DALTON, BLANCHE, age 89, passed away Monday, March 22, 1999. Funeral services will be Wednesday, March 24, 1999, at 8:00 p.m. at Westside Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Dean Buell officiating. Graveside services will be Thursday, at 11:00 a.m. at the Highland Cemetery in Rogersville. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. prior to services. Westside Chapel Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

KEENER, CHARLES W., age 76, of Morristown, passed away March 23, 1999 at Morristown Hamblen
Healthcare. He was of the Methodist faith. He was an Army veteran of World War II; CBI Theater,; Tennessee Defense Force and a member of Merrill Marauders and V.F.W. Post No. 5266. Preceded in death by his parents, William Anthony and Elsie Maude Keener; sisters, Virginia Sinnetti; and Margaret Burdette and daughter, Frances Ann Hodge. Survivors: wife of 35 years, Elizabeth Keener of Morristown; daughters and sons-in-law, Dotty and David Martin of Silver City, NM., Brenda and Michael Estes of Ashland, Ky.; eight grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Hurt of Smith Grove, KY.; several nieces and nephews. Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Mayes Mortuary with Chaplain Jerry Emonds officiating. Military graveside services to follow in Hamblen Memory Gardens with V.F.W. Post No 5266. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the mortuary. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to one’s favorite charity. Mayes Mortuary is in charge of the arrangements.

MCGEE, WILLIAM DWIGHT, 902 Able Way, Dandridge, formerly of Sheffield, AL., born Nov. 23, 1958, passed away March 23, 1999 at Jefferson Memorial Hospital, Jefferson City, TN. He was a construction worker. Funeral services Thursday, 8:30 p.m. at Farrar Funeral Home Chapel (Dandridge.) Family will receive friends Thursday, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Farrar Funeral Home, Dandridge in charge.

BANNER, MRS. ALLIE MAE O’BRIEN, 222 Converse St. Morristown, passed away Thursday, March 4, 1999 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Atlanta, GA. She was 92. Preceded in death by husband, Martin Harmon Banner; sons, Homer, Harold and Martin Jr.; daughter, Kathleen Laws Fredda. Survivors include sons, Ardeal and Kenneth Banner of Morristown, Lemuel of Blairsville, GA.; daughters, Mrs. Lloyd (Dorothy) Stepp of Atlanta, Virginia Quarles of North Carolina, Mrs. John W. (Cena) McCaddon of Ada, OK.; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Memorial service will be Saturday, March 20, 1999 at 3 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, Reed Chapel Road, where she was a member for 42 years. Stetzer Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

BLAIR, MR. JAMES BURELL, age 84, of Tazewell, Tn., passed away March 13, 1999 at Claiborne County Hospital. The family received friends 6-7 Wednesday at Coffey Funeral Home in Tazewell, TN. Funeral service 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at Coffey Funeral Home Chapel. Burial 1:00 p.m. Thursday at Irish Memorial Gardens. Coffey Funeral Home in charge.

BUSH, IRENE, passed away Friday at Lakeway Regional Hospital. Arrangements to be announced later by Westside Chapel Funeral Home.

COLLINS, MRS. VIOLA, 86, of 313 Converse St., Morristown, born December 23, 1912, passed away March 15, 1999 at Morristown-Hamblen Hospital. She was preceded in death by her father, Julius Love; mother, Sarah Love; husband, Lee Mack Collins; children, Walter Leon Collins, Shirley Ann Blevins; brothers, Robert and Alonzo Love. She was a member of Rock of Ages Missionary Baptist Church and was retired. Survivors: son, John R. Collins (Lei Lani) of Asheville, N.C.; daughter, Melvina Wallace (Albert Lee) of Morristown; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sons-in-law, W.G. Blevins of Morristown, Robert Faye Gluck of Florida, Richard Lovi, Joel Gluck;; sisters, Zenia Poctor and Barbara Bragg (Kenneth) of Morristown; sisters-in-law, Henretta Fanney (Leonia Love of Cincinnati,Ohio); nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends; special friends, Kathryn Moore, Michael Villeday, Helen Collins and Ada Ruth Patterson. Funeral services will be Friday night 7 p.m. at Rock of Ages Baptist Church, with Rev. Lorrin Harris, sister Amie Treece, Rev. Albert Davis and Rev. Raymond Ewing officiating. Interment will be at 11 a.m. Saturday morning in City Cemetery. Family will receive friends Friday from 6-7 p.m. at Rock of Ages Baptist Church. Pallbearers will be grandsons and great-grandsons. Flowerbearers will be granddaughters and great-granddaughters. The family is being served by Dockery Funeral Home, Morristown.

COWAN, JAMES A., age 87, of 1704 Campbell St., Morristown, passed away Tuesday, March 16, 1999 at Lakeway Regional Hospital. Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday, March 20 at Dockery Funeral Home. Interment after the funeral in City Cemetery. The family will receive friends at noon March 20 at Dockery Funeral Home. Dockery Funeral Home in charge.

EVANS, CARSON, age 73, of Speedwell, was born Dec. 28, 1925, and passed away on March 16, 1999 at Middlesboro Appalachian Hospital. He was a member and deacon of Shady Grove Baptist Church. He belonged to the Senior Citizens Bowling Group of Harrogate. He loved to fish. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sie and Nancy Wilder Evans; 2 daughters, Linda and Dorothy; sister, Alda Wirek. Survived by wife, Lillie Mae Evans of Speedwell, TN.; sons, Carlos Evans of Hattisburg, Miss., Roger Dale Evans of Speedwell, TN.; daughters and sons-in-law, Mrs. Greg (Regina) Corum, Mrs. Donald (Angie) Standifer, all of Speedwell, TN; grandchildren, Mitchell Evans of Tazewell, TN., Cody Evans Corum of Speedwell, TN., Linda Sue Dunn of Cumberland Gap. TN., Kendall Evans of Middlesboro, KY.; great-grandson, Joseph Evans of Tazewell, TN.; brothers, Earl Evans and James Evans, both of Speedwell, TN.; sister, Mrs. Hester Russell of Cumberland Gap, TN.; and a host of other relatives and friends. FRANKENBERG, LOUIS E., 81, passed away Wednesday morning in Morristown-Hamblen Hospital. Funeral arrangements will be announced by Stetzer Funeral Home in Morristown.

HURST, ATHLYNE SPOONE, age 90, of Morristown, TN., passed away Tuesday, March 16, 1999. She was born July 31, 1908. She was the daughter of the late Dr. William R. and Anna Spoone and the wife of the late William A. Hurst. She was preceded in death by her brothers, W. Frank Spoone, Richard A. and Howard S. Spoone. She was a member of First United Methodist Church. Survivors: daughter and son-in-law, Charlotte and Robert Neblett of Morristown; son, William R.. Hurst of Alexandria, VA.; grandchildren, Nancy N. Seal of Morristown, William V. Neblett of Talbott; great-grandchildren, Jeremy and Joshua Seal, Jessica and Emily Neblett; great-great-grandchild, Telisa Seal; special friend and neighbor, Aileen Wice of Morristown. Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Mayes Mortuary with Revs. Doug Smith and T. Singleton officiating. Interment will be in Hamblen Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the mortuary. Mayes Mortuary is in charge of the arrangements.
