Gary C. Cooper, 67, Johnson City.
JOHNSON CITY - Gary C. Cooper, 67, passed away Monday (Oct. 24, 2005) in the Johnson City Medical Center.

Mr. Cooper was born on March 1, 1938, to the late Russell C. and Clara Ledford Cooper. He was a graduate of Dobyns-Bennett High School, and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Mr. Cooper was a retired account executive from Freddie Mac, and was a member of the Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity and a sponsor of the Stock Market Game.

Mr. Cooper is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Clay Cooper and wife Amanda, of Roanoke, Va.; one daughter, Christy Cooper Evans, of Johnson City; four grandchildren: Thomas D. Evans, V., Jessica Cooper, Clay Carlton Cooper, II, Noah William Cooper.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday at East Lawn Funeral Home.

Graveside services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday in the East Lawn Memorial Park. Military honors will be rendered by the Charles Dewitt Byrd VFW Post #3382.

Honorary pallbearers will be friends of Mr. Cooper.

Loretta Skelton Fields, 76, Kingsport.
KINGSPORT - Loretta Marie Skelton "Tot" Fields, 76, of 1904 Diana Road, fell into the arms of Jesus on Tuesday (Oct. 25, 2005) at Church Hill Health and Rehab Center following an extended illness.

Mrs. Fields was a native of Virginia but had spent most of her adult life in Hawkins and Sullivan Counties. She was a member of Bays Mountain Baptist Church and was a retired employee of the Kingsport Press. She loved her family, singing and living for the Lord.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Alexander Fields; one son, Mark Anthony "Tony" Skelton; her parents, William A. and Della Jones Short; three brothers, Nathaniel Short, J.P. Short and Ralph Short; one sister, Mary Ruth Short.

She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Johnny and Susan Skelton, Church Hill; one daughter, Judy Tunnell and companion, Scott Wolfe, Church Hill; stepchildren, Harlan Fields and wife, Maryanne, and Jennifer Baker; two granddaughters, Tammy Flannagan, Angie Brothers and husband, John; three great-grandchildren, Chelsea, Josh and Haleigh Flannagan; step-grandchildren, Lisa Long and husband, Chris, Steffany Winegar, Charlotte Hyatt and husband, Ronnie; seven step great-grandchildren; sisters, Betty Marshall and husband Howard, Kingsport, Bonnie Hayden, Church Hill; one brother, Junior Short, Church Hill; special friend, George W. Cloud and best friends, Pat Christian, Lagatha Rowan and Joyce Russell.

Calling hours are from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Johnson Funeral Home and anytime at the residence.

Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. today in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Lester Morelock, the Rev. Bobby Bernard and the Rev. Ed McLain officiating.

Graveside services will be conducted Saturday at 11 a.m. at Church Hill Memory Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Johnny Skelton, Greg Fields, Scott Wolfe, John Brothers, Vim Skelton and Ron Skelton.

Thomas Lynn Fink, 81, Baileyton.
BAILEYTON - Thomas Lynn Fink, 81, passed away Wednesday (Oct. 26, 2005) at Johnson City Medical Center.

Mr. Fink was an employee of Tennessee Eastman for 37 years and served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II. He was an outgoing and caring person who touched many lives.

He was a member of the Zion United Methodist Church where he taught the young adult class for many years. (Sunday School Class No. 2).

He was preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Clara Fink.

Survivors include his sister, Leona Fink Cochran; several cousins; and many friends.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Jeffers Mortuary in Greeneville, Tenn.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Zion United Methodist Church with Rev. Paul Miracle and Rev. A.C. Cobble officiating. The body will lie in state 30 minutes preceding the funeral service.

Interment will be in the Zion United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be James Davenport, Ronald Davenport, David Cochran, Shane McMurry, Norman Cooter, and Ken Loftis.

