REECE, DENVER, age 79, of Tazewell, passed away Wednesday at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Knoxville. Services were held today at Coffey Funeral Home Chapel in Tazewell. Burial was in the Reece Cemetery. Coffey Funeral Home in Tazewell was in charge of arrangements.

THOMAS, JIMMY LEWIS, age 64, of Route 5, Rutledge, passed away at 5:20 p.m., Thursday afternoon, March 25, 1999, at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center in Knoxville following a courageous battle with cancer. He was of the Baptist faith and was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Vira Thomas and a sister, Mrs. Ima Justice. Survivors include his devoted wife, Mrs. Berniece Dalton Thomas of the home; son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Lisa Thomas of Rutledge; daughters and sons-in-law, Pam and Tim West of Rutledge and Paula and Chuck Cobb of Morristown; grandchildren, Chad, Laura, Preston, Anna Marie and Emily; mother-in-law, Mrs. Velva Dalton of Thorn Hill; sisters, Mrs. Kay Berry of Seymour and Mrs. Alma Matthews of Dandridge; brothers, Benny Thomas of Knoxville, Lowell Thomas of Seymour and Joe Thomas of Spokane, Washington, Kent Thomas of Massachusetts and Dale Thomas of Monroe, Louisiana; and several nieces and nephews. Graveside funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Sunday, March 28, 1999, from the Jefferson Memorial Gardens in Jefferson City with Rev. Rick Loy officiating. The family will receive friends 6-9 p.m., Saturday, March 27, 1999, at the funeral home. Arrangements by Farrar Funeral Home, 411 W. Broadway Boulevard, Jefferson City.

CAGLE, DOVIE EVOLYN KATE, 82, passed away Wednesday morning at the Lincoln Medical Center in Lincolnton, N.C. She was a member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Grassy Fork. Evolyn taught school in the Cocke County School System for 38 years before her retirement in 1975. She has taught in the Raven’s Branch Black’s , New Prospect, and Grassy Fork Schools. Survivors include her children, Calvin Cagle and his wife, Carolyn of Morristown, and Jean Dorsey of Crouse, N.C.; her sisters, Zanna Allen of Knoxville, Naomi Seay and Beatrice Freeman, both of Del Rio, and Doris Craddock Lynch of Knoxville; brothers, Benjamin Cates of Hartford and Earl Cates of Harrisonville, N.J.; grandchildren, Cheryl Ann Bridges of Knoxville, Deanna Smith and Charles Cagle, both of Morristown, Daresa Suddreth of Crouse, N.C., Lesa Perkins of Lincolnton, N.C., and Tamara Rozsa of Spartanburg, S.C.; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jess Cagle. Funeral arrangements will be announced later by Brown Funeral Home, Newport.

COSSON, JAMES L. “ZEKE,” beloved husband, father, and grandfather, age 74, of 1404 Darbee Drive, Morristown, died Wednesday, March 31, 1999, at Morristown-Hamblen Healthcare, following a 25 year battle with emphysema. He was a member of First Baptist Church and a veteran of the United States Army Reserve. He retired as Vice-President of Safety, following 29 years of service at Roy Widener Motor Lines, and for many years owned and operated Cosson’s Coin Laundries and the Northside Market. He attended the University of Tennessee as well as studied Horticulture at Walters State Community College, small engine repair at the Morristown Vocational Technical School and Aviation at the Morristown Airport, among a field of many other interests. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Sidney Cosson and Elizabeth Mae Smith of Morristown; and brothers, William Edward Cosson and David Frederick “Curly” Cosson. Survivors are his wife, of 50 years, Flora Sue Noe Cosson; daughter and sons-in-law, Patricia Lynn Henderson and Richard Michael Henderson Sr., of Jefferson City, and Susan Cosson of Morristown; grandchildren, Benjamin Ashley Hodges of New York City, and Richard Michael “Richie” Henderson Jr., of Knoxville; brother and sister-in-law, Ernest “Baldy” Cosson and wife, Janet of Oak Ridge; sisters and brothers-in-law, Mildred Cosson Dixon and husband Russell of Cocoa, F., Roberta Cosson Rogers and Betty Cosson Aikin and husband, Jim, all of Morristown; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Juanita Noe Inman, Betty Trent and husband, Jimmy ,Lynn, Barbara Martin and husband Walter, Ronald Noe and wife Linda, Eddie Noe and wife Sharon, all of Morristown, and Allen Noe and wife, Alice of Bybee. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. prior to the services , with Dr. Stan Cheney and Reverend Doug Clem officiating. Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Jarnagin Cemetery with Reverend Danny Georges officiating. Funeral arrangements are being made with Westside Chapel. Flowers and other expressions of sympathy are welcome, as are contributions to the American Lung Association. Westside Chapel Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

COX, DAVID LYNN, 46, of Whaley Rd., New Market, passed away Wednesday, March 31, 1999
at Ft. Sanders Regional Medical Center. He was a member of Mill Springs Baptist Church and New Market Lodge No. 246 F&AM and was employed by Dillard Smith Construction Company. Funeral service will be announced by Fielden Funeral Home, New Market

DAVIS, MR. CLYDE, age 77, of Harrogate, TN., passed away at Claiborne County Hospital Emergency. The family will receive friends 6-9 Thursday at Coffey Funeral Home in Tazewell. Funeral services 11:00 a.m. Friday at Coffey Funeral Home Chapel in Tazewell. Burial in the Harrogate Cemetery. Coffey, Tazewell, in charge of arrangements.

