SEBASTIAN, WILLIAM PATRICK, age 68, of Morristown, formerly of
Middleton, Ohio, passed away February 24, 1999 at Morristown- Hamblen
Hospital, following a courageous battle with cancer. He served in the
Korean War. He is preceded in death by his parents, Herbert Clarence
and Nellie Marie Sebastian of Ohio, brothers, infant Dale Sebastian and
Herbert Sebastian of Ohio. Survivors: wife; Charlotte Sebastian of
Morristown. Daughters and son-in-law; Cherylann and Mike Gilmore of
Ohio; Gayle and Darren Young of Morristown. Sons and daughters-in-law;
Patrick and Carol Sebastian of Ohio, Tracy and Jennifer Sebastian of
Morristown, Kelly and Kami Sebastian of Morristown and Chris and Dixie
Phillips of Alabama. Grandchildren are Kristan and Christopher Gilmore
of Ohio, Chelsea and Chase Young of Morristown. Brothers and
sister-in-law; Jerry and Shirley Sebastian, Paul and Teresa Sebastian of
Florida and Rev. David and Debbie Sebastian of Indiana. Sister-in-law;
Elaine Sebastian of Ohio. Sister and brother-in-law; Karen and Larry
Mitchell of Florida. Also, several nieces and nephews. Services will
be 2 P.M. Sunday at Mayes Mortuary with Rev. Jeffrey Harvel and Rev.
David Sebastian officiating. Interment will follow in Hamblen Memory
Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 P.M. Saturday at
the mortuary. Mayes Mortuary in charge of arrangements.

WILLIAMS, LAURA C., passed away home February 23, 1999. Laura was born
in Charleston, S.C. on May 17,1914 she lived most of her life in
Wilmington, N.C. until moving to Sneedville. She lived with her
daughters Dale Kyber and Sandra Ballard. She has been a member of the
Seventh Day Adventist church since 1938. She was preceded in death by
her husband, Wilbur A. Williams, brother, Seldon Wilson Combs, mother,
Essie W. Pettaway, father, Louis S. Combs. She is survived by her
daughters, Dale and Sandra and son-in-law; Francis Ballard of
Sneedville. Grandchildren are; John W. Thompson of Collegedale, Tenn.
Cheryl Smith of Annapolis, Md. Dawn Bridges of Greeneville, Tn. Stanley
Ray Allen of Maryville, Tn. G.R. (Randy) Ennis of Collegedale, Tn. and
thirteen grandchildren. Sisters; Mary Combs Williamson of Sneedville,
Mazie Combs Peterson of Willetts, Ca. Flossie Mae Combs Flournoy of
Raleigh, N.C. Also, numerous nieces and nephews. The family will
receive friends at home, Rt. 2 Box 337 (Hwy. 66) in Sneedville, Saturday
February 27, 1999 from 4 P.M. to 7 P.M. a memorial service will be held
at the Rogersville Seventh Day Adventist Church 712, Caney Creek Road on
Saturday, March 6 at 5 p.m. McNeil Funeral Home of Sneedville in charge
of arrangements.

WILLIAMS, PAUL E., age 74 , of Bean Station passed away Friday,
February 26, 1999 at his home. He was of the Baptist faith. Survivors
include his wife of 49 years Mary Ellen (Miller) Williams. Sons and
daughters-in-law; Eddie and Arlene Williams of Morristown, Ricky and
Terry Williams of Bean Station, and Marvin Williams of Bean Station.
Daughter and sons-in-law; Rosemary and Junior Carroll of Bean Station.
Brother and sister-in-law; Jimmy and Maxine Williams of Rutledge.
Sister & brother-in-law: Katherine and CJ Morgandale of Memphis. Seven
grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be
at 2:00 P.M. Monday at Mary’s Chapel Church with Pastor Caroline
Goddard, Rev. J.C. Morgan and Rev. Cecil Harville officiating. Interment
in Mary’s Chapel Cemetary. The family will receive friends 7-9 p.m.
Sunday at Stubblefield Funeral Home in Morristown. Stubblefield Funeral
Home in charge of arrangements.

BROOKS, REV. COLBY, age 55, Cedar Fork Rd, Tazewell, passed away
Thursday at his home. The family received friends 7-9 p.m. Friday and
Saturday at Coffey Funeral Home Tazewell. Funeral service 3:00 p.m.
Sunday at Coffey Funeral Home Chapel, Tazew-ell. Burial in the Irish
Memorial Gardens with military honors by the Claiborne County Memorial
Honor Guard. Coffey Funeral Home Tazewell in charge of arrangements.

