Plunkett, Frances Sheffield, age 89, of Atlanta, GA, passed away Monday, February 11, 2002 in Tennessee where she had been residing in Knoxville for the last 10 years. Frances was the daughter of Samuel and Minnie Allen Sheffield of Shellman, GA. She was a member of Wieuca Road Baptist Church in Atlanta where she was a Sunday School and Pre-School Teacher and a member of Tri Delta Sorority at Brenau College in Gainesville, GA. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert Brantley Plunkett of Atlanta, GA. who was a partner with Lamberson, Plunkett, Shirley and Wooddall Architects; sisters, Mildred Sheffield Ward and Martha Sheffield Pitman; brothers, John Edgar Sheffield and Allen Sheffield. Frances is survived by her children, Susan Plunkett O’Shields and husband, Eddie J. O’Shields of Knoxville, TN; Bobby Plunkett and wife, Shere’ Champagne Plunkett of Houston, TX; grandchildren, Emmie O’Shields of Knoxville, TN, Ashley Lauren Plunkett and John Brantley Plunkett both of Houston, TX; niece, Barbara Ward Edmondson and nephews, Eugene Ward, Ayers Sheffield Pitman and John Sheffield. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Thursday at the Wieuca Road Baptist Church with funeral services to follow at 11:30 a.m. Interment will follow in the Arlington Cemetery. Johnson, Albert Hickey, age 88, of West Knoxville, passed away Monday, February 11, 2002 at the Park West Hospital. He was a longtime member and Deacon of Dixie Lee Baptist Church. Albert was retired from Union Carbide, Y-12 plant where he was a machinist supervisor. Preceded in death by wife of 64 years, Edith Watt Johnson; brothers, Howard, Carl, Luther, Walter and Earl Johnson; sisters, Della Hardin and Jessie Grant; Survived by brother, William R. Johnson and wife, Merodie of Oakhurst, N.J.; special niece, Mary Margaret Lawson and husband, Walter of Tocoma, WA; great nephews, Vance Lawson of Tacoma, WA, Timothy Lawson and wife, Crystal; great great nephew, Collin Lawson all of Ft. Brag, N.C.; several nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law, Willie, Ruby and Kitty Lou Johnson. Coley, George E., age 94, of West Knoxville, passed away Tuesday morning, February 12, 2002 at the Farragut Health Care Center. He was a member of Friendship Baptist Church in Lenoir City. Survived by son, Bryant Coley and wife, Mary; daughters, Eva Fain and husband, Fred, Dean Baker and husband, Frank; seven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; brothers, C. J. Coley and wife, Katherine, Virgil Coley and wife, Ida; sisters, Mae Miller and husband, Roy, and Nan Farmer; sister-in-law, Ruby Coley; several nieces and nephews. Harvey, Billy Joe, age 65, of Clinton, previously of Loudon, passed away Tuesday, February 12, 2002 at Ft. Sanders Medical Center. Bill was a faithful member and Deacon of Solid Rock Baptist Church of Powell. Bill played the guitar and he and his wife, Jerry, were longtime Gospel Singers with the Harvey’s. He was a truck driver for 36 years and retired from Averitt Express. He was a member of Avery Masonic Lodge #593 F & AM and the Order of Eastern Star #188. He was preceded in death by parents, Albert and Minnie Jo Harvey; grandparents, Sam and Addie McNabb all of Loudon. Survived by wife of 47 years, Jerline (Jerry) Smith Harvey; three daughters: Connie Clabough and husband, Steve of Knoxville, Jo Campbell and husband, Jim of Maynardville, Sherry Nelson and husband, Greg of Clinton; six grandchildren: Michelle, Abby, Tony, Jill, Dustin, and Wesley; one great grandchild, Tyler; two brothers, Sam Harvey and wife, Eva, Tommy Harvey and wife, Donna all of Lenoir City; three sisters: Maxine Bunch and husband Coy of Loudon, Phyllis Anne Dennis and husband, Jerry of MS, Nancy Stephens and husband, Doug of Murfreesboro; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and many dear friends. Lane, Donald Lee, age 53, of Lenoir City, passed away, Tuesday, February 12, 2002 at the Parkwest Hospital. He attended Sixth Avenue Church of God. Donnie served on the Lenoir City Council. He served as mayor of Lenoir City from 1991 to 1993. He was retired from Sears. Donnie was a servant to the community of Lenoir City and was always willing to help others. Preceded in death by father, Eugene Lane. Survived by wife, Darlene Preston Lane; children, Jennifer Decker, Ashley Lane and Nathan Lane ; mother, Jane Lane; grandchildren, Brayden and Bailey Decker, and Zella Lane; brother, Ron Lane all of Lenoir City; several nieces and nephews. Keeler, Mary Kathryn (Peggy), age 88, of Knoxville, TN, formerly of Somerset, PA, and New York City, NY, passed away Thursday, February 14, 2002, at Loving Care Nursing Home. Peggy was a member of the Knoxville Christian Center and was active in the Prayer Line Ministry. She was a gray lady at Canonsburg Hospital in Canonsburg, PA. Peggy was active in the Eastern Star and the Daughters of the American Revolution. During World War II, she was an employee of the U. S. Postal Service and was given a commendation for her work in Intelligence activities. Peggy was the owner of Spruce Hill Nursery in McMurray, PA for many years, and was an avid gardener and a member of several garden clubs. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde P. Keeler and brother, John Phillippi. Survivors: daughter and son-in-law, Sally and Charles Lightholder of Farragut, TN; grandchildren, Tammy Lightholder of Farragut, TN, Todd Lightholder, wife Kym of Knoxville, TN and their children, Joseph and Lucy, Rick Lightholder, wife Shawn of Indianapolis, IN and their children, Ryane and Tyler; sister, June Martin of Scottsdale, AZ; brothers and sisters-in-law, James and Doris Phillippi of Pittsburgh, PA, Robert and Elda Phillippi of Somerset, PA; sister-in-law, Jean Phillippi of Pittsburgh, PA; several nieces and nephews. Amos, Rev. Gary Lynn, age 43, of Loudon, went to be with Lord Friday, February 15, 2002. He was a member of the Philadelphia Worship Center Church of God and served as Chaplain of Toqua District Boy Scouts of America and the Loudon County Sheriff’s Department. He was a former member of the Loudon County Rescue Squad and former member of the Anchormen Gospel Group of Maryville. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Edward and Ella Mae Amos. Waft, Jeffrey Ray (Josey Wales) - Lenoir City - age 39 went home on Saturday, February 16, 2002 after a difficult battle with Brain Cancer. Jeffrey finally found the love of his life, His LORD Jesus Christ, three years ago. He never missed an opportunity to introduce others to HIM and was willing to share this great love. Jeffrey's prayer was that his family would come to know HIM as he had so he will see them again in Heaven. Calhoun, Mary Josephine Pickett, age 93, of Knoxville, TN, entered into rest Sunday evening, February 17, 2002, at her home. She was born May 12, 1908 in Galena, KS, to Mitchell J. and Rose Anna Murphy Pickett. Jo married Ralph Emerson (Cal) Calhoun on November 10, 1931. Her husband's employment with American Zinc Lead and Smelting Co. moved them from Joplin, MO, to Metalline Falls, WA, El Paso, TX, and later, to Mascot and Knoxville, TN. For more than 40 years, she regularly attended Immaculate Conception and St. John Neumann Catholic Churches and exhibited a strong faith in God. Jo Jo gave generously of her time and talents to her church and community. Well-known to her family as a consummate storyteller, she passed along hundreds of tales (some taller than others). Her exuberance about life, her family and her friends will long be remembered. She will be missed. Her parents, husband, two brothers and two sisters preceded her in death. Jo is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Bill and Lynn Calhoun of Silverton, ID, Bob and Shirley Calhoun of Albuquerque, NM; daughter and son-in-law, Ann and Fred McMurray of Knoxville, TN; 6 grandchildren, John Calhoun, Bob Calhoun, Mike Calhoun, Mitch Calhoun, Chad McMurray and Megan McMurray; 4 great grandchildren, Gavin Calhoun and Mariah Calbero, Marcus Calhoun and Cameron Calhoun; 3 nieces; several Murphy, Vernatti and Pickett cousins, a host of friends, and loving, supportive caregivers. Garrison, Sarah Nell, age 60, of Lenoir City went to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 21, 2002. She was of the Baptist Faith. Sarah was retired from Maremont after 17 years of service. Self, Edith Louise, age 88, of Lenoir City, passed away Friday, February 22, 2002. She attended Sixth Avenue Church of God. Edith was preceded in death by her husband, Allen Self; parents, Jeff Tallent and Lucy Veal Tallent; sisters, Lucille Tallent, Pearl Cloud, Jenny Kelly, Flora Mull and Mattie Key; brothers, Woodrow Tallent, Leo Tallent and Roy Tallent. Survived by daughters, Gay Nell Self and Betty Crass & husband, Ralph all of Lenoir City; grandchildren; Sandy Parkerson and husband, Tony, Shenna Latham and husband, Charlie, Miranda Burd and husband, Josh; great grandchildren: Shelby Burd, Trent Burd, Tucker Parkerson, Hayley Parkerson, Anna Latham and Allison Latham; brother-in-law, J. Hickman, Grace Kelso Neeley, age 90, of Chattanooga, formerly of Lenoir City, passed away Friday, February 22, 2002 at 11:05 p.m.. Grace was born in Bay St. Louis, MS and spent her younger years in D'lo, MS. Following high school and graduation from Southern