Hartline, Agnes E., age 71, of Lenoir City, passed away Monday, February 6, 2006 at Park West Hospital. She was a member of First Baptist Church. Retired from Production Credit Association where she worked as secretary. Agnes was an avid gardner and Vol Fan. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Preceded in death by her husband, Oscar R. Hartline; parents, Jerry and Verla Evans. Roach, Shirley Sue, age 57, of Lenoir City, passed away Tuesday, February 7, 2006. She was of the Baptist Faith and a former employee of Time Saver Cleaners. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Kathy Jo Roach; parents, Jack and Irene Kilby; brothers, Jackie Kilby, Jay Will Kilby and Kenneth Paul Kilby and special cousin, Kathleen Vaughn. Survived by her husband of 36 years, Johnny Bill Roach; daughter, Peggy Fields of Lenoir City; sons, Timothy Wayne Kilby of Sweetwater, Johnny Wayne Roach, Jerry Lee Roach and Walter Jay Roach all of Lenoir City; grandchildren, Justin, Shannon, Desiree and Johnny Fields all of Lenoir City and Summer Dawn Kilby of Sweetwater; special nieces, Linda Jaques and Wanda Burger. Brown, Joyce J., age 66, of Lenoir City, passed away Tuesday, February 7, 2006 at her home. Joyce was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and a faithful friend to all who entered her life. She was a member of Pine Top Primitive Baptist Church. Joyce retired from T. V. A. and formerly worked with the Loudon Co. School System. She was preceded in death by her father, Fred Jenkins and mother, Mildred Jenkins. Survived by her husband of 48 years, William “Bill” Brown; children, Billy Brown and Kathy, Retha Stapp and Pete all of Lenoir City, Kenneth “Hawkeye” Brown and Beth of Loudon, Richard “Dicky” Brown and Connie, Chrystal McConkey and Travis of Lenoir City, Cherry LaRue of Lenoir City; grandchildren, Brandy, Kasey, Donovan, Kayla, Cody, James, CoRi, Blake, Cassie and Thomas; brother, Tommy Jenkins and wife, Ludy of Smyrna, TN; numerous nieces and nephews; special friends, Linda Rodgers, Darrell and Paula Liles, Penny and Terry Brown. Maluga, Robert Andrew III - age 27 of Knoxville, TN, a former resident of the Tellico Village Community, Loudon, TN, passed away February 6, 2006. He was a graduate of Loudon High School Class of 1997. Preceded in death by grandfather, Robert Andrew Maluga Sr. and uncle, Daniel John Maluga. Survived by his mother, Barbara Jean Eachus; father, Robert Andrew Maluga Jr.; sister, Stephanie Danielle Smith and husband, Zac; brothers, Brian Eachus, Frank Eachus, Caleb Eachus and Ben Eachus; grandparents, Nancy L. Maluga and Morry Smith of Tellico Village Community, Loudon, TN; great grandmother, Henrietta Ulm; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Virginia Peterman Gibson, age 80, of Hampton, VA, passed away Wednesday afternoon, February 8, 2006 at NHC Cavett Hill in Farragut, TN after a brief illness. Virginia was a member of West Hampton Baptist Church for over 50 years. She taught Sunday School for over 35 years and was a member of the Senior Adult Choir for many years. She was retired from NASA at Langley Field in 1983 after 32 years of service. Virginia was preceded in death by her husband William James Gibson Jr.; parents, Claude Peterman and Faye O'Hare Peterman Nunn; brother, Robert Peterman. Survivors: son and daughter-in-law, James Daniel and Kathy Gibson; granddaughter, Lara Elizabeth Gibson all of Farragut, TN; sister, Eva Rhea of Kingston, MO; sister-in-law, Jean Peterman of Collins, MO; brother-in-law, Wadus Gibson and wife, Carrie; sister-in-law, Juanita Gibson all of Newport News, VA; Carlene Hardee of Laurinburg, NC; several nieces and nephews. Brown, Marsha Ann Carmack, age 52, of Sweetwater, passed away suddenly Wednesday, February 8, 2006. She attended the Church of God. Preceded in death by her father, Rev. Stewart, James E. - of Loudon, passed away Wednesday, February 8, 2006. Jim was born December 4, 1933 in Lawrence Co., TN. He attended M. T. S. U. in Murfreesboro from 1965 - 1967 and received a medical retirement from the U. S. A. F. in April of 1968. Jim was ordained a Deacon at Hillhurst Baptist Church in Nashville. He has been a member of First Baptist Church, Lenoir City since 1971 where he was formerly a member of the Littlefield Sunday School Class and presently a member of the Springer Sunday School Class. He served Sunday School Director Medium of Senoir Adults at First Baptist during Dr. Charles Redmond’s Pastorate. Preceded in death by his mother, Velma Jewel Stewart and father, Ira Amos Stewart. Jim is survived by wife of 54 years, Ann Moore Stewart; daughter, Sarah Stewart Ballard of Nashville; sons, James Edward Stewart II and wife, Ruth Stewart of Nashville, Samuel Amos Stewart and wife, Kelli Wolf Stewart of Michigan; grandson, Lee Ballard of Nashville; granddaughter, Grace June Stewart of Nashville. Osborne, Geraldine