Allie Frazier Stanley, 81, Duffield, Va.
Services for Allie Frazier Stanley, 81, Duffield, who entered into rest Saturday (Feb. 26, 2005), will be conducted at 11 a.m. today in the chapel of The Duffield Funeral Home at Thomas Village with Evangelist Garry Hood and the Rev. Steve Rogers officiating.

Music will be provided by the Hood Family Singers and Courtney and Tyler Rogers.

Committal services will follow in the Cox Chapel cemetery in Duffield.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Wanda Faye Tankersley, 65, Kingsport.
KINGSPORT - Wanda Faye Tankersley, 65, of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday (March 1, 2005) at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center following a brief illness.

Arrangements are incomplete at this time and will be announced by Oak Hill Funeral Home.

M. Creed Tate, 88, Big Stone Gap, Va.
BIG STONE GAP, Va. - Military rites for Marvin Creed Tate, 88, who passed away on Sunday (Feb. 27, 2005), will be conducted by Norton VFW Post No. 4301 at 2:30 p.m. today at Powell Valley Memorial Gardens.

Family and friends will go in procession to the cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 12 noon to 2 p.m. today at Holding Funeral Home, Big Stone Gap, Va.

The family respectfully requests no flowers. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society, 203 W. Main St., Abingdon, Va. 24210, in the name of Creed Tate to honor his nephew, Marvin Vanhook.

Elsie Hall Taylor, 89, Pound, Va.
POUND, Va. - Elsie Hall Taylor, 89, went home to be with the Lord Monday (Feb. 28, 2005) at her residence with her family by her side after a lengthy illness.

She was born in Pound, Va., on July 2, 1915, and was the daughter of the late Milam Cantrell and Caldonia Stanley Cantrell. She had worked as a sales clerk at Federated Store in Pound and was a homemaker.

Mrs. Taylor was of the Baptist faith and a member of Hamilton Chapel.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, William "Bill" Hall; second husband, Harry Taylor; sisters, Pearlie Hamilton, Stella Cantrell, Ella Boggs, Ethel McFall, Gracie Mullins, Ocie Dale; brother, Orby L. Cantrell.

Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Peggy and Earl Perry, Kingsport; son and daughter-in-law, Carl and Nelva Hall, Pound, Va.; grandchildren, Carl Perry, Rebecca Smith, Robin Mullins; great-grandchildren, Trey Perry, Jordan and Payton Smith, Brent and Kinsley Mullins; brother and sister-in-law, Ezra and Evelyn Cantrell, Pound, Va.; brothers-in-law, Edgar Mullins, Franklin L. Dale; several nieces, nephews and friends.

Calling hours are from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Hamilton Chapel in Pound, Va., and anytime at her residence.

Services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Thursday at the church with Pastor Greg Cyphers and Elder Freddy Short officiating.

The church choir will provide the music.

Graveside services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday at Hamilton Cemetery, Bold Camp section of Pound, Va. The family will meet at the church at 12 noon to go in procession to the cemetery.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

In memory of Mrs. Taylor, contributions may be made to Hamilton Chapel, P.O. Box 772, Pound, Va. 24279, Pound Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 711, Pound, Va. 24279 or Holston View United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 2284, Weber City, Va. 24290.

Colonial Funeral Home, Weber City, Va., is in charge of arrangements.

Ruby E. Tittle, 79, Erwin.
ERWIN - Mrs. Ruby E. Tittle, 79, 249 Elliott Avenue, Erwin, died Monday (Feb. 28, 2005) in the Erwin Health Care Center.

Mrs. Tittle was a lifelong resident of Unicoi County and a daughter of the late Fred T. and Lena Bowman Higgins. Mrs. Tittle was a homemaker.

She was of the Baptist faith.

Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Bill Higgins; and a sister, Nadine Tisdale.

Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Wallace "Chuck" Tittle; son and daughter-in-law, Keith and Marquita Tittle, Kingsport; daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Terry Bailey, Erwin; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Glenn and and Barbara Higgins, Telford, Kenneth and Louella Higgins, Erwin; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Lillian Kendall, Fredna and Arvil Williams, all of Erwin, Mary Lou and James Ricker, Johnson City; four grandchildren, Amy Honeycutt and husband Les, Tracy Pate, Tim Bailey and wife Sarah, all of Erwin, Jake Tittle, Kingsport; three great-grandchildren, Heather Honeycutt, Emily Honeycutt, and Hunter Pate; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Erwin Memorial Funeral Home, Erwin, and at other times at the residence, 249 Elliott Ave., Erwin.

