Baker, Zola Mae Keener Hudson, age 79, of Lenoir City died Monday evening December 4, 2000 at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Dee Hudson in Idaho Falls Idaho. Mrs. Baker was the daughter of the late David Oscar Keener and Lola Byerley Keener of Lenoir City. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, H.G. Baker; sons, James and Ronald Hudson; brother, Carl Keener. In addition to her son and daughter-in-law, Mrs. Baker is survived by daughters-in-law, Dee Jeanne Hudson of Lenoir City and Pauline Hudson of Chicago Illinois; sisters, Gertrude Goforth of Lenoir City and Evelyn Hope of Huntsville Alabama; nieces, June Hensley, Barbara Ward and Alice Wade all of Lenoir City, Theressa Hope Key of Trenton; nephews, Carl Fred Keener of Loudon, and David Hope of Florence Alabama; She was blessed with many numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and friends. Mrs. Baker loved and was loved by everyone who knew her. Funeral services 11 A.M. Friday in the Hawkins Chapel with Rev. Wendell Trotter officiating. Interment will follow in the Loudon County Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6-8 P.M. Thursday at Hawkins Chapel 102 B Street in Lenoir City.

Stooksbury, Kyle F., age 71, of Lenoir City, passed away early Wednesday morning, December 6, 2000, at Park West Hospital. Kyle was a member of Central United Methodist Church. He was an Honorary Member of St. Marks United Methodist Church in Clinton. Kyle was retired from Oak Ridge National Laboratory as a Chem-Tech Cost Accountant. After his retirement Kyle worked for many years as a Real Estate Broker in Loudon County. He was a 50 year member of Valley Lodge #383 F&AM in Andersonville and was a Past Master. He was a member of the Scottish Knoxville Rite Bodies and a 32 degree Mason. Kyle was preceded in death by his loving wife of 48 years, Mary Shubert Stooksbury; parents, John B. Stooksbury and Elizabeth Sharp Stooksbury; sister, Edna Stooksbury Keeney; brothers, Roy, Carl and Bernie Stooksbury. Survivors: daughter and son-in-law, Jane and Jim Slaughter of Lenoir City; beloved granddaughter who was his pride and joy, Sara Elizabeth Slaughter; sisters, Ruth Human of Norris, Dorothy Heth and husband Chester of Beaufort S.C.; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, June Stooksbury of Oak Ridge, Annette Stooksbury of Clinton, Benny and Fannie Rhea Shubert, Judy and Wayne Howell all of Lenoir City; several nieces and nephews. Krouse, Gilbert (Bunky), age 61, of Lenoir City passed away Wednesday, December 6, 2000. He recently attended Highland Park Baptist Church. Bunky was an employee of the Lenoir City Street Dept. He was preceded in death by wives, Janice Isbill Krouse and Betty Morgan Krouse; father, Jim Krouse; brother, Sgt. James C. Krouse; nephew, Christopher Krouse. He is survived by his children, Tammy Hancock and her husband, Alan of Lenoir City, Avery Krouse of Lenoir City; mother, Jessie Krouse of Lenoir City, brothers, Marvin Krouse of Lenoir City and Clyde Krouse of Maryville; sisters, Glenda Suits and Marie Waters of Lenoir City; several nieces and nephews. Guettner, John M., age 79, of Kingston, passed away Wednesday December 6, 2000, at Roane Medical Center in Harriman. John was a life long faithful member of Union Chapel Baptist Church. He was a long time Roane County farmer. John was preceded in death by his parents, Sam Henry Guettner and Annie Tutterrow Guettner; sisters, Flora Cook, Katherine Barnard and Mildred Guettner; brothers, Claude and George Guettner; Survivors: sisters, Gussie Elliott of Salisbury Maryland, Ruby Robinette and husband Hoyt of Kingston, Mary Rogers of Kingston; sister-in-law, Grace Guettner of Snow Hill Maryland; several nieces and nephews. Smith, Mary Kate, age 96 of Knoxville, passed away Saturday morning, December 9, 2000 at Hillcrest North Nursing Home. She was of the Baptist faith. She was a former employee of Union Carbide in Oak Ridge. She was preceded in death by her husband, V.W. Smith; children: Bobby Smith, Mamie Bridges, Johnny Deford and Jimmy Casteel; Half-sister, Dorothy Kellogg. She is survived by her children: Dorothy Kagley; Janice Newcomb and husband James Wylie Byrd; Jack Smith and wife Fern all of Knoxville; Billy Joe Smith and Wife Shirley of Strawberry Plains; 22 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren and 2 step grandchildren. Simpson, Lavona E., age 94, of Lenoir City, passed away early Tuesday morning, December 12, 2000, at NHC Cavett Hill. Lavona was a member of First Baptist Church and was church librarian for many years. She was a graduate of the University of Tennessee. Lavona was a teacher and principal at Eatons School from 1927 until 1948. In 1949 she received a Masters degree from U.T., and returned to teaching in the Lenoir City School System, from 1950 until her retirement in 1971. Lavona was preceded in death by her parents, John Thomas Simpson and Levesta Tutterow Simpson; brothers, Paul Leeper Simpson and Ralph Thomas Simpson. Survivors: niece, Anne Simpson Pardington and husband George Palmer Pardington III; great niece, Suzanne Elizabeth Pardington; great nephew, Robert William Pardington all of Portland Oregon. Wright, John Robert, age 88, of Kingston, passed away Friday, December 15, 2000. He was a member and Deacon at Poplar Springs Baptist Church. He was employed at Union Carbide for 30 years. He was a beloved husband and father who will be dearly missed. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary Wright; brothers Carl Wright, Luther Wright and Burton Wright; sisters, Annie Caudle and Fannie Wright. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Laura Belle Wright; son, David Wright; daughter and son-in-law, June and Wayne Evans; 3 grandchildren, Dawn, Wes and Ben Evans all of Kingston; sister, Irene Ginn of St. Petersburg, Fl.; brother & sister-in-law, Tom and Velma Wright of Lenoir City; sister-in-law, Mildred McClanahan of Michigan; and numerous loving nieces and nephews. Herman, Ralph Clarence, age 88, of Lenoir City passed away Thursday, December 14, 2000 at his home. Ralph formerly lived in Chillicothe, Ill. for 40 years. He was a member of First Methodist in Chillicothe and later joined Martel United Methodist Church after moving to Tennessee. He was formerly a very active member at Arrowhead Country Club in Chillicothe where he was an avid golfer. Ralph retired from Meyer Heat and Air Conditioning in Peoria, Ill. He was a 46 year member of the Masonic Lodge, most recently being in the Chota Masonic Lodge. He was preceded in death by his wife, Adoni Juanita Herman. Survived by his daughter, Diane Judy Horak and her husband, Dr. James Albert Horak of Lenoir City; grandchildren, Rev. Ralph James Horak and his wife, Amy (D. Minister) of Red Bird Mission, KY., Kendell John Horak of Knoxville, and Gregory Eugene Horak of Lenoir City; great grandchild, Aaron Marshall Horak; sister, Viola Boylan of Hebron, Ind.; special nieces, Judy Risch, Eleanor Rohse and Mary Linda Oeder; nephews, Ward Lane and Dan Keene. Groves, Genevieve Kennelly, age 90, of Farragut TN, formerly of Elmont Long Island, passed away Thursday evening December 14, 2000 at her home. Genevieve was member of St. John Neumann Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her husband Leonard Groves. Survivors: sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Mary Ann Groves, Leonard and Judy Groves; daughter, Marie Groves all of Farragut; grandchildren, Barbara Ann Rice and husband Jim of Alexandria Virginia, Genevieve Groves and Richard Groves both of Farragut, Kenneth Groves of Centreville Virginia; great grandson, Steven Buffalo of Farragut; faithful dog, Corky; A mass of the resurrection will be held at 10 A.M. Eaker, Robert Lee (Bob), age 74, of Tellico Village passed away Saturday, December 16, at Parkwest Medical Center. Bob was a member of Central United Methodist Church and the United Volunteer Sunday School Class. He was a retired purchasing manager for SmithKline-Beecham. Bob was a US Navy Armed Guard veteran of WWII serving in the Pacific and the Mediterranean Theaters. He was a charter member of the Tellico Village Lions Club, and a 25 year member of the Bristol Host Lions Club. Bob was a member of Masonic Lodge #106 F&AM and the Scottish Rite of Freemasonary Jericho Temple. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas P. and Pearl O. Eaker; two sisters and three brothers. