Rev. Donald Broyles, 73, Church Hill.
Services for Rev. Donald Eugene Broyles, 73, Church Hill, who passed away Thursday (March 31, 2005), will be conducted at 2 p.m. today in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel, Church Hill, with the Rev. Lyle Housewright officiating.

Calling hours are from 12:30 to 2 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Burial will follow in Church Hill Memory Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Tony Broyles, Jim Hall, Herman Morrison, Austin Morrison, Harry Morrison and Jerry Crawford.

Honorary bearers will be James Crawford and Robert Crawford.

Norma Jean Carroll, 47, Limestone.
LIMESTONE - Norma Jean Whitaker Carroll, 47, Limestone, passed away Thursday morning (March 31, 2005) at her home.

Born in Limestone, she had lived most of her life in Washington County. She had worked in several occupations, but first and most importantly was her home.

Norma attended Friendship Free Will Baptist Church.

Her father, Hobert Whitaker; two nephews; and several aunts and uncles preceded her in death.

Surviving are her husband, Tommy Carroll, of the home; two daughters, Mary Ellen Keplinger, Jonesborough, and Amanda Jean Holland, Johnson City; two sons, Jerry Lee Miller, Jonesborough, and Scotty Lynn Littleton, Knoxville; three stepchildren, Tracy Carroll and Jody Carroll, both of Chuckey, and Craig Carroll, Church Hill; two grandchildren, Laura Lynn Weeks and Howard Leonard Hensdill II; three step-grandchildren; her mother, Mattie Bowser and husband, Archie, Jonesborough; two sisters, Martha Dykes, Jonesborough, and Gladys Inscore, Fall Branch; three brothers, Stanley Whitaker, Gray, Donnie Whitaker, and Ronnie Whitaker, both of Elizabethton; several nieces and nephews, including three special, Ross, Tammy, and Susan; and special friend, "Sis" Rheba Sherfey, Johnson City.

Calling hours are from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. today at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Fall Branch.

Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at the Fall Branch Chapel with Rev. Bob Simpson and Rev. Mike Hubbard officiating.

Burial will follow at Oak Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Rex Miller, Lacy Miller, Tommy Keplinger, Freddie Gregg, Eddie Massengill, Clint Penley, Bud Holland, Chub Simpson, and Kenny Miller.

Reba Sams Caudill, 88, Kingsport.
Graveside services for Reba Sams Caudill, 88, Kingsport, who passed away Friday (April 1, 2005), will be conducted at 2 p.m. today at Oak Hill cemetery with family and friends serving as pallbearers.

Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery by 1:55 p.m.

At Reba's request, contributions may be made to the Lynn Garden Baptist Church, 301 May Ave., Kingsport, Tenn.

Carter-Trent Funeral Home, downtown Kingsport, is serving the family of Reba Caudill.

Judith Deanne Creech, Blackwater, Va.
BLACKWATER, Va. - Judith Deanne (Ayerst) Creech was born on Feb. 23, 1944 and passed from this life on Thursday (March 31, 2005).

Judy was born in Ann Arbor, Mich., later moving to Blackwater, Va., in 1977, where she met and married Carson Creech.

Judy was saved at an early age and stated to her loving husband, "I don't fear dying because I can be with my Jesus."

She was preceded in death by her father and mother and one sister.

Survivors include her husband, Carson Creech, Blackwater; one son and daughter-in-law, Joseph and Darlene Roark, Detroit, Mich.; a loving stepmom, Mary Ayerst; three nephews, all of Michigan. She also left behind a whole host of friends and neighbors who will miss her dearly.

Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. today in the Robinette Funeral Home, Blackwater, Va.

Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. today in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Robert Sloan officiating.

Private graveside services will be held at Monday in the Creech cemetery in Blackwater, Va.

Nathan Todd Ferrell, 35, Kingsport.
Graveside services for Nathan Todd Ferrell, 35, Kingsport, who went to be with the Lord on Saturday (March 26, 2005), will be conducted at 1 p.m. today in Oak Hill Memorial Park. Those wishing to attend the service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 12:45 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hunger First, 504 E. Center St., Kingsport, Tenn. 37660.

