Cook, Betty Jean "Nannie", age 65, of Lenoir City went to be with the Lord on Easter Sunday, April 11, 2004. She was a loving Mother, Grandmother and Friend to many. Betty was a former employee of Baptist Health Care where she devoted 20 years of service. She was preceded in death by parents, John and Easter Skidmore; daughter, Barbara Jean Cook and the father of her children, Douglas Cook. Survived by her children and their spouses, Buster and Missy Cook, Jeannie and Mike Dutton, David and Amy Cook, Patty and Steve Suerth with whom she resided; sister, Jonnie Garner and husband, Calvin; brother, Arthur "Spud" Skidmore; nephew, Anthony Garner; grandchildren: John, Kaelyn, Kalley, Kara, Elijah and Desiree Cook, Kane Suerth, Josh, Devin and Katie Dutton. Spears, Charles A. (Chuck) - born February 1, 1957 passed away to eternal life on Monday, April 12 2004. He was a member of Highland Park Baptist Church. A longtime employee of Malibu Boat Co. Preceded in death by his father, Jack B. Spears; grandparents, Dexter and Edith Pierce, Willie S. Garrett and George and Maude Spears. Survived by son, Charles A. (Charley) Spears; mother, Eleanor Spears; brothers, Rev. C. J. Wender, Neil F., age 88, of Roane Co., passed away Tuesday, April 13, 2004 at his home. He was a member of St. John Neumann Catholic Church. In his youth, Neil served in the Maine National Guard and later served in the United States Army during World War II. Neil retired from Dempster Brother's in Knoxville. He was a former member of the Lake City American Legion . Preceded in death by his wife, Edith Wender; daughter, Phyllis Wender and brother, William Hood Wender Jr. Survived by children: Jeanette Burke and husband, Leonard of Ohio, Theda White and husband, Paris of Powell and Pamela Marlene Presley of Roane Co.; beloved friend and caretaker, Cindy Moore of Roane Co.; grandchildren: Theresa, Allen, Neil, Beth, Sandy, Denise, Dennis, Darryl, Doug, Edye and Eddie; 16 great grandchildren; 7 great great grandchildren; dear friend, Delilah; brother, Raymond Wender of Florida; sister, Laurette Vaughan of Georgia; several nieces, nephews and recent companion, Naomi Grigsby. Summitt, Vivian Barron, age 76, of Mountain View, Arkansas, formerly of Farragut, died Friday, March 5, 2004 in Mountain View. Vivian was born September 15, 1927 in Mount Vernon Kentucky. She was a long time resident of Farragut. She was retired from Carrier Corp and was a housewife. Vivian was preceded in death by her parents, George and Lula Perciful Barron; five brothers and two sisters. Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Joseph O. Summitt of Mountain View, AR; daughter, Sally Summitt of Mt. View AR; son and daughter-in-law. Sid and Iris Summitt of Flowery Branch, GA; 3 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; She will be sadly missed. Sothman, E. Peter, age 70, of West Knoxville, passed away Thursday morning, April 15, 2004 at his home. Peter was retired from Martin Marietta X-10 plant as Project Manager. He was a member of All Saints Catholic Church. He was a graduate of the University of Maine College of Engineering. Peter was an avid fisherman, stamp collector and golfer. He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy serving during the Korean Conflict. Peter was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Margaret Hyland Sothman. Survivors: wife of 35 years, Evelyn Sothman; daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Chris Vinyard of Kent, OH. Eyrich, Rev. George William, age 56, of Knoxville went to be with the Lord Tuesday evening, April 20, 2004 at Baptist Hospital West. George was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and Minister of Singles. He was a volunteer chaplain at Baptist Hospital West and East Tennessee Baptist Medical Center. He was an avid carpenter, photographer, ham radio operator and license pilot. He retired after 27 years as a State Farm Agent but his joy in life was to serve the Lord. He was a wonderful and devoted husband, father and grandfather. Sopchak, Richard J. (Rick), of Farragut, formerly of California, passed away early Saturday morning, April 24, 2004 at Baptist Hospital West. Rick was retired from Yellow Freight Systems in Pico Rivera, CA. He was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict for four years. Lowry, Carol Walden, age 67, of Farragut, formerly of Chattanooga and Chicago, IL, passed away early Friday morning, April 1, 2005 at Park West Hospital in Knoxville. Carol was born in Washington Georgia and grew up in Georgia. She was a graduate of LaFayette High School, Class of 1955 and later received a Bachelor of Arts from Northeastern Illinois University. She was a vital and active member of Cokesbury United Methodist Church where she served as the Food Pantry Coordinator. Carol was a warm, caring and generous person, who made friends with people of all ages. She was involved in many volunteer activities and loved music and nature. She was a preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Donald Lowry; parents, William Floyd Walden and Louise Taylor Walden. Survivors: brother and sister-in-law, Bruce and Hilda Walden of Tallahassee, FL; sister-in-law, Suzanne Lowry Barnett of Hixson; brother-in-law, Charles Marvin Lowry Jr. of LaFayette, GA; several nieces and nephews. Conner, Maola Evelyn, age 89, of Lenoir City, passed away Sunday April 3, 2005 at the Loudon Healthcare Center. She was a lifelong member of the Lenoir City Cumberland Presbyterian Church where she had served as an Elder, taught Sunday School for many years, sang in the choir and had held all offices in the Cumberland Presbyterian Women’s Group. She was a long time member of the Pilot Club of Lenoir City. She was a teacher in Loudon County Schools for 6 years before going to work at Union Carbide Y12 plant from which she retired after 32 years of service. She was preceded in death by her parents, Will and Laura Conner; brother, Dow Conner and sister Marie Conner Perry. Survivors are niece Shirley Thomas and husband Sol of Lenoir City; nephew Edward Perry and wife Patty of Little Rock, AR.; great nephews, Michael Thomas of New York City, Mark and Monica Thomas of Maryville; great-great nephews, Jacob Conner Thomas and Zachary Michael Thomas. The family will receive friends from 6-7:15 p.m. Monday with funeral services to follow at 7:30 p.m. in the Click Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Don McConnell officiating. Family and friends will gather at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the Lenoir City Cemetery for graveside services and interment. Click Funeral Home, Lenoir City is serving the family of Maola Conner.