Miss. College, she went to Oak Ridge, TN where during World War II, she worked as an analyst at K-25 laboratory for Martin Marietta until her retirement in 1974. She was preceded in death by her husband Wilbur D. (Dolf) Neeley of Kingston and later by her husband William H. (Dub) Hickman of Lenoir City. Grace and Dub resided in Lenoir City (Dixie Lee Junction). Following Dub's death, she remained in Lenoir City where she was active in Central United Methodist Church as a Sunday School Teacher. She was on the Lenoir City Beautification Board and was very active in the Garden Club and Home Demonstration Club. In 1993 she moved to Chattanooga, TN, where she became a member of Brainerd Baptist Church. Grace is survived by her nieces: Nancy Kelso Myers of Chattanooga, TN, Marion McKean of AZ, Flora (Mickey) O'Barr of AZ; nephews, Stephen Kelso of Kingsport, TN and and Lee Evans of West Monroe, LA and many great nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 3 to 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, February 24 at Click Funeral Home in Lenoir City. Funeral services will follow at 4:30 p.m. in the Click Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Evans, James Aaron, age 80, of Lenoir City, passed away Saturday afternoon, February 23, 2002, at his home. James was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Lenoir City. He wa a veteran of World War II. James was retired from Bethlehem Steel in Baltimore, MD as a Plate Millwright and was a member of Operating Engineers IUOE Local #917. He had an interest in sports and enjoyed watching basketball. James was preceded in death by his parents, Charles R. Evans Sr. and Fannie Hambright Evans; brothers, H.C. Evans and Charles R. Evans Jr. Survivors: wife of 48 years, Gwendolyn Rankin Evans; brother, Frank Evans of Durham, NC; two special sisters-in-law, Mary Evans of Lenoir City and Agnes Evans of Knoxville; several nieces and nephews; very special friend, Gene Kincaid of Lenoir City; special pet, Prissy. Crisp, Margaret Ruth Cagle, age 80, of Loudon formerly of Lenoir City, passed away Monday morning, February 25, 2002 at the Ft. Sanders Loudon Medical Center. She was a member of Nelson Street Baptist Church. A retired machine operator from Scovill. Preceded in death by parents, Hugh and Rachel Jenkins; first husband, Buck Cagle. Survived by husband, James Crisp of Loudon; step-children, Diane Sutton of Lenoir City, Randy Crisp of Mississippi, Jimmie Sue Wright and Beverly Morris both of Georgia; sister-in-law, Mattie Lee Jenkins of Loudon; nephews, Terry Jenkins and Bill Jenkins; niece, Margaret Ann Pressley. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday in the Click Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jack Palmer and Rev. Frank Weaver officiating. Wickman, Morgan Jr., of Kingston, passed away Sunday morning, February 24, 2002. He served in World War II and received the Medal of Jubilee for service on Normandy Beach. Morgan worked for the U. S. Army Corp. of Engineers from 1948 - 1980. He was a member of Lenoir City First Church of the Nazarene since moving to Kingston in 1992. It says in the Bible, By his fruits you will know him - anyone that knew Morgan was aware of his great faith and his love for Jesus. Morgan will be truely missed. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Maude and Morgan Wickman of Sault Sainte Marie, MI. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Olive; his 4 daughters, Norma Patterson and husband, Walter of Kingston, Sharon Gray and husband, Dave of Catawissa, PA, Bernice Koprince and husband, Bill of Lenoir City and Marge Zeigler of Kingston; grandchildren: Adam Patterson and wife, Alissa, Wendy and Ryan Patterson, David, Ricky and Bryce Gray, Billy and Morgan Koprince and Sydney and Zachary Zeigler; great grandchild, Eli Patterson; sisters, Dorothy Kennel of Owosso, MI, Jean Smith and Hazel Warner of Sault Sainte Marie, MI, twin sister, Marjorie Klintworth of Titusville, FL and Laura Ogle of Fort Lauderdale, FL. Hughes, Lois McCurry, age 90, of Knoxville, TN, formerly of Green Mountain, NC, passed away Monday morning February 25, 2002, at Shannondale Health Care Center in Knoxville, TN. Lois was a member of Zion Baptist Church in Green Mountain, NC. She was preceded in death by her husband, Shelton Hughes; brothers, Virgil, Carl and Frank McCurry. Survivors: daughter and son-in-law, Jean and W. C. Brandon; granddaughters, Vicky and Cheryl Brandon all of Knoxville, TN; sister, Pansy Woody of Green Mountain, NC; brother, Jim McCurry of Strawberry Plains, TN; sister-in-law, Frances McCurry of Micaville, NC; several nieces and nephews.
