FARMER, VIRGINIA OPAL, 74, a resident of Morristown, died Tuesday, Dec. 22, 1998 at Morristown-Hamblen Healthcare. She was preceded in death by her parents, McKinley and Leona Carpenter, and brothers Lloyd and Grand Carpenter. Mrs. Farmer was of the Baptist faith. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today at Allen Funeral Home Chapel, with interment to follow in Bethesda Cemetery. Allen Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

JACKSON, ONEIDA E., a resident of Morristown and a former resident of Virginia, died Monday, Dec. 21 at UT Hospital in Knoxville. A memorial service will be held at Dockery Funeral Home at noon Saturday, Dec. 26. Dockery Funeral Home is in charge.

SEABROOK, REV. DENNIS L., 83, a former resident of Morristown, died Thursday morning at Rogersville hospital. Arrangements are incomplete. Dockery Funeral Home is in charge.

COLLINS, HALL, 71, of Bean Station, passed away Monday, Dec. 21, 1998 at Morristown-Hamblen Hospital. Funeral services to be announced later by the Mooresburg Chapel of Stubblefield Funeral Home.

DAVIS, MARY O. LAWSON, age 72, of Morristown, passed away December 19, 1998 at Morristown-Hamblen Healthcare System. She was a member of Buffalo Trail Baptist Church, and was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Ella Mae Lawson; a brother, Fred Burgin; and a sister, Ethel Barnett. Survivors include: husband, Emory C. Davis; sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Linda Davis, Steve and Gayle Davis; daughters and sons-in-law, Gail and Gary Hudgens, Marlene and Dennis Alvis, all of Morristown; grandchildren, Talyion Tompkins, Buffie Simerly, Joshua Davis, Rob Hudgens, Lindsay and Keith Alvis; great-grandchildren, Coleman and Connor Tompkins, Isaiah Simerly, Emily and Erika Hudgens; brother, Carroll Lawson, Maryland; sisters, Vergie Arnold, Ottley Drinnon, Ellen Hall, Lola McDavid, all of Kingsport; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 22, at Buffalo Trail Baptist Church with Dr. Kenyn Cureton officiating Graveside services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 23, at Hamblen Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening 6:00 p.m. till 8:00 p.m. prior to services, at Buffalo Trail Baptist Church. Memorial donations can be made to Buffalo Trail Baptist Church Debt Retirement Fund. Mayes Mortuary in charge of arrangements.

DRINNON, BLANCHE MARIE YOUNT, age 76, of 8150 St. Claire Rd., Whitesburg, passed away Monday, December 21, 1998, at Laughlin Memorial Hospital in Greeneville. She was a faithful member of Cool Branch Baptist Church, Sneedville, where she was active until her death. Preceded in death by her father, A.W. Yount; mother, Katie Little Williams Yount; infant daughter, Janice Lee Drinnon; beloved brothers, Hugh M. Yount and Earl Yount. Survivors include her husband of sixty years, Harvey H. Drinnon; daughters, W. Janette Melton, Whitesburg and Angela D. Ross, Atlanta; son, Randall Drinnon, Rogersville; grandchildren, Shelia C. Janeway, Whitesburg, Randy Drinnon, Rogersville, Samuel Drinnon Ross and Madison Jane Ross, Atlanta; great-granddaughter, Liza Brooks, Whitesburg; brother, Warren G. Yount, Whitesburg; sister, Juanita Y. Greene, Sneedville and aunt, Bobbie Williams Yount, Knoxville; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Tuesday 8:00 p.m. at Westside Chapel with Rev. Ted Trent and Rev. Tommy Seals officiating. Graveside service Wednesday 10:00 a.m. in Hamblen Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. For those who wish, memorial contributions may be made to Cool Branch Baptist Church, P.O. HICKEY, IRENE WHITT, age 78, Ridgeview Terrace Nursing Home in Rutledge, passed away Saturday, December 19, 1998 at Morristown-Hamblen Hospital. She was a member of Blue Springs Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her husband, J.C. Hickey; daughter, Sandra Gail Hickey; brother, George Whitt and sister, Hazel Kitts, both of Knoxville. Survivors include: sons, Jackie Hickey of New Market and Dale Hickey of Rutledge; grandchildren, Craig and Keith Hickey of New Market, Eric, Amber, Preston and Joseph, all of Rutledge; brother, Eugene Whitt and sister Mary McHanley of Knoxville; sister-in-law, Stella Hickey of Ridgeview Terrace Nursing Home in Rutledge. Funeral services for Mrs. Hickey will be held Tuesday evening, December 22, 1998 at 8:00 p.m. in the Smith Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. J.C. Morgan officiating. Graveside services will be held Wednesday morning at 10:30 a.m. in the Blue Springs Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m. in the Smith Funeral Home Chapel. Arrangements made by Smith Funeral Home in Rutledge.

