EDMONDS, REV. JESSE E., age 73, went to be with the Lord on November 7, 1998, at Fort Sanders Park West Hospital. Funeral services will be Tuesday, November 10, 1998, 11:00 a.m. at Westside Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Frank Livesay and Rev. Dan Keller officiating. Interment to follow in the Witt Cemetery. The family received friends Monday from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Westside Chapel Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

JOHNSON, THELMA BLANTON, age 82, of Rogersville, passed away Nov. 9, 1998 at Morristown-Hamblen Healthcare System. She was a member of Maple Hill Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents Ballard and Rosa Blanton; brothers Claude, Joe, Axley, Bradley and Harrison Blanton; sisters Nellie Blanton, Nannie Johnson and Glessie Mullins; husband Rev. Charlie Johnson; daughters Donna Gale Vaughn, and Kathryn Argelene Odom; grandchildren Leonard Odom and Jason Vaughn. Survivors include son, Rev. James Johnson of Sykesville, Maryland; daughters Helen Kimbrough of Talbott and Dorotha Coffey of Rogersville; sixteen grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday at Broome Funeral Home with Rev. Glen Bradley officiating. Interment will follow in Dean Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the home of Mrs. Ted (Helen) Kimbrough in Talbott tonight. Family will receive friends Wednesday from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Broome Funeral Home in Rogersville. CONLEY, MARY S., of Morristown, passed away November 9, 1998 at Morristown-Hamblen Healthcare. She was a member of First Baptist Church and past worker of Children’s Sunday School Department. She was a member and past Matron of Hamblen Chapter No. 31 of Eastern Star; Silver Sister of Alpha Delta Kappa Sorority; a retired teacher, with 34 years of service with 16 years in Morristown. She received her B.S. Degree from Concord College and graduate school Marshall University, Master of Arts. Preceded in death by her parents, Robert Lee and Bessie H. Slavy; husband, Jess “Jack” Conley and brother, Harry W. Slavy. Survivors: nephew, Robert C. Slavy and Paula of Owego, N.Y.; great-nieces, Crystle, Courtney and Cara Slavy; host of friends. Funeral services will be 8 p.m.,. Wednesday at Mayes Mortuary with Rev. Danny Georges officiating. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Thursday in Hamblen Memory Gardens with Dr. William Palmer officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the mortuary. Mayes Mortuary in charge of arrangements.

BIBLE, ELIZABETH INEZ, 74, of McDonald Rd., died at her home with her loving family by her side on Tuesday morning, November 10, 1998, after a lengthy illness. She was an employee of Wal-Mart and a member of Beulah Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Bible; parents Robert McKee and Lilian Fisher; nephew Mark Fisher; grandson Matthew Knight; and sister, Rosa Lee White. Survivors include her daughter Barbara Jean Knight and a dear friend Lynn Campbell; son and daughter-in-law, Darrell and Myra Bible; brother, Edward Fisher and wife Marcella; sister Mary Morgan and husband Tom; brother-in-law and wife U.C. and Mary Lou Bible; brother-in-law, Boyd White; uncle Coy Maddox of Johnson City; grandchildren Lucas and Daniel Knight; and Mitchell Bible; great-granddaughter MaKayla Knight; nieces Tammy Morgan and Angela Sorell; nephews Billy Joe White, Jack and Charles Bible. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Beulah Baptist Church with Rev. Jimmy Turner officiating. Interment will be in Wisecarver Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6-9 p.m. Wednesday at Allen Funeral Home. Allen Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

MCDANIEL, DON, age 48, of Morristown, passed away October 19, 1998. Preceded in death by his mother, Lena Jones and father, George McDaniel. He will be sadly missed by his wife, Emma Riggs McDaniel; one daughter, Darlene McDaniel Notarin and son, Donald Mitchell McDaniel, of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; brothers, Russell and wife, Alice McDaniel of W. Va., Bobby and Terry McDaniel of Morristown; sisters, Penny McDaniel of Morristown and Teresa McDaniel Ciolfi of Ft. Lauderdale; step-daughter, Teresa Harmon and step-son, Gary Riggs, of Morristown; three grandchildren; one special step-granddaughter and one step-grandson; five nephews and three nieces. Funeral services were held at Westside Chapel Funeral Home.