Barrier, Ida Mae, age 74, of Loudon, entered the eternal gates of heaven Saturday, April 2, at 12 noon following a lingering illness. She was a member of Vaughns Chapel Baptist Church. Ida Mae was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her infant son, David G. Barrier; father, E. W. Engel and mother, Ida R. Engel; sister, Mary Christine(Engel) Rowe; brother, W.E. Engel; son-in-law, Gary Amos. Ida Mae is survived by her husband of 53 years, Robert G. Barrier; daughter, Janie L. Amos of Loudon; son, Ted A. Barrier of Loudon; grandson, John R. Amos and wife, Tiffany and great grandson, Chase Robert Reed Amos all of England; sister, Lorene Staples of Greenville, SC along with several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m. Monday at Click Funeral Home in Lenoir City. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Click Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Gene Russell and Rev. Billy Seales officiating. Interment will follow in the Lenoir City Cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Joe Engel, Dennis Rowe, Dean Rowe, Mark Staples, Chris Rowe and Mike Cartwright. Click Funeral Home in Lenoir City is serving the family of Ida Mae Barrier.

Garrett, Rev. Arnold, age 68, of Knoxville, went home to be with Jesus Sunday morning, April 3, 2005 at Park West Hospital. Arnold was a member of Valley View Baptist Church. He was retired from White Lily with 38 years of years of service. He was a member of Powell Lodge #582 F&AM, Scottish Rite, York Rite, Shriner and the Grand Chapter Royal Arch Masons of TN. A veteran of the Korean Conflict serving with the U S Army. He was a member of the Walking Club at West Town Mall. Arnold was preceded in death by parents, John Garrett and Mary Belle Worley Garrett Anderson; brothers, Willie, Richard Lee and Robert Garrett; sisters, Mable Phillips, Dovie Bynes and Louise Johnson. Survivors: wife, Naomi Garrett; sons and daughters-in-law, Rev. Gene and Jayma Garrett, Jeffrey and Janice Garrett, Rev. Greg and Denise Garrett; grandson, Lynn Garrett and wife Debra all of Knoxville; sister, Elizabeth Jones of Loudon; several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 5 to 6:45 p.m. Tuesday at the Click Funeral Home Farragut Chapel followed by a masonic service at 7 p.m. conferred by Powell Lodge. Funeral services will follow with Rev. Delton Cochran and Rev. Steve Grindstaff officiating. Family and friends will gather at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Highland Memorial Cemetery for graveside service with Rev. Paul Walker and Rev. Dewey Cooper officiating. McLean, Samantha Ann, age 25, of Lenoir City, passed away Tuesday, April 5, 2005 at her home. She was preceded in death by mother, Carol McLean; grandmothers, Peggy Childs and Wanda McLean; great grandmother and great grandfather, Mary and George Stinnett. Survived by brother, David McLean and his wife, Leah; sister, Charlene McLean and fiancee, Michael Harris all of Lenoir City; father, Charles McLean and special friend, Helen Hunley of Knoxville; fiancee’, David Irwin; aunts, Nancy Franklin and husband, R.C. of Lenoir City and Donna Beason and husband Robert of Crossville; uncle, Randall Chambers and wife, Pat of Harriman; grandfathers, Eddie Childs of Kingston and Leonard McLean of Rockwood; grandmother, Ruth Taylor of Spring City; great uncle, Roland Stinnett; many cousins, nieces and nephews . The family will receive friends from 12 to 2 p.m. Friday at the Hawkins Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. with Rev. Percy Green will officiate. Burial will follow in Lakeview Cemetery. Hawkins Chapel, 102 B Street, Lenoir City is serving the family of Samantha Ann McLean.