BUSSELL, MRS. MARY ALBERTA, age 73, of Harrogate, Tenn., passed away
Friday morning at Baptist Hospital in Knoxville. The family received
friends 7-9 p.m. Saturday and also will receive friends 7-9 p.m. on
Sunday at Coffey Funeral Home in Harrogate. Funeral service 2:00 p.m.
Monday at Little Creek Missionary Baptist Church. Burial in the
Hazelwood Cemetery. Coffey Funeral Home, Harrogate, in charge of
arrangements.

CANTWELL, BILLY LEE (BILL), age 73, of Grainger County, entered into
eternal rest February 6, 1999, at his farm surrounded by his loving
family. Bill was born to the late Jack Elisah and Estelle Cantwell on
January 16, 1926, and preceded in peace by his brothers Clarence and
Dale. He was a loving husband, father, grandfa-ther, great-grandfather
and friend to all those who knew him and will miss him greatly. Bill
shared the fellowship of God at New Prospect and Narrow Val-ley Baptist
Churches and served as an ordained Deacon from 1951. He also served as
Choir Leader for Narrow Valley Baptist Church. Bill retired from the
Tennessee Department of Agriculture, and continued to work the land as a
respected farmer in Grainger County. Bill also served as Commander of
American Legion Post #119. He is survived by his wife Frances; his
sisters, Aileen Kidwell of Rutledge, and Ruth Roberts of Bean Station;
his brother, Jack Cantwell of Rutledge; three daughters, Judy Kennedy of
Morristown, Billie Cantwell and Kathy Blackwelder, both of Knoxville;
and a host of nieces and nephews. He was also loved dearly by his
grandchil-dren, Jason Davis, Alex and Madison Blackwelder as well as his
great-grandchildren Blake and Brandon Davis. The family will receive
friends at Smith’s Funeral Home from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 7,
1999. A memorial service will follow, officiated by Rev. Jack Hipshire
and Rev. Gary Marshall. Inter-ment will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday at
Jarnigan Cemetery in Morristown. The family re-quests that in lieu of
flowers, a donation be made in Bill’s name to the Narrow Valley Baptist
Church Building Fund or the American Lung Association. Arrangements made
by Smith Funeral Home in Rutledge.

COUCH, REV. JAMES DELMER, age 77, of Bean Station, died Thursday, Feb.
4, 1999, at his home. He was a minister in the Church of God for 52
years and a veteran of WW II. Family and friends will meet 10:30 a.m.
Sunday at Bean Station Baptist Church Cemetery for interment with
military honors by V.F.W. Post 5266. The Mooresburg Chapel of
Stubblefield Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

KING, CHARLES D. “CHARLIE,” 516 Cline Road, Dandridge, TN., born Feb. 4,
1936 in Suffolk, Va., died Feb-ruary 5, 1999 at his home. He was a
shipfitter from Newport News Ship Building Co. Funeral arrangements are
incomplete and will be announced later by Farrar Funeral Home,
Dandridge.

ODOM, DONALD EUGENE, age 67, of Morristown, passed away February 4,
1999, at Jef-ferson Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be Monday,
February 8, 1999 at Bradford Funeral Home in Summersville, MO. Mayes
Mortuary in charge of local arrangements.

