William (Bill) McNeely, of the Tellico Village Community, Loudon, TN formerly of Lapeer, MI, passed away Sunday, September 10, 2006 at his home. Bill was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Lenoir City. He retired from the U. S. Navy and was a former employee of the State of Michigan. Bill was preceded in death by parents, Edward and Mary McNeely; brother, Pat McNeely; sisters, Mary Helen Rine and Eileen King. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Shirley Carney McNeely; sons, Bill McNeely of Michigan, Joe McNeely and wife, Therese of Texas; daughter, Colleen Paul and husband, Dave of Michigan; grandchildren: Alicia, Nick, Jason, Josh, Nathan and Becca; great grandchildren, Lily and Aidan; brothers, Jack McNeely and wife, Marie, Jim McNeely all of Michigan; many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday followed by a vigil service at 8 p.m. at Click Funeral Home. A funeral Mass will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church with Father David Boettner celebrant. Memorial services will be held in Michigan at a later date. Sue Gragg Stewart, age 76, of Kingston, passed away Sunday, September 10, 2006. Sue was a graduate of Oak Ridge High School. She was an animal lover, active with the Best Friends of Utah and the local humane society along with various other animal rights organizations. Sue was preceded in death by her husband, Calvin Stewart; parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Gragg and brother, Howard W. Gragg. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Howard and Sharon Stewart of Brandon, FL; sister, Dorothy Gragg Hanna of Kingston; brother, Donald B. Gragg and wife, Andrea of Seattle, WA; beloved niece, Denise Grau of West Palm Beach, FL, and her three children, along with several other nieces and nephews. A private service will be held. Joan Rose Kunda Tennant Satterfield, age 74, of Knoxville, passed away Wednesday morning, September 13, 2006 at St. Mary's Hospice. Joan was born on September 16, 1931 in St. Phillips, Montana to Amelia and Felix Kunda. She attended elementary school at St. Mary's in Richardton, North Dakota, St. Phillips school in St. Phillips, Montana, Wibaux Public School in Wibaux, Montana and St. Thomas School in Great Falls, Montana. Joan attended high school in Wibaux, Montana and graduated in 1949. She entered Presentation School of Nursing, Holy Rosary Unit, in Miles City, Montana and graduated in 1952. Joan began her nursing career in Billings, Montana at the Deaconist Hospital and then moved to Spokane, Washington to work at Sacred Heart Hospital. She then entered the United States Navy and served at the Naval hospital in San Diego, California, where she met her future husband, James Hobart Fred Satterfield. The two were married on December, 15, 1956. After Joan and James completed their naval service, they moved to Knoxville where their six children were raised. She continued her nursing career at St. Mary's Hospital. In 1973, Joan began working at Park West Hospital, where she stayed until her retirement in 1995. Joan loved her family and spending time with her grandchildren. She was a active member of St. John Neumann Catholic Church. Joan was preceded in death by her husband, Fred; grand daughters, Shantel and Eliza; mother, Amelia; father, Felix and step father, Earl. She is survived by her children, James (Juanita) Satterfield, Donald (Sue) Satterfield, David Satterfield, Walter, (Julie) Satterfield, Charles (Teresa) Satterfield, and Ann (Bobby) Stinnett all of Knoxville. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren; brother, Don (Audrey) Tennant of Las Vegas, NV; sister, Margaret (John) Larimer of Prescott Valley, AZ; several nieces and nephews. Margaret J. Wiggins, age 79, of Lenoir City, passed away Tuesday, September 12, 2006 at Park West Hospital. Margaret was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Lenoir City. She retired from the Social Security Administration. Margaret served four years in the United States Air Force. She was preceded in death by parents, Frank and Mayme Wiggins; sisters, Sylvia and Patricia Wiggins; brothers, R. H., Calvin and James Wiggins. Survived by brothers, George Wiggins and wife, Joyce, Neal Wiggins all of Lenoir City, John Wiggins and wife, Peggy of Elizabethton; sisters, Beryl Wiggins of Lenoir City, Thelma Noe and husband, J. T. of Morristown; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Brackett, James Ronald (Ron), age 60, of Chattanooga passed away Thursday afternoon, September 14, 2006 at Memorial Hospital in Chattanooga. Ron was of the Baptist faith and a member of St. John's Memorial Baptist Church. He attended Lenoir City High School and was a former employee of Eaton Yale and Towne. He and his family moved to Chattanooga in 1976. Ron was a former employee of Southern Cellulose Company for 19 years. He was an currently employed with Hawker Power Source. He was preceded in death by his wife of 31 years, Linda Mantooth Brackett; parents, Marcus and Odell Bracett; brother, Gary Brackett and Lamar Brackett; sister, Wanda McGhee. Kenneth Maurice Flynn, age 69, of Lenoir City, passed away Wednesday, September 13, 2006. Ken was employed by the City of Knoxville, Codes Enforcement Director for 30 years. He was a former White