-in-law and a sister-in-law, Joe Eddy Upton and Joe and Judy Sullivan, all of Hilham; and a special niece, Winnie Matthews of Anderson, IN.

LEONARD WARREN SHOUP
Funeral services for Mr. Leonard Warren Shoup, 45, of Livingston, will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, September 9, 2004, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home.

Burial will be in Green Hill cemetery with Rev. Jerry Hunt officiating.

Mr. Shoup died Friday, August 27 in Ferizij, Kosovo. He worked with Civilian Security Group 4 in Dublin, Ireland, was an ordained minister of World Bible Way Fellowship International, and was a veteran of the United States Army.

Born June 27, 1959, in Logansport, IN, he was the son of Della C. Cuellar (Shoup) Hunt of Livingston and the late Donald Leonard Shoup.

Survivors, in addition to his mother, include his step-father, Jerry Hunt of Livingston; three daughters, Christy Shoup, Jessica Shoup, and Kaitlin Shoup, all of Texas; two brothers, David Gonzales of Texas and Gilbert Gonzales of Oklahoma; and two sisters, Dolores Reminder of Taylor, MI, and Brenda Keisling of Alpine.

KEDNA M. SPECK
Funeral services for Mrs. Kedna M. Speck, 82, of Rickman, were conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, September 6, 2004, from the Rickman chapel of Speck Funeral Home.

Burial was in Netherland cemetery with Bro. Mark Loftis officiating.

Mrs. Speck died Friday, September 3 at Bethesda Health Care in Algood. She was a housewife and a member of Netherland Church of Christ.

Born May 14, 1922, in Putnam County, she was the daughter of the late George Thurman and Hazel Amanda (Hasting) Bilbrey. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Q. Speck; and a sister, Blanch Cozine.

Survivors include three sons, Thurman Speck and his wife, Donna, Glenn Speck, and Rodger Speck, all of Rickman; two brothers, Claude Cooper and his wife, Penny, of Mt. Juliet, and Bill Cooper and his wife, Louise, of Goodlettsville; a grandson, Chris Speck and his wife, Wendy; and two great granddaughters, Madelyn Speck and Emma Grace Speck.

Pallbearers were Howard Miller, Raymond Miller, Donnie Holman, Alan Loftis, Ray Austin, John Randolph, Joe West, and Haskel Qualls.

JOHN ARKLEY STOVER
Funeral services for Mr. John Arkley Stover, 77, of Livingston, were conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday, December 23, 2004, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home.

Burial was in Chattanooga National cemetery with Bro. Marlon Winningham officiating.

Mr. Stover died Sunday, December 19 at Alvin C. York VA Medical Center. He was a retired factory worker, a member of Livingston Church of Christ, a veteran of the United States Army, and member of the VFW.

Born October 16, 1927, in Livingston, he was the son of the late Walter G. and Maggie (Kennedy) Stover. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Lloyd and Gilbert; and two sisters, Essie and Margie.

Survivors include two daughters, Jackie Campos and her husband, Louis, of Palm Harbor, FL, and Jennifer Stilts and her husband, Andrew, of Dunlap; and two grandchildren, Seth Stilts and Devan Stilts.

LELA H. PAUL
Funeral services for Mrs. Lela H. Paul, 75, of Alpine, were conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, October 21, 2003, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home.

Burial was in Overton County Memorial Gardens with Bro. Danny Simpson officiating.

Mrs. Paul died Sunday, October 19 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was a factory worker in the garment industry and a member of Miller's Chapel Christian Church.

Born August 2, 1928, in Fentress County, she was the daughter of the late J.T. and Parr (King) Hoover. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Hattie Smith; and two brothers, Hobert Hoover and Herbert Hoover.

Survivors include her husband, Ostil Paul of Alpine; two sons, Robert Paul and his wife, Sharon, of Monroe and Freddie Paul and his wife, Denise, of Alpine; two brothers, Fred C. Hoover of Alpine and Don Hoover of Allons; three grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.

Pallbearers were B.J. Todd, Josh Paul, Jerry Simpson, Jeff Paul, Chris King, and Jimmy Gunter.

MATTHEW HAROLD PEEK
Funeral services for Mr. Matthew Harold Peek, 17, of Rickman, were conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, October 26, 2003, from the chapel of Livingston Funeral Home.

Burial was in Carter-Bilbrey cemetery with Bro. Frankie Bledsoe officiating.

Mr. Peek died Thursday, October 23 at Livingston Regional Hospital. He was a senior at Livingston Academy and of the Baptist faith.

Born December 19, 1985, in Overton County, he was the son of Harold Peek of Monroe and Tammy (Smith) Peek of Rickman. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, J.B. Peek; his great grandmother, Jewell Smith; great grandparents, Huel and Pauline Hawkins; and an aunt, Joetta Smith.

