Williams, Lucien D. Sr., age 88, of Lenoir City, passed away, Monday, January 20, 2003 at the Ft. Sanders Loudon Hospital. Lucien was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church. He was a retired concrete finisher. Preceded in death by wife, Lenore Williams; 1 son;1 step-son; 2 daughters; parents; 4 brothers and 4 sisters. Monson, Della, age 77, of Louisville, TN passed away suddenly, Monday, January 20, 2003. Preceded in death by sisters, Ruth Goins and Louise Franklin; brothers, Junior Williams, Alfred Williams and Ray Williams. Smallen, Virgil H., age 85, of Lenoir City, passed away Tuesday, January 21, 2003 at the Blount Memorial Hospital. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Virgil was a retired machinist from Martin Marietta. A veteran of W. W. II serving in the U. S. Army Air Corp, he was an ex P. O. W. having been imprisoned in a Nazi War Camp from November 2, 1943 to May 2, 1944. Virgil was a member of the 457th Bomb Group. Preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lou Smallen; parents, Sam and Cordelia Smallen; and sister, Marie Thomas. Survived by sister, Ruby Gray of Loudon; several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:15 p.m. Thursday with funeral services to follow at 7:30 p.m. in the Click Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Steve Taylor and Rev. Bobby Lockwood officiating. Henry, Alma Mae Whitaker, age 91, of Lenoir City, passed away Tuesday, January 21, 2003. She was born April 3, 1911 at Calhoun, TN to Edgar McAlrath and Mary Cordelia Moreland Whitaker. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church for 55 years. A member of the Order of Eastern Star, Calhoun Chapter #187. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Franklin Henry, former Principal of Lenoir City High School; sisters, Nina Augusta Barber, Frances Elizabeth Kinkaid, and Willie Imogene Argenbright; brothers, Harold, George, Carter and Robert Whitaker. Linginfelter, Gerald David (Brownie), age 54, of Loudon, passed away Tuesday, January 21, 2003. He was a local carpenter and roofer for many years. He was veteran of the Vietnam War serving in the U. S. Army. Preceded in death by mother, Mabel Linginfelter; father, Clyde Linginfelter; sisters, Barbara Raby and Virginia Collins. Survived by wife, Lois Linginfelter; children, Tammy Watkins and husband, Michael of Loudon, Ronald Bright and wife, Jane of Loudon, Greg Linginfelter and wife, Donna of Halls; grandchildren: Justin Bright, Tiffany Watkins, Brittany Watkins, Casey, Christopher, Natasha and Matthew Bright, Samantha Linginfelter and T. George was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Lenoir City. Preceded in death by parents, Fred and Josie Williams; and sister, Glendora Hickman. Bokan, Minnie Jane, age 69, of Lenoir City, passed away Wednesday, January 22, 2003 at Ft. Sanders Regional Medical Center. She was of the Baptist faith. A member of Fraternal Order of Police. Preceded in death by parents, George W. and Emma Thomas; brothers, Roy, Jack, George and Jake Thomas; and sister, Juanita Parker. Survived by daughters, Sandra Bokan of Loudon and Milane Bokan of Knoxville; grandson, Steven Wolfe of Knoxville; sister, Winnie McAlister of Lenoir City; brother, Robert S. Edgar, Dr. Ralph Milton, 56, of Farragut, died suddenly Wednesday evening January 22, 2003, at his home. Ralph, an Air Force veteran, was a graduate of Wake Forest University and completed his PhD at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville in psychology. He was a licensed psychologist and member of the American Psychological Association. Dr. Edgar was currently Director of Special Education for the Lenoir City Schools where he had worked for more than 25 years. He devoted his life to children and received the 2002 LTEVC Outstanding Educator Award for Loudon County. Ralph was an avid golfer and fisherman, loved music, cooking and entertaining in his home. The Edgars attended First Farragut United Methodist Church. Survivors include his high school sweet heart and wife of 34 years, Jennifer Moser Edgar; daughter, Kimberly Edgar of Destin, FL; parents, Donald and Mozelle McFarland Edgar of Elizabethton; brothers and sisters-in-law, Ronald and Bobbie Edgar of Athens, GA, Robert and Karen Edgar of Johnson City, Daniel Edgar of Peachtree City, GA; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, David and Pat Moser of Johnson City; several