Oak Hill Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Sue Ellen Fraley, 63, Weber City, Va.
WEBER CITY, Va. - Graveside services for Sue Ellen Fraley, 63, who went to be with the Lord early Friday morning, will take place today at 2 p.m. at the Fraley cemetery with nephews serving as pallbearers.

Those wishing to attend the graveside service are requested to meet at Scott County Funeral Home at 1 p.m. to go in procession to the cemetery.

Carter-Trent/Scott County Funeral Home is serving the family of Sue Ellen Fraley.

George (Junior) Harber, 75, Oklahoma City, Okla.
OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. - George P. (Junior) Harber, 75, died March 27, 2005.

He was born on Nov. 26, 1929 to Ruby (Sprinkle) and George P. Harber in Pennington Gap, Va. He served our country proudly during the Korean Conflict. He and his wife, Wenoa, had been married for 52 years.

He was preceded in death by both parents; and one daughter, Kathy Smith.

He is survived by his wife, Wenoa Harber, of the home; son, Jerry Harber of Oklahoma City, Okla.; one brother, Jack Harber and his wife, Freda of Kingsport; and two nephews, Michael and Brian Harber.

Services to remember him will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Church of the Savior, 5600 N.W. 63rd St., Oklahoma City, Okla. 73132.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Church of the Savior.

Ella Baker Lester, 84, Kingsport.
KINGSPORT - Ella Baker Lester, 84, passed away Friday (April 1, 2005) at Holston Valley Medical Center.

She was born in Paynesville, W.Va., on Feb. 19, 1921 and was the daughter of the late Charlie L. Baker and Meade Mullins Baker. She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Lester was a member of Hope Primitive Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Porter Lester in 1998; three sisters and two brothers.

Surviving are her sons, Elmer Lester Sr. and wife Richalene, Kingsport, Delmar Lester Sr. and wife Thelma, Big Stone Gap, Va.; grandchildren, Elmer Lester Jr., Duffield, Va., Katherine Marie Hayes, Kingsport, Elma Kay Page, Kingsport, Delmar Lester Jr., Fredericksburg, Va., Richalene Laynn Campbell, Kingsport; great-grandchildren, Aaron and Sarah Page, Timothy and Jessica Lester, Logan and Cody Lester, Evan Philip Hayes; brother, Harrison Baker and wife Birdie, Kellysville, W.Va.; caregiver, Judy Young; several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Colonial Funeral Home, Weber City, Va.

Services will be conducted at the funeral home chapel at 8 p.m. today with Elder Ezra L. Davis Jr. and Elder Chad Crawford officiating.

Music will be provided by Janis Gaither.

Graveside services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Holston View Cemetery. The family and friends will meet at the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. to go in procession to the cemetery.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Madge Liddle, 74, Kingsport.
Services for Madge Hurd Liddle, 74, Kingsport, who went to be with the Lord on Friday (April 1, 2005), will be conducted at 2 p.m. today in the Oak Hill Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Wayne Baker officiating.

The family will receive friends from 12 noon to 2 p.m. today at Oak Hill Funeral Home.

Graveside services will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. today at East Lawn Memorial Park.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Sunbridge Hillside Manor, P.O. Box 3768, Kingsport, Tenn. 37664.

Thomas B. Rice, 79, Kingsport.
KINGSPORT - Thomas B. Rice, 79, died at his home Thursday (March 31, 2005) after an extended illness.

Born in Medora, Ill., he had resided in Kingsport since 1950. He was a Navy veteran and served during World War II.

Mr. Rice received his bachelor's degree in Chemistry from the University of the South and his master's degree from Oklahoma State University. He retired from Tennessee Eastman Company in 1986 after 36 years of service. Mr. Rice was an avid tennis and bridge player.

He was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church.

His son, Robert Dale Rice, preceded him in death.