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Joann Eaker; daughter, Sherri Eaker of Knoxville; sons, Michael Eaker of Knoxville and David Eaker of Houston, TX; three sisters and three brothers. Buford, James Edward (Jim), age 74, of Lenoir City passed away Saturday, December 16, 2000 at his home. Jim was a member of First Baptist Church of Lenoir City and the Ivan Tinnel Sunday School Class. He was also a member of the Air Force Sergeants' Association. Jim was retired from K-25 in Oak Ridge where he worked as a maintenance supervisor. He was a veteran of WWII, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War serving in the Army and the Air Force. He was retired from the Air Force. He was preceded in death by his parents Hugh and Mae Bluford and his step-father, William Henry Johnson. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Margaret White Bluford; sons David Bluford and his wife Janie, and Mike Bluford and his wife, Cindy; grandsons Jeff Bluford, Kevin Bluford, and Chris Bluford all of Lenoir City. Terry, Henry Nate, age 78, of 775 Chrisman Road Lenoir City, passed away Monday afternoon, December 18, 2000, at the Farragut Health Care Center. Nate was retired from Martin Marietta Energy Systems Y-12. He was a veteran of World War II serving with the Army. Nate was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Viars Terry and daughter, Teresa Terry. Phelps, Thelma Belle Sweet, age 89, of Lenoir City, passed away Wednesday morning December 20, 2000 at Loudon Hospital. Thelma was a long time and faithful member of Central United Methodist Church and the Keystone Sunday School Class. LaGarce, Edmond (Ed) of Farragut passed away Wednesday, December 20, at the Farragut Health Care Center. He was of the Baptist faith. Ed worked at the K-Mart in Farragut for several years. He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Anna Lowe LaGarce, daughters, Elaine and Beverly LaGarce and sons, Dan and Greg LaGarce all of Nashville. Eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren and one great great grand child. Two step sons, Clifton and Mike Lowe of Knoxville, and four step -grandchildren and one step - great grand child. II serving in the U. S. Army and a Purple Heart recepient. Mose was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Green; daughter, Evelyn Christine Green; granddaughter, April Sabrina Green. Waller, Altha June Monger, age 66, of Oral Community, Roane Co., passed away Saturday Dec. 23 at her home. A member of the Oral Baptist Church. Retired from Maremont Corporation in Loudon. Preceded in death by parents T.L. and Pearl Monger, Brother Andrew "Buddy" Monger, infant sister Chistine Monger. Survived by her husband,James H. Waller; Children and spouses: Ranell and Mike Lane of Kingston, James Darryl and Diane Waller of Oral Community, Andrew Duane and Charlotte Waller of Lenoir City, and Michelle and Joey Foxx of Loudon; 8 Grand Children; sister, Norma Chaney and husband Hubert Chaney of Snellville, Ga.; many nieces, nephews, and cousins. James T. Maher, III, age 63, of Lenoir City, passed away Friday evening, December 22, 2000 at Ft. Sanders Loudon Hospital. James attended the South Holston Baptist Church and was a veteran of the Korean war serving in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the American Legion and V.F.W. He was preceded in death by a son, Ronald Gene Palmer. He is survived by his wife: Donna Lane Maher; children: James Daniel Maher, Donna Wolford and husband Thurman, Steven Palmer and wife Susan, Debbie Bagley, and John Palmer. Grandson: Stephen A. DeWitt was a member of Hickory Creek Community Baptist Church and had been a Baptist Minister for 37 years. A veteran of the United States Navy serving as Machinist Mate 2nd Class during WWII. Rev. DeWitt was a retired carpenter. He was preceded in death by his wife, Julia Arden Dewitt; his son, Dan Avery DeWitt; granddaughter,Shannon Dotson; parents, Charles and Etta Webb DeWitt; sisters: Leota Mashburn and Juanita Dunlap; son-in-law, Zeke Swanson. He is survived by his daughters: Joyce Anderson and husband Glenn of Marietta, Ga., Brenda Swanson of Brentwood, Tn., Marilyn Dotson and husband Gary of Knoxville, Robbie Schrimpsher and husband Mike of Lenoir City; sons: Buford DeWitt and wife Lucille, Eddie DeWitt all of Lenoir City; 18 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren; sisters: Mildred Hicks and husband Roscoe of Lenoir City, Reba Wilson of Madisonville and Arminda Stinnett of Woodruff, S.C.; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday in the Click Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. George Spears and Rev. Mike Wankowski officiating. Burial will follow in the Lenoir City Cemetery with military honors conferred by the East Tennessee Veteran Honor Guard. Grandsons will serve as pall bearers. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Click Funeral Home. The family would like to thank the following at Park West Hospital for their care of our Dad over the past three years: the Emergency Room Physicians, the wonderful nurses in ER, ICU, CCU, MICU, & COU, the X-Ray Techs, the Respiratory Therapists & all the CNA’s who took care of him. He loved you all so much and you made a very difficult three years easier for him. We would also like to thank Farragut First Baptist, Grassy Valley, Edgemoor Baptist & Centerview Churches for the food you provided in the ICU/CCU lounges over the years. May God bless each of you for ministering to not only our needs, but the thousands of families that have passed through there in very difficult times. A special thanks to all Dad’s physicians who took such good care of him over the years; Dr. Barnett, Drs. Hinkle, George Paul, age 64, of Seymour, passed away Sunday, December 24, 2000 at the Baptist Hospital. He was of the Baptist faith and was retired from a T & T after 38 years. He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond Hinkle. He is survived by his daughter, Amanda Bailey and husband Cameron of Louisville; grandchildren, Marissa Vineyard and James Bailey; mother, Blanche Liles Hinkle of Knoxville; brothers, Dennis Hinkle and David Hinkle; sister, Carolyn Hinkle all of Knoxville. Several nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday with funeral services to follow at 8 p.m. in the Click Funeral Home chapel with Rev. George Hollander officiating. Family and friends will gather at 10:30 a.m. Friday to proceed to the Woodlawn Cemetery in Lenoir City for grave-side services and interment at 11 a.m. Click Funeral Home in Lenoir City is serving the Hinkle family.

Weaver, Deborah Armour, age 44, of Philadelphia, TN, formerly of Lenoir City, passed away Tuesday, December 26, at Ft. Sanders Regional Medical Center. Deborah was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Lenoir City. She was a teacher with the Loudon County School System for 23 years, teaching at North Middle School and most recently Highland Park Elementary School. She was a member of the TEA and the NEA, and was the recipient of several "Teacher of the Year" awards. Deborah is survived by her husband of 22 years, Ruben Weaver; daughter Sarah; parents, John H. and Inez Armour; father-in law and mother-in-law Rev. Frank and Hazel Weaver all of Lenoir City. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Calvary Baptist Church Lenoir City with funeral services to follow at 8 p.m. with Rev. Charles Armour and Rev. Scott Cagle officiating. Family and friends will gather at 11 a.m. Friday at Lake View Cemetery for grave side services. Pall bearers Jim Greenway, David Clinton, Arthur Kelso, Darrell Tuck, Joe Malloy, and David Meers. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Highland Park Elementary School Library, 4404 Highway 11 East, Lenoir City, TN 37772 for the purchase of books, or to Calvary Baptist Church, 300 West First Avenue, Lenoir City, TN 37771. Gambill, Jesse, age 88, of Lenoir City passed away Tuesday afternoon December 26,2000 at Park West Hospital. Jesse was a member of Dixie Lee Baptist Church, the Sons of the Confederacy and the Sons of the American Revolution. He was a veteran of World War II serving with the Army in both the European and Pacific Theaters. Jesse was a graduate of Farragut High School and the University of Tennessee. After graduation, he taught High School in Hixon Tennessee (Hamilton County) for three years. Jesse then took a position with the Knoxville Post Office and worked there for thirty one years until his retirement in 1972. Jesse was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Andrew Jackson Gambill and Mollie Jane Walker Gambill; sister, Lida Gambill; Survivors: wife, Doris Lents Gambill; niece, Mary Jane Cook Hilyer of Knoxville ;nephew, John Hilyer of Farragut; Family and friends will gather at 2 p.m. Thursday at Edgewood Cemetery for graveside service with Rev. James D. Clayton officiating. Friends may call at their convenience at Click Funeral Home in Lenoir City.