PATTY, ARTHUR B. JR., (A.B.), age 72, of Morristown, passed away 10:35 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 4, 1998 at UT Medical Center in Knoxville. He was a member of Masonic Lodge 767 of Morristown; retired in 1988 with 39 years service with B.A.S.F. and was preceded in death by parents, Arthur B. Patty Sr., and Susan Gideon Patty; brothers, Mayford, Floyd, Claude, Paul and Sam; sisters, Mary Sue Lide, Edna Caylor, Ina Tittsworth, Ruby Padgette; daughter, Beverly Kelly of Morristown. Survivors: wife, Della Smith Patty; son, Arthur B. Patty III of Morristown; daughter, Donna Gail Reneau of Morristown; grandchildren, Karen Lawson, Chris Lawson, Margo Howard, Jason Kelley, Amanda Patty and Rachel Patty; two great-grandchildren, Kelsea Lawson and Jacob Howard, all of Morristown. Funeral services 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Stubblefield Funeral Home with Rev. Fred Lehrer officiating. Interment in Hamblen Memory Gardens. EALY, MRS. MARTHA PAULINE HANCE, of Newport, born May 3, 1906 in Cocke County, passed away November 4, 1998 at Mariner Health Care of Newport. She was a homemaker. The family will receive friends 6 until 8 p.m. Friday evening. Services will be 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 6 at Costner-Maloy Funeral Home. Interment 10 a.m. Saturday at Union Cemetery. STEWART, BROTEN JIM, of 110 Buford Street, Celina, Tennessee, was born September 27, 1934 in Sneedville, Hancock Co. Tenn., to Joe and Hannah Johnson Stewart. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Hannah Stewart; brothers, Claude and Albert Stewart. He passed away November 4, 1998 at his residence at the age of 64. He was a maintenance man for Chrysler Foundry for approximately 25 years. After he retired he moved to Celina, TN., where he did electrical and carpentry work. He was married to Pauline Arms who preceded him in death. Survivors: son, Howard Ray Dodson of Celina, Tennessee; daughters, Josephine Marlor of Indianapolis, Indiana, Lovie Taylor of New Palestine, Indiana; brother, Gale Stewart of Sneedville; sister, Viola Penington of North Carolina; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services 2 p.m. Sunday, November 8, 1998 at the Panther Creek Baptist Church. Rev. Lloyd Stewart officiating. Interment in the Trent Cemetery. LONG, MR. GEORGE FRANK, age 73, of Tazewell, TN., passed away October 31, 1998 at Claiborne County Hospital in Tazewell, TN. Family received friends 7-9 Monday at Coffey Funeral Home in Tazewell. Funeral services 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Coffey Funeral Home Chapel. The body will lie in state 30 minutes before services. Burial in the Bethel Cemetery. Coffey Funeral Home in charge.

ATKINS, GARY DENNIS, age 36, Knoxville, passed away Sunday, Nov. 1, 1998. Family will receive friends 6-9 p.m. Tuesday at Coffey Funeral Home, Tazewell. RICE, ESTHER H., age 77, of Bean Station, passed away October 31, 1998 at Heritage Center. She was a member of First Independent Freewill Baptist Church of Bean Station. Preceded in death by her son, Harvey Rader; husband, George Rader; sisters, Bertha Hazelwood, Vernie Clonce, Dora Pedigo, and Lora Reed; and brothers, Van Long, Lonus Long, Arnold Long, Homer Long and Booker Long. Survivors: husband, Cecil Rice of Bean Station; sons, Clister Rader of Morristown, Robert Rader of Morristown, Larry Rader of Indianapolis, Indiana; daughter, Barbara Charles of Stillwater, Oklahoma; brother, Frank Long; sisters, Della Purkey and Edna Bush, all of Bean Station; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson; several nieces and nephews. Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at First Independent Freewill Baptist Church in Bean Station, with Revs. Clifford Dalton and Ray Holt officiating. Interment will be in Dalton Cemetery. The body will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the services. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Mayes Mortuary. Mayes Mortuary in charge of arrangements.

WARD, MARTHA V., of Russellville, born February 26, 1919, in Claiborne County, passed away Saturday, October 31, 1998 at Lakeway Regional Hospital. Funeral services 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Stubblefield Funeral Home Chapel. Interment 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at McDaniel Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Stubblefield Funeral Home in Morristown. Stubblefield Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
