PRICE, ANDREW JACKSON “JACK”, 91, of 125 Marion Street, Rogersville, passed away Sunday, Nov. 15, 1998 at Takoma Adventist Hospital, Greeneville, TN. He was a farmer for many years and was retired from the Card and Label Co., Inc. Calling hours will be 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday, Nov. 16, 1998 at Broome Funeral Home, Inc., Rogersville. Funeral service will be conducted 8:00 p.m. Monday, Nov. 16, 1998 in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Richard Cassidy officiating. Graveside service will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Hawkins County Memorial Gardens. Broome Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

REECE, MARY RUTH, age 80, of Russellville, passed away at her home, November 15, 1998. She was a member of Russellville Baptist Church, where she was a Sunday School teacher for many years. She was also an employee at Holmes Shoe Store for many years. Preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Stapleton; brothers, Ralph and Paul Stapleton. Survivors, husband, Herman Reece of Russellville; nieces, Pauline Grubb of Knoxville, Dorothy Johnson, Mary Jane McGlothin, Bertha Smith, and Thelma Willis., all of Morristown; nephews, Esco Heath of Russellville and Reece Clement of Tazewell; great-nieces, Terry and Pam; great-nephew, Jeff, all of Knoxville; sister-in-law, Mary Stapleton Munsey of Morristown. Services will be 7:30 p.m. Monday at Mayes Mortuary with Rev. Walter Brookshire officiating. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Bethesda Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Monday at the mortuary. Mayes Mortuary in charge of arrangements.

ROSE, FLOYD SNOWDEN, age 84, of Morristown, passed away November 13, 1998 at Lakeway Regional Hospital. He was a member of Bethel Baptist church in Ohio and was an Army veteran of W.W.II. Preceded in death by his wife, Alice T. Rose. Survivors: son, James Rose of Morristown; daughters, Carol Holland of Richmond, KY., Wanda Rogers of Cartersville, KY., Debbie Gooch of Dryfus, KY.; brothers, Sherman Rose and Louie Rose; grandchildren, Scott Rose, Cleve Moore, Randy Powell, Betty Sue, Nancy Powell, C.G. Gooch, Kathland Gooch, Dianna Fortenberry, Steven Fortenberry and Faith Sheperd. Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Mayes Mortuary with Rev. Ernest Wilson officiating. Military graveside services to follow in Jarnagin Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday and Monday at the mortuary. Mayes Mortuary in charge of arrangements.

WILSON, MR. LEE OTIS, age 91, of Rose Hill, VA., father and father-in-law of Cloy and Curt Fletcher of Tazewell, TN., has died. The family received friends 4-9 Sunday at Arney-Mullins Funeral Home in Rose Hill, VA. Funeral service 1:00 p.m. Monday at Arney-Mullins Funeral Home in Rose Hill. BARNES, JAMES W., age 57, of Morristown, passed away November 13,1998 at Morristown-Hamblen Healthcare. He was of the Baptist Faith and was a Veteran of Coast Guard. He had 34 years of service with Bell South, was a member of Telephone Pioneer and a long time Youth Baseball Coach for Parks and Recreation. Preceded in death by his parents, Myrtle and James A. Barnes, sister, Edith B. Ailey and brother, Raymond Barnes. Survivors: Wife of 30 years, Carol Barnes of Morristown; son, Matthew J. Barnes of Morristown; sister, Norma Jean Sinard of White Pine; brother, Charles E. Barnes of Biloxi, Miss.; granddaughter, Abigail Barnes. Services will be 8 p.m. Sunday at Mayes Mortuary with Rev. Richard Long officiating. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Jefferson Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Mayes Mortuary. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association or to Morristown Parks and Recreation Department. Mayes Mortuary in charge of arrangements.

COLLINS, O.J. (JIMMY), 74 years of age, a resident of Morristown, Tenn. formerly of Shelby Valley area passed away Tuesday Nov. 10, 1998 at the Fort Sanders Reg. Medical Center in Knoxville, Tenn. He was born April 10, 1924; the son of the late Ernest Edward and Flora Hall Collins. He was a retired miner and a member of Thomas C. Cecil Masonic Lodge #375. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Mary Collins. He is survived by one son, James E. Collins of Morristown, Tenn. and one daughter, Jimmie Louanne Taylor of Daytona Beach, Florida; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services were Saturday, Nov. 14, 1998, 1:00 p.m. R.S. Jones & Son Funeral Home. Ministers: Freewill Baptist. Visitation was at the chapel after 2:00 p.m. Friday Nov. 13, 1998. Masonic Rites were Friday evening at 7:00 p.m. by the Thomas C. Cecil Lodge #375. Interment: Davidson Memorial Gardens Ivel, Ky. Arrangements by R.S. Jones & Son Funeral Home, Virgie Chapel.

