POLENA ATKINS BELL, 103, of Memphis, homemaker, died Monday at Saint Francis Nursing Home. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Memphis Memory Gardens. Memphis Funeral Home Poplar Chapel has charge. She was a member of Independent Presbyterian Church, a former chaplain of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 74 and was honored for her contributions to the National Hardwood Lumber Inspection School. Mrs. Bell, the widow of Robert Lee Bell, leaves a son, John Reid Bell of Memphis, two grandsons and six great-grandchildren. The family requests that memorials be sent to Independent Presbyterian Church, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the charity of the donor's choice.

CHARLES BUCK BLACKBURN, 76, of Haddonfield, N.J., formerly of Memphis, president and general manager of HUSCO International, died Nov. 4 at his home. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Christ the King Church in Haddonfield. Hinski-Tomlinson Funeral Home in Haddonfield has charge. Mr. Blackburn, the husband of Sara Doyle Blackburn, also leaves two daughters, Lisa Blackburn of Wauwatosa, Wis., and Sara Kirby Schulberg of Edina, Minn.; two sons, Charles B. Blackburn of Overland Park, Kansas and Robert A. Blackburn of New Providence, N.J., and six grandchildren. The family requests that memorials be sent to Interfaith Caregivers in Haddonfield.

MILTON BLACKMAN, 71, of Memphis, cab driver for Metro Cab Co., died Monday at Delta Medical Center. R. S. Lewis & Sons Funeral Home has charge. He was a member of Chapel Baptist Church. He leaves four daughters, Pernilla Pitman and Felicia Blackman, both of Memphis, and Tracey Blackman and Betty B. Johnson, both of Kansas City, Mo.; two sons, Leonard Blackman of Kansas City, Mo., and Antonio Buford of Milwaukee; a stepdaughter, Khadijha Black man; two stepsons, Larry Wilson and Terry Cobb, and three sisters, Pernilla B. Pitman, Eddie L. Blackman and Lillie Faye Gilliam, all of Memphis, 16 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

DOROTHY E. BURNS, 81, of Memphis, homemaker, died Thursday at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Memphis. Services will be at noon Thursday at Riverside Missionary Baptist Church, where she was a member, with burial in New Park. Harrison's Funeral Home Orange Mound Chapel has charge. She was a member of the Benevolent Club of Walker Homes. Mrs. Burns, the widow of Samuel H. Burns, leaves four daughters, Dorothy Smith, Joyce Williams and Carolyn Dickinson, all of Memphis, and Sharnetta Strick land of Grand Rapids, Mich.; two sons, Samuel H. Burns Jr. and Carl Burns, and a sister, Louise Stewart, all of Memphis; two brothers, Henry Lee Gray and Christopher Gray, both of Woodstock, 13 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.

VERNON CAHILL, 69, of Memphis, retired truck driver for Sears, died Friday at Methodist Healthcare-University Hospital. Services will be at 2 p.m. today at J. O. Patterson Mortuary with burial in Mt. He leaves four sisters, Mary Tillett, Gladys Cahill, Carolyn Urecan and Margie Thomas, and a caretaker, Ira Henderson Jr., all of Memphis.
