Robert Lynn Yount, (U.S. Navy Retired), age 77, of Lenoir City, passed away early Thursday morning, December 6, 2007 at his home. He was born in Bonnie Blue, Virginia, grew up in Etowah, Tennessee and attended Etowah High School. Lynn was retired from the United States Navy, serving 28 years, including a tour of duty in Thailand with the U.S. Embassy. After his retirement from the military he worked as a realtor in Northern Virginia for three years. He enjoyed spending time at Blue Springs Marina in Ten Mile, Tennessee. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Evelyn Henson Yount; first wife, Loretta Olvey Yount; sister, Jo Anne Yount and brother, James Yount. Lynn is survived by his wife, Shirley Yount; son, Michael Yount and wife, Diane; daughters: Lora Keating, Sheila Caldwell, Jo Beach and husband Richard; step-son, Scott Quindry and wife Shari; grandchildren: Chris Caldwell and wife Diane, Tony Caldwell, Joy Jenkins and husband "T.J.", Jason Tolley, Matthew Yount an d wife, Stacie; Shawn, Richard and Darien Yount, Carrie and Brandon Quindry, Jessica Pearson; great- grandchildren, Shania Tolley, Jordon Cabral, Preston Quindry, Sierra and Brayden Pearson; brother, Harold Yount and wife, Kitty along with several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on December 9th, from 6 to 8 p.m. and funeral services will be held on December 10th, at 10 a.m. at Click Funeral Home in Lenoir City. Rev. Betsy Switzer, Rev. Ron Fisher and Rev. Cecil H. Carroll, Jr. will officiate. Interment will be in the Arlington National Cemetery with full military honors on February 11, 2008 at 11:00 a.m.. Francis O. Polhamus, age 95, of Lenoir City, formerly of Colton, CA, and Moses Lake, WA, passed away Thursday, December 6, 2007. Francis was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church. He was retired from Triangle Steel and Supply. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Miles Polhamus and Mary Louise Ochoa Polhamus; son, Richard Alvin Polhamus and brothers, Richard Stanley Polhamus and Frank Brislin. Francis is survived by his wife of 72 years, Elizabeth T. Polhamus; daughters, Patricia Straling and husband, George of Gardnerville, NV, Theresa Powell and husband, Brooks of Loudon, TN; son, Eugene Francis Polhamus and wife, Bonnie of Creston, WA; 10 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; brothers, James Miles Polhamus of Victorville, CA and Milton Thomas Polhamus and wife, Reta of Orange, CA; sister-in-law, Ann Marie Brislin of Downey, CA; several nieces and nephews. Mildred DeWitt Hicks, age 84, of Lenoir City, passed away Saturday, December 8, 2007. Mildred was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Lenoir City. She owned and operated Mildred's Dress Shop from 1962-1986. She belonged to the Order of Eastern Star Chapter 188 and the Lenoir City Pilot Club. Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Homer and Etta Webb DeWitt; sisters: Reba DeWitt Wilson and her husband, John, Edna Leota DeWitt Mashburn and husband, Raymond, Juanita DeWitt Dunlap and husband, Roy; brother, Hollis H. DeWitt and wife, Julia; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Earl Eugene Stinnett, Jefferson Hicks, Helen Hicks, James Arlin Baker. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, William Roscoe Hicks; sister, Arminda DeWitt Stinnett; sisters-in-laws and brothers-in-law: Joyce Billings Hicks, James Wesley Hicks, Mary Gladys Hicks Baker, Eva Mae Hicks Brakebill and her husband, James T., Thomas Edward Hicks and wife, Libby along with a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Thomas Edward Hann, age 66, of Lenoir City, formerly of DeLand, FL, passed away Saturday, December 8, 2007. Tom was born and raised in St. Paul, Minnesota and graduated from St. Paul Central High School. He was a member of the Lutheran Church. Tom was retired from J. C. Penney. His love was landscaping and he took extensive courses in that field. He was an avid reader, outdoorsman and a passionate boater and boat builder. He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Gloria Hartman Hann. Memorial services will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, December 13, in the Click Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Chris Harding officiating. Ethel Hurst Liford, age 95, of Greenback, passed away Monday, December 10, 2007 at Baptist Health Care Center. Ethel was a member of the Baptist Church for 61 years and joined Axley's Chapel United Methodist Church in 1991. She taught Sunday School for several years. Ethel was an avid bowler past the age of 85 and enjoyed various crafts and surrounding her home with flowers. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Liford; son, J. B. Liford; daughters, Dora Marie and Mary Lou Liford; great grandson, Michael Liford; parents, Bose and Manda Hurst; brother, Edward Hurst and son-in-law, John Bolinger. Price, Ellison Goble (Archie), born July 1, 1922 of Lenoir City, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 11, 2007 at the age of 85. He was a World War II Veteran and shipmate of the USS Quincy. Archie was a member of Covenant Ministries. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Gideon Price and Ida Goble Price; brother, Charles Graden Price. Survived by his wife, Mary I. Price; children, Bruce Price and wife, Pam, Terry Price and wife, Becky, Michael Price and wife, Charlotte, Gladys Thrasher and husband, Michael, Beth Stiles and husband, Greg, Sue Hazlewood and husband, Todd; 12 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; brother, Billy Price and wife, Janet of Indianapolis, Ind.; sister, Justine Andersen of Indianapolis, Ind.; several nieces and nephews. Jeanette M. Cieciwa, age 86, of Farragut, formerly of Michigan City, Indiana passed away, Monday, December 10, 2007. Jeanette was a member of St. John Neumann Catholic Church. She retired from Sears where she worked as a Credit Investigator for twenty years. Jeanette was a past president of St. Anthony Hospital Guild in Michigan City. She also volunteered at St. Mary’s Hospital in Knoxville. She was a past member of Newcomer’s Club and an active member of Welcome Wagon Club. Jeanette loved to cook and was known for her delicious pies. These past 4 years she dealt courageously with being on dialysis. She is preceded in death by husband, Alex Cieciwa; son, Gregory Cieciwa; parents, Joseph and Stella Kwiecien; sister, Josephine and brothers, Walter and Stanley. Survivors: daughter and son-in-law, Susan and David Suter; grandchildren, Rebecca Lott and Wesley Cieciwa. Carrie Lavona Davis, age 75, of Lenoir City, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 11, 2007 at her home. Carrie was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church. She was retired from Allied Chemical. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arvis B. Davis; daughters, Tammy Ann and Kathy Jan; parents, Robert and Edna Petty; sisters, Zella Mae Yearwood, Pauline Goforth, Ruth Bray and Irene Isbell. Carrie is survived by her children, Robert Dwight Davis of Lenoir City, Vickie Lynn Hartline of the home and Carolyn Faye Houston of Lenoir City; grandchildren, Misty Sigmon and husband, Mark and Carrie Dobberstein; great grandchildren, Mason Gaston, Emily Sigmon and Austin Sigmon; sisters, Margaret Smallen and Juanita Isbell of Lenoir City; several nieces and nephews; special great niece, Pam Arden. Okey H. Dunaway, age 84, of the Karns Community, Knoxville, passed away Wednesday, December 12, 2007. O. H. served with the U. S. Navy in World War II and retired after 36 years of service. He later worked as a Machinist Supervisor at Union Carbide Y-12 plant and retired after 35 years of service. O. H. was a member of the East Tennessee State Veteran Honor Guard for many years. He was an avid golfer. He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Susan (Sue) Burns Dunaway; daughters, Glenda and Beverly Dunaway; parents, Jim and Callie Dunaway; sisters, Gladys Anderson and Evelyn Emert; brothers, Orville and J. W. Dunaway. Charles Jackson Buchanan, age 86, of Lenoir City, passed away Wednesday, December 12, 2007. He was a member of First Baptist Church where he served as Deacon and Sunday School teacher. Jack was retired from Union Carbide Corp. He was a