WOLFE, DANNY JACK, age 47, of Morristown, passed away Tuesday, March 9, 1999. at Ft. Sanders Hospital. He professed faith in Christ at an early age at Noeton Baptist Church. Survivors include 2 sons, Mike Wolfe, Dana Wolfe; daughter-in-law, Jeannie Wolfe; brother and sister-in-law, Jimmy and June Wolfe; sister and brother-in-law, Judy and David King; nephews, Jimmy Wolfe, Tracy and Terry King; niece, Tina Morton of Knoxville. Funeral services 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Stubblefield Funeral Home with Rev. Odell Davidson officiating. Family and friends will meet 11:00 a.m. Friday for interment at Hamblen Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Stubblefield Funeral Home in Morristown.

WOLFE, TONY R., 54, of Route 3, Bean Station, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 10, 1999, at his home. He was a faithful member of Morningside Baptist Church. Tony was preceded in death by his father, John S. Wolfe; mother, Beulah Russell Wolfe; stepmother, Cornie Russell Wolfe; and sister, Thelma Wolfe Lumpkins. Survivors include a son, Sgt, Anthony Wayne Wolfe of the U.S. Army; sister, Lura E. Solomon of Mooresburg; nephews, Tim Solomon ofGreeneville and Dale Solomon of Morristown; niece, Kimberly Costner of Russellville; great-nephews, Billy Jo Solomon and Kameron Solomon and great-niece, Kelsey Solomon; special friend, Lois Reneau. Funeral services will be announced later by Allen Funeral Home.

CHARLES, DONALD LEE SR., age 47, of 2204 Stanley Valley Rd., Surgoinsville, died Saturday morning at Hawkins County Memorial Hospital following an extended illness. He was a member of the Long Hollow Primitive Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in the Vietnam conflict. He was retired from Lear Sieglar in Morristown following 24 years service. He is preceded in death by his father, Lee Sidney Charles; grandparents, Emma and Edward Fields and Sindey and Bessie Charles. He is survived by 1 daughter, Sandra Charles Hornbeck of Rogersville; 1 son, Donnie Charles of the home; 2 grandsons, Chance Hornbeck and Christopher Charles; mother, Matilda Fields Charles of the home; 4 sisters, Mrs. Gary (Alice) Lane of Kingsport, Glenda Charles of Kingsport, Tammy Hickman of Rogersville, and Mrs. Jess (Tina) Conway of Newport; 4 brothers, Kenneth Charles of Rogersville, Dennis Charles and David Charles of Surgoinsville and Gerald Charles of Church Hill; special friend, ex-wife, and children’s mother, Rosie Frazier; dear friend, Evelyn Lindsey. Special thanks to a dear friend, Danny Alvis; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 8:00 p.m. Monday at the Colboch-Price Chapel with Rev. Harold Head and Rev. Gordon Justice officiating. Military graveside services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Tuesday by the Hawkins County Color Guard at the Lee Charles Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Monday prior to services at Colboch-Price Funeral Home in Rogersville. Colboch-Price Funeral Home in charge.

FAIRCHILD, MAUDE G., age 93, of Jefferson, City, Missouri, passed away Saturday, March 6, 1999 in Morristown. Services will be held in Jefferson City, Missouri at Buescher Memorial Funeral Home. Stubblefield Funeral Home in Morristown in charge of local arrangements.

