Mrs. Willie Mae Nickens, age 72, passed on 11/23/01. Viewing today at Mt. Gilliam B.C. on 1029 Raymond and Funeral, 12:00 noon today at the church and burial in New Park cemetery, R.S. Lewis & Sons Funeral Home has charge, 374 Vance Ave.

Mrs. Dorothy Ann Harrold, passed on Thursday, November 22, 2001 in Riverdale, GA after a lengthy battle with Pulmonary Sarcodosis. Preceded in death by father, Rev. S.M. Reed and Mother, Reverend Martha V. Reed. Survived by children, Sharon (Rev. Latham) Mills and Wayne Harrold; siblings, Lucille (Robert) Willis of Memphis, TN, Charles Martin, and Loretta (Rev. E. Holmes) Matthews; 4 grandchildren, several other relatives and friends. The Service of Committal & Entombment will be at 1:00PM. today, Tuesday, November 27th in the M. L. King Section of New Park cemetery Mausoleum, 4536 Horn Lake Rd., Memphis, TN. Service by SCALES FUNERAL HOME, INC., 1412 Jefferson St. Nashville, TN 615-329-9880

Mrs. Mamie Lester, age 86, passed on 11/21/01. Viewing for Mrs. Lester Wednesday, 6:00-8:00 PM. at R.S. Lewis Funeral Chapel and Thursday at New Salem B.C. 955 S. Fourth St; Homegoing Service 12:00 noon, Thursday at New Salem B.C. and Burial in New Park cemetery. R. S. Lewis & Sons Funeral Home has charge. 374 Vance Ave.

Willard L. Woods, 83, a Lemoyne College graduate died in Los Angeles, January 27, 2002.
Willard served as 1st Lieutenant during World War II as a Fighter Pilot receiving the Distinguish Flying Cross for his bravery. He was a member of the all black Tuskegee Airmen. After the war, Willard graduated from law school and practiced law until his retirement in 1994. In 1954, Willard and Eloise Lewis were married in Los Angeles. They were blessed with a son, Willard, Jr. The marriage dissolved in 1991.
Survivors include his son, Willard, Jr.; his wife, Cheryl; a brother, Dr. Robert Woods; a sister, Beatrice Jackson; grandchildren, Rachael and Kevin Woods; nieces and nephews.
Donations may be made to LeMoyne-Owen College.

KENNETH JAMES. He was born in Chicago, Il, January 21, 1920. Spent his childhood in Tunisia, and later Madrid, Spain. He attended high school at St. Georges at Weybridge in England, medical school in Madrid and was on call for the American and British Hospitals in the same. In 1951 he moved with his family to Chicago, interning at St. Lukes Hospital. Later he studied psychiatry at the Menninger Clinic in Topeka, Kansas where he became a member of the staff. In 1961 he opened the outpatient department at the Tennessee Psychiatric Hospital and Institute in Memphis, Tennessee. He retired from T.P.H.&I.; in 1975. Upon retiring from private practice he moved to Pensacola, where he could indulge in his love of the sea.
He is survived by his daughter:Margaret M (Nena) Sullivan of Woodland Hills, CA. and his son: John M. Munden of Germantown, TN.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to any non-profit organization providing services to Native Americans.

Lena Irene Stewart Barcroft, 84, Homemaker, Teacher, and Court House Administration Clerk in charge of Veterans, died Thursday, January 31, 2002, at Methodist Healthcare-Brownsville.
Mrs. Barcroft was a member of Woodland Baptist Church, where she was a Sunday School Teacher. She attended Union University.
Funeral service will be Saturday, February 2nd, 2PM, at Woodland Baptist Church. Burial at Woodland cemetery.
Survivors include husband, Hubert Barcroft, Sr., of Brownsville, TN; daughters, Sophie Minton of Bowling Green, KY and Ilene Barcroft of Brownsville; son, Hubert Barcroft, Jr. of Brownsville; sisters, Kathryn Highfill of Jackson, TN and Grace Mulligan of Brownsville, TN; brothers, Dr. David Earl Stewart and Ed Stewart, both of Brownsville; 2 grandchildren, Leslie Weiler and Marti Barcroft; and nine nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by sister, Aileen Stewart and brother, Everette Stewart.
Brownville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