JAMES, SHERIDAN, 60, of Morristown, died Friday, November 13,1998 at his home. He was preceded in death by his parents, Erwin and Maxie Greene James. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, and was of the Pentecostal faith. Survivors include his sons, Kevin James of Morristown, Steven and Darrell James of Edmond, OK; daughter, Lavonda James of Edmond, OK; their mother, Nancy James of Morristown; stepson, Lee Winstead of Morristown; stepdaughter, Leslie Dyer of Mohawk; brothers, Ralph Ball of Newport, and Lloyd Ball of Charlotte, N.C.; sisters, Lorene Lethco of Charlotte, Earlene Norton of Morristown, and Audrey Jenkins of Russellville; several nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Allen Funeral Home Chapel with Ron Sills officiating. Interment will follow in Union Cemetery in Newport. The family received friends 6-8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Allen Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

JONES, MR. LEON WILSON, 82, of 1206 McDowell Drive died at 4:30 p.m. November 13,1998 at the Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital. Mr. Jones’ funeral will be held at Mt. Pisgah United Methodist Church 2:30 p.m. Sunday, November 15,1998. Burial will follow at Westminster Gardens. Leon Wilson Jones was born in Stokesdale on June 16, 1916 to the late Daniel Arthur Jones and Ida Young Jones. He has been a life long resident of Guilford County and was a long time member of Mt. Pisgah United Methodist Church, having served as teacher, and board member for many years. He was a life member of the North Carolina Congress of Parent and Teachers, a member, past president, and treasurer of the Guilford College Lions Club as well as a District Director of the Lions Club. He was a member of Buena Vista Lodge #21 Independent Order of Oddfellows. Mr. Jones was employed by Guilford Mills from its inception until his retirement in 1985. He was co-owner of Stokesdale Hardware for many years. He is survived by his wife, Phyllis A. Jones; daughters, Leonna Jones Prater of Morristown, Tennessee, Rebecca Jones Shaw of Asheboro and Margaret Ellen Jones Kiser of Concord, N.C.; brother, Eugene Worth Jones of Greensboro; sisters, Eleanor Cottrell of Greensboro, N.C., Treva Garrison of Reidsville, N.C. and Phyllis Warren of Stokesdale, N.C.; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was predeceased by his wife of 51 years, Iva Friddle Jones and four brothers. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Mt. Pisgah United Methodist Church Building Fund, 2600 Pisgah Church Road, Greensboro, N.C. 27455 or to a charity of the donor’s choice. Hanes-Lineberry North Elm Street Chapel, Greensboro, N.C. in charge of arrangements.

MALLETTE, MAXINE, age 50, of Morristown, passed away Thursday, November 12, 1998, at her residence, following a brief illness. She was employed with Colboch Harley Davidson. She was preceded in death by her father, Roy E. Greene and nephew, Mickey Greene. She is survived by her lifelong companion, Kenneth “Smokey” Colboch of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Susan and James “Gip” Gipson of Morristown; step-daughters, Debra Hoover and Diane Vaughn both of Morristown; grandchildren, John David and Alexandria Gipson, Jesse Parker and Kyle Vaughn, all of Morristown; mother, Imogene Greene of Rogersville; two brothers, Wayne and Elmer Greene, both of Rogersville. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, November 15, 1998, at Colboch-Price Chapel with Rev. Brad Gilbert officiating. Interment will follow in Hawkins County Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to F.A.M.E. (Flowers Around Morristown Enterprise) C/O K.A.B. (Keep American Beautiful) 814 W. Main Street, Morristown, TN. 37814. MCCAMPBELL, CARL (COTTON), 63, of Knoxville, formerly of New Market, passed away suddenly Thursday, Nov. 12, 1998. Funeral service 8 p.m. Sunday, Fielden Chapel with Revs. Charles and Emert Ogle officiating. Interment 11 a.m. Monday, Valley View Cem. TODD, DR. GARY PRICE, MD, 57, of 1223 Fox Run Rd., Waynesville, N.C. passed away Friday, November 13,1998 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Asheville, N.C. A native of Starr, S.C. he is the son of Louise Rainey Todd of Starr, S.C. He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph A. Todd Sr. and a brother, James M. Todd of Clarkesville, Ga. Dr. Todd graduated valedictorian from the Waynesville High School in 1959. He received his B.S. and B.A. degrees from the Carson-Newman College. He graduated from Bowman Gray School of Medicine, served his internship at the Portsmouth Naval Hospital, Portsmouth, Va. and his residency at the Bethesda Naval Hospital, Bethesda, MD. in ophthalmology. Dr. Todd worked with the International Eye Foundation in Ethiopia and as an eye surgeon in Japan for the Army, Air Force, Navy and all Embassy personnel for three years. He moved from Japan to Waynesville where he practiced ophthalmology and was a Scout Master in Waynesville for 10 years. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Clara W. Todd of the home; two sons, Frank Todd of Santa Barbara, CA. and George Todd of Orlando, Fla.; brother, Joe A. Todd of Charlotte, N.C.; and a sister, Mary E. Todd of Starr, S.C. Memorial services will be held 3:00 p.m., Sunday, November 15,1998 at the Long’s Chapel United Methodist Church, Lake Junaluska, N.C., where he was a member, with Rev. Rob Fuquay officiating. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to the Long’s Chapel Building Fund. Asheville Mortuary Services in charge of arrangements.

VANNOY, MRS. THELMA (MYRTLE), age 86 of Harrogate, wife of the late James Hubert Vannoy, passed away Nov. 12, 1998 at Claiborne County Hospital. Family received friends from 6:30 to 8:30 Sat. Coffey Funeral Home-Harrogate. Funeral services were 8:30 p.m. Sat. Coffey Funeral Home Chapel Harrogate. Lie in state 30 min. Graveside services 10 a.m. Sunday Greers Chapel Cemetery. Coffey Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
