POOLE, Jean Holt (Gran-Gran)
POOLE, Jean Holt (Gran-Gran), age 82, of Knoxville died Friday, May 28, 2004. She was a member of Laurel Church of Christ, the Knoxville Rose Society, and West Hills Flora. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bruce Poole. Poole is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Susan and Eddy McAlister of Charlotte, N.C., Janie and Sam Kincaid of Cookeville, Melinda and Joe Connell of Knoxville; grandchildren, Stacy McDonald and husband, Brian, Tami Prichett, Becky McAlister, Rachel Kincaid, Molly Kincaid, Hannah Kincaid, Ashley White and husband, Brad, Allison Connell and Katie Connell; eight great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law, J.B. Holt, Don and Sara Holt, Fred and Amy Holt; sisters and brothers-in-law, Morine Peck. The family would like to offer special thanks to Sara Fain for her loving care. A funeral service was held Sunday, May 30, at Rose Mortuary Mann Heritage Chapel. Family and friends met at Highland Memorial Cemetery Monday, May 31, for an interment service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Christian Student Center, Laurel Church of Christ, 3457 Kingston Pike, Knoxville, TN 37919. The family received friends Sunday, May 30, at Rose Mortuary Mann Heritage Chapel.

McCOIN, B.H. Jr. (Mac)
McCOIN, B.H. Jr. (Mac), age 76, of Knoxville died Wednesday, May 26, 2004, at his home. He was born in Maryville and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He attended the University of Tennessee, University of Minnesota and graduated from the University of Southern California with a liberal arts degree. He was an electrical equipment manufacturer’s representative. He was a member of Sigma Chi fraternity, Cherokee Country Club, an avid golfer and an accomplished bridge player, attaining the rank of life master. He spent much of his last few years after retirement writing fiction and nonfiction. He was proceeded in death by his parents, Julia McKinney Ford and B.H. McCoin Sr. He is survived by friend and companion for 14 years Lucy Dover (Mrs. Ed); son, Mark Hamilton McCoin, Denver, Colo.; daughter, Dr. Cameron Elinor McCoin; and grandson, Dillon Banker, Ashland, Ore.; half-sisters, Anne McCoin Calloway (Mrs. Frank) of Knoxville; Karen McCoin Ramsden (Mrs. Richard) of Marietta, Ga.; cousin, James G. McCoin, Knoxville; and several nieces. Special thanks to caregiver Carole Myers, RN, and hospice nurse Camilla Freytag. Family and friends met at Tennessee Veterans Cemetery Friday for a graveside service with Dr. William R. Barron officiating. The family asks that memorials be made to Covenant Hospice, 900 Executive Dr., Suite A-110, Knoxville, TN 37923. The family received friends Thursday at Rose Mortuary Mann Heritage Chapel.

CATHEY, Betty Carolyn Tillery
CATHEY, Betty Carolyn Tillery, age 71, of Knoxville, went to be with the Lord, Tuesday, May 25, 2004. She was a member of First Baptist Church Concord and an active member of the Faithful Followers Sunday School class. Prior to retiring in 1983, she was a school teacher in the city school system for more than 27 years having taught at Moses, Claxton and West Hills. Cathey enjoyed reading, UT sports, the Braves and camping. She, along with her husband, Bill Cathey, were founders of Knoxville Travel Trailers Inc., where she served as secretary. Proceeded in death by her mother and father, Naomi and P.E. Tillery; sisters, Nel Tillery and Ruth Rodgers. She is survived by devoted husband and best friend of 48 years, Bill Cathey; daughters, Pattie Davis and Karen Cathey; grandsons, Steven and Chad Davis, all of Knoxville; sisters, Rosemary Wooten of Knoxville and Helen Brown of Jonesborough; also several nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend a special thank you to friend and physician, Dr. Shannon Byrd, also, Wendy Mason, Dr. Lisa Lancaster of Vanderbilt University Hospital and all the nursing staff at Fort Sanders Parkwest Medical Center, especially Sean, Richard, Phebe, Andrea, Brenda, Jonnita and Robbin who helped the family deal with losing her. A celebration of life service was held Thursday, May 27, at First Baptist Church, Concord Chapel with the Rev. Steve Peek and the Rev. Tim Hopkins officiating. Family and friends met at Rose Mortuary Mann Heritage Chapel Friday, May 28, and proceeded to Highland Memorial Cemetery for an interment service. Pallbearers were Steven Davis, Joe Cathey, Randall Crumbley, Jimmy Johnson, Rich Cathey and Gary Daniels. Honorary Pallbearers were the men of the Faithful Followers Sunday School class. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the Coalition for Pulmonary Fibrosis, 1685 Branham Lane, Suite 227, San Jose, CA, 95118; American Diabetes Association, 900 E. Hill Ave., Knoxville, TN 37915; or the American Kidney Foundation, 7315 Wisconsin Ave., Bethesda, MD 20814. Family received friends Thursday at First Baptist Church, Concord Chapel. Arrangements made by Rose Mortuary Mann Heritage Chapel.