MRS. OLA MAE JOHNSON, age 92, of Memphis, TN passed on Jan. 26, 2002 at her home. Mrs. Johnson was a member of Greenwood C.M.E. Church. Mrs. Johnson is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Elaine J. Campbell of Memphis, and one son, Mr. Edward S. Johnson of Fairfield, CA.
Visitation Fri. 4-6 p.m. at R.S. Lewis & Sons Funeral Home & Sat. 10-11:55 a.m. at Greenwood C.M.E. Church, 3311 Kimball Ave. Funeral 12 noon. Burial in Elmwood cemetery. R.S. Lewis & Sons Funeral Home Has Charge, 374 Vance, 901-526-3264

MARIAN C. PERRY, 83, of Millington, passed away, January 31, 2002 at Methodist Hospital North. Mrs. Perry, a homemaker, was a charter member of Christ Methodist Church. Services will be 11:00 Monday, at Memorial Park Funeral Home with interment in Memorial Park cemetery. She was preceded in death by her husband Woodrow W. Perry and her son Stanley Perry. She leaves her sister Susan Scott of West Palm Beach, FL, twenty nieces and nephews and Roy and Diane Jackson of Millington who loved and cared for her.
The family requests that any memorials be sent to the Alzheimers Day Services of Memphis.

GLENN E. SLOCUM, Age 72, resident of Edgemont, Arkansas, for the past 20 years, went to live with the Lord on January 31, 2002, after a battle with cancer. Glenn was formerly of Memphis, Tennessee, where he retired after 26 years with the Memphis Fire Department. He was a 32nd Degree Mason, a Shriner, and a lifelong Methodist. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Heber Springs and also frequently attended the Quitman United Methodist Church. Glenn was a veteran of The Korean War and was born near Wynne, in Cross County, Arkansas.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Julia Jeffers Slocum; a daughter and son-in-law, Glenna Dell Slocum Olmsted and Tim Olmsted of Nova Scotia, Canada; a son and daughter-in-law, Fred and Terry Slocum of Quitman, AR.; and three grandchildren. Glenn was the proud grandfather of Scott Slocum of Atlanta, Georgia, Christy Slocum of Atlanta, Georgia, and C.T. Clark of Steamboat Springs, Colorado. He was preceded in death by his father, Fred E. Slocum and his mother, Madlin Slocum Dearington. Glenn was instrumental in the formation of The Sequoyah Angus Ranch in Quitman, Arkansas.
Services will be held at 2:00 PM, on Sunday, February 3rd, at the First United Methodist Church of Heber Springs with the Rev. John Miles, Jr. and Rev. Jackie Wilson officiating. Interment will follow at the Woodland Memorial Park in Edgemont, Arkansas. Visitation will be at the Olmstead Funeral Home in Heber Springs, 5:00 to 7:00 pm, on Saturday, February 2nd. The family respectfully requests memorials be sent to either The First United Methodist Church of Heber Springs, The Quitman United Methodist Church, The Hospice of Cleburne Couny, The Greers Ferry Ambulance Service, or The Heart Of The Lakes Volunteers.

James K. "Kenny" Krag, passed away Jan. 28, 2002, at Baptist East Hospital. He was a graduate of Whitehaven High School and a member of Wesleyan Hills United Methodist Church. He loved cooking, gardening, fishing, but most of all he loved friends and family. He is survived by his wife, Leah Krag, daughters, Tamara, (Nathan) Rivera and children Nicole, Fuller, & Barrett, daughter, Kenly, (Darren) Trigonoplos and son Blaise; son Rip (Melissa) Noblin and children, Carter, Isabel, Ariel, Buddy & Candice; son Mitchel (Camille) Noblin and children Brett & Brittany. Sister, Jan Sternberger; Nephews Terry Jo Riddick, Mike Bozof and Danny Bozof.
Services will be held Thursday, Jan. 31, 2002, 1:30 P.M., Wesleyan Hills United Methodist Church with burial at Memorial Park cemetery, Memorial Park Funeral Home has charge. Family request any memorial to be sent to Wing's Foundation at West Clinic, or Wesleyan Hills United Methodist Church or the charity of the donors' choice. Never will the sweet smile of Kenny Krag be forgotten.

