Margaret "Marge" Dixon Golson, age 82, years young, of Lenoir City, TN, departed this life on October 4, 2007, of complications from a hemorragic stroke at UT Hospital in Knoxville. born August 6, 1925, at home in Raines County, TX, she soon became surrogate mother to her brothers & sisters in a farming family of nine living children. After high school she went to California and helped the war effort by recycling whatever could be salvaged from old airplanes. Soon after returning to Dallas, TX, she had a blind date with a handsome, dark haired drummer in a band--Mel Golson. They married & she loved him beyond his death thirty-three years later. She devoted her life to her husband and rearing her girls. She enjoyed sewing clothing for her family until arthritis in her hands made it too painful. She was an excellent country cook, loved to work crossword puzzles in ink, had a passion for reading, and read & sent E-mails almost daily. An avid Christian and member of Calvary Baptist Church of Lenoir City, she loved her church and worked briefly in the church office a few years after the death of her husband. She was an enthusiastic member of the choir until arthritis prevented her standing for long lengths of time. She attended The Golden-Agers monthly luncheon, the Fellowship Sunday School Class, & WMU as her health permitted. She assisted in coordinating meals for bereaved families in her church until as recently as September 20th. She was independent, driving herself & friends to town for shopping. She held much sway in the lives of her children, encouraging them to be their best. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Melvin H. Golson; parents John Leonard and Lou Anna (Latimer) Dixon; brothers Roger and William "Bill" Dixon and sisters-baby Lou Ada & toddler Laura May Dixon. She is survived by: daughters & sons-in-law Mary (Glenn) Trentham of Gatlinburg, TN, and Annie (Ernie Burress) Golson of Clinton, TN; beloved granddaughters Kelay (David Rauen) Trentham of Seattle, WA, and Jessica Burress of Clinton, TN; stepchildren Len (Lois) Golson of Lexington, KY, and Jene (Nevil) Wyatt of Porter, TX; brothers Herman of Abilene, TX & John (Betty Ann) and Billy Wayne Dixon; sisters Wanda Freeman, Sue Dixon, and Ernestine (M.W./Dub) Randolph; and sister-in-law Betty Jo Dixon, all of the Dallas, TX, area along with a host of beloved nephews and nieces & their spouses and grandnieces & grandnephews. She will be missed by close friends: Elaine Tipton and daughters Jeannie & Judy; Itha & Robert Smith; Kay & Al Freels; Faye Rankin; and a multitude of dear friends too numerous to name. Jeffrey Paul Jenkins, age 53, of Loudon, passed away suddenly Wednesday, October 3, 2007. Jeff was of the Baptist faith. He was a graduate of Lenoir City High School. Jeff was employed with Wyeth Pharmaceuticals in Vonore. He was an avid motorcycle rider and was a member of HOG (Harley Owners Group). Jeff was preceded in death by parents, Willie Paul Jenkins and Nora Jenkins; brother, Ronnie Lynn Jenkins. He is survived by his sons, Michael Wooden of Lenoir City and Nicholas Hudson of Sweetwater; special aunt, Elizabeth Maynard of Lenoir City; uncle, Ernest Crisp of Nashville; half sister, Betty Joe of California; several, aunts, uncles and cousins. Colvin, Douglas (Doug), age 56, of Maryville passed away peacefully Friday, October 5, 2007 at his home. He was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force during the Vietnam era. He was preceded in death by his father, Aaron H. Colvin; mother, Marie Cassady and beloved stepfather, Bob Cassady. Survived by his wife of 32 years, Romona Colvin; brothers, Steve Colvin and wife, Rose of Powder Springs, GA, Johnny Colvin and wife, Anne of Dallas, GA, Richard Colvin and wife, Connie of Lenoir City; step brother, Bobby Cassady of Knoxville; father-in-law and mother-in-law, James and Pauline Clark of Kingston; several nieces and nephews. Kent, Greer Floyd - (Tech Sgt., USAF Ret.) -age 79 of Knoxville, passed away Saturday, October 6, 2007. Greer served his country with a career in the United States Air Force and was a veteran of the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. He was a member of the American Legion. Following his retirement from the military he began a new career starting Kent Cabinet Shop in Knoxville . He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Kent; parents, Floyd and Georgia Knight Kent; brothers: Harold, James, Billy and Bradley Kent; sisters: Daffa Mae Carpenter and Edna Faye Long. Clarence E. Johnson, age 88, of Knoxville, passed away peacefully on October 7, 2007, at Park West Hospital, as a result of Lymphoma. He was a member of Union Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Clarence was born in Ellijay, Georgia. He held a B.S. degree in