Funeral services for Mr. Herman E. Jean, age 89, of McDeal Road, Fayetteville, who died Tuesday, March 4, 2003 at his residence, will be held Friday, March 7, 2003 at 1:30 P.M. in the chapel of the Gallant Funeral Home with Dr. Ricky Craft and Rev. Dewey Craft officiating. Burial will follow in Macedonia Cemetery. Mr. Jean was a native of Lincoln County, son of the late Riley Jean and the late Frances Marie Askins Jean. He was a farmer and a member of Kirkland Baptist Church. He served 38 months with the 45th Division Artillery Infantry of the U.S. Army in France, Italy, Sicily and Germany. He was caught in a trap at Salerno, Italy and wounded during the invasion at Anzio Beach. He received a Bronze Star for the Sicilian Campaign and a Bronze Star for the Italian Campaign along with a Good Conduct Medal and the American Defense Medal. He was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel Christine Jean on November 18, 1997. He is survived by 2 sons: Wayne Jean & J.D. Jean both of Fayetteville; 3 grandchildren: Billy Jean, Jay Jean, Crissy LaFler; 2 great grandchildren: Kaylee Summer Jean, Tristan Rhett Lafler; 1 brother: J.R. She was preceded in death by her husband: Bill Taylor in 1975; 3 brothers: Leon Sonny Wells, J.D. Wells, Thomas Wells; 4 sisters: Doris Mullins, Willene Mitchell, Wynell Warren and Laverne Wells. Survivors include 3 daughters: Lavern Parks of Fayetteville, Patricia & Johnny Tucker of Portland, TN, Joyce Law of Alabama; 1 sister: Eula Sawyers of Fayetteville; 8 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. Ret. Lt. Col. Faunetta L. Brown
Graveside funeral services for retired Lt. Col. Faunetta L. Brown will be conducted Thursday, December 04, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. in the Flintville Cemetery with Rev. Margaret Brown officiating. Lt. Col. Brown went to be with the Lord on December 2, 2003. She was born in Flintville, TN on October 18, 1917 and retired in Montgomery, AL in 1963 after serving 20 years in the Air Force. She retired from Baptist Hospital in 1976. In 1995, she moved to William F. Green Veterans Home. Faunetta was a very loving and caring person who did a lot for others. She was a devoted mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed by all. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law: Diane Gray & Jim Sepan; 2 grandsons and their wives: James E. Jimmy & Christie Gray & David C. & Julie Gray; 2 great grandsons: David C. Gray, Jr., Cooper E. Gray; 2 great granddaughters: Payton A. Gray and Caroline G. Gracie Gray all of Wetumpka, Alabama; 2 brothers: Hugh E. & Laurrine Brown of San Diego, CA, Charles E. & Roberta Brown of Panama City Beach, FL; several nieces and nephews and long time family friend: Joann Carlisle. Mr. Phillip W. Dugger
Phillip W. Dugger passed away at home on December 24, 2003 after a courageous battle with lung cancer. His last wish was to be at home. He was born November 8, 1947 to Robert Allen and Dorothy Prosser Dugger, who preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife: Nancy Dugger of Lewisburg, TN; his step-daughter and her husband: Carrie and Jeremy Phillips and 2 step grandsons: Alexander and Matthew Phillips of Kailua, Hawaii; his son: Jeff Dugger of Fayetteville, TN; mother-in-law and father-in-law: William and Mary Bates; sisters-in-law: Vicki Nelson of Stockholm, Wisconsin, Betty Westberg of Prescott Wisconsin, Kathryn Ebben of Eau Claire, Wisconsin and nieces and nephews. He was employed at ICP in Lewisburg for 34 years until the plant closing. Memorial services will be Saturday, January 3, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Gallant Funeral Home with Hospice Chaplain Gloria Watts officiating.
