Mrs. Glendolyn Wade

Mrs. Glendolyn Wade, age 75 of Lewisburg, died Thursday at her home. Mrs. Wade was a native of Little Rock, Arkansas, daughter of the late Glenn and Berta Anne Bellamy Vise, homemaker and member of the First United Methodist Church. She is survived by one daughter, Rita Anne Weaver of Lewisburg, one granddaughter, Savannah Grace Weaver of Lewisburg; and one grandson, Benjamin Wade Weaver of Lewisburg. Funeral services were conducted Friday at 2:00 p.m. from the Chapel of London Funeral Home with interment in Lone Oak Cemetery. Rev. Jim Hamilton officiated the service. The family was at the funeral home Thursday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. for visitation. Pallbearers were Edwin Scott, Billy Liggett, Sidney Park, Larry Crigger, Freddie Lee and John Keel.

Dr. James Watson Woods

Dr. James Watson Woods, age 82, son of the late J.W. and Sallie Watson Woods, died at his home in Winston Salem, North Carolina, on February 27. He is survived by his wife, Marion Briner Woods, a daughter Diane Woods Englund of Concord, Massachusetts; sons J.W. Woods, III, of Winston Salem, North Carolina, and Martin Briner Woods of Fort Lauderdale, Florida; seven grandchildren, and sister, Sara W. Bigham of Lewisburg. Dr. Woods was born and grew up in Lewisburg, was a graduate of the University of Tennessee and the Medical School of Vanderbilt University, and was a naval veteran of World War II. Prior to his retirement he was a member of the faculty and a physician on the staff of the University of North Carolina School of Medicine. He was awarded the North Carolina Heart Association's highest award, the Silver Medallion, "for distinguished service," and had served as a member of the Association's research committee. He was president of the Association in 1971-72 and was a member of the American Heart Association's Council on Clinical Cardiology and its Research Study Committee. He was a lifelong member of the Presbyterian Church and had served as Elder and Deacon. A memorial service will be conducted at the Parkway Presbyterian Church in Winston Salem on Wednesday, March 1, and a subsequent memorial will be held at Round Hill Cemetery near Belfast on Saturday, March 25, at an hour to be announced later. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the James W. Woods Junior Faculty Award, University of North Carolina Medical School, Chapel Hill, N.C. 27514.

Cassandra "Casey" Mobley Sprinkle

Cassandra "Casey" Mobley Sprinkle, age 22, of the Lynnville Community, died Thursday, February 24, at Vanderbilt University Hospital from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. She was a former employee of National Bridle Shop in Lewisburg and recent employee of The Computer Store in Columbia. A memorial service was conducted Saturday at 5:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Barry Farris officiating. Memorials may be made to the Columbia Community Church of Christ. A native of Maury County, she was a 1996 graduate of Columbia Academy, attended Columbia State Community College and had a C-1 ranking as a member of the United States Pony Club. She married Chris Sprinkle in September, 1996 and attended the Columbia Community Church of Christ. Survivors include her mother, June Welton Mobley of Maury County; her father and step-mother, Robert and Mary Mobley of Maury County; a son, Jacob Sprinkle of Maury County; one brother, Robin Mobley of Lynnville; step-sisters, Meagan Shaddix and Tarah Shaddix; a step-brother, Wes Shaddix; paternal grandmother, Lucille Rippey of Columbia.

William Roberson

William Roberson, age 71, of the Rally Hill Community of Maury County, died Saturday morning, February 26, in Columbia, after an extended illness. He was a retired welder and a member of the New Macedonia Free Will Baptist Church. Mr. Roberson was a native of Maury County and was a son of the late John and Rosie Kate Slaughter Roberson. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Bobbie Carol Roberson of the Rally Hill community; one daughter, Michelle Cannon and two sons, Howard Roberson and Glenn Roberson all of Columbia; two step-daughters, Lisa Jackson and Misty Hunt and one step-son, Brian Roberson all of the Rally Hill community; four brothers, Paul Roberson of Franklin, Aaron Grayeagle of the Rally Hill community, Golden "Tooter" Roberson and Richard Roberson both of Smyrna; five grandchildren and three step-grandchildren. Visitation was held on Sunday at 12:00 noon at Lawrence Funeral Home. Graveside services were conducted on Monday, February 28, at 2:00 p.m. at Ring Cemetery in the Pottsville community of Maury County with Rev. J.D. Brooks officiating. Burial followed in Ring Cemetery.

Rev. Willie Payne Johnson

Rev. Willie Payne Johnson, died Sunday, February 27. He was former pastor of Greater First Baptist Church, and Mt. Carmel Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Daisy Johnson; two sons, Larry Gene Johnson and Rev. Herbert Johnson; three daughters, Lillette Johnson Smith, Wanda Kay Lightford, and Sandra Fay Mayes; and seven grandchildren. His body will lie in state Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Visitation with the family will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 1, at Greater First Baptist Church. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, March 2, at 1:00 p.m. at Greater First Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Beechwood Cemetery in Cornersville. J.B. Mayberry and Son in charge of the arrangements.

