Virginia Rose Brown Copenhaver Miller of Lenoir City, passed away Thursday, Mary 11, 2006 at her home. She was a member of Oral Baptist Church. Rose retired from the University of Tennessee. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and a longtime volunteer with the Salvation Army. Preceded in death by her husbands, Paul Copenhaver and Jim Miller; parents, Jesse and Maude Brown; sister Frances Scavarda; brothers, Jesse Brown, Jr., Ernest Leon Brown and Gene O. Brown. Survived by brothers, Alfred Brown and wife, Frances of Kingston and Shelby Brown of Lenoir City; sister, Ruth Meyers of Middlesboro, KY several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the Click-Hawkins Chapel, 102 B Street, Lenoir City. Funeral services will follow at 2:30 p.m. Sunday with Rev. Thom Tapp officiating. Interment will follow in the Loudon Co. Memorial Gardens.

Williams, Johnny (Alb), age 84, of Sevierville passed away Sunday, May 14, 2006. He was of the Baptist faith. Owner of Williams Coal and Trucking Co. Alb was a veteran of W. W. II serving in the U. S. Army. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruby Wright Williams; parents, Walter and Grace Williams; brothers: infant twin brother, James Alfred Williams, infant, Curtis Williams, Lonnie Ray Williams and Walter Williams, Jr.; sisters, Ruth Goins, Della Monson and Louise Franklin. Survived by wife, Vondia L. Williams; children, Charles(Chuck) Williams, Bill Williams and wife, Sue, daughter, Kelly Rathbone; grandchildren, John and Susan, Jason Derrick Holden, Jr.; 5 great grandchildren; brother, Gilbert Williams and wife, Betty of Lenoir City; sisters, Betty Kagley of Lenoir City, Edna Allison of Knoxville and Bonnie Hibbert of White Pine; a host of nieces and nephews. William Ray (Bill) Allison, age 53, of Philadelphia, passed away suddenly Saturday, May 13, 2006. Bill was former owner of A1 Services and currently operated The Little Flea Market in Sweetwater. Bill loved horses and was very active in the Walking Horse Association. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Judy Everett Allison; sons, James Christopher Gatlin and wife, Carrie of Lenoir City, Joshua Allison of Loudon; daughter, Angie Allison of Lenoir City; grandchildren, Colby and Jada Allison; parents, Curtis and Virginia Allison of Lenoir City; several aunts, uncles and cousins. Barbara Louise Cooper, age 71, of Knoxville, passed away Thursday morning, May 18, 2006, at her home. She was a member of Fountain City First Baptist Church. Preceded in death by husband, Jack L. Cooper; grandson, Travis Edward Harn; sisters, Christine Wright and Juanita Lanham. Survived by daughter, Vicky Cooper of Knoxville; granddaughter, Michele Dudley and husband, Cris of Knoxville. Survived by her husband of 64 years, Elmo Martin; children: Sharon Jean Palmer and significant other, Armand Tessier of Knoxville, Linda Sue Ortiz of Lenoir City, Richard Allen Martin and wife, Kathleen of Kingsport, TN; 5 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Robert (Jr.) and Cloe Thomas; aunts and uncles, John and Carolyn Perkins, Dorothy Sartin, Charlie and Linda Thomas, Earnie and Mary Lou White, James and Irene Johnson; cousins, Deanna Perkins, Crystal Perkins, Shannon Thomas, Keith White, Shane White, Dewayne Johnson, April Sartin and Jason Sartin. Brummitt, Esta Mae, age 82, of Lenoir City, passed away Wednesday, May 24, 2006 at her home. She was of the Baptist faith. Esta retired from Scovill. Preceded in death by husband, Leon Brummitt; parents, W. H. and Ella Tinnell; son, George W. Brummitt; brothers, Richard Tinell and Jess Tinell and sister, Mary Roberts. Survived by children, Virginia Hattley, Charlotte Arden, Gail Burnette all of Lenoir City and John Roberts of Madisonville; 17 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; brother, Charles Tinell of Richmond, IN; sister, Sidney Reinhart of Las Vegas, NV; several nieces and nephews; many special friends and neighbors. Brown, Richard Wayne, age 67, of the Tellico Village Community, Loudon, passed away Tuesday, May 23, 2006 at U. T. Medical Center. He was a member of Tellico Village Community Church and Tellico Lake Rotary Club. Richard was president of T. R. W. A. and MO. AG. He was a founding partner of Basic Resources, Inc. He served in the Air National Guard where he received the Airman’s Medal. Richard was an avid golfer. Preceded in death by parents, Noah and Mae Brown; sisters, Katherine, Dorothy and Mary; brother, Ivan and son, Scott Charles Brown. Survived by his wife of 42 years, E. Sue Brown; children, Michael Wayne Brown of Nashville, Kari LaVon Brown of Knoxville; granddaughter, Madison Elizabeth Brown of Texas; brother, Lynn (Susan) Brown of St. Louis, Missouri; brother-in-law, Charles (Penny) Shoop of California; nieces, Christie Sanders, Jennifer Farrar and Beth McDonald; nephew, Ross Shoop. Rev. James A. Keener, age 72, of Jacksonville, N.C. formerly of Lenoir City, passed away Tuesday, May 23, 2006. He was preceded in death by daughter, Donna K. Keener; parents, James F. Keener and Mary L. Keener. Survived by son, James F. Keener; daughter, Mary Jo Keener Hudson; sisters, Katherine Keener Wilkerson and Phebe Keener; brothers, Thomas S. Keener and Carl D. Keener; several grandchildren. Funeral services and burial were held in Jacksonville, N.C.