James T. Gibson, 66, Gray.
GRAY - James T. Gibson, 66, of Gray and formerly of Fall Branch, passed away Wednesday (Oct. 26, 2005) after a lengthy illness.

Jim served in the U.S. Navy after finishing high school and later he enjoyed travel as an over the road trucking operator. He retired to tend a small farm in Gray while enjoying the great outdoors.

His parents, William T. and Ruby Gibson; two brothers, Jack Gibson and Phillip Gibson preceded him in death.

Surviving are his wife, Fredith Gibson, Gray; three daughters, Gayle Edwards and husband Tony, Johnson City, Kim Zollinger and husband Steve, Gray, Amy Fortino and husband John, Knoxville; two stepdaughters, Charlotte Dockery and husband Tim, Fall Branch and Barbara Mooney, Kingsport; three grandchildren, Lauren and Logan Edwards and Dustin Surcey; three step-grandchildren, Anthony Mooney, Allen Dockery, and Tiffanie Mooney; one sister, Jane Carr and husband John, Fall Branch; one brother, Bill Gibson and wife Carolyn, Leesburg, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Fall Branch.

Services will follow at 8 p.m. at the Fall Branch Chapel with Rev. Victor Wallace officiating.

Entombment services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Washington County Memory Gardens.

Honorary pallbearers will be Allen Dockery, Anthony Mooney, Tony Carr, John B. Carr, Bill Gibson and Tim Dockery.

Kermit Harold Glazner, 98, Rogersville.
ROGERSVILLE - Kermit Harold Glazner, 98, formerly of Rogersville, died Thursday (Oct. 27, 2005) at Arbor Terrace in Knoxville.

He was a retired civilian mechanical engineer with the U.S. Navy and was a member of Rogersville First United Methodist Church.

Mr. Glazner was preceded in death by his wife, Mabel Elizabeth Bundrant Glazner; and parents, Emmitt and Mary Biere Glazner.

He is survived by his nephews, T.C. Bundrant and wife, Brenda of Kingsport, John Glazner of Indiana; great-nieces, Cathy Newman of Knoxville and Brooke Bundrant of Kingsport; great-nephew, Tim Bundrant; friend, Pat Bundrant both of Morristown; and great-great-niece, Julia Price of Knoxville.

Graveside service will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday at Highland cemetery with Rev. Carl Jones officiating.

Walter M. Golden, 60, Kingsport.
KINGSPORT - Walter M. Golden, 60, passed away Wednesday (Oct. 26, 2005) at Holston Valley Medical Center after a short illness.

Walt was born in White Plains N.Y. on Jan. 6, 1945, and had resided in the Tri-Cities since 1963. He was a 1963 graduate of Augusta Military Academy at Fort Defiance, Va., and attended East Tennessee State University.

He was a member of Reedy Creek Presbyterian Church in Orebank. Walter was employed by Heartland Express and previously by A&M Express and Yellow Coach.

Walt was preceded in death by his parents, Martin S. and Emily Golden.

Surviving are three daughters, Lisa Golden, Gray, Michelle Golden, Blountville and Mandy Butterworth, Bristol, Tenn.; two sons, Chad Golden, Hampton and Marty Golden and wife Beth, Jonesborough; five grandchildren, Parker Golden, Kingsport, Abagael Botts, Gray, Hunter Botts, Gray, Marshall Golden and Carter Golden, Jonesborough; one sister, Gail Golden, Woodlawn, Va.; one nephew, Marty Gaynor; and one niece, Jamie Gaynor.

Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Reedy Creek Presbyterian Church with Rev. Dr. Robert L. Lowry officiating.

Pallbearers will be Mike Kelly, Robert Bingham, Gary Caldwell, Gus Biddle, Mick Duncan and Mike McGolothlin.

Honorary pallbearers will be Ken Bass, Dennis Jones and a special friend, Gene Mullins.