TAYLOR, MRS. BERNICE T., retired Hamblen Co. school teacher, died
Friday, Feb. 5, 1999. Mrs. Taylor taught for over 40 years in the
primary grades at Miller W. Boyd School, Russellville Elementary, and
Union Heights School. She taught in the first Summer Head Start Programs
in the 60’s. Mrs. Taylor was very active in the community and Bethel
United Methodist Church, founded by her father, the Rev. D.T. Turner.
Among some of her community affiliations were Delta Sigma Theta
Sorority, Progressive Business Association, Northside Garden Club,
Central Services Volunteer, United Methodist Women, Church Historian and
Steward. Mrs. Taylor was a graduate of Morristown College and Tennessee
State Univer-sity. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. William
R. Taylor; parents, Rev. and Mrs. D.T. Turner. She also was pre-ceded in
death by her brother, Mr. Dallas Turner and 10 sisters, Mrs. Naomi
Middleton, Mrs. Dora Hailey, Mrs. Virginia Johnson, Mrs. Estalene Hull,
Mrs. Anna Devoe, Mrs. Lillian Foust, Ms. Clemma Turner, Mrs. Louella
Richardson, Miss Mildred Turner, and Miss Mar-garet Turner. She was also
preceded in death by nephews, Mr. William Whiteside, Mr. Leon Hull, Mr.
John D. Hull and nieces Ms. Marylene Hull and Mrs. Mary Crenshaw.
Survivors include nephews Mr. Samuel Richardson of Morristown, Wil-liam
Richardson, Petersburg, Va., James Richardson, Chicago, Ill., Judson
Whiteside, Huntington, N.Y.; and nieces, Mrs. Anna Mae Martin, Staten
Island, N.Y., Mrs. Martha Young, Knoxville, TN., Mrs. Lillian Holland
and Rev. Saundra Richardson, Detroit, MI., Mrs. Lorita Brown, and
Janice Turner, N.Y., Mrs. Dallas Jack-son, South Orange, N.J., Ms.
Lottye Whiteside, San Gabriel, CA.; sister-in-law, Mrs. Betty Turner,
Bronx, N.Y.; nieces-in-law, Mrs. Lucille Whiteside, Morristown, Mrs.
Viola White-side, Huntington, N.Y.; and a host of other great and grand
nieces and nephews and their families including Brenda Whiteside,
Morristown, Jerry Whiteside, Chattanooga, Wil-liam Whiteside, Detroit,
Frances Jackson, Knoxville, Gad Holland and Denise Reed, Detroit, and
Gwendolyn Fiex, Chicago, Ill. Mrs. Taylor is also survived by a host of
friends and neighbors who saw to her care. Services will be Tuesday,
Feb. 9, 1999, at the Bethel United Methodist Church, 12 noon. The Rev.
Edward Cunningham, officiating. The family will receive friends from
11:00 to 12:00 noon prior to the service. Interment will be in Hamblen
Memory Gardens. Westside Chapel Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

THOMAS, GLENN PRESTON, age 85, of Lynchburg, Virginia, formerly of Knox
County, Tennessee, passed away at 4:30 a.m. Friday, February 5, 1999,
at Carrington Nursing Home in Virginia follow-ing an extended illness.
He was a member of the Marbledale Baptist Church in Knoxville and was a
retired truck driver with 20 years of service. Mr. Thomas was preceded
in death by his parents, Otha and Annie Tho-mas; a sister, Mary Sue
Tho-mas Mowery; and two brothers, Herbert and Lloyd Thomas. Survivors
include his wife, Bes-sie Soloman Thomas of Virginia; sons, Clark M.
Thomas of Port Deposit, Maryland and Robert C. Thomas of Rustburg,
Virginia; granddaughter, M. Anne Thomas Doyle of Boulder, Colorado;
grandson, R.O. Bickington Thomas of Richmond, Virginia; sisters, Maude
T. Smith of Seymour, Pauline Branch of Knoxville, Edith Hancock of
Strawberry Plains, Eve-lyn Branson of Strawberry Plains, Margaret Ann
Bennett of Knoxville, and Ruby Lane of Powell; sister-in-laws, Sharlene
Thomas of North Carolina and Elizabeth Thomas of Knoxville; brothers,
George Thomas of Arizona, Frank Thomas of Strawberry Plains, and Charles
Thomas of Jefferson City; brother-in-law, Bill Mowery of Knoxville; and
several nieces and nephews. Graveside funeral services will be held at
2:00 p.m. Sunday, February 7, 1999, in the Asbury Cemetery with Reverend
Alfred Smith officiating. The family received friends from 6:00-8:00
p.m. Saturday evening, February 6, 1999 at the funeral home.

TOEPFER, EVELYN E., 60, of Ontonagon, MI. and Jefferson City, Tenn.,
died Thursday, February 4, 1999 in St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center
following a brief illness. She was born September 14, 1938, the daughter
of the late Marvin E. and Edna A. (Moose) Urmy, on the family farm in
Coopersburg, PA. She married Walter J. Toepfer July 2, 1966 in
Quaker-town, PA. Many years ago she was employed as a secretary with The
New Jersey Zinc Co. at its Friendsville Mine, Center Valley, PA. where
she met her husband. In later years she was a devoted wife and mother
who enjoyed homemaking for her family. Surviving in addition to her
husband are son, Glen W. Toepfer of Toledo; brothers, Ralph (Jean) and
William Urmy of Coopersburg, PA; and mother-in-law, Carol Toepfer;
sister in law, Margaret Gill; and brother in law, Charles (Linda)
Toepfer, all of Toledo. Numer-ous nieces and nephews also survive.
Friends may call at the Foth-Dorfmeyer Mortuary, 3815 Sylvania Ave.
(between Monroe St. and Talmadge Rd.) Sunday from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. where
funeral services will be held Monday at 1:30 p.m. Interment will be in
Ottawa Hills Memorial Park in Toledo. Foth-Dorfmeyer Mortuary in charge
of arrangements.