Danny Lee Horn

Danny Lee Horn, age 35 of Mooresville, died Wednesday at his home. Mr. Horn was a native of Shreveport, Louisiana, son of Buddy Lee Horn of Natchitoches, Louisiana and Judy Carnline Horn of Doyline, Louisiana, former employee of the Oilfields and member of the Church of Christ. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Darlene Lincoln Horn of Mooresville; three sons, Christopher Gray Horn of Ketchie, Louisiana, Dakota Horn and Justice Horn both of Shreveport, Louisiana; one sister, Deborah Stricklin of Doyline, Louisiana; maternal grandparents, Melvin and Lodis Carnline of Shreveport, Louisiana; paternal grandparents, L.V. and Nell Horn of Robeline, Louisiana, and three step-grandchildren. Mr. Horn's body will be shipped to Rockett-Nettles Funeral Home in Coushatta, Louisiana for funeral services and burial. London Funeral Home was in charge of local arrangements.

Pearl Franklin Hilltalent, age 76, of Lewisburg, died Sunday morning at her residence. Graveside services were conducted at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday in the Cochran Cemetery. She was a native of Lewisburg, the daughter of the late George and Judy Stone Franklin, a member of the Church of Christ, a homemaker and was preceded in death by her husband, Homer Hilltalent. She is survived by two daughters, Mary Colvett and Judy Sharp both of Lewisburg; four grandchildren and one great grandchild. The family was at the funeral home on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the service time at Bills-McGaugh and Floyd Funeral Home.

George Adgent Wood

George Adgent Wood, infant son of Danny and Tammy Wood of Cornersville, was still born Wednesday morning, February 23, at Maury Regional Hospital in Columbia. In addition to his parents, he is survived by two brothers, Daniel and David Wood; four sisters, Jessica, Krystle, Katy and Jenny Mae Wood; paternal grandparents, Bruce and Pauline Wood of Cornersville; and maternal grandmother, Hilda Adgent of Lewisburg. Private services and burial were held in Short Cemetery on Friday, by Tom Dumser and Bobby Burns. London Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Lois M. Cain died Thursday, April 3 in Texas. She is survived locally by a son, Stephen Cain of Lewisburg. Funeral services were held on Monday, April 7, at 10:00 a.m. at the Central Baptist Church in Hillsboro, Texas. Visitation with the family was held on Sunday, April 6, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Edens Funeral Home in Hillsboro, Texas.

Charles Leonard Goins, age 61, of Lewisburg, died Monday afternoon, April 7, in Maury Regional Hospital in Columbia. Mr. Goins was a native of Williamson County and son of the late Leonard Goins and Mrs. Leila Deason Goins of Franklin, who survives. He was an employee of Consumer Tractor Company of Franklin, Viet Nam Veteran and attended Lewisburg Church of God. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Sheila Gipson Goins of Lewisburg; a daughter, Melissa Goins and a son, Charles L. Goins, II, both of Lewisburg; two sisters, Shirley Wise and Willie Irene Beard, both of Franklin. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, April 9, at 1:00 p.m. from the Chapel of London Funeral Home with Carolos Leffew and Roy Burner officiating. Burial will follow in Head Springs Cemetery. The family will be at London Funeral Home in Lewisburg on Tuesday, April 8, after 4:00 p.m. and Wednesday until the funeral hour for visitation. Pallbearers will be Todd Rubert, Brian Goins, Daryl Pardee, Brian Thompson, Steve Fulton, and Charles Goins, II. Honorary pallbearers will be Cameron Coble, Chuck Coble, Bubba Beard, PeeWee Beard and Jerry Beard.

Mrs. Alice Elizabeth Pettus Hay

Mrs. Alice Elizabeth Pettus Hay, age 90, of Eagleville, died Saturday, April 5, in Murfreesboro. Mrs. Hay was a native of Rutherford County and was a daughter of the late Jesse Allen and Donie Thomas Pettus. She was a member of the Eagleville Baptist Church, a former schoolteacher and a former member of the Eagleville City Council. Mrs. Hay was preceded in death by her husband, Ira James Hay who died in 1971. She is survived by three daughters, Dr. Elizabeth Rhea of Murfreesboro, Carolyn Dobbins of Brentwood and Sara Robbins of Blairsville, Georgia; two sons, James Iverson Hay of Suwanee, Georgia and Dr. Robert Pettus Hay of Waukesha, Wisconsin; a sister, Mrs. Ruth Steel of Nashville; a brother, Thomas Pettus of Nolensville; five grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Visitation with the family was held on Monday, April 7, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Tuesday, April 8, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Lawrence Funeral Home in Chapel Hill. Funeral services were conduced on Tuesday, at 2:00 p.m. at Eagleville Baptist Church in Eagleville, with Rev. Vance King, Rev. Paul McKee and Don Dobbins officiating. Burial followed in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alice Hay Memorial at Eagleville Baptist Church, Eagleville.