Mrs. Dora Buford "Rosie" Alexander, age 86, of Memphis, formerly of Rolling Fork, MS., passed away Sunday, January 27, 2002. Mrs. Alexander was born in Bentonia, MS. She had been a resident of Rolling Fork, MS., since 1941, but lived in Memphis the past two years. She was a Registered Nurse in the Rolling Fork, MS., area. She was a member of the Rolling Fork United Methodist Church.
Funeral service will be Wednesday, January 30, 2002, 11AM, at Rolling Fork United Methodist Church, Rolling Fork, MS., with ministers Rev. Chuck Alford and Rev. Reese Kyzar officiating.
Mrs. Alexander leaves 2 daughters, Virna Ruth Doyle and Lois Elaine Lambert, both of Memphis. She was preceded in death by her husband, I.G. Alexander.
Memorials may be made to the Rolling Fork United Methodist Church.

SANDRA FRANKLIN WYATT, 43 of Milwaukee, Wisc. formerly of Mphs., Tn., died Fri. at St. Mary's Hospice. Leon Williamson Funeral Home has charge. Services will be Wed. at 12 noon with burial in Milwaukee Memorial Park. Ms. Wyatt leaves her parents, Rev. and Mrs. Ira Franklin of Mphs., Tn., two daughters, Tamiko Holloman and Zinyia Baralatei, one son Robert Wyatt of Milw., seven sisters, Pauline Thompson of St. Louis, Mo., Beverly Brown, Dweice Brookins, Shirley McNary, Delois Taylor, Wilma Brewer and Vickie Harris, all of Mphs., three brothers, Willie Roy Milan and Kenneth Franklin of Milw. and Minister William Onidas of Mphs.

WAYNE T. HURST, 82, died Wednesday. A Navy Veteran, he was born in Bethel Springs, TN, graduate of Whitehaven High School. He was a paper company executive in Las Vegas and Hawaii. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Martha (Riley); daughters, Laura Dela and Pam McAuley of California; and granddaughters, Melissa and Jennifer Dela. Also surviving are sisters, Faye Hurst Stain and Sue Nell Graves of Memphis, brothers, Sparks Hurst of Memphis, and Jack Hurst of Murfreesboro. Burial was in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial cemetery, Las Vegas. Family requests gifts in his honor to Nathan Adelson Hospice, 4141 S. Swenson St. Las Vegas NV 89119-6718.

MRS. NORMA WILLIAMS SULLIVAN, 100, of Hattiesburg, MS, died January 25, 2002 at Conva Rest Nursing Home. Services 2 pm Tuesday at Main St. United Methodist Church. Interment Roseland Park cemetery. Hulett-Winstead Funeral Home has charge. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Camillus Caruthers Sullivan, Sr. She leaves to mourn 1 son, Garland W. Sullivan, Hattiesburg, MS., 6 Grandchildren including Garland William Sullivan, II and wife Cheryl Oswald Sullivan, 10 Great-grandchildren including Garland Williams Sullivan, III & Charles Dudley Sullivan, all from Memphis, TN. Dr. Gary B. Mills, age 57, of Northport, died January 25, 2002, at DCH Regional Medical Hospital. A memorial service and visitation will be held for 6:00 - 8 pm. Monday, Heritage Chapel. Burial service is scheduled for Saturday, February 2, 2002 in Shaw, Mississippi.
A native of Marshall, Texas, Dr. Mills was born 10 September 1944. He was preceded in death by his father Harold Garland Mills and brother Kevin Patrick Mills. His mother Hazel Rachal Mills currently resides in Biloxi, Mississippi. Among survivors are his former wife of many years, Elizabeth Shown Mills of Tuscaloosa, Alabama; son Clayton Bernard Mills and wife Carrie Starner Mills of Nashville, Tennessee, daughter Donna Rachal Lennon and husband John Robert Lennon III of Nashville, Tennessee; son Daniel Garland Mills of Indianapolis, Indiana; and grandchildren Phillip Daniel Mills, Garrett Sean Mills, Elizabeth Eldorado Lennon, and Ruth Brossette Lennon. Other loving survivors include three brothers, Richard Hugh Mills of Odessa, Florida, Ronald Garland Mills of Benoit, Mississippi; Dr. Timothy Harold Mills of Charleston, Illinois; Dr. Regina Mills Pavlov of Biloxi, Mississippi, and Ramona Mills Adams of Rosedale, Mississippi.
A well-known historian and author, Dr. Mills has been a professor of history at the University of Alabama for a quarter century, was a longtime associate editor of the National Genealogical Society Quarterly, and a devoted member and past commander of the Sons of Confederate Veterans.
