HILDA JOYCE (MABE) KIRKLAND
Funeral services for Mrs. Hilda Joyce (Mabe) Kirkland, 57, of Maryville, were conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, October 6, 2003, at Lower Chilhowee Baptist Church.

Burial was in Lower Chilhowee Baptist Church cemetery with Rev. Leon Amburn, Rev. Mike Clore, Rev. Tyson Matoy, and Rev. Arthur Ridge officiating.

Mrs. Kirkland died Friday, October 3 at the family home. She was a member of Birchfield Baptist Church and was retired from Blount County Schools as a cook at Lanier Elementary School.

She was the daughter of Ethel Mabe of Cookeville and the late Alvin Mabe. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by two brothers, John Mabe and Billy Mabe; and a sister, Ann Ruth Gentry.

Survivors, in addition to her mother, include her husband of 38 years, Reed Kirkland; a son, Scott Kirkland of Maryville; two daughters, Mona Lisa Myers of Maryville and Cynthia Greene of Philadelphia, TN; eight grandchildren, Brittney Kirkland, Tiffney Kirkland, Frank Kirkland, Brandon Amburn, Justin Myers, Steven Evans, Taylor Greene, and Anna Greene; a step-grandson, Jeffery Icenburg; six brothers, Donald Mabe of Monroe, Gene Mabe and Gary Mabe, both of Rickmond, Junior Mabe of Allons, Jerry Mabe of Cookeville, and Homer Mabe of Clinton, MI; and special caregivers, Jane Jackson, Pat Kirkland, and Ruth Starnes.

VOID C. MAYNORD
Funeral services for Mr. Void C. Maynord, 81, of Livingston, were conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, October 1, 2003, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home.

Burial was in Hunter Cove cemetery with Rev. Randy Maynord officiating.

Mr. Maynord died Monday, September 29 at Livingston Regional Hospital. He was a farmer, a retired school bus driver, and of the Baptist faith. He was also a veteran of the United States Army during World War II.

Born November 28, 1921, in Overton County, he was the son of the late Martin K. and Rosie Maynord. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sons, Jerry Maynord, Roger Maynord, and Kenneth Maynord; a daughter, Elizabeth Maynord; three brothers, Vanis Maynord, Verdie Maynord, and Varney Maynord; and three sisters, Velma Gillentine, Hettie Mae Johnson, and Henrietta Maynord.

Survivors include his wife, Thelma Maynord of Livingston; two sons, Durell Maynord and Larry Maynord, both of Livingston; a daughter, Jonesetta Johnson of Livingston; a brother, Villard Maynord of Livingston; a sister, Veachel Bilbrey of Livingston; eight grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Doug Maynord, Barry Johnson, Steve Young, Adam Maynord, Mitch Williams, Rick Bowman, Eric Dillon, and Brad Huff.

HOLLIS RAY RAMSEY
Funeral services for Mr. Hollis Ray Ramsey, 74, of Allons, were conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, October 4, 2003, at Independence Community Center.

Burial will be held in Overton County Memorial Gardens at a later date with Rev. Dewitt Sampley and Bro. John Murphy officiating.

Mr. Ramsey died Tuesday, September 30 at his home. He sold real estate, and was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church and a veteran of the United States Army.

Born February 4, 1929, in Overton County, he was the son of the late Charles Bradley and Addeville (Ray) Ramsey. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Castle Ramsey.

Survivors include a son, Dwayne Ramsey of Livingston; a daughter, Debra Padgett Schreck of Allons; two brothers, Clifford Ramsey of Livingston and Joe Ramsey of Hendersonville, NC; a sister, Melva Little of Manchester; two granddaughters, Virginia Padgett and Casey Padgett, both of Allons; and his former wife, Judith A. Strickland.

Pallbearers were Larry Bradley Ramsey, Danny Clark, Brett Sullivan, Malcolm Terry Ramsey, Joe Hal Ramsey, and Robert Bruce Little.

Serving as honorary pallbearers were Ed Clark, Bill Parsons, Joe Arney, Bill Bowman, Wilburn Robbins, George Cannon, and Donald Ramsey.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to American Cancer Society, Overton County Library, Disabled Veterans, or any charity of choice.

JOSHUA SNYDER
Funeral services for Mr. Joshua Snyder, 18, of Rickman, will be conducted at 11 a.m. today, Wednesday, October 8, 2003, from the chapel of Goff Funeral Home.

Burial will be in Wilson Family cemetery with Rev. Nolen Cantrell officiating.