Stephen C. "Hoover" Guy, 55, Kingsport.
KINGSPORT - Stephen C. "Hoover" Guy, 55, of 295 Bell St., Blountville, went to be with the Lord Wednesday (Oct. 26, 2005) at Holston Valley Hospital after a brief battle with brain cancer.

He was born in Kingsport, and was a lifelong resident of Sullivan County. He graduated from Lynn View High School in 1968, and was employed at Weyerhaeuser. He also was a Vietnam veteran. Steve loved to hunt, fish, and play golf. He was the former owner of Hoover's Bait and Tackle Shop.

He was a member and deacon of Blessed Hope Baptist Church. Steve loved his church and his church family. His greatest joy was doing Sunday night prayer room and being a witness door-to-door.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Curtis Lee and Edyth Elizabeth Meade Guy; and a brother, David Lynn Guy.

Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Janet Hope Guy of the home; a daughter, Kristie Guy Bushong and husband John of Raleigh, N.C.; a son, Brian Guy and wife Karen of Jonesborough; two loving grandchildren, Noah and Abbigail; two loving caregivers, mother and father-in-law, Carl and Jewel Gragg; a sister, Regina Drennen; a brother, Mitchell Guy and wife Jewel of Kingsport; two nieces, Crystal and Laura Guy; one nephew, Spike Guy of Kingsport; special friends, Al Thoda, Clayton Vaughn, Don Canter and Wayne Bowman; and lots of uncles, aunts, cousins.

The family will receive friends at Oak Hill Funeral Home from 5 to 7 p.m. today.

Services will be conducted at Blessed Hope Baptist Church in Midway on Saturday at 1 p.m. with Pastor Stanley Sims officiating.

Military graveside services will immediately follow at Tri-Cities Memory Gardens in Blountville with military rites being performed by Charles DeWitt Byrd Post #3382 of the VFW.

Pallbearers will be Wayne Routh, Mack Begley, Steve Donihue, Don Jones, Jerry Gibbons and Earl Hulse.

The family would like to thank Dr. Ananthula and colleagues for their love and compassionate care for Steve. His last days were made peaceful and comfortable. The family would also like to thank Eastman employees who made it possible for Hope and Brian to spend time with Steve during his last days. God Bless You.

Earl Stanley Hale, 87, Gray.
GRAY - Earl Stanley Hale, 87, 264 Roscoe Fitz Rd., Gray, passed away early Wednesday morning (Oct. 26, 2005) after a long illness at Life Care Center of Gray.

He was born and resided in Washington County (Gray Community) all his life.

Mr. Hale was a son of the late Pearl Mohlar and Hobert Hale. He was a charter member of Greenvale Baptist Church of Gray. He served in the military in France and Germany and received a Purple Heart during World War II. He retired from the Tennessee Eastman Company as an operator, and had farmed all his life.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Edith Hale in July 2003; two brothers, Bill Hale and Norman Hale; and one sister, Delta Chase.

He is survived by one son Gary Wayne (Judy) Hale of Gray; one daughter, Linda (Larry) Ferguson of Gray; one brother, Lee Hale of the Boones Creek Community; three grandchildren, Jaime Ferguson, Whitney Estepp, and Danielle Street; five great-grandchildren, Ben, Aleah, and Caden Street, and Noah and Mallory Estepp.

The family will receive friends today from 2 to 4 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m. in the Gray Funeral Home Chapel and at anytime at the home of the daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Larry, 262 Roscoe Fitz Rd, Gray.

Services will be held at 7 p.m. with Rev. Paul Manis and Rev. Don Hilton officiating and organist, Betty Jenkins.

Graveside services, with military honors by the VFW Post #3382, will be held Saturday morning at 11 a.m. in the Gray Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be friends and family.

Mrs. Maude L. Hill, Griffin, Ga.
GRIFFIN, Ga. - Mrs. Maude L. Hill, formerly of Kingsport, passed away October 21, 2005 at Sunbridge Care and Rehabilitation of Griffin, Ga.

