HOWELL, JAMES EDWARD, 60, of R#1 Rutledge passed away Saturday September 12, 1998 at his home. He was a member of Good Hope Baptist Church. Funeral arrangements will be announced by Fielden Funeral Home, New Market. Fielden Funeral Home, New Market in charge of arrangements.

JARNAGIN, CHARLES RILEY, age 67, long time resident of the Alpha Community, passed away Thursday, September 10, 1998, at Morristown-Hamblen Hospital. Funeral service will be Saturday, 8:00 p.m. at Westside Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. J.B. Gulley officiating. Graveside services will be Sunday, 2:00 p.m. at Pleasant View Cemetery. The family received friends Saturday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. prior to the service. Westside Chapel Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

JUSTUS, RUPERT HAMILTON, age 90, of Morristown, passed away Saturday, September 12, 1998, at Lakeway Regional Hospital. He was a retired farmer and member of Maple Grove Baptist Church, Del Rio, TN. Mr. Justus was preceded in death by his wife, Tessie L. Justus; brothers, Alf, Gray, Edgar and Robert Justus; sister, Mary J. Russell. Survivors include his step-daughters and sons-in-law, Kate and Ted Atchison of Bethesda, MD, Ruth and Avery Mayes of Morristown, Maie R. Stokley of Knoxville; step-sons and daughters-in-law, Joe E. and Charlotte Roberts, John and Ann Roberts of Morristown; grandchildren, Gayle Dawson of Knoxville, Sandra James of Atlanta, Joe Johns and Robyn Robinson of Morristown and Kathy Mayes of Knoxville; eight great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Frances Ervin and Ilalie J. Moore of Newport, Shirley Ponder of Milton, Fla.; a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be Monday, 11;00 a.m. at Westside Chapel Funeral Home with Dr. Richard Emmert officiating. Interment to follow in the Jefferson Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Sunday from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home. The family request in lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Maple Grove Baptist Church, Del Rio, TN. Westside Chapel Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

SMITH, HOWARD, age 79, of Tazewell passed away Saturday morning at V.A. Hospital in Johnson City. The family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. Sunday at Coffey Funeral Home in Tazewell. Graveside service 11 a.m. Monday at Cunningham Cemetery. Coffey Funeral Home in Tazewell in charge.

TRENT, ALONZO W. (LON), age 89, of Sneedville, passed away Thursday, September 10, 1998 at his home. Funeral services 2 p.m. Sunday, September 13, 1998 at the McNeil Funeral Home Chapel. Interment in the Byrd-Trent Cemetery. Family received friends Saturday from 7 to 9 at McNeil Funeral Home in Sneedville. McNeil Funeral Home, Sneedville in charge of arrangements. BUNCH, EDITH H., 84, of Morristown, passed away Thursday, June 17, 1999. The family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. Saturday at Stubblefield Funeral Home in Morristown. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday. Stubblefield Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

COX, CAROLYN RUTH ‘SHORTY’, age 46, of Morristown, passed away Tuesday, June 15, 1999 as the result of a car accident. Family will receive friends Friday, June 18, 1999 from 6-8 p.m. Services will follow at 8 p.m. with Rev. Don Johnson officiating. Burial will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Hamblen Memory Gardens. Westside Chapel Funeral Home, Morristown is in charge of arrange-ments.

CRITTENDEN, BERT CALVIN, 82, of Midway, passed away Thursday, June 17, 1999 at his home. He was a veteran of World War II and The Korean Conflict. He was the oldest member and a lifetime member of The VFW Post 9683. He was preceded in death by his wife Eva ‘Johnnie’ Crittenden; son, Perry Crittenden; parents, Noah and Sallie Crittenden; brothers, Estel and Hobert Crittenden; sisters, Louise Glascock, and Ada Livingston; and grandson, Jamie Jarnagin. Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Patsy and Carroll Trent of Morristown, Peggy and Hoss Brown of Bulls Gap, Pansy and Clifford Hannah of Jefferson City; daughters, Polly Hartman of Morristown and Penny Haun of Etowah; sons and daughters-in-law, Phil and Mitzi Crittenden of Bulls Gap, Porter and Gayla Ramsey Critteneden of Mohawk; 22 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchiildren; brother, Chuck Crittenden of Strawberry Plains; sisters, Margaret Bible of Jefferson City, Ida Wisecarver and Reba Nell Lowe, both of Midway; several nieces and nephews; special friend, Billy Minor. The family will receive friends Friday from 7-9 p.m. and Satur-day from 6-8 p.m., with funeral service to follow at 8 p.m. at Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Larry Miller officiating. Military graveside service will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Bible’s Chapel Church Cemetery, con-ducted by VFW Post 9683. Wilson Funeral Home, Bulls Gap, is in charge of arrange-ments.