Ruth E. Hall, age 88, of Lenoir City, passed away Saturday, May 27, 2006. She was a long time retail business owner with her husband in Lenoir City. A loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Ruth was a member of First Baptist Church in Lenoir City. Preceded in death by her parents, Jacob and Pauline Ehrensperger; husband, Oree D. Hall; sister, Irene Pienhardt; brothers, Al Ehrensperger and Edgar Ehrensperger. Survived by: son, Jon C. Hall and daughter-in-law, Dean of Whitwell, TN; son, Jerry D. Hall and daughter-in-law, Jane of Knoxville, TN; daughter, Deborah H. Coffey and son-in-law, John of Lenoir City, TN; sister, Aline Trimble of Cullman, Alabama; 8 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Gabriel Aaron Harris, age 27 of Lenoir City, passed away suddenly Saturday morning, May 27, 2006. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Lenoir City. Gabe was an employee of Dominos Pizza in Loudon and a former employee of Matlock Tire Company. He was preceded in death by his mother, Pam Harris Young; grandfathers: Jack Harris, H. Ross Wilkerson and Denver Watts. Gabe is survived by his wife, Jenny McDonald Harris; children: Shelbilyn, Kalie and Coby; father, Randy Harris and wife, Diane of Lenoir City; sister, Chasey Hachmann and husband, Dennis of Lenoir City; step-brother, Anthony Frost; niece, Bailey Hachmann; fathers-in-law and mothers-in-law, Jeff and Teresa McDonald of Loudon, Jeff and Renee Purdue of North Carolina; grandmothers, Beulah Harris and Clarius Littleton Smith of Lenoir City; many aunts, uncles and cousins. Dixie Manning Heape, age 70, of Lenoir City, passed away Sunday, May 28, 2006 at her home. She was a member of Northside Church of God and retired from Lenoir City Schools. Preceded in death by parents, Luther Alger and Gertrude Manning; husband, Roy E. Heape, Sr.; children, Jerre Nell Heape and Joseph Gregory Heape; brother, Luther Ray Manning and sister, Genevie Janeway. Survived by sister, Shirley Johnson of Lenoir City; children, Pam Stanley and husband, Marvin, Jackie Heape, Wanda Kimbrell and husband, Gene all of Lenoir City, Roy E. Heape, Jr. and wife, Missy of Ten Mile, Randy Heape and wife, Pat of Lenoir City; 11 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Martha Frances Penland, age 56, of Lenoir City, went home to be with the Lord, Sunday morning May 28, 2006, at her home. Frances was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a member of Hickory Creek Baptist Church and retired from Parkwest Hospital. Preceded in death by her parents, Lucien and Lenore Williams; brothers, Allen and Clifford Dyer; sisters, Betty Jane Williams and Virginia Lamb. Survived by her husband of 40 years, Gary Penland; sons, Tommy Penland and wife, Brandi, Lynn Penland and wife, Nancy; granddaughters: Baylee, Allie and Ashley; sister, Lillian Melton and husband, Charles (Boomer); brothers, David Williams and wife, Peggy, L.D. Mary C. Welch, age 85, of Arlington, VA went to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 25, 2006 in Farragut, TN. Mary was the oldest living member of Bethel Regular Baptist Church in Great Falls, VA. She loved to cook and was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond A. Welch Sr. Survivors: daughter and son-in-law, Joan and Walter Gose of TN; son and daughter-in-law, Raymond Jr. and Mary Welch of MD; grandchildren, Traci Yates and husband Wanlace of VA, Travis Gose of TN, William Welch of SC, Brenda Krytusa and husband Alan of VA, Sheila Almanzor and husband Marcel of SC; 11 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Mary Helen Vineyard Coates, age 74, of Lenoir City, passed away Tuesday, May 30, 2006. Mary was a member of West Broadway Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon W. Coates; parents, Cavada and Edna Pauline Vineyard; brothers, Kenneth, Clyde and Gary Vineyard; sister, Carol Jean Vineyard. Mary D. Price of Knoxville went to be with the Lord Monday morning, May 29, 2006 at Park West Hospital. Mary was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. She retired from Robert Shaw Controls after 42 years of service. She enjoyed her family and traveling. Survivors: husband of 47 years, Roy S. Price; proud mother of Jack Price of Maryville, Sandra McMurray and husband Doug of Vancouver, WA, Larry Price and wife Thelma of Fruithurst, AL, Roger Price and wife Barbara of Knoxville, Darrell Price and wife Lisa of Woodstock, GA; 15 grandchildren; several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; brother, Lawrence Duck and wife Frances of Jacksonville, FL; sister-in-law, Maye Price of Knoxville; several nieces and nephews. Sampsel, Peggy E. McGill, age 54, of Powell passed away suddenly Wednesday, May 31, 2006. Peggy was of the Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by her parents, William J. Veronica Currie, age 87, of Knoxville, formerly of Leesburg, Florida went to be with the Lord Tuesday, May 1, 2007 following a brief illness. Veronica was a Christian woman, gentle and devoted to her husband, family and Catholic faith. She brought joy to everyone she knew. She is survived by her husband, John; children Veronica and her husband, George; and John and his wife, Ramona; grandchildren, Michael and Elizabeth; great-grandchildren, Logan, Aiden and Andrew. A Mass will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at All Saints Catholic Church, 620 North Cedar Bluff Road, Knoxville followed by burial at the Pleasant Forest Cemetery. Edna Wheeler Wilkerson, age 81, of Lenoir City, passed away Wednesday, May 2, 2007. She was a lifelong member of Trinity United Methodist Church where she served the children of Trinity for over 30 years. Edna retired from Viskase after 28 years of service and after her retirement, continued to work at Dinner Bell in Lenoir City. She was a Girl Scout Leader for many years. Edna was preceded in death by her husband, Major Franklin Wilkerson; parents, Ethel Lyles Wheeler and Dewey Preston Wheeler.
