CARROLL, JEAN, age 64, of Rose Hill, Va., passed away Sunday, December 27, 1998, in the Appalachian Regional Healthcare Hospital in Middlesboro, Ky. Funeral services will be Tuesday, December 29, 1998, 2:00 p.m. at Westside Chapel with Rev. Austin Long officiating. Interment to follow in the McCollough Cemetery. Westside Chapel Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

DAVIS, REV. DR. ERNEST JR., formerly of Morristown, passed away Monday, Dec. 28 at Vassav Hospital, Poughkeepsie, New York. Anyone wishing to contact his local family may reach them at 6153 Silver Fox Trail, Morristown, Phone No. 586-6391. Funeral arrangements will be announced later by Dockery Funeral Home.

KING, WANDA S., 76, of Route 3, Bean Station, passed away early this morning at Lakeway Regional Hospital. Funeral arrangements will be announced by Stetzer Funeral Home in Morristown.

MILEY, BRUCE MORGAN, age 50, of 2856 Boatman Mountain Rd., Morristown, passed away December, 26,1998 at Morristown-Hamblen Healthcare. He was of the Baptist faith. Preceded in death by his father, Hubert Miley. Survivors: wife, Mimi F. Miley of Morristown; mother, Laura Miley of Morristown; daughter and son-in-law, Jeanne and Bobby Tharp of Morristown; daughter, Tammy Miley; granddaughters, Beverly and Derica Tharp; grandson, Isiah Miley; several aunts and uncles. Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Mayes Mortuary with Rev. Benny Jones officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday at the mortuary. Mayes Mortuary in charge of arrangements.

GUINN, HARVEY, 90, of Talbott, passed away Sunday, Dec. 27,1998 at his home. He was a World War II Army veteran. Preceded in death by first wife, Sarah; parents, Kate and James Guinn; sister, Tilta Ballinger; brothers, Jess, William and Frank Guinn; nephews, Jim Guinn, John and wife Laquietta Guinn; granddaughter, Sharon Pryor Roach. Survived by wife, Mary J. Guinn; daughter and son-in-law, Patsy and Gene Kinder; step-granddaughters and husband, Debbie Pryor, all of Talbott, Kara Kinder of Knoxville, Suzanne and Roger Maples of Rutledge, Ann and Junior Berry of New Market; step grandsons and wife, John P. and Faye Guinn, Matt Kinder of Morristown; step-great-grandchildren, Patty, Pam, and Mike Berry, Mike Pryor, Chasity Guinn, Preston Mills Guinn, Laquiesta Guinn; step great- great grandchild, Michayla Gaby; nieces and nephews, Hazle Lowery, Mary Nell and James Oaks, Linda and David Lowe, Frank and Terri Guinn, David and Janie Guinn, Katherine (Boots), and Elmer Oaks, Charles and Shirley Guinn, and Imogene Neal; sister, Lula Campbell of Rutledge. Funeral service 8 p.m. Tuesday at Fielden Chapel with Brother Richard Crayne officiating. Family and friends will meet at Jefferson Memorial Garden Wednesday for a 11 a.m. graveside service. The family will receive friends Tuesday 6-8 p.m. at Fielden Funeral Home, New Market. Fielden Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