Mrs. Hill was born in Rogersville, December 18, 1915, to the late Mr. and Mrs. David D. Richards.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Milo Hill; two sisters, Annie Jones and Mae Blankenbeckler; two brothers, Hobert J. Richards and Ralph D. Richards; and grandson, Kerry Lee Hill.

Survivors include a daughter, Shirley Elmore of Griffin, Ga.; a son, Johnnie M. Hill, Jr. and wife, Judith of Panama City, Fla.; one brother, Dan E. Richards of Kingsport; two sisters, Ruth Garland of Ft. White, Fla., and Lillian (Jim) East of Kingsport; two grandsons, Michael M. (Annette) Stanifer and Kelly R. (Pamela) Hill; two granddaughters, Jamie (Hector) Quintero and Susan (John) Pelucheuski; three great-grandsons, Kyle and Nolan Quintero and Drake Stanifer; one great-granddaughter, Mallory Quintero; sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews also survive.

Memorial services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Faith Bible Tabernacle, Hilton Highway, Hiltons, Va.

Interment will be at a later date at Carter's Valley, Herman Methodist Church Cemetery.

Alpha Johnson, 85, Rose Hill, Va.
ROSE HILL, Va. - Alpha Bernice Johnson, 85, of Mantua, Ohio, passed away Monday (Oct. 24, 2005) at Robinson Memorial Hospital.

She was born in Lee County, Va. on Jan. 20, 1920 and was the daughter of the late John and Mae (Clifton) Ingle.

In addition to her parents, Alpha was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil J. Johnson; brother, Ray Ingle; and a sister, Hazel Davis.

Surviving are her son, Roy Johnson of Mantua, Ohio; grandchildren, Randy Johnson of Deerfield, Ohio, Sandy Johnson of Mantua, Ohio and Tammy Howe of Cumberland Gap, Tenn.; 11 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; stepmother, Annie Ingle of Pennington Gap, Va.; step-sisters, Mary Gibson of Ravenna, Ohio, Zella Vance of North Carolina, Mildred Haynes of Virginia, Jeanie Gilbert and Patricia Crider, both of Kentucky; step-brother, Ralph Ingle of Virginia and sister-in-law, Gracie Payne of Ewing, Va.

Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Arney-Mullins Funeral Home in Rose Hill, Va.

Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. L.J. Ellis officiating.

Burial will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in the VanHuss Grove cemetery in Rose Hill, Va. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the funeral home at 1 p.m. and go in procession to the cemetery.

Nephews will serve as pallbearers.

Marian Swann Jones, 82, Thomasville, N.C.
THOMASVILLE, N.C. - Services for Marian Swann Jones, 82, of Kingsport, who passed away Tuesday (Oct. 25, 2005) at Britthaven Nursing Home in Thomasville, N.C. will be conducted at 11 a.m. today at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport, with Dr. Frank Crawford officiating.

Burial will follow at East Lawn Memorial Park.

Memorials may be made to Calvary Baptist Church, 1238 Pine Street, Kingsport, Tenn. 37664.

Calista Danielle Maynard, 21-days-old, Kingsport.
KINGSPORT - Calista Danielle Maynard, 21-days-old, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday (Oct. 25, 2005) at her residence.

She is the daughter of Jamie Maynard and Elizabeth Lawson.

At this time friends may call anytime at the home of her aunt, Venetia Norton, 1621 G St., Kingsport.

Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Carter-Trent Funeral Home, Kingsport.

Graveside services forTommy Morelock, 51, of the Beech Creek community, Kingsport, who died Monday afternoon (Oct. 24, 2005), will be conducted at 11 a.m. today at Mt. Carmel Freewill Baptist Church cemetery in Rogersville. Those attending the graveside service should meet at the cemetery by 10:50 a.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, c/o Wanda Grills, 1217 Radcliffe Avenue, Kingsport, Tenn. 37664.