House Policeman and retired from Metropolitan Police Department in Washington, DC. Ken was a member of Central United Methodist Church in Lenoir City. He was preceded in death by father, Billy Joe Flynn. Survived by his wife, Pauline (Polly) Flynn of Lenoir City; sons, Kenneth M. Flynn, Jr. of Cleveland, TN and David A. John D. Morgan, age 75, of Niota, formerly of Lenoir City, passed away Thursday, September 14, 2006 in Sweetwater. John was a member of North Sweetwater Baptist Church and a former member of South East Baptist Church in Lenoir City. He served in the U. S. Army Air Force and was a member of the American Legion, VFW and Masonic Lodge in Texas. John was a retired mechanic. He was preceded in death by parents; several brothers and sisters. Survived by his wife of 8 years, Hattie (Ann) Morgan; children, Alice Faye Dorman of Jackson, MS and David Morgan of Jackson, MS; stepchildren, Jerry Klipstine of Dallas, TX, Mary Ann Kennedy of Montana, Ricky Weaver of Carlsbad, NM, Dee Renner of Niota, Brenda Watkins of Kingman, AZ and Tammy Ray of Madisonville; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; sister, Leona Watkins of Washington State; many nieces and nephews. Fred W. Jones, age 71, of Farragut, passed away Monday morning, September 18, at his home after a brief illness. Fred was a long-time resident of the Town of Farragut and had served on the Farragut Metropolitan Planning Commission since 1985. He served as alderman from 1983 to 1985. Fred was appointed to serve on the Development Process Review Committee in 2005 and also served on a committee of the Planning Commission which was instrumental in developing the information for the Town’s Ordinance establishing Aquatic Buffer Zones along the town’s creeks. He retired from Lockheed Martin Energy Systems, Y-12 Plant, where he had a distinguished career. He was named Corporate Fellow in 1988 in recognition of major technical accomplishments in the development and implementation of revolutionary advancements in manufacturing technology for nuclear weapons. Fred led the development and implementation of numerical control precision machining and gauging at the Y-12 Plant to obtain revolutionary advances in accuracy. He was instrumental in establishing the manufacturing technology modernization program to revitalize Y-12’s manufacturing capabilities. Fred led Y-12’s early initiative to open Y-12 for technology transfer and cooperative initiatives by working with the private sector. Since his retirement, he has been a consultant with Pro2Serve in Oak Ridge. He was a graduate of the University of Tennessee with bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Mechanical Engineering, and was a registered Professional Engineer for the State of Tennessee. Fred had a great interest in anything mechanical and was an accomplished craftsman. His children and granddaughters, who called him “BaBa,” were the joys of his life. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Fred was born in Bessemer, AL, to Fred S. Jones and Vera Webster Jones, who preceded him in death. He is survived by: daughters, Susan Johnson, husband, Randy, and their daughter, Alison; Diane (DeeDee) Herbert, husband, Jerry, and their daughters, Abbie and Emily; sons Richard Jones and Mark Jones; brother, Robert Jones and wife, Vicki; sister, Virginia Monger of Lenoir City; niece, Joanie Eiffe and husband, Mike, and their children, Jennifer and Chas, of Knoxville; nephews, Jeffrey and Keith of Lenoir City, Hugh Curtis Monger, wife, Sue Ann, and their children, Ginny and Sam, of Las Cruces, New Mexico; and special friend, Jeanne Draughn. His ex-wife, Sue M. Jones, mother of his children, also survives him. O. Jean Kidder, of Easton, CT, died Saturday morning, September 16, 2006 in Knoxville, TN. Jean devoted her life to caring for her daughter, Sally Kidder of Stratford, CT, who survives her. Robert J. (Bob) Sneden, April 11, 1934- September 17, 2006, of the Tellico Village Community in Loudon, TN passed away in Knoxville, TN at the Parkwest Medical Center following a brief illness. Bob formerly resided in Grand Rapids, MI before retiring to Tennessee. He graduated from Columbia High in Maplewood, NJ and Lehigh University in Bethlehem, PA where he was a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity. Bob served in the United States Army and spent his career working for Johnson & Johnson. He was a member of the Tellico Village Community Church, where he sang in the church choir and was an avid golfer and traveler. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Evelyn and Walter Sneden. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Ann Hopper Sneden; children: John and Beth Sneden of Stillwater, MN, Donna and Tom Patch of Denver, CO, Chris and Carol Sneden of Stillwater, MN, Bill and Crystal Sneden of Knoxville; 11 grandchildren; brother, Richard Sneden and wife, Mina of Lyndeborough, MA, along with several nieces and nephews. Rita Del Vecchio, born in Washington, D.C. on February 29, 1916, and formerly of McLean, Virginia, Rita passed away peacefully on September 20, 2006 in Knoxville, Tennessee. She was preceded in death by her husband, Washington Post photographer Charles Del Vecchio, her daughter, Rita Collier and her son Charles Del Vecchio. She is survived by her daughter Christina and son-in-law Ray Sizemore, formerly of McLean and now residents of Knoxville, her brother Mike Basso of McLean, her sister Tina Amantia of Bethesda, eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Frank M. Walden, age 77, of Lenoir City, passed away Friday, September 22, 2006 at his home. Frank was a veteran of the U. S. Army serving in the Korean War and a member of American Legion Post 70. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Avery Masonic Lodge #593 F & AM, Knoxville Scottish Rite and Kerbela Temple. Frank was a former employee of Pepsi Cola of Knoxville, owner of Waldens Cafeteria, Waldens Billiard and Game Room and Melton Hill Market and Deli. He was preceded in death by son, M. Survived by her husband of 53 years, Frank Allweil; daughter, Renate Nietzold and husband, Bob of Bartlett, IL; son, Reinhold Allweil and wife, Penny of Brevard, NC; 9 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; sister, Charlotte “Lotte” Liebich of Germany; several nieces and nephews. Blackmon, Juanita Elizabeth McCown Johnson, age 91, of DeLand, FL formerly of Lenoir City, passed away Thursday, September 21, 2006 at Florida Hospital DeLand. She had been residing at the home of her niece, Claudia K. Grimshaw and her husband, Bob for the past 6 years. She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Carl Johnson; second love, Howard Blackmon, her husband of 13 years; father, John Porter McCown; mother, Katie Roxie Benson McCown; sisters, Daisy McCown Moser, Margaret McCown and Kathleen McCown Mincey; brother, Hubert McCown. Survived by her niece, Claudia K. Thomas Owen Patten, age 72, of Knoxville, TN, formerly of Charlotte, N C, passed away Friday, September 22, 2006 at his home. Tom was a veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard serving during the Korean War. He was the past President of the Textile Fibers and By Products Association and the Charlotte Textile Fibers and By Products Club. Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Louise Patten. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Joy Erdman Patten; children Pat Patten and wife Paula, Peggy Otey and husband Wade, Pam Patten, Polly Proctor and husband Parker, Joy Krebs and husband Matt; 10 grandchildren; Page and Tess Patten, Leigh and Tommy Otey, Parker, Patrick and Paul Proctor, Matthew, Mitchell and Meredith Krebs to whom he was affectionately known as “Spike”; one sister, Carole Ryan and husband Jack. Woodhouse, Dorothy (Dotty) Boyd - of the Tellico Village Community Loudon, TN formerly of Hopkinsville, KY and Chicago, IL passed away suddenly Wednesday, September 27, 2006 at her home of heart complications. Dotty had a special love for her family, friends and extended Tennessee family. She was of the Baptist faith. Dotty was a retired principal working in the Orland School District 135 in Chicago, IL. She was very active in various Tellico Village organizations. Preceded in death by parents, Jewell Clayton Boyd, Sr. and Mary Louise Quarles Boyd. Survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Clayton and Janet Boyd of Hopkinsville, KY; an uncle and numerous cousins. Frank L. Hamm Jr., age 54, of Lenoir City, passed away Saturday evening, September 30, 2006, at his home. Frank was a Christian and loved the Lord. He was a retired truck driver and avid woodworker. Conley Smith, age 82, of Knoxville, TN, formerly of Monroe, MI, slipped away from his home to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, September 29, 2006. Conley was born in Speedwell, TN on February 14, 1924. He served in the CCC of TN as a young man. He was a long-time member of Evergreen Acres Missionary Baptist Church, Monroe, MI. Conley was employed by Consolidated Paper Company, Monroe, MI for 30 years, retiring from Jefferson Smurfit Packaging Company in 1984. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lonnie and Lillie Leach Smith; two brothers Lonnie, Jr. and Hobert Smith; two sisters, Juanita and Dorothy Smith. In passing, Conley leaves to celebrate his wonderful life his wife of 46 years, Kathleen Owens Smith; two daughters, Vicki Lynne Callahan and husband, Brad, Brenda Lee Smith; three Grandchildren, Clint and Jessica Callhan and Lillie Grace Smith, all of Knoxville; two sisters, Edna (Ernest) Manning, Mary Shields; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Arthur and Dorsia Owens; sister-in-Law, Bonnie Smith; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Pat and John Lawson, Hesper and Margaret Owens, Carl and Linda Owens all of Monroe, MI; several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins and many beloved friends. The family will receive friends from 5 to 6:45 p.m. Monday in the Click Funeral Home Farragut Chapel with funeral services to follow at 7 p.m. with Rev. Jonathan Jonas officiating. Family and friends will gather at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Lake View Cemetery for graveside services. The family would like to extend special thanks to Doctors Ronald Yatteau, David England, Thomas Miller and Lee Jordan for their care for the past twenty years and to Baptist Hospice. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American Heart Association, 4708 Papermill Road, Knoxville, TN 37909. wwww.americanheart.org.