SEAL, ALICE LAURA NEAL, age 96, of Sneedville, passed away Monday, December 28, 1998 at the Hancock Manor Nursing Home. She was born May 3, 1902. She was a member of the Sneedville United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Isaac Winton Seal; daughter, Ora Agnes Seal and parents, George W. Neal and Susan B. Sargent Neal; sisters, Ora Seal, Ada Alder Trent; brothers, Oscar and Roy Neal. Survivors: son, Rev. Elmer M. Seal of Maryville; granddaughter, Alice Faye Seal King of Maryville; grandsons, Kenneth M. Seal of Maryville, Jimmy M. Seal of Maryville; great-grandchildren, Marclyn Rogers, Kennon Seal, Jenny Seal Willis, Libby Seal, Jason Seal, Justin Seal, all of Maryville; great-great grandchildren, Joshua King, Michelle Rogers and Cody Willis, all of Maryville; several nieces and nephews and a host of friends. Funeral services 2 p.m. Wednesday, December 30, 1998 at the McNeil Funeral Home in Sneedville. Rev. Luther Lawson and Rev. Lyle White officiating. Interment in the Seal Cemetery 3 p.m. Wednesday. HIGHTOWER, REV. JAMES ROBERT, 68, of Whitesburg, went to be with the Lord, Friday, Dec. 25, 1998 at Vanderbilt University Hospital. He was preceded in death by his father, Clarence Hightower and brothers, Randall and Adrian; sister, Ruth Wanda Hightower. Survivors: his wife, Gloria; his children, Dwaine Hightower, Debra Pope, Tim Hightower; four grandchildren; mother, Beulah Hightower; brothers, Truman, Lonnie, Elmo, Luther and Johnny. BULL, GEORGE WASHINGTON (JOE), age 101, of Tazewell, TN., was born Dec. 22, 1897, passed away on Dec. 27, 1998 at Claiborne County Hospital. He was a deacon of Seal Chapel Missionary Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Henderson and Mary Angline (Molly) Smith Bull; daughter, Wilma Allene Bull; son, Virch Bull; wife, Birdie Ramsey Bull; brothers, Claude, Will, Silas; sisters, Ella Hall, Jane Barnes, Axie Burke, Emily Seals; grandchildren, Carl Bull, Roy Lee and Stella Mae Bull, Dennis Ray Dykes and James Paul Greer. Survived by: sons and daughters-in-law, Glen and Irene Bull of Springfield, Ohio, Lillion and Edna Bull of Speedwell, TN., Everett (Cotton) Bull of Tazewell, TN., Roy and Annis Bull of Sevierville, TN., Fred and Anna Bull, Rev. LANE, CAPTAIN RAYMOND D., age 69, departed this life on December 27, 1998 at Fort Sanders Hospital after a lengthy illness. He was a member of Montvue Baptist Church and retired Battalion Chief of the Morristown Fire Department. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Delores Glenn; parents, Ernest and Emily Lane, and brother, Ernest Lane Jr. Survivors: wife of 51 years, Imogene Lane; daughters, Darlene Arnold and Diane Musslewhite; son, Donald Ray Lane; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sisters, Doris Carson, Louise Rines, and Trish Weaver; brothers, Theodore Lane of Louisiana and Harold Lane of Arizona; special friend, brother-in-law, Wayne Williams. Services will be 8 p.m. Wednesday at Mayes Mortuary with Rev. Lewis Weaver officiating. The family will receive family and friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Mortuary. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Bethesda Cemetery. Mayes Mortuary in charge of arrangements.

CAGLE, EILEEN, 77, passed away Wednesday, December 30 at Morristown-Hamblen Hospital. Mrs. Cagle is survived by son, Mike, of Morristown and daughter, Pat, of Columbus, Ga.; two sisters, Inez Spurling, Newport and Danila Wiers, Va.; two brothers, D.C. Brooks and H.G. Brooks, both of Bridgeport. Private graveside services 11 a.m. Saturday at Hamblen Memory Gardens. Stetzer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

CARTER, LONNIE CLARENCE, age 58, of Rutledge, Tenn., died Wednesday, December 30, 1998 at James H. Quillen VA Medical Center in Mountain Home, Tenn. He was born in High Point, N.C. and moved to the Kingsport area when he was two years old. He was a graduate of Dobyns-Bennett High School, and then entered the U.S. Air Force, where he spent over 21 years of service as a criminal investigator for the Air Force, where he was honorably discharged. He was of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by his father, James William (J.W.) Carter. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Deborah (Bartee) Carter, Rutledge, TN.; one son, Victor Wayne Carter, Rutledge; his mother, Mrs. Irene Parsons Carter Dishner, Kingsport; two grandchildren, Victoria Ellen Carter, Rutledge, TN., Connor Steven Chick, N.C.; one sister, Mrs. Richard (Margaret) Nelson, Kingsport; special aunt and uncle, Inez and Morton Mitchell, Kingsport; uncle, A.B. Parsons, Kingsport; one niece, Barbara Letcher and one nephew, Daniel Willis. Calling hours are from 4-6 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 2, 1999 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, downtown Kingsport. Funeral services will be conducted at Carter-Trent Funeral Home Chapel, on Saturday, Jan. 2, 1999 at 6 p.m. with Rev. Terry Winstead and Rev. David Marshall officiating. Military graveside services will be Monday, Jan. 4, 1999 at 11 a.m. at Mt. Home National Cemetery, with V.F.W. Charles DeWitt Byrd Post No. 3382 in charge. Pallbearers will be the V.F.W. Color Guard. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, c/o Mrs. James Page, 409 Canongate Rd., Kingsport, TN. 37660. Carter-Trent Funeral Home, downtown Kingsport, is in charge of arrangements.

JARNAGIN, MICKEY, age 41, of Whitesburg, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 29, 1998. He was a member of Creech’s Chapel Methodist Church, and was preceded in death by parents Bobby Joe and Polly McBride Jarnagin; niece, Amy Jarnagin. He is survived by Harold and Sandra, Jason and Michelle. Funeral services 11 a.m. Friday at Stubblefield Funeral Home, with Rev. Danny Gregg officiating. Interment will be in Creech’s Chapel Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. Thursday at Stubblefield Funeral Home in Morristown. Stubblefield Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