Survivors, in addition to his parents, include his paternal grandmother, Dollie Peek of Livingston; maternal grandparents, Jerry Smith of Gainesboro and Linda Smith of Hilham; his great grandfather, Clifton Smith of Gainesboro; a sister, Brittany Peek of Rickman; and several aunts, uncles, and other family members and friends.

Pallbearers were Kyle Nolen, Steven Walker, Paul Melton, Daniel Keys, Micheal Hayes, Eric Hawkins, Billy Thompson, Dustin Flowers, and Jordon Sebers.

POSIE LEE ABBOTT
Funeral services for Mr. Posie Lee Abbott, 79, of Livingston, were conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, March 29, 2004, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home.

Burial was in Good Hope cemetery with Rev. A.J. Cox officiating.

Mr. Abbott died Saturday, March 27 at his home. He was a retired concrete finisher and a member of Allons Church of Christ.

Born July 13, 1924, in Overton County, he was the son of the late Laken and Lanie (Ruble) Abbott.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Abbott of Livingston; two daughters, Betty Fulkerson of Sparta and Joan Smith of Livingston; three sisters, Rosie Arney of Lawrenceburg and O.V. Morrow and Eula Adams, both of Livingston; three grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Terry Morrow, Bill Linder, R.L. Ogletree, Rick Reeder, Kent Atchley, and Phillip Randalls.

Eddie Morrow served as honorary pallbearer.

ANNA CHRISTINE CONNER
Funeral services for Mrs. Anna Christine Conner, 76, of Monroe, were conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 28, 2004, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home.

Burial was in Hatcher Hall cemetery with Bro. Glen Ledbetter officiating.

Mrs. Conner died Thursday, March 25 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was a retired factory worker and a member of Free Communion Church of Christ.

Born July 19, 1927, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late Buck and Cora (Raines) Ledbetter. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Malton Conner; and a daughter, Barbara Jean Handy.

Survivors include two sons, Lonnie Conner of Temperence, MI, and Larry Conner of Chattanooga; four brothers, James Ledbetter, Bobby Ledbetter, and Glen Ledbetter, all of Livingston, and Billy Ledbetter of Kansas City, MO; and two sisters, Barbara Edith Pearson of Algood and Laura B. Ledbetter of Livingston.

Pallbearers were Scott Conner, Toby Crouch, Brian Crouch, Larry Conner, Lonnie Conner, and Billy Handy.

EMMA LOU GARRETT
Funeral services for Ms. Emma Lou Garrett, 70, of Monroe, were conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 25, 2004, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home.

Burial was in Overton County Memorial Gardens with Bro. Marlon Winningham officiating.

Mrs. Garrett died Tuesday, March 23 at Livingston Regional Hospital. She was a retired garment factory worker and of the Church of Christ faith.

Born July 16, 1933, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late Billy Morgan and Rose (Flowers) Garrett.

Survivors include three sons, Greg Murphy, Ray Long, and Mark Long, all of Monroe; a brother, Levin Garrett of Livingston; and two sisters, Agnes Garrett of Monroe and Daisy Stover of Dayton, OH.

Pallbearers were Dan Clark, Don Clark, Jeff Sells, Jason Turner, Pete Lee, and Leland Garrett.

EDDIE BENTON HUMMEL JR.
Funeral services for Mr. Eddie Benton Hummel Jr., 67, of Allons, were conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 27, 2004, at Fellowship Baptist Church.

Burial was in Fellowship cemetery with Bro. Dewitt Sampley and Bro. Michael Anderson officiating.

Mr. Hummel died Thursday, March 25 at Livingston Regional Hospital. He was a logger and a member of Fellowship Baptist Church.

Born November 28, 1936, in Clay County, he was the son of the late Eddie and Martha (Cherry) Hummel Sr. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Edna Sue (Brown) Hummel.

Survivors include two daughters, Lori Trull and her husband, Ron, of Allons, and Julie Coleman and her husband, Terry, of Livingston; three sons, David Hummel and his wife, Jane, of Gaston, IN, Chris Hummel and his wife, Sheena, of Monroe, and Jeff Hummel of Lawrenceburg; two sisters, Connie Taylor and Charlotte Foster, both of Allons; five brothers, R.D. Hummel of Allons, Willie Ray Hummel, M.B. Hummel, Gene Hummel, and Razell Hummel, all of Anderson, IN; eight grandchildren, Aaron, Corey, Jesse, Deidra, Jessica, Colton, Coby, and Katy; and nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Jack Reagan, Michael Ray, Bill Vaughn, Kevin Collins, Jerry Reeder, W.B. Melton, Aaron Johnson, and David Thrasher.