HIGHLAND, HELEN RUTH, age 73, of Talbott, passed away Monday, December 21, 1998, at her residence. She attended Brimers Chapel Independent Holiness Church in Newport. Preceded in death by her parents, Aaron and Esther Birky Becker. Survivors include her husband, Bernard Highland; son, John Mark Highland, Talbott; daughter and son-in-law, Linda Kaye and Edward Lewis of Bradyville, TN.; granddaughter, Kayla Ruth Lewis. Funeral services will be Thursday, 10:00 a.m. at Westside Chapel with Rev. Phil Valentine officiating. Interment to follow in the Jefferson Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society. Westside Chapel Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

HILL, MR. LUNIS, age 78, of Harrogate, TN., passed away Dec. 21, 1998 at his home in Harrogate, TN. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Coffey Funeral Home in Harrogate. Funeral service 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 23, 1998 at Coffey Funeral Home Chapel. The body will lie in state 30 minutes before service. Burial in the Forge Ridge Cemetery. HUDSON, MISS LENA M., age 92, of Jefferson City, formerly of Knoxville, passed away Sunday morning, Dec. 20, 1998 after a long illness. She was the daughter of the late Joseph M. and Margaret Franklin Hudson. Also preceded in death by brothers and sisters, Ed Hudson, Mayme Greer, Lucy Hill, Eliza Rimmer, Ollie Kate Moore, Sallie White and Frank Hudson and she was also preceded in death by nieces and nephews, Kermit Hudson, Billy White, Margaret Hill, Jack Hill and Lena Mae Hill. She was a former member of the First Baptist Church of Knoxville where she served as the GA leader for a number of years. Presently she is a member of Leadvale Baptist Church of White Pine. Retired employee of the A&P Food Chain. Survived by nieces and nephews, Margaret Greene of White Pine, Mary Jo Miller of Talbott, Charles Hudson of Winchester, John Rimmer of Schertz, TX., Omer Rimmer of Williamsburg, VA., Gene Rimmer of Knoxville, Blair Hill of Jefferson City and Jay Swearingen of Lenexa, KS. Funeral services will be held 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 22, 1998 at Farrars White Pine Chapel with Rev. Charles Robison officiating. The family will receive friends 6 to 8:00 p.m. prior to services. Interment services will be held Wednesday morning, Dec. 23, 1998 at 11:00 a.m. in the White Pine Cemetery. Farrars of White Pine in charge of arrangements.

JACKSON, MISS ONEDIA, of Greystone Apts., Morristown, passed away this morning at UT Hospital, Knoxville. Funeral services will be announced later by Dockery Funeral Home, Morristown.

WINSTEAD, DARRELL WAYNE, “BURR RABBIT,” age 43, of Kyles Ford, TN., passed away Monday, December, 21, 1998 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center following an extended illness. He had lived through three kidney transplants and forty-two years of diabetes. A life long resident of Hancock County, Mr. Winstead was a former employee of Dodge Reliance Electric; a member of Chestnut Grove Baptist Church, and of McPearson Masonic Lodge No. 99 F&AM, Blackwater, VA.; He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Bill and Lillie Winstead; and his maternal grandparents, Simon and Nishie Castle. Survivors include his parents, Robert and Joyce Castle Winstead of Kyles Ford, TN.; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Brenda Winstead Maxey of Sneedville, TN., and Harold and Judy Winstead Lawson of Rogersville, TN.; a nephew, Anthony Wayne Maxey of Sneedville, TN.; a niece, Cherish Faith Lawson of Rogersville, TN. He leaves behind lots of aunts, uncles, and cousins. He had so many special friends that he loved so much. He will be missed so much by everyone. Calling hours will be 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 22, 1998 at Broome Funeral Home Rogersville. A Masonic service will be conducted 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home by McPearson Masonic Lodge No. 99 F&AM. Funeral service will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 23, 1998 in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Earl Bowlin and Rev. Leslie Griffie officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery. Broome Funeral Home in charge.