BORING, Juanita Lindsay
BORING, Juanita Lindsay, age 81, formerly of Concord, died Wednesday, May 26, 2004, at Wesley Commons, Greenwood, S.C. She was a member of Concord Presbyterian Church and a retired teacher at Knoxville Business College. She was the widow of John Ross Boring and the daughter of the late Fred C. and Hattie Bowers Lindsay being born in Greeneville. Boring is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Lindsay and Kay Kirkman Boring of Albany, Ga., Toby and Karen Collins Boring of Greenwood, S.C.; grandchildren, Jennifer and Wade of Greenwood, S.C.; sister and brother-in-law, Mary Nelle and Warren Dannenburg Sr. of Richmond, Va.; sisters-in-law, Thelma B. Johnson and Judy B. Solomon of Concord. Family and friends met at Concord Masonic Cemetery Saturday for a graveside service with the Rev. Kelly Negus officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Concord Presbyterian Church, 11000 Second Dr., Concord, TN 37922, or Hospice Care of the Piedmont, 408 W. Alexander Ave., Greenwood, SC 29646. The family received friends Friday at Rose Mortuary Mann Heritage Chapel.

AMBROSINA, Pete
AMBROSINA, Pete, age 34, of Knoxville, formerly of St. Maarten, passed away tragically Thursday, May 27, 2004, in an automobile accident. Ambrosina was a comptroller with the State of Tennessee and also coached Thunder Baseball for 13-year-olds. He was a former professional baseball player with the St. Louis Cardinals. Left to mourn: his mother, Violet Ambrosina; sister, Julia Ambrosina; brothers, Wilbert and Wilfred Ambrosina; grandfather, Peter Brown, all of St. Maarten. The family received friends Tuesday, June 1, at the Click Funeral Home Farragut Chapel. Funeral services and interment will be in St. Maarten. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Thunder Baseball 13 and U, c/o Jeff Potter, 1920 Tall Cedars Road, Knoxville, TN 37922. YOUNG, Stoney G. (GENE)
born Oct. 11, 1940, died July 22, 2004. Retired from Johnson & Galyon Construction Company, he is preceded in death by his father, John H. Young. Survivors include his mother, Gertrude Young of Crossville; wife of 44 years, Ruby West Young; three children, Clyde and Steven Young and Jo Ann Moneymaker, all of Knoxville; sister and brother in law, Elizabeth (Liz) and Bill Bell of Decatur, Ga.; half-brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Carole Ramsburg of Crossville; grandchildren, Tiffany Young, Morgan and Shelby Baker, all of Knoxville; and many other friends and relatives who will miss him very much. He was saved and a member of Ball Road Independent Missionary Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Ball Road Baptist Church Building Fund, 6323 Ball Road, Knoxville, TN 37931. The family would like to express their thanks to the doctors, nurses and other staff of NHC-Knoxville Nursing Home, St. Mary’s Medical Center and Adventa Hospice and their many friends and loved ones who offered words of encouragement and prayers throughout Stoney’s illness. TUCKER, Donald Miller
age 81, of Knoxville, died Sunday, July 25, 2004, following a sudden onset of pneumonia. Tucker worked his long career with his brother, Thomas M. Tucker, and father, R.S. Tucker, who founded Power Equipment Company. He succeeded his father as president and chairman of the board. Tucker attended St. Andrews School of Middletown, Del., and served in the U.S. Army. He attended the University of Tennessee, where he was an active member of SAE Fraternity and graduated with a degree in civil engineering. He was a member of Cedar Springs Presbyterian Church and was active in civil organizations including the United Way, YMCA and the Salvation Army, including serving on many of their boards. He was an enthusiastic sports fan and UT supporter, and for many years an avid jogger, hiker and gardener. He was preceded in death by his son, Ray H. Tucker; parents, R.S. Tucker and Blanche McMahon Tucker; and brother, Thomas McMahon Tucker Sr. He is survived by his wife, Jo-Anne Kuhlo Tucker; children, Mark H. Tucker of Kingsport, Janie Tucker Gibbs of Bradenton, Fla., Julianne Tucker Hartman of Davidson, N.C., Donald Tucker of Cambridge, Mass, Joan Tucker Fife of Orinda, Calif., and Sheila Tucker Reno of Maryville; niece, the Rev. Louisa Tucker Parsons of Signal Mountain; nephew, Thomas M. Tucker Jr. of Knoxville; 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. The family received friends Wednesday followed by a service at Cedar Springs Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Louisa Tucker Parsons and the Rev. Roy Zinn officiating. Interment was private. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Salvation Army, 409 N. Broadway, Knoxville, TN 37917, or Cedar Springs Presbyterian Church, 9132 Kingston Pike, Knoxville, TN 37923.