Surviving are his wife, Alpha Rice, Kingsport; daughter, Donna Quillen and husband, Jeff, Kingsport; son, Thomas B. Rice Jr., and wife, Cheryl, Johnson City; five grandchildren, Alice Croft, Lisa Henley, Robert Rice, Rebecca Quillen, and Laura Quillen; two great-grandchildren, Olivia Croft and Dale Henley; several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends 2 to 4 p.m. today at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Berndt Hall.

A memorial service will be conducted at 4 p.m. today at the church with Rev. Edward J. Mills III officiating.

Mr. Rice requested his body be donated to science.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 161 E. Ravine Rd., Kingsport, Tenn. 37660.

Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport, is assisting the Rice family.

Billy G. Sells, 72, Gray.
GRAY - Billy G. Sells, 72, passed away Thursday (March 31, 2005) at home following a short illness.

He was a lifelong resident of the Gray community and graduated from Sulphur Springs High School. He was a member of the U.S. Army and served in the Korean War. He was retired from the Eastman, where he was a brick-mason for 35 years.

Mr. Sells was a Christian.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George W. Sells and Bessie Buckingham Sells; wife, Sarah Belle Cash Sells; one son, Steven Sells; one son-in-law, Jerry Blankenship; and 13 brothers and sisters.

Survivors include a very special lady of years, Barbara Cross of Gray; two daughters, Brenda Blankenship of Jonesborough, Teresa Jenkins and husband, Jerry of Gray; two sons, Jeff Sells and wife, Debbie of Jonesborough, Johnny Sells of Kentucky; daughter-in-law, Melanie Sells of Johnson City; two sisters, Blanche McCray of Gray and Lucille Wallace of Fall Branch; nine grandchildren, Sherry Booth, Michael Blankenship, Jimmy Sells, Jeremy Jenkins, Jody Jenkins, John Sells, Josh Sells, Johnny Lee Sells and Cissy Little; five great-grandchildren, Sadie Sells, Elijah Sells, Jackson Jenkins, Judson Jenkins, and Kamy Little.

Graveside services are today at 2 p.m. in the Gray cemetery with military honors.

Pallbearers will be grandsons and family.

Gray Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Dorothy Slaughter, 81, Kingsport.
KINGSPORT - Graveside services for Dorothy Strickler Slaughter, 81, of 5270 Ft. Henry Drive, who died Thursday (March 31, 2005), will be conducted at 2 p.m. today at Tri-Cities Memory Gardens.

Nephews will serve as pallbearers.

Memorials may be given to Fordtown Baptist Church, 444 Old Fordtown Road, Kingsport, Tenn., 37663.

Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, downtown, is in charge of arrangements.

Christopher Smith, 2, Kingsport.
KINGSPORT - Christopher Smith, 2, Kingsport, died Wednesday (March 30, 2005) at Indian Path Medical Center.

Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Carter-Trent Funeral Home, downtown.

Estle H. (Smitty) Smith, 90, Rogersville.
ROGERSVILLE - Estle H. (Smitty) Smith, 90, departed this life Friday (April 1, 2005).

He was of the Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by his father, Rev. Sam K. Smith; mother, Nannie Johnson Smith; sister, Douglas Hickman; brothers, Jeter, Earl, Charlie and "Bill" (Sam K. Smith, Jr.).

He is survived by his wife, Edith Arnold Smith; sons, John C. Smith Sr. and wife Janice, of Rogersville, Pearson Smith of Florida; grandsons, John C. Smith Jr., Chad Smith, Toby Smith; great-grandsons, Devin Smith, Sam Smith, Tucker Jennings, all of Rogersville; sister, Ida Dickenson; brothers, Lewis Smith, Fred Smith; several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Christian-Sells Funeral Home in Rogersville.

Services will be held at 8 p.m. today at the funeral home with the Rev. Ray Mullins officiating. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Hamblen Memory Gardens.

Leonard E. Wilkerson, 86, Kingsport.
KINGSPORT - Leonard E. Wilkerson, 86, of the Lone Star community, died late Saturday afternoon (April 2, 2005) at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center following a brief illness.

Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, downtown Kingsport.