HOLDWAY, MACK E., 83, passed away Saturday, March 6 at his residence. He was employed by American Enka for 30 years before retiring in 1981. Mack is survived by his wife of 64 years Ruby (Sawyer) Holdway of Bybee, TN.; one daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Charles Steele of Morristown, TN.; one grandson Paul Davis of Franklin, TN., and several nieces and nephews, and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Connie and Verna (Eldridge) Holdway; and one son, William E. Holdway. Mack was a Master Mason; a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason; A Noble of the Mystic Shrine and a member of Kerebela Temple. He was one of the original members which formed the Shrine Club of Cocke County in 1945 and served as a Past President. He was a member of Glendale United Methodist Church; a charter member of Centerview Ruritan Club. Mack retired from the Cocke County Board of Education in 1996 after 36 years and also served as chairman for many of those years. The family will receive friends 5-8:30 Monday. Masonic rites will be held 8:30-9:00 at the Brown Chapel. Funeral service will be held Tuesday at 2:00 at Glendale United Methodist Church with Rev. Roy Van Miller officiating. The body will lie in state from 1-2 p.m. prior to service. Interment in Glendale United Methodist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Glendale United Methodist Church or a charity of choice. Brown Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

MCMAHAN, ILIFF R., age 83, died Sunday, March 7, 1999 at Baptist Hospital of East Tennessee. He was a member of the First Baptist Church. He served in the Navy during World War II. He was the 1951 past President of the Kiwanis Club, a memeber of Amvets Post 75 American Legion. He was a member of the L/Cpl Charles Roberts DAV Chapter No, 102. He was a member of F&AM No, 234 and he attended the University of Tennessee. He was preceded in death by his brother, Everett Weaver McMahan and sister, Mary Margarete Seay. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth “Libbye” Norris McMahan of Newport; his son Iliff Richard McMahan Jr., and daughter-in-law, Marcie Wilds-McMahan of Parrottsville; his brother, J.M. McMahan of Newport; also several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at Manes Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. David Green and Dr. Castro Smith officiating. Burial will be in Union Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6-9 Tuesday evening and 1-2 p.m. Wednesday prior to service at Manes Funeral Home. Friends may call at their convenience after 10:00 a.m. Tuesday. Manes in charge.

MILLER, MR. JOHN RUSSELL SR., age 84, of Centre, AL., formerly of Huntsville, AL, passed away Saturday, March 6, 1999 at his residence after an extened illness. He was a native of Ducktown, TN. Retired U.S. Army Officer of Civil Service; a member of the Pine Grove Baptist Church. Preceded in death by his wife, Clara Miller; son of the late Urban Emmitt and Barshia Emily Laprade Miller. Survivors: son, John Russell (Debbie) Miller Jr., Huntsville, AL.; daughters, Sharon (Oneal) Maze, Centre, AL.; Karen (Joe) Opp, Norcross, GA.; 11 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren. Funeral services 7 p.m. Monday, March 8, 1999, at Jordan Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ricky Pollard and Rev. Arnold Oliver officiating. Entombment 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 10 at Valhalla Memory Gardens. Honorary pallbearers: Adult IV men’s sunday school class of Pine Grove. The body will remain at the funeral home until Tuesday morning at which time it will be transported to Valhalla Funeral Home in Huntsville. The family will receive friends Monday from 5:30 p.m. until time for the service. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6 until 8 p.m. at Valhalla Funeral Home in Huntsville, Ala. WILLIAMS, HELEN LOUISE, age 74, of 519 Sycamore Street, Morristown, passed away March 8, 1999. She was a member of Grace Baptist Church and a retired LPN from Morristown Hamblen Hospital. Preceded in death by her parents, Herbert and Lucy McManaway; brothers, H.B. and Walter McManaway. Survivors are husband, James E. Williams of Morristown; sons and daughters-in-law, Max and Janet Williams of Morristown, Jimmy and Jeanette Williams of Laurel, Miss.; sister, Mildred Marsee of Middlesboro, Ky.; grandchildren, Katie and Casey Williams of Morristown, Connie and Scott Mathney of Laurel, Miss., Danielle and Jimmy Baker of Walls, Miss.; great grandchildren, William and Bailee Mathney and Brett Baker; several nieces and nephews. Services will be 2 p.m., Wednesday at Mayes Mortuary with Rev. Stan Chaney officiating. Interment will be in Hamblen Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m., Tuesday at the mortuary. Mayes Mortuary in charge of arrangements.