nieces, nephews, uncles and aunts. Workman, Joan, of Knoxville, formerly of Charleston, SC, born November 9, 1936, passed away Thursday evening January 23, 2003 at her home. Joan was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Along with raising her family, she also enjoyed many activities including, toll painting, traveling, cruising, and flower gardening. Joan spent many years of her life being the primary care giver for her mother and her father. Surviving Joan is her husband of 49 years, Edwin Workman; children, Edwin G. Workman, Mark S. Workman, Timothy M. Workman, all of Charleston, SC, Richard A. Workman and Debra J. Buchanan both of Knoxville; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Fine, Pearl Leona, age 90, of Lenoir City, passed away early Sunday morning, January 26, 2003 at the Ft Sanders Loudon Medical Center. She attended Central United Methodist Church in Lenoir City. Pearl was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford Fine; parents; Charlie and Mae (Reno) Babb; brothers, Jack Babb and his wife, Frances, and Ralph Babb; sister, Bobbye Simmons and her husband, Bill; brother-in-law. She is survived by her son, Dan Fine and his wife, Sandra of Lenoir City; grandson, Adam Fine of Lenoir City; granddaughter, Melissa Presswood and her husband, Nathan of Athens; brother, Claude (Skip) Babb and his wife, Edna of Huntsville, AL; sisters, Imogene McCarroll, Rachel Nelson and her husband, Glen all of Lenoir City; sister-in- law, Grace Babb of Johnson City and several nieces and nephews. Applegate, Mary Louise Pryce, age 79, of Knoxville, TN, formerly of Sauk Prairie, WI, passed away unexpectedly Friday morning, January 24, 2003 at her home. Mary Louise was a member of Westside Unitarian Universalist Church in Knoxville. She was a retired pharmacist. Survivors: husband of 50 years, Rob Applegate; daughter and son-law, Terri and Andy Weber of Durham, NH; grandchildren, Carly and Ali Weber. Russell, Hester Mae Christina, age 87, of Lenoir City, passed away Sunday, January 26, 2003 at the Loudon Healthcare Center. She was a member of Antioch Baptist Church. She was a former employee of Y-12 in Oak Ridge, Bacon Hosiery Mill, and Convalescent Nursing Homes. Hester retired in 1985 from Truck Stops of America. Preceded in death by husband, Charles J. Russell; son, Billy Joe, Charles and Gary Russell; daughter, Rosetta Marion. Survived by daughter, Janet McMahan and husband, Charles of Lenoir City; sons, Gordon Russell and wife, Triffine, Charles Dewayne (Chuck) Marion and wife, Donna all of Lenoir City; 9 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; sister, Mildred (Mickey) Allison of Lenoir City; brother, William McKinley (Mac) Cornett of Lenoir City; several nieces and nephews. Preston, James F. (Frank), age 80, of Lenoir City, passed away Monday, January 27, 2003 at the Farragut Health Care Center. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Sunland, CA. A veteran of World War II serving in the U. S. Army. Frank was a direct descendent of two First Families of Tennessee the Honorable George Preston Family and Abram Bogart Family. He was an electrician and a 55 year member of the I. B. E. W. Retired from Bendix Corporation of Glendale, CA. He was preceded in death by parents, Fred and Wilma Harvey Preston; mother of his children, Anna Mae Phibbs Preston; and wife, Dorothy Rae Preston. Survived by daughters, Shirley Scarborough and husband, Harold of Kingston, Frankie Rose, Phyllis Gordon and husband, Eddie; son, James E. Greene, William L. (Bill, Red), age 58, of Lenoir City, passed away suddenly, Monday, January 27, 2003. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War serving in the U. S. Navy and Naval Reserve. Bill was a lifelong member of Shady Grove Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by son, Richard A. Greene. Survived by wife, Barbara A. Kerr, Mary A., age 70, of Lenoir City, passed away Tuesday morning, January 28, 2003 at the Ft. Sanders Loudon Hospital. She was a member of Huntsville Church of God and attended Big Bethel Church of God in Christ. Preceded in death by parents, Ottis and Alice McMullen; husband, Joseph B. Kerr, Jr.; and brother, John McMullen. Survivors: children, Robert O. Stevens of Knoxville, Charles Ramsey of Lenoir City, Kathy Kerr of Loudon, Frank D. Kerr, Allen Scott Kerr, Elizabeth Ann Kerr and Jeremy Kerr all of Lenoir City; step-children, Jo Ann Jones of Ft. Lauderdale, Mildred