Floyd Nathan “Spider” Flowers was born July 27, 1909, in Overton Co. TN. His parents, T.H. and Bettie (Huckaby) Flowers lived on the present George Reeder Road, Taylor Crossroads.
Floyd had six brothers- James Harrison Flowers of Monterey, TN, David and Johnnie Flowers of Monroe, Tn., William, Walden and Bennie Flowers of Jamestown, Tn. and two sisters- Causey Winningham of Robbinstown, Tn and Audie Flowers of Jamestown, Tn.
The Flowers family moved to Jamestown in 1920. Floyd had his first job at the age ten. He had many jobs over the years- building roads, mailman, plummer, carpenter and electrician. In the late years he built and sold shell homes. He and his wife owned the 127 Market and gifts and Produce Market before retiring.
Floyd and Ollie Ann (Brooks) Flowers were married sixty-one years.
He is survived by four children- Floyd Leon Flowers of Indiana., Jana Humphrey of Oak Ridge, Tn., Virginia O’Rear and Betty Rains of Cookeville, Tn.
The Grandchildren are Debbie Benedito of Georgia, David Flowers of Indiana, Dale Flowers of Florida, Niki Beal and Pamela Rains of Cookeville, Tn. and Cullen T. Humphrey of Knoxville, Tn.
The Great-Grandchildren are- Sidney and Lauren Benedito of Georgia, Travis Flowers of Jamestown, Tn, Samuel Beal of Cookeville, Tn, Cuylar Humphrey of Oak Ridge, Tn, and Jahauna and C.T Humphrey IV of Knoxville, Tn.
He was preceded in death by all of his siblings, his wife Ollie, Grandson - Stephen O’Rear and son-in-law Perry Rains.