Mr. Snyder died Friday, October 3 at Livingston Regional Hospital. He was a 2003 graduate of Livingston Academy.

Born December 29, 1984, in Charlotte, NC, he was the son of Mark and Lisa (Wilson) Snyder of Rickman.

Survivors, in addition to his parents, include his maternal grandparents, Hayes and Pearl Wilson of Cedar Chapel Community in Overton County; his paternal grandparents, Dorville and Mary Swango of Gaston, IN; two sisters, Amanda Snyder of Cookeville and Lacey Snyder of Rickman; a brother, Jacob Snyder of Rickman; and three half-brothers, Shawn Snyder, Mark Snyder, and Eric Snyder, all of Alexandria, IN.

EUNA B. WRIGHT
A celebration of life for Mrs. Euna B. Wright, 93, of Fountain Hills, AZ, formerly of Darrtown, OH, was conducted at 10 a.m. Friday, October 3, 2003, from the chapel of Rogers Funeral Home in New Lebanon, OH.

Mrs. Wright died Monday, September 29 in Fountain Hills. She was a member of Fountain Hills Presbyterian Church.

She was born in Livingston and lived most of her life in Ohio until moving to Fountain Hills in 1966. She was preceded in death by her husband, Horace, with whom she enjoyed 70 years of marriage.

Survivors include two daughters, Donna Yordy and her husband, Bob, of Fountain Hills, and Louise Beckett and her husband, Bob, of Orangeburg, SC; a brother, Dormal Newberry of Atlanta, GA; a sister, Loranza Worley of Indianapolis, IN; 6 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and many more relatives and friends.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 East Flower St., Phoenix, AZ 85014, or Fountain Hills Presbyterian Church, 13001 Fountain Hills Blvd., Fountain Hills, AZ 85268.

MONICA JILL RICHARDSON
Funeral services for Ms. Monica Jill Richardson, 26, of Byrdstown, were conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 25, 2003, from the chapel of Brown Funeral Home of Byrdstown. Burial was in Lovelady-Sims cemetery with Bro. Ricky Cross and Bro. Randy Tompkins officiating.

Ms. Richardson died Sunday, March 23 at St. Thomas Hospital. She was a member of Lovelady Christian Church.

Born September 30, 1976, in Overton County, she was the daughter of Jimmy Richardson and the late Glynna (Hassler) Richardson. In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her grandfather, James Richardson; and two great grandmothers, Lenora Hassler and Mary Lou Winningham.

Survivors, in addition to her father, include her step-mother, Linda Richardson of Byrdstown; three grandparents; Elese Richardson and Glen and Dorothy Hassler, all of Byrdstown; a brother, Brad Richardson of Byrdstown; an uncle, Johnny Richardson and wife Wanda of Livingston; a cousin, Robert Richardson of Livingston; and great aunts, great uncles, other family members, and friends. Pallbearers were Brad Richardson, Robert Rich, Robert Richardson, Eric Tompkins, Jeff Harwell, and Chris Phares.

Serving as honorary pallbearers were Roger Winningham, Ward Winningham, Doug Winningham, Les Winningham, Tom Allen, Craig Richardson, Johnny Richardson, and Gary Upchurch.

CHARLES LEE WRIGHT
Funeral services for Mr. Charles Lee Wright, 56, of the Netherland Community of Rickman, were conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, October 10, 2003, at Paran United Methodist Church.

Burial was in Paran cemetery with Buddy Reeder officiating.

Mr. Wright died Tuesday, October 7 at his home. He was a retired Tennessee Highway Patrolman and a member of Fairview Church of Christ.

Born April 22, 1947, in Putnam County, he was the son of Delcie Wright of the Paran Community of Rickman and the late Gawain Wright. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother, Doyle Wright.

Survivors, in addition to his mother, include his wife, Linda Wright of the Netherland Community.

Pallbearers were Jim Daniels, Gordon Presley, Bob Beaty, David Cobble, Tilman Pritchard, and Jeff Neal.

ANGIE (NORROD) WALKER
Funeral services for Mrs. Angie (Norrod) Walker, 31, of Rickman, were conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, March 14, 2003, from the chapel of Crest Lawn Funeral Home in Cookeville. Burial was in Crest Lawn Memorial cemetery in Cookeville.

Mrs. Walker died Wednesday, March 12 at Vanderbilt Hospital. She was a line worker for Fast Food Merchandise and had studied to be a dental hygienist.