member of Avery Masonic Lodge #593 F & AM. Preceded in death by his parents, Emmanuel Jackson Buchanan and Bess Buchanan. Survived by his wife of 67 years, Frances Strader Buchanan; son and daughter-in-law, Jack and Linda Buchanan of Summerville, SC; grandson, Jack Buchanan Jr. and wife, Gretchen; great grandchildren, Ashton and Bryce Buchanan all of Mt. Robert S. DeWick Sr., age 66, of Knoxville, TN went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 12, 2007. He is the beloved husband of Carolyn C. DeWick; father of Robert S. DeWick, Jr.; brother of Ralph E. DeWick and is preceded in death by his sister, Elaine Moore. Other survivors: nephews, David DeWick, Ronald DeWick, and Mark Moore of Florida; niece, Sharon Moore of Texas; cousins, Mary E. Williams of Florida and James C. Williams of Michigan. Arthur Dane Spurrier Sr., age 83, of the Tellico Village Community in Loudon, passed away Wednesday morning, December 12, 2007. Art was born and raised in Boston, Massachusetts. He was a graduate of Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware, Ohio where he was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity. He served his country as a Staff Sgt. in the United States Army during World War II in the Philippines and with the Army of Occupation in Japan. He retired from the Eureka Company and moved to Tellico Village. Art took his retirement as an opportunity to give back to the community. He served as president of the Tellico Village Home Owners Association and on several committees with the Tellico Village Property Owners Association Art and his wife were instrumental in the formation of the Tellico Village Community Church and served the church in various positions. He was very active in the Loudon County Chamber of Commerce and as a member of the Tellico Lake Rotary Club, he was selected as Rotarian of the Year in 1996. He served as chairman with Loudon County Dive Rescue Team, fund raising chairman for the United Way/Tellico Village and was on the TASS Water Utility Board. In 1988, Art received the WBIR Volunteer Heart Award in recognition of his extensive volunteer accomplishments. He was very proud of his work with the Loudon County Literacy Council. Art loved to stay active and continued a three times a week workout. He was preceded in death by his parents, Percy and Jeannette Spurrier; brothers, Paul and Ralph Spurrier and his sister, Jeannette Williams. Art is survived by his wife of 59 years, Iris Hulse Spurrier; son, Arthur Dane Spurrier, Jr. and wife Karen of West Virginia; daughters, Ellen Matteson of Colorado, Kristin Leddie and husband, Kevin of Connecticut; grandchildren: Jonathon, Jeremy, Shannon, Elise, Renee, Ryan, Erin and Morgan; sisters, Elaine Pittman and Ruth Anne Gallinger both of Florida; brother, Bruce Spurrier of Wisconsin along with many nieces and nephews. Phillips, Brian Kevin, age 36 of Lenoir City, passed away Saturday, December 15, 2007. He was a member of Highland Park Baptist Church. Brian was employed by Aztec Underground. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ed and Thelma Phillips, Steve Stapp and George Williams. Survived by his mother and stepfather, Sue and Don Luttrell; father and stepmother, Mack and Cathy Phillips all of Lenoir City; grandmother, Lorene Stapp of Oak Ridge; stepbrothers and stepsisters, Jim Day of Franklin, Susan Oakes and husband, Kevin of Crossville, Tabatha Watts and husband, Bobby of Loudon, Lena Ward and husband, David, Leandra Cole and husband, Tim all of Lenoir City; several aunts, uncles and cousins. Price, Joel Leslie, age 46, of Lenoir City, passed away suddenly Friday morning, December 14, 2007. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Lenoir City and an employee of U. S. Concrete Co. Preceded in death by father-in-law, Dallas Duff. Survived by his wife, Tina Duff Price; children, Jamie Owens and husband, Jason, Cory Parkerson and Jade Price; grandchildren, Austin Owens and his parents, Jamie and Jason Owens and Dallas Parkerson and his parents, Cory Parkerson and Jessie Johnson; parents, Ruth Clabough; sisters, Linda, Doris, and Kelly; several nieces and nephews; mother-in-law, Darlene Duff. Kizer, James Bliss, age 93, of Lenoir City, went peacefully to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, December 14, 2007. He was born February 28, 1914 in Loudon Co. Bliss was a member of Central United Methodist Church for 80+ years. He was an avid golfer, teaching his son and grandson. Bliss retired from Charles H. Bacon Co. after 44 years of service where he worked as Purchasing Agent, Secretary and Treasurer. Preceded in death by his devoted wife, Jean Fine Kizer; parents, James and Effie Kizer; sisters, Lucille Guinn and Gladys Baker. He is survived by his son, Charles B. Kizer and wife, Gail Price Kizer; beloved grandchildren, Charles B. Kizer Jr. and wife, Kelly, Jama Kizer Cox and husband, Steve; great grandchildren, McKenzie and Colby Kizer and Christian Cox. Kavanagh, Melody Jayne Duff, age 34, of Lenoir City, passed away December 14, 2007. She was a member of the Good Shepherd United Methodist Church. Melody was a 1991 graduate of Lenoir City High School where she loved to sing in the chorus. She was presented at Teen Board in Knoxville. Melody received an Associate Degree from Pellissippi State Community College and was a former employee of the Loudon Co. Clerks Office. Preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Clarence and Helen Littleton; paternal grandparents, Boyd and Margaret Duff. Survived by her parents, Harold and Delores Littleton Duff; sister, Candace Parkerson Lowe and husband, Stephen of Lenoir City; brother, Lance Duff and wife, Brandy of Oak Ridge; nieces and nephews: Jordan Parkerson, Lauren Parkerson, Derek Lowe, Carter Duff, Erin Duff and Katherine Duff; aunts and uncles, Larry and Jean Duff, Patsy and Gene Hughes, Clarius Smith; several cousins; special friends. Gleneva Cagley Chambers, age 73, of Philadelphia, passed away Saturday evening, December 15, 2007 at her home. Gleneva was a member of Woodlawn Baptist Church. She retired from Levi Strauss after thirty years of service. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Beulah Cagley; sisters, Gladys Ratledge and Mary Hampton. Gleneva is survived by her husband of 32 years, Billy Chambers and her granddaughter, Leann Shell. Friends may call at their convenience at Click Funeral Home. Ruth Bozeman Clanton, of Lenoir City, was carried by the Angels to Heaven on Sunday, December 16, 2007. All pain is gone. Ruth was a beautiful strong and gracious lady. The greatest loves of her life were her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, she was proud of and devoted to them all, she treasured every gathering. Her favorite hymns were In the Garden and Lily of the Valley. Ruth was a lifelong member of Union Baptist Church in Knoxville and attended Calvary Baptist Church in Lenoir City. She was retired from Southern Business Forms. Ruth loved to crochet and to work find a word puzzles. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alec and Margaret Bozeman; brothers, Paul, James, John, George, Charlie and Frank Bozeman. Left to remember the good times are care givers, daughter and son-in-law, Caye and Albert Freels of Lenoir City; son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Tina Clanton of Jacksonville, FL; grandchildren, Jimmy Freels and wife, LeAnn of Clinton, Randy Freels and wife, Tonya of Lenoir City, Donna Clanton Anderson and husband, Jesse of Maryland, Jamie Clanton Garner and husband, Brad of Ashland, KY; great grandchildren, Hunter, Taylor, Wyatt, Corey and Chance Freels, Jude and Nathan Garner; sister, Margaret Boruff of Knoxville; many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday with funeral services to follow at 7 p.m. in the Click Funeral Home Chapel. Family and friends will gather at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Union Baptist Church Cemetery on Washington Pike in Knoxville for graveside services. Serving as pallbearers: Jimmy, Randy, Corey, Chance and Hunter Freels. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Fellowship Baptist Church, 4900 Harrison Road, Lenoir City, TN 37771. Click Funeral Home, 109 Walnut Street, Lenoir City is serving the Clanton family.