LUENGEN, VERNA A., age 77, formerly of Wethersfield Rd., Warsaw, N.Y., died Friday, March 5, 1999 at Jefferson City, TN., Health and Rehab Center where she had resided the past few years. She was born December 19, 1921 in Wyoming a daughter of the late John and Mary E. King Strathearn. She was a member of the United Church of Warsaw; the Walker Klein Post American Legion Auxiliary, Warsaw; and was a former tax collector for the town of Wethersfield. Her husband William Luengen died September 9, 1988. She is survived by four sons, David (Susan) Luengen of Honolulu, Hawaii, Douglas Luengen of Buffalo, Dale (Laurie) Luengen of Morristown, TN., Daryl Luengen of Florida; two sisters, Lucille (Clayton) Carlson of Warsaw, Bernice Brayley of East Longmeadow, Mass.; two brothers, Edward (Sue) Strathearn of Wyoming, Albert (Betty) Strathearn of Wyoming two sisters-in-law, Eleanor Strathearn of Warsaw, Violet Strathearn of Perry; five grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of Harold Strathearn who died in 1967 and R. Leigh Strathearn who died in 1992. Friends may call Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Weeks Funeral Home, Inc., 123 N. Main St. Warsaw, N.Y., 14569 where funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Union Park Cemetery, Wethersfield Springs Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Day Center, 600 N. Daisy St., Morristown, TN. 37814. JONES, JESSIE MAURICE, age 79, of Morristown, passed away on Saturday, March 6, 1999 at Mountain Home Veterans Hospital. He was a member of Corner Stone Missionary Baptist Church and a World War II Army Veteran. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, sisters and wife; Ruth Jones. Survivors include: Wife of 18 years, Carrie Jones of Morristown;son and daughter-in-law, David M. and Dorothy Jones of Morristown;. daughter and son-in-law, Sharron and Jerry Testerman, Morristown; step-sons, Scotty Gulley of Greeneville,Jerry and Kenny Gulley, Morristown;.step-daughter, Rebecca Brice, Morristown. Grandchildren are , Jeff and wife (Tracy) Jones, Jennifer Hayes, Eddie Jones, Sammy Jones;step-grandchildren, Jason, Chris and Latasha Brice, Whitney Brittany and Nicholas Gulley; great-grandchildren: Corey and Amanda Jones;brother: Dan Jones of Morristown; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. on Monday, at Mayes Mortuary. The Rev. Jay Brady and Rev. Chris Davis will officiate. Military graveside services will be conducted on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. by V.F.W. Post #5266 in the Hamblen Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Monday at Mayes. ANDERSON, PAULINE JONES, age 94, of El Cajon, California, native of Morristown died Friday, March 5, 1999. Preceded in death by her husband, Theodore (Ted) Anderson. Survivors: son, Kenneth Anderson and wife, Gwendolyn of Redlands, CA,; sisters, Mrs. Hugh (Mildred) Painter of Morristown, Mrs. Albert (Mary) Milburn of Chattanooga, TN.; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews of this area. Family and friends will gather on Thursday, March 11 at 10 a.m. at Mayes Mortuary and proceed to Hamblen Memory Gardens for interment at 11 a.m. Mayes Mortuary in charge of arrangements.

BARKER, CALVIN L., age 74, of Morristown, passed away Sunday, March 7,1999 at Morristown-Hamblen Hospital. He was retired from the United States Air Force and Roadway Express and was a member of Buffalo Ridge Baptist Church, Gray, TN. He was preceded in death by his parents, Haskell and Julia Mayo Barker. Survivors include his wife, Rita Larkin Barker; son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Tina Barker of Honea Path, S.C.; daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Danny Buckles of Elizabethton, TN.; 8 grandchildren; brother, Robert T. Barker of Piney Flats, TN.; sister, Ruth Long of Kingsport, TN.; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Wednesday, March 10, 1999, 2:00 p.m. at Westside Chapel with Rev. J.B. Gulley officiating. Interment to follow in the Hamblen Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Westside Chapel Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