HAUN, DORIS M., 88, of Russellville, died Wednesday morning, March 31, 1999, at Lakeway Regional Hospital. She was preceded in death by her husband, Tom T. Haun, and sons, Richard, Thomas E., and J.T. Haun. Mrs. Haun was a native of Portage LaParair, Manitoba, Canada, and was a faithful member of Russellville Baptist Church for 43 years. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Maurice and Beverly Wheelock, DeForest, WI.; daughters and sons-in-law, Lois and Walt Bergman, and Pauline Miller, all of Cedar Rapids, IA., Judy and Lynn Morelock of Morristown, Elaine and Doyle Carpenter of Russellville, Mary and Doyle Officer of Morristown, and Margaret and Bob Wright of Mt. Juliet; daughter-in-law, Bonnie Haun of Jefferson City; grandchildren, Jeanette Wheelock, Terry and Bryan Coder, Tommy, Steven, Richie and Brandon Haun, Susanne Brannan, Larry Whitten, Paula Lemon, Jim Faaborg, Kristi Buchanan, Wendy and Chris Morelock, Greg and Tim Carpenter, Marty and Stacy Worthington, Nathan Officer, and Murline Price; special foster son, Worley “Red” Mathes; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Allen Funeral Home with Revs. Ernest Mullins and Walter Brookshire officiating. Interment will follow in Dover Cemetery. The family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Allen Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

LUNCE, MRS. ANNA KIMBROUGH, of Jefferson City, passd away at 2:05p.m. Wednesday afternoon, March 31, 1999, in the Morristown-Hamblen Healthcare Center. MURR, DONALD (RUSTY), age 65, of Morristown, passed away Tuesday morning, March 30, 1999, at Lakeway Regional Hospital, following a brief illness. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruby Murr and his second wife, Grace Murr; parents, Josie and Will Murr; infant daughter, Vickie Murr; one brother, and one sister..He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Donnie and Karen Murr of Rogersville; step-children, Jack Goodman, Richard Goodman, Phyllis Jones, Carolyn Kite, Teresa McCurry, Donnie Hill and Kay Spadafino; two brothers, Jim Murr of Mosheim and Carl Murr of Mohawk Cross Roads; three sisters, Carolyn Parker and Pauline Doud, both of Mohawk Cross Roads and Joann Gass of Greeneville; special recognition to a granddaughter, Tracie Trent; several grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 31, 1999, at Stubblefield Chapel with Rev. Richard Snowden officiating. Graveside services will be held 10:00 a.m. Thursday, April 1, 1999, at Hamblen Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6:00 -8:00 p.m. Wednesday prior to the services at Stubblefield Funeral Home in Morristown. Colboch-Price Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

NEWMAN, CECIL RAY, 67, of Knoxville, passed away Monday, March 29 at his home. He was the son of Mary and Edgar Newman. Mr. Newman is survived by Lola Long Newman; daughters and sons-in-law, Ann and Claris Reese Jr., of Talbott and Linda and Jimmy Hill of Whitesburg; two grandsons, Michael Reese and Justin Quinn; sister, Sue Bowman; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Graveside services will be conducted by the Rev. Elmer Beaver at 11 a.m. Thursday in Greenwood Cemetery, Tazewell Pike, Knoxville. The family will be at the home of Linda Hill, 1735 Needmore Rd., Whitesburg and will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Stetzer’s Whitesburg Chapel. Stetzer Funeral Home in charge.

PENCE, ESTILL LEE SR., age 48, of Morristown, passed away at Morristown-Hamblen Healthcare, March 31, 1999. He was a member of the Church of Christ; and Army veteran of Vietnam War and received a Purple Heart.He was a member of Masonic Lodge No. 929 in Vicco, KY. Preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Delphia Pence; grandson, Matthew Pence and sister, Aileen Pence Adams. Survivors: wife of 9 years, Nancy Pence; sons, Estill Lee Pence Jr., and wife, Brenda, Jonathan Pence and wife, Susie, Elmer Pence, Thomas Alexander and Daniel Alexander; several brothers and sisters; grandchildren, Nicole, Anthony and Noah Pence; special brothers and sisters-in-law and friends. Services will be 8 p.m. Thursday at Mayes Mortuary with Rev. Byron Chambers officiating. Masonic graveside services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Resthaven Cemetery in Perry County, KY., with Vicco Lodge No. 929. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m.Thursday at the mortuary. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Judes or Boy Scouts of America. Mayes Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

POUSH, GLADYS G., age 76, of Morristown, formerly of Kansas City, MO., passed away at her home March 29, 1999. Preceded in death by her husband, Willis Poush; parents, Mr. and Mrs. R.E. Curl; brother, Barney Fletcher and sister and brother-in-law, Zelpha Curl and Ernest. Survivors: sister, Frances Horner of Bean Station; several nieces and nephews, including Patricia Cannon and Eddie Curl; aunt, Lizzie Rich of Morristown. Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Sunderland Cemetery, with Rev. Dale Gray officiating. Mayes Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