Mrs. Etta Haskins Johnsey

Mrs. Etta Haskins Johnsey, age 103, of the Halls Mill Community of Bedford County, died Thursday, April 3, in Nashville after a short illness. Mrs. Johnsey was a native of Bedford County, a homemaker and was the daughter of the late W.A. (Will) and Nannie Moon Haskins. She was a life long member of the Clay Hill United Methodist Church. Mrs. Johnsey was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Chester Johnsey who died in 1960. She is survived by three grandchildren, three great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. Visitation began at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, April 4, at Lawrence Funeral Home in Chapel Hill. Funeral Services were conducted on Saturday, April 5, at 1:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home with Rev. Joe Bowers officiating. Burial followed in Haskins Cemetery in the Clay Hill Community of Marshall County.

Mrs. Barbara Crigger Neill

Mrs. Barbara Crigger Neill, age 53, of Lewisburg, died Saturday morning, April 5, at her home. She was a native of Marshall County, daughter of the late John W. and Earline Woodard Crigger, retired from the State of Tennessee Department of Human Services and a member of the First Cumberland Presbyterian Church. She is survived by her husband, Ronald Neill of Lewisburg and a sister, Melissa Crigger Adair of Collierville; five nephews and one niece. Funeral services were conducted Sunday, April 6, at 2:00 p.m. from the First Cumberland Presbyterian Church with Wayne Morgan and Kenneth Neill officiating. Burial followed in the Wheel Cemetery. The family was at London Funeral Home in Lewisburg on Saturday, April 5, after 4:00 p.m. for visitation. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the First Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Pallbearers were Landing Neill, Michael Neill, John Neill, Carl Neill, Robert Neill, Calvin Woodard and Joe Pugh.

Mrs. Anna Faye Marable Redmond

Mrs. Anna Faye Marable Redmond, age 88, of the Patterson Community of Rutherford County, died Saturday, April 5. Mrs. Redmond was a native of Rutherford County and was a daughter of the late George Champion and Mary Elizabeth Taylor Marable. She was an executive secretary for T.I.M.E. DC Trucking Company having retired in 1976 after 28 years service. Mrs. Redmond was a member of the Rocky Glade Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Redmond was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Thomas Redmond, who died in 1982. She is survived by a daughter, Barbara Montgomery of the Patterson Community of Rutherford County. Visitation was held on Sunday, April 6, from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Lawrence Funeral Home in Chapel Hill. Funeral services were conducted on Monday, April 7, at 1:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Guin officiating. Burial followed in Swanson Cemetery in Chapel Hill. Relatives and friends will serve as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Rocky Glade Cumberland Presbyterian Church, Rocky Glade Road in Eagleville, Tennessee.

Mrs. Patricia Ann Rhodes, age 54, of Hendersonville, died Friday, April 4. She was a native of Marshall County the daughter of the late Wilbert Joines and Mary Joines, who survives. For many years, Mrs. Rhodes worked as teacher’s aid at Knox Doss Middle School Library. In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, Robert and a daughter, Cayce, both of Hendersonville; two sisters, Betty Lynn Joines, of White House and Judy Joines of Brentwood. A private family memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Knox Doss Middle School Library in Hendersonville. Mrs. Judy Gail Pugh Smith, age 47 of Ethridge, died Sunday, April 6, at National Health Care Center of Columbia. Mrs. Smith was a native of Lawrenceburg and the daughter of the late George and Pauline Dickey Pugh. She was a housewife and a homemaker. She is survived by two daughters, Stephaine Butler of Loretto and Tanya Pierce of Elkton; a son, Jeffery Adams of Lawrenceburg; four sisters, Peggy Polly, Delvene Moore and Barbara Parsons all of Pulaski and Connie Frost of Ethridge; three brothers, George Pugh, Jr. of Lewisburg, Jackie and Johnny Pugh, both of Ethridge and six grandchildren. Visitation with the family was held on Monday, April 7, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Bennett-May Funeral Home in Pulaski. Funeral services were conducted on Tuesday, April 8, at 2:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Bennett-May Funeral Home with Bro. David Malone officiating. Burial followed in Mt. Horeb Cemetery.

Edward Bailey, age 71, died Saturday morning, May 31, in Marshall Medical Center in Lewisburg. Mr. Bailey was a native of Marshall County, the son of the late Roy and Maudie Marie Waldrop Bailey, worked for the City of Lewisburg Recreation Golf Course and was a member of the Church of Christ. He is survived by his wife, Edna McKnight Bailey; a daughter, Vickie Davenport; a son, Scott Bailey; a sister, Marie Walker; two brothers, Jerry and Wayne Bailey, all of Lewisburg and seven grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted on Monday, June 2, at 2:00 p.m. from the Chapel