DELEONARDO, JOHN L., age 77, of Morristown, passed away Thursday afternoon at Lakeway Regional Hospital. John was of the Catholic faith. He was a Navy Seabee and served in the South Pacific during World War II. He was a lifetime member of VFW Post 5266 of Morristown, a charter member of the Eagles and former owner of Leonardo Window Sales. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Maria DeLeonardo and sister, Fannie Seal. He is survived by his wife Bessie; daughter, Robin and son-in-law, Rex Epps of Morristown; son, John Jr.; grandchildren, Adam, Peter and Andrew Epps of Morristown and Johnathon DeLeonardo of Jefferson County; step-daughter and son-in-law, Susie and Gary Johnson and step-granddaughter, Lyndsey John-son; step-son and daughter-in-law, Johnny and Melinda Reynolds, all of Morristown; nephews and wives, Richard and Linda Seal, John and Lorin Seal and Dennis and Linda Seal of Ohio; many relatives and friends in Morristown. Services will be Saturday, June 19, 1999 at 8 p.m. at Westside Chapel Funeral Home with Revs. Doug Smith and Hubert Bunch officiating. Family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until time of service. Interment will be in Bethesda Cemetery Sunday at 2 p.m. with full military honors by VFW Post 5266 of Morristown. Westside Chapel Funeral Home, Morristown is in charge of arrange-ments.

HOWARD, GLADIS FOSTER, 84, of New Market, passed away Wednesday, June 16, 1999 at Life Care of Jefferson City. She was a member of Mill Springs Baptist Church. Survived by son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Barbara Howard of New Market; grandsons and wives, Zane and Christy Howard of Caryville and Todd and Shelia Howard of Knoxville; 3 great-grandchildren and several nieces. Funeral services 8:30 p.m. Friday at Fielden Chapel with Rev. Rusty Webster officiating. Interment 11 a.m. Saturday at Mills Springs Cemetery with Dr. William Johnson officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Mill Springs Baptist Church Building Fund. The family will receive friends Friday 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the funeral home. MAY, BLANCHE ROYSTON, age 65, of Morristown, passed away June 16, 1999 at Morristown-Hamblen Healthcare. She was a member of Swann Creek Church in Sneedville and attended Morristown Baptist Tabernacle. She was retired from NCR. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers. Survivors: husband, Bill May of Morristown; son and daughter-in-law, John and Heather Trent of Boston; daughters and sons-in-law, Sherry and Jimmy Adams and Jennie and Danny Burchfield, all of Morristown; grandchildren, James and Stacy Adams and Emily, Sarah, and Stephanie Trent; great-grandchild, Blake Adams; sister, Sallie Cloud of Morristown; uncle, Warren Reed of Sneedville; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Mayes Mortuary with Rev. Ralph Benfield officiating. Interment will be in Hamblen Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. Friday at the mortuary. Mayes Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

RIDLEY, MILDRED ‘MARCENIA’ WOLFE, age 60, of Bulls Gap, passed away suddenly on June 17, 1999 at U.T. Medical Center. She was a member of Big Hill Missionary Baptist Church. Preceded in death by daughter, Vickie Robin and father, andrew Clonce. Survivors: husband, Ralph Ridley of Bulls Gap; daughter and son-in-law, Gaylan and Lynn Collins of Bean Station; son and daughter-in-law, Ricky and Connie Wolfe of Bean Station; step-daughter and son, Debbie Ridley and Beau Ridley of White Pine; grandchildren, Eric and Tyler Collins and Richard Wolfe of Bean Station; step-grandchildren, Jesse Ledman, Mica Smith and Stephanie Dalton; step-great-granddaughter, Kaitlynn Dalton; mother and step-father, Virginia and Bill Wright of Rogersville; sisters and brothers-in-law, Betty and Rufus Coffey, Juanita and Bill Long and Mable and Ray Vaughn, all of Bean Station, Margie and Keith Dockery of Knoxville; several friends, nieces and nephews. Services will be 8 p.m. Saturday at Mayes Mortuary with Revs. Willard Wilder and Frank Spoone officiating. Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Sunday at Big Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Satuday at the mortuary. Mayes Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