Born July 1, 1971, in Cookeville, she was the daughter of Roger and Brenda (Tollett) Norrod of Silver Point. She was preceded in death by grandparents, Herbert and Gertrude Tollett; a grandmother, Carlene Norrod; and a cousin, Jeremy Hunter.

Survivors, in addition to her parents, include her husband, Larry Walker; a son, Dalton Chase Walker; and a sister and brother-in-law, Suzanne and Greg Glynn of Smithville.
Mrs. Walker's family and friends served as pallbearers. Memorial donations may be made to the Angie (Norrod) Walker Memorial Trust Fund at Union Bank in Rickman.

DELVA MARIE MASTERS
Funeral services for Mrs. Delva Marie Masters, 83, of the Crossroads Community near Monterey, were conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, October 16, 2003, from the chapel of Goff Funeral Home in Monterey.

Burial was in Love Joy cemetery with Rev. David Harris, Rev. Odell Ashburn, Rev. Freddie Melton, and Rev. Kenny King officiating.

Mrs. Masters died Tuesday, October 14 at Cumberland Medical Center in Crossville. She worked as a hosiery mill employee in Monterey and Rockwood and was a member of Muddy Pond Independent Baptist Church.

Born March 6, 1920, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late Porter and Ova (Brown) Howard. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Mark B. Masters Sr.; four sisters, Mary Baldwin, Thelma Walker, Rosie Madewell, Evelyn McCroy; and two brothers, Vavid Miller and David Howard.

Survivors include three daughters, Joann Vaughn and her husband, Arvin, and Elaine Bowman and her husband, Hollis, all of the Crossroads Community, and Elese Cumby and her husband, Harlan, of the Rocky Point Community; a son, Rev. Junior Masters and his wife, Ada, of Mayland; five sisters, Erma Padgett and Odean Proffitt, both of Crossville, Buna Norris of the Martha Washington Community, Earlene Grissom of Rockwood, and Myrtle Madewell of Dayton, OH; two brothers, Billy Howard and Arther Howard, both of Rockwood; 12 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; and 4 great-great grandchildren.

GEORGE J. PHILLIPS
Memorial services for Mr. George J. Phillips, 79, of Livingston, were conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, October 7, 2003, at Holly Springs Church of Christ.

Mr. Phillips died Saturday, October 4 at Livingston Regional Hospital. He was retired from the United States Navy and was a veteran of World War II.

Born December 11, 1923, in Lake City, FL, he was the son of the late Randolph and Mabel (Arnold) Phillips. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers and a sister.

Survivors include his wife, Jo Carolyn Phillips of Livingston; two daughters, Cindy Johns of Livingston and Karren Phillips of Huntsville, AL; three sons, George Phillips Jr. of LaQuinta, CA, Dennis Phillips of Cavanua, WI, and Stanley Johns of Orlando, FL; nine grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.

The family chose cremation.

ERMA LEE PHILLIPS
Funeral services for Mrs. Erma Lee Phillips, 96, of Muddy Pond, were conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, October 21, 2003, from the chapel of Goff Funeral Home in Monterey.

Burial was in Muddy Pond cemetery with Rev. Walt Phillips and Rev. Ronald Norrod officiating.

Mrs. Phillips died Saturday, October 18 at Cumberland Medical Center in Crossville. She was a homemaker and a member of Old Columbia Hill Freewill Baptist Church.

Born December 18, 1906, in Columbia Hill, she was the daughter of the late Virgil and Queen (Bilbrey) Norrod. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gardner Phillips; a son, Earl B. Phillips; a sister, Dora Phillips; and five brothers, Cordell Norrod, Dophie Norrod, Other Norrod, Cleo Norrod, and R.B. Norrod.

Survivors include three sons, Mitchell Phillips, Carl Phillips and his wife, Evelyn, and Danny Phillips, all of Monterey; two daughters, Alice Key and her husband, J.R., and Velma Phillips, all of Monterey; a daughter-in-law, Agnes Phillips of Monterey; a brother, Odell Norrod and his wife, Geneva, of Monterey; two sisters, Verdon Norrod and Valenor Norrod, both of Monterey; five grandchildren, Brenda Welch and her husband, Jerry, Randall Key and his wife, Leslie, Cynthia Phillips and her husband, Walt, Stacey Phillips and his wife, Lesa, and Melinda Sipe and her husband, Herbert; five great grandchildren, Crystal Harris and her husband, Chad, Jeffery Welch, Brandy McCants and her husband, Brandon, Ashley Phillips, and Summer Phillips; and two great-great grandchildren, Matthew Harris and Mason Harris.