Blissitt - age 86, of Lenoir City, passed away at 6:10 p.m. on Thursday, February 9, 2006 surrounded by her family. She was born June 27, 1919, to John and Essie Blissitt, and grew up in Cedartown, Georgia. She received her teaching certificate from West Georgia College, attended the University of Georgia, and taught school in Rockmart, Georgia. During World War II, she signed on with the United States Weather Bureau, and was the first female instrument reader ever assigned to the U. S. Naval Base at Key West, Florida. There she met, fell in love with, and married her husband of 46 years, Edward Osborne. In 1945, they returned to Knoxville, where Ed had attended and played football for the University of Tennessee. Gerry received her B.S. in Education from the University of Tennessee in 1951, and began teaching at Nichols Elementary in Lenoir City, where she taught until 1984. She supported from the sidelines as Ed coached football and girls’ basketball at Central High School, Stair Tech, and Lenoir City High School, where he later served as principal. Gerry was an active member of Central United Methodist Church, Lenoir City, and was a longtime teacher and pianist of the Keystone Sunday School Class. In her retirement years she enjoyed the “Thursday night Quilters” and served as President of the Loudon County Retired Teachers’ Association. Gerry’s faith, independence and caring spirit will live on in her family and friends long after her death. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Edward Osborne; sister, Ruby Montaine and brother, Dewitt Blissitt. Survived by her daughter, Nancy Staub and husband Jim of Sevierville; granddaughters, Amy Morehous and husband David of Knoxville, and Elizabeth McKeever and husband Stewart of Charleston, SC; grandson, James Staub of Nashville; great-granddaughter, Katherine Morehous; sisters-in-law, Frances Ray of Lenoir City, Martha Kidd and husband George of Aiken, SC and Betty Jenkins of Lenoir City; eight nieces; four nephews; and seventeen great-nieces and nephews. Martin, James Edward, age 71, of Kingston, passed away suddenly on Thursday, February 9, 2006 at Parkwest Medical Center. He was a member of Poplar Springs Primitive Baptist Church and served in the U.S. Army as a Sgt. for 16 years in Germany and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He was preceded in death by his father, Claude A. Martin; mother, Louise Isham; brothers, Darrel and Regnald Martin; sister, Hazel Farr. He is survived by his wife, Louise Brown Martin; children, Jimmy and Keith and Debbie Martin; step-children, Linda Treadway, Betty Katherine Wilson, Ronnie and Donnie Marney and Becky Webb; brother, Glen Martin; sister, June Hamby; several grandchildren, step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Hall, Homer F., age 76, of Riceville, formerly of Lenoir City, passed away Tuesday, February 7, 2006. He was a member of Short Creek Baptist Church. Retired from Wampler’s Farm Sausage. Homer was a longtime fox hunter and member of the Fox Hunters Club. He loved wagon training. He was preceded in death by the mother of his children, Nell Hall; son Bobby Hall; granddaughter, Tiffany Merritt; parents, Emmitt and Algie Hall; eight brothers and sisters. Thornton, Estel, age 79, of Lenoir City, passed away Sunday, February 12, 2006, at the Parkwest Medical Center. He was a member of the United Methodist Church and was retired from Martin-Marietta. Estel served in the U.S. Army during W.W.II and the Korean Conflict. He was a Past Master and member of the Chota Masonic Lodge and was a member of the Scottish Rite and the Shriners were he served as Past Captain of the Provost Guard. He was an Avid bowler. He was preceded in death by his parents, Allen and Eva Fain Thornton; brothers, Floyd, Rex, Glen and R. B. Thornton; sisters, Ina Thornton, AllaVee Sims, Mary Lethco and Gladys Thornton. Hazel Pauline Palmer Moore, age 96, of Lenoir City, passed away Saturday evening, February 11, 2006, at the Baptist Health Care Center. She was a longtime member of New Providence Church and a retired cook. Preceded in death by her husband Ed Moore; sons Bill and Jack Moore; parents Holbert and Idella Palmer; brothers: Henry, Cecil, and Joe Palmer; sisters: Myrtle Palmer, Thelma Phillips, Claire Bivens and Ruby Burnam; daughter-in-law, Betty Lester Moore. Hazel is survived by her son Roger Moore and wife Linda of Lenoir City; grandchildren: Jean Rankin and Don Rankin, Billy Ed Moore and Misty Moore; several nieces and nephews. Akins, Virgil W., age 83, of Philadelphia, passed away Saturday, February 11, 2006, at his home. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the United States Army. Virgil retired from Friendsville Rock Quarry. Preceded in death by his parents Charles and Lydie Akins; sisters: Inez Breeden, Pauline Selvage and Hazel Akins. Survived by his children: Edith Parks and husband Jackie of Lenoir City, Charlie Akins of Philadelphia, Margaret Ledford of Sweetwater, Linda Webb of Sweetwater and Jim Akins of Lenoir City; former wife Ruth Akins of Sweetwater; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; brothers: John, Raymond, Pedro and Elmer Akins; sister, Arizona Selvage; many nieces and nephews. Shearer, Daniel T. - of Lenoir City, departed this world on Wednesday morning, February 15, 2006. He was born in Hermanie, Pennsylvania on January 11, 1917. Mr. Shearer was a surviving member of the 101st Airborne Division in W. W. II. In Europe, he participated in five major battles, Normandy, Holland, Battle of The Bulge, Southern France and Southern Germany. Mr. Shearer was highly decorated having received the Combat Infantryman Badge, two stars on his Parachute Jump Wings for two combat jumps, one in Normandy and one in Holland. His unit was awarded the Presidential Unit Citation twice. The Foire de Guerre from France, The Fourrageres of Belgium, and the Lanyard of Holland; He also received, a Silver Star, Bronze Star and three Purple Hearts. Mr. Shearer also served in the 82nd Airborne during the Korean War. He was made Company Commander of the 82nd shortly after arriving there. After leaving the Army in 1953, he served in executive positions in three Independent Telephone Companies in Kentucky, Tennessee, Florida and Georgia. He retired in 1977, taking up residence in the Lenoir City, Loudon area. Survived by his wife, Helen Masters Shearer; children, Margaret Shearer Ricciardi and husband, Gary, Thomas P. Shearer, Christopher Shearer and wife, Lisa Hunt Shearer; 6 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 12 to 1 p.m. Saturday at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Lenoir City. A funeral mass will follow at 1 p.m. with Father David Boettner officiating. Carol, Zenon S. (Zeke), age 83, of the Tellico Village Community, Loudon, passed away Monday February 13, 2006 at the Loudon Healthcare. He was a member of the Tellico Village Community Church and retired from ABB Electrical Corporation as a Manager and an engineer. He was veteran of W.W. II serving in the U. S. Navy. Zeke was an avid golfer. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Eileen Carol; son Jim Carol and wife Cynthia of Laguna Niguel, Calif.; daughter, Kate Carol Dunne and husband Gary of Iowa City, Iowa; 3 grandchildren, Brandon, Taylor and Alyssa Carol of Laguna Niguel, Calif.; brother-in-law, Charles Yeager and wife Lois of Florida. A Memorial Service will be held 1:30 p.m. Sunday, February 19, 2006 at the Tellico Village Community Church with Rev. Margaret Manning officiating. Freshour, Herbert Thomas, age 55, of Lenoir City. Herb was a member of Grace Baptist Church of Lenoir City. He had served as a firemen with the Oak Ridge City Fire Department for 28 years. Preceded in death by his father, Robert Freshour. Survived by his wife, Dana Sexton Freshour; children, Morgan Freshour of the home, Matthew Freshour and wife, Niki, Beth Freshour and Megan Hawkins all of Lenoir City; grandchildren, Denim, Desiree’ and Logan; mother, Mary Freshour of Lenoir City; brothers, Ken Freshour and wife, Chris of Georgia; sisters, Debbie White and husband, John of Lenoir City, Jan Brown and husband, Terry of Clarksville; several nieces and nephews. Lynn Lusher Smith, age 68, of Knoxville, passed away Wednesday afternoon, February 15, 2006 at Baptist West Hospital following complications due to cancer. Lynn was born in Wichita Falls, TX. She spent the majority of her life in Texas and the last 10 years of her life in Tennessee. She was a devoted member of Cokesbury United Methodist Church. Lynn was retired from Baptist Hospital of East Tennessee and during her retirement volunteered her time at the Salvation Army, the Interfaith Health Clinic and the United Way of Greater Knoxville. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Howard Wayne Willingham and Levan Smith; her father, Marvin William Hord and her brother, Robert Hord. She is survived by: mother, Ruth Lusher of Knoxville; son, Stephen Willingham of Farragut; daughters, Jackie Mayo and husband, James Mayo of Farragut, and Christina Willingham of Austin, TX; step children, Sharon McWilliams and husband Keith, Kay Starkey and husband Chuck, Alan Smith and wife Becky; grandchildren, Rachel Fletcher, Julie Mayo, Trent Mayo and Lisa Nichols; step grandchildren, Jonathan and Shelby McWilliams, Heather and Kara Starkey; several great grandchildren; special cousin, Suzie Patton. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Click Funeral Home Farragut Chapel with funeral services to follow at 2 p.m. with Rev. Rebekah Fetzer and Carol Hollar officiating. Interment will follow in the Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Interfaith Health Clinic, 315 Gill Avenue, Knoxville, TN 37917.