Psychology from the University of Georgia at Gainesville. The majority of his career was at the Y-12 Plant as Safety Director, where he retired from Union Carbide, Y-12, in 1983. Clarence will always be remembered for his warm personality, jovial mannerisms and contagious smile. He leaves countless family and friends with fond memories of wonderful times together. Survived by: loving and devoted wife, Wanda Johnson; children and spouses, Kathy Johnson Turpin and Hugh of Knoxville, Steve Johnson and Donna of North Carolina; and Lori Johnson Morrow and Donnie of Knoxville; grandchildren, Jason White, Amanda Thomas, Ashley Eddins, and Christopher, Michael, and Matthew Johnson; brother, Hayden Johnson; nephew, Larry and wife, Rita Johnson; and niece, Barbara Tankersley all of Georgia. Trevor Thomas Norton, 90, of Lenoir City, passed away peacefully Friday morning, October 5, 2007, at the Hillcrest Nursing Home where he was under hospice care following a year of declining health and a little over a year after the death of his beloved wife, Betty. A native of Birmingham, England where he was born in 1917, he immigrated with his wife and two children, Glyn and Jill, to the United States in 1951. Trevor was the son of Amy and Edmund Norton. He attended the elite King Edward’s Grammar School founded in 1552 by King Edward VI and where he was a champion track star. He also excelled in the game of rugby which he played semi-professionally for nearly 5 years. An accomplished jazz pianist and organist, he studied and mastered the pipe organ under the tutelage of the distinguished organist, Arthur Brueton. During World War II, he was a decorated captain in the British Army and participated in the occupation of Schleswig-Holstein, Germany in the final days of the war. He went on to earn a university degree in industrial engineering at Birmingham University. After immigrating to the United States, he accepted a position in production planning and control with the Ford Motor Co. in Kansas City, Missouri. Shortly after, he was transferred to Detroit, Michigan to continue a successful career at the central headquarters of Ford Motor Company. His career took him back to Europe and to the Middle East. From this experience in Egypt and Iran, he grew to become an astute interpreter of Middle Eastern business culture. His career in the automotive industry culminated when he was appointed Vice President and Managing Director for the operations of American Motors in Costa Rica. For his entire life, Trevor Norton was a devout member and spiritual leader of his church, The Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (in more recent years called The Community of Christ). He gave years of service to various Rotary Clubs and was past President of the Tellico Lenoir City Rotary club. In more recent years, he was ardently committed to advancing the cause of adult literacy. He was president of the Loudon County Literacy Council for 8 years. During this time, Trevor brought vision and changes to the council and it's mission to enhance the Lenoir City-Loudon County Adult Education Program. The Tennessee Historical Commission presented the Sequoyah Literacy Award to Trevor, in recognition of his contributions to eradicate illiteracy in Loudon County. His vision led to the establishment of a scholarship program for GED recipients who are pursuing post-secondary education. In order to fund this program he conceived the Adult Spelling Bee, which is now in its 8th year under the sponsorship of the Lenoir City Rotary Club. His legacy will continue to change lives and families in his community. He leaves behind a son, Glyn P. Norton, and daughter-in-law, Victoria, of Albany, New York; a daughter, Jill Hoyles and son-in-law, Jeffrey, of Knoxville and Paducah, Kentucky; his grandchildren, Alexandra Haner (Mark), of Westfield, New Jersey; Leslie Norton of New York City; Erin Hoyles of Tampa, Florida; Trevor Hoyles (Michelle) of Portland, Oregon; his step-grandchildren, Vivian Garcia (Dennis) and Jose de Venecia III, both of Manila, Philippines; his step-grandchildren, Vivian Garcia (Dennis) and Jose de Venecia III, both of Manila, Philippines; and his great-grandchildren, Matthew Haner, Alison Haner, and Dylan Hoyles and step-great-grandchildren, Jaime de Venecia, David Garcia, Katharine Garcia, and Noah Garcia. Like his father and grandfather before him, Trevor remained an active and skillful gardener for most of his life. The gardens he helped his wife, Betty, to establish over the years at their homes in England and the United States are a legacy that will long outlive him and burnish his memory. His ashes, along with those of his wife, Betty, will be returned to the land of their birth where his children will scatter them in a grove of trees that he planted