Services will be held at 8 p.m. Thursday from the funeral home chapel. Rev. Bob Ambler, Rev. Les Honeycutt, and Rev. Harold Grindstaff will officiate.

Music will be provided by Rev. David Foster, Terry Bailey and Nancy K. Bogart.

Committal service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in Evergreen Cemetery, Erwin.

Active pallbearers will be Randy Higgins, Darren Higgins, Joel Higgins, Terry Williams, Darrell Banner, Wayne Higgins, Greg Ricker, and Sammy Tittle.

Honorary pallbearers will be grandsons and great-grandsons.

All pallbearers are requested to assemble at the funeral home by 7:30 p.m. Thursday and at the cemetery by 9:30 a.m. Friday. Family, minister, and friends may gather at the cemetery by 9:50 a.m. Friday.

James Richard Walters, 65, Crestview, Fla.
CRESTVIEW, Fla. - James Richard Walters, 65, passed away on Friday (Feb. 25, 2005) due to complications of cancer.

He was born in Hazard, Ky., on May 21, 1939. James was a longtime resident of Kingsport and spent the last seven years in Crestview.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Dorothy Walters; and brother, John Walters.

Surviving are his wife of 40 years, Geraldine; daughter, Kimberly Nile; granddaughter, Lauren Kay; special cousin, Charlotte; an aunt, uncle, numerous cousins, a nephew and his two adopted daughters also survive James.

A Celebration of Life for our hero will be held at a later date.

Whitehurst-Powell Funeral Home, Crestview, Fla., is entrusted with arrangements.

Dorothy Gentry Warren, Kingsport.
KINGSPORT - Dorothy Gentry Warren, formerly of Madison House Assisted Living Community, passed away on Sunday evening (Feb. 27, 2005) at Brookhaven Manor.

A native of Knoxville, she was the daughter of Carson Otis and Flora Alice Gentry. Mrs. Warren was a member of Mafair United Methodist Church in Kingsport.

She was owner of the Dorothy Dear Candy Company in the early ‘50s, and operated a candy shop on Broad Street in downtown Kingsport. She was the "cover girl" for Madison House, and appeared on a 2003 cover of Tennessee Assisted Living Magazine. She was also featured in the fall 2003 issue of the John Deere, healthTalk magazine.

On Aug. 29, 2004, 67 friends and family members joined for a life-celebration in honor of Mrs. Warren's 90th birthday.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Raymond Lafayette Warren in 1987; and by her son, Allen Ray Warren in 1993.

Survivors include four devoted children: well-known coach, Dickey Warren and wife Nancy of Kingsport, Mike Warren and wife Kayla of Johnson City, Judy Warren Fox and husband Gene of Jonesborough, and Mary Warren Smith and husband Roger of Soddy Daisy, Tenn. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren; family friend, Milton Rosenberg of Jonesborough; and her Madison House "family."

The Warrens wish to thank the wonderful caregivers at Madison House and Brookhaven Manor, her dedicated and loving companion-caregivers, Brenda Lane and Margaret Fleenor, and all of the other "Margarets" she has known and loved.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, downtown Kingsport.

The committal service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Oak Hills cemetery Mausoleum with Dr. Jack Parrott officiating.

Honorary pallbearers will be Warren Smith, Tony Smith, Roger Smith, Gene Fox, Hank Hare, Terry Utsman, Jeff Warren and Milton Rosenberg.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Madison House Aviary Fund, 2000 Greenway St., Kingsport, TN 37660.

Robert Whisenhunt, 73, Kingsport.
KINGSPORT - Graveside services for Robert George Whisenhunt, 73, of Kingsport, who passed away Thursday (Feb. 24, 2005), will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday at Oak Hill cemetery with the Rev. Brian Schuler officiating.

Carter-Trent Funeral Home, downtown, is in charge of arrangements.

Sallie Wolfe, 82, Big Stone Gap, Va.
BIG STONE GAP, Va. - Sallie Wolfe, 82, passed away Monday (Feb. 28, 2005)at Lonesome Pine Hospital, Big Stone Gap, Va.

She was a member of the 1st Christian Church of Appalachia, the Rebecca Lodge, and a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church Women's Circle #7. She was an organizing member of the Appalachia Rescuettes. She was a foster grandparent with the Senior Citizens at Powell Valley Primary School.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Wolfe.

Surviving are three sons and daughters-in-law, Jim and Carol Wolfe, Cincinnati, Ohio, Hershel and Lois Wolfe, Stafford, Va., Allen and Vonda Wolfe, Appalachia, Va.; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Mary Jane and Joe Teglas, Big Stone Gap, Va.; brother and sister-in-law, Billy and Diane Couch, Big Stone Gap, Va.; several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Roy A. Green Funeral Home, Appalachia, Va.

Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. today in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Garrett Lee officiating.

Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Powell Valley Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the 1st Christian Church of Appalachia.

John (Joey) Bailey, 70, Jonesville, Va.
JONESVILLE, Va. - John (Joey) Bailey, 70, passed away Saturday (Feb. 26, 2005) at Lee Regional Medical Center, Pennington Gap, Va.

He was a lifelong resident of Lee County and was owner of Bailey's Exxon. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.

He was a deacon of Faith Baptist Church. He was saved at the age of 37 on Saturday, Sept. 11, 1971, at Friendship Baptist Church with the Rev. Ralph Duncan bringing the message, "And Heaven Came Down." He was ordained as a deacon of Friendship Baptist Church on Oct. 5, 1975.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Taft and Estelle Bailey.

Surviving are his wife, Irene Bailey, Jonesville; three sons, David Bailey and Rex Bailey, both of Knoxville, Scott Bailey and wife Linda, Jonesville; granddaughter, Lindsey Bailey; stepgrandson, Josh Fleenor; one brother, Charles Bailey and wife Lafern, Ashville, Ohio; one sister, Carol Pendleton and husband Clayton, Jonesville; a host of other relatives and friends.

Calling hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Arney-Mullins Funeral Home, Jonesville.

Services will follow at 8 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. John Zion and the Rev. Carroll Wallen officiating.

Burial will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Lee Memorial Garden, Woodway, Va.

Pallbearers will be John Byrum, John Crusenberry, Gary Johnson, Steve Bailey, Clayton Pendleton and Alan Smith.

C. Herman Brummett, 90, Kingsport.
Services for C. Herman Brummett, 90, of Kingsport, who went to meet his Lord on Saturday (Feb. 26, 2005), will be conducted at 2 p.m. today in the chapel of Carter-Trent Funeral Home, Kingsport, with Dr. Frank Crawford officiating.

Music will be provided by Calvary Baptist Church.

Committal services and burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Calling hours are from 12 noon to 2 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Billy Brummett, Billy Hutchins, Tony Brummett, Chuck Jeremias, Randall Garber and Wesley Taylor.

Honorary pallbearers will be Gene Williams, Eddie Williams, John Williams and Joe Brookman.

Those who wish may make memorial contributions to the music department of Calvary Baptist Church, 1238 Pine Street, Kingsport, TN 37664.

Elbert Lewis Boggs, 58, Pound, Va.
POUND, Va. - Elbert Lewis Boggs, 58, died Sunday (Feb. 27, 2005) at his residence in Pound.

Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced on Wednesday by Baker Funeral Home, Pound, Va.

Garnie "Tootsie" Christian, 65, Kingsport.
KINGSPORT - Garnie "Tootsie" Christian, 65, 3309 Ketron Drive, passed away Saturday (Feb. 26, 2005) at Indian Path Medical Center.

Garnie was the son of the late John D. and Cora Bell Carter Christian. He was a native of Hawkins County and had been a resident of Bradenton, Fla., for 15 years and Kingsport for the past 13 years. He was a 1958 graduate of Church Hill High School.

He was a former employee for AFG Greenland, Tropicana Glass Plant and Tennessee Department of Transportation.

In addition to his parents, Garnie was preceded in death by a sister, Denean Dewald; six brothers, Bob, J.W., Eldridge, Ben, A.V., and Johnny Christian.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia Fondaw Christian, of the home; a daughter, Sabra Kerznar, and a son, Joel Christian, both of Bradenton, Fla.; two sisters, Vesta Berry of Kingsport and Dorothy Price of Bristol; five grandchildren, Kaelyn Paulson, Cameron Christian, Cole Christian, Kya Kerznar and Koye Kerznar; his father-in-law, Edward Fondaw; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will be receiving friends from 12 noon to 6 p.m. Saturday, March 5, 2005 at the home, 3309 Ketron Drive, Kingsport.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations, to aid in medical expenses, be made to the "Patricia Christian Special Account" at any AmSouth Bank.

Serving the family of Garnie "Tootsie" Christian is Snyder's Funeral Home, Gray.

Wave Franklin Fraley, 90, Kingsport.
Committal services for Thelma Wave Franklin Fraley, 90, Kingsport, formerly of Duffield, Va., who entered into rest early Saturday morning (Feb. 26, 2005), will be conducted at 10 a.m. today at the McKinney-Carter cemetery in Duffield. Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. for procession to the cemetery.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

The Duffield Funeral Home at Thomas Village is in charge of arrangements.