K. Settlemire, age 91, of Lenoir City, passed away Tuesday, January 28, 2003 at the Ft. Sanders Loudon Medical Center. She was a member of Cumberland Presbyterian Church where she was a member of the Friendship Sunday School Class and the Church Women’s Club. Mildred was also a member of the Garden Club, and Home Demonstration Club. Preceded in death by husband, James W. Lauderdale; daughter, Peggy L. May; parents, William K. and Mary Scates Settlemire; sisters, Mary Eileen S. Jordon, Anna L. S. Grooms and Jessie Leona S. Fox; brothers, Marshall Settlemire, Archie R. Settlemire, G. Robin Settlemire, and Cecil B. Settlemire. Survived by grandson, Michael May and wife, Debra; great grandson, David May; sister, Alta Faye S. Leaman; former son-in-law, George W. May and wife, Carolyn all of Lenoir City; several nieces and nephews. Summers, Stephen Allen, age 56, of the Tellico Village Community, Loudon, passed away at his home, January 28, 2003 after a courageous fight with cancer. He was a member of the Tellico Village Community Church. He was a 1964 Graduate of North High School in Evansville, Ind. He had a BS degree in Production Management from the University of Evansville in 1968. He obtained his MS degree in Business Administration in 1974. He was an employee of the DaimlerChyrsler Corp. and from 1969 to 1974 he was a Management Trainee at the St. Louis Assembly Plant and also served as Quality Control Analyst/Engineer and Quality Control Supervisor. From 1974 to 1979, he was at the Detroit Lynch Road Assembly Plant as a Utility Superintendent, then as General Foreman of Hardware, Hardware Production Superintendent, Plant Electrical Co-ordinator and Quality Assurance Manager. From 1979 to 1997, he was in Detroit Centerline and Auburn Hills where he was the Reporting Systems and Development Specialist, then as Service Analysis and Report Manager, Service and Parts Planning and Systems Manager, Customer Satisfaction Planning and Systems Manager and he developed the Customer Satisfaction Survey (CSI) and Global Claims System. From 1997 to 2000, he was in Mexico City as a Warranty and Service Contracts Manager. He retired from DaimlerChrysler in 2000 after 32 years of service. Steve enjoyed all sports, especially golf and boating. Steve was a member of the ADA, Lambda Chi Alpha house manager and treasurer, Secretary for the American Business Association, a College Red Cross Representative, Chrysler Management Club Chairman, Bowling League President, Golf League President and a member of the DaimlerChrysler Retirees Club. Steve was preceded in death by his father, Allen Leroy Summers. He is survived by his wife, Vicki Marie (Long) Summers; sons, Scott Andrew Summers of Dallas, Tx. and Jeffrey Bruce Summers of Lake Orion, Mich; mother, Evelyn Jean (Grimmeissen) Summers; Brother, Michael David Summers of Evansville, Ind.; sister, Cynthia Louise Cooper of Evansville, Ind; 1 aunt; 4 cousins and 3 nephews. Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, February 1, 2003 at the Tellico Village Community Church with Rev. Marty Singley officiating. Keevert, Mildred Eleanor, age 80, of the Tellico Village Community formerly of Cleveland, Ohio passed away Wednesday, January 29, 2003 in Knoxville. She was a member of Central United Methodist Church, Kindred Spirits in Tellico Village and the Loudon D. A. R. Chapter. Mildred served in the U. S. Navy during W. W. II. In Ohio she was a member of the Antique Collectors Club, the Doll Collectors Club and the National Button Society. Preceded in death by husband, Lynn F. Keevert; and parents, Vernon and Ida Bickford. Survived by daughter, Marla Lynne Lammi and husband, Charles of Tellico Village Community, Loudon. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Friday with funeral services to follow at 7 p.m. at the Central United Methodist Church with Rev. Mark Gooden and Rev. Doug Crowder officiating. Wilbanks, Gene Ray, age 65, of Knoxville, passed away Thursday afternoon, January 30, 2003 at St. Mary's Hospice Center. Gene was a Christian. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. Gene was a retired painter. Survivors: wife, Carolyn Wilbanks; children, Terry, Tony, Gina, Oleta, James and Brian; several grandchildren and one great grandchild; sister, Irene Tuckness. Family and friends will gather at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Lake View Cemetery for graveside services with Rev. Timothy L.