in the far corner of his garden at “Platsdown”, their beloved home in the Devonshire countryside. Carolyn Shamblin, age 65, of Lenoir City, passed away Sunday October 7, 2007 at Parkwest Medical Center. Carolyn was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by parents, Burl and Dollie Franks. Carolynis survived by her husband of 44 years, William Shamblin; son, William Ray Shamblin, Jr.; sister, Deana Lee of Enterprise, Alabama; brothers, Leon Franks and wife, Barbara of Knoxville and Leroy Franks of Fulton, Mississippi; several nieces and nephews. Norman Douglas (Doug) Adair, age 58, of Knoxville, formerly of Ft. Mitchell, KY, passed away suddenly Sunday, October 7, 2007. Doug was a graduate of the University of Kentucky and received his PE from the University of Tennessee. He was a Professional Engineer of Bechtel Corp from 1978 until his retirement in 2003. He was a veteran of the U S Army serving in Germany. He was a member of A.S.C.E. and the American Legion. Doug was an avid golfer, wood worker and boater. He was preceded in death by his father, Dr. Norman Adair. Margaret R. Woodle, age 87, of Clarkston, MI formerly of Knoxville, TN passed away Thursday, October 11, 2007. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence R. (Bud) Woodley. Loving Sister of Mildred (the late Ernest) Stutesman, Ruby (Raymond) Kramer, the late Fran (Donald) Brooks and the late E. R. Diggs. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Margaret retired from the Engineering Department of Pontiac Motors in 1978 after 37 years of service. Jean Schick Boice, age 96, a resident of Little Creek Nursing Home Knoxville went to be with the Lord Friday evening, October 12, 2007. Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. G.Newton Boice; son, The Rev. Dr. James Montgomery Boice. Jean is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Judy Cassanova-Rogers of California, Nancy and David Zimmerman, Elizabeth and Ross McKinley all of Knoxville; daughter-in-law, Linda Boice of Philadelphia, PA; grandchildren, Elizabeth, Heather and Jennifer, Anabelle, David, Robert, Wendy and Suzanne, Bob, Jean, Jimmy and Nancy; 12 great grandchildren. Hamilton, Robert P. (Bob), Sr., age 58, of Lenoir City, passed away Saturday, October 13, 2007 at the Fort Loudoun Medical Center. Bob was a retired deputy with the Loudon County Sheriff’s Department. He is preceded in death by his parents, Willard Paul and Evelyn Satterfield Hamilton and his brother, Danny Hamilton. Survived by his wife of 39 years, Linda Hamilton; daughters, Rebecca Millsaps and husband Tim of Lenoir City, Pam Ott and husband Lester of Knoxville, and son Robert P. Hamilton, Jr. of Loudon. 4 grandchildren, Alex T. Millsaps, Matthew Charles and Kayla Gail Ott and Morgan Taylor. Donald Wayne Herndon Sr., age 67, of the Tellico Village Community, Loudon, TN formerly of Springfield, TN passed away Friday, October 12, 2007 at his home. Don, a loving husband, father and grandfather, was a member of The First Baptist Church of Tellico Village. A 1963 graduate of Vanderbilt University, Don played football and was a member of the ROTC. He received his Masters of Public Administration in 1988 from Marshall University. After serving as an officer in the United States Army, Don worked as a Civil Engineer with the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers and retired after 35 years of service. He loved to travel and was an avid golfer and outdoorsman. Preceded in death by his parents, Theodore Harry and Gladys Marie Herndon; sister, Evelyn June Weinert. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Ona B. Herndon; sons, Donald W. Herndon Jr. and wife, Suzanne of Atlanta, GA, Michael C. Herndon of Washington, D.C.; grandchildren, William Tyson and Taylor Grace Herndon; brother, Charles B. Herndon and wife, Margaret of Greenbrier, TN; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Russell and Nancy Petty, Roy Petty and Barbara Walter, Joe and Peggy Greer, Philip and Carol Petty; along with many nieces and nephews. Cora Davis Bryson, age 94, of Unaka, NC, passed away Sunday morning, October 14, 2007 in Knoxville, TN. She was a longtime member of Unaka Baptist Church and her Sunday School Class. Cora enjoyed spending time at the Murphy Senior Citizen Center. She was preceded in death by her husband, Allen Bryson; children, Willa Mae Bryson Rose and Allen Bryson, Jr.; parents, Jimmy and Rosie Davis along with all of her brothers and sisters. Cora is survived by her children: Maxine Rose and husband, Wayne of Lenoir City, TN, Dee Bryson and wife, Loretta of Greensboro, NC, Howard Bryson of Unaka, NC; grandchildren: Ron and Mike Rose, Dan Bryson and Ann Marie Bryson Mullins, Flex Rose, Debbie Rose Roberts, Sharon Bryson Aiken, Stacy and Brooke Bryson; sveral great grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter as well as many nieces and nephews. Betty Jo Hall, age 74, of Farragut passed away Saturday evening, October 13, 2007 at her home after a courageous battle with cancer. Betty Jo was of the Baptist faith. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Betty Jo was preceded in death by her parents, Scott and Gertie Palmer; sister, Velma Webster; brothers, John, Tom, Frank and Ott Palmer. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Charles (C. J.) Pruitt, Ella Mae Packett, age 77, of Lenoir City, passed away Sunday morning, October 14, 2007. She was a member of Kingston Pike Baptist Church and was retired from Yale Security. Ella Mae was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Brenda J. Pruitt; parents, John and Dovie Packett; brothers and sisters: Bill Packett, Joe Paul Packett, Mary Lillie Armstrong and Ruth Taylor. Survived by her husband of 55 years, George R. Pruitt; son, George Randall Pruitt, daughter, Lisa Rolen; grandson, Joshua Ray Rolen and wife, Ashley; great grandson, Parker Rolen; sisters, Georgie Petty and Jeanette Arden; several nieces and nephews. Way, Richard David, age 60, of Lenoir City, passed away suddenly Saturday, October 13, 2007. He was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church, the Clifton Guider Sunday School Class and was active with the children’s church ministry. Richard was an employee of ETHRA Human Resources as a professional driver and loved serving the public. He loved to motorcycle with his wife and taking walks with his dog, Angel. Richard loved spending time with his daughters and grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents, Glenn Way and Irene Duke; grandmother, Mary Kirkley. Wilma Pauline Hart, age 70, of Kingston, passed away Sunday October 14, 2007 after a brief illness at Oak Ridge Methodist Medical Center. Pauline attended Scarbrough Methodist Church. She was retired from Martin Marietta after 25 years of service. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Gladys Hart. Pauline is survived by her sisters, Betty Burnette and husband, Dennis of Knoxville, Margaret Duff and husband, Jack of Lenoir City; nieces and nephew, Cheryl Bennett of Knoxville, Carolyn Smith and husband, Jack of Maryville, Jeff Duff and wife, Teresa of Kingston; great niece and great nephew, Brianna and Brody Duff of Kingston; special friend, Wilma Wright of Harriman. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Click Funeral Home. Family and friends will gather at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Kingston Memorial Gardens for graveside services with Rev. Glenn Potts officiating. Click Funeral Home, 109 Walnut Street, Lenoir City is serving the Hart family.

Robert Lee Ledbetter, age 91, of Lenoir City, passed away Sunday, October 14, 2007. Robert was a member of Central United Methodist Church. He was a retired accountant with the State of Tennessee. Robert was a veteran of W. W. II serving with the Army Air Corp. stationed in Iwo Jima. He was a member of the American Legion, AARP and an avid sports fan. He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Early Ledbetter; parents, Rufus L. and Florence Wilkerson Ledbetter; brothers and sisters, Ilie West, Vertal Ledbetter, Nettie Spraker, Hobart Ledbetter, Roy B. Ledbetter, Sue L. Phelps and Dorothy Potter. Survived by his sister, Florence (Pon) Walker of Lenoir City along with many nieces, nephews and caregiver and special friend, Ella Jones. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday with funeral services to follow at 2 p.m. in the Click Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. James Clayton and Rev. Doug Crowder officiating. Interment will follow in the Lenoir City Cemetery with military honors conferred by the Loudon County Veteran's Honor Guard. Nephews and great nephews will serve as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice. Click Funeral Home, 109 Walnut Street, Lenoir City is serving the Ledbetter family.

Margaret R. Woodley, age 87, of Clarkston, MI formerly of Knoxville, TN passed away Thursday, October 11, 2007. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence R. (Bud) Woodley. Loving Sister of Mildred (the late Ernest) Stutesman, Ruby (Raymond) Kramer, the late Fran (Donald) Brooks and the late E. R. Diggs. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Margaret retired from the Engineering Department of Pontiac Motors in 1978 after 37 years of service. The family will receive friends from 11 to 3 p.m. Monday, October 15th in the Click Funeral Chapel with services to follow at 3 p.m. with Rev. John Burleson officiating. Interment will follow in the Lenoir City Cemetery. Memorials may be made the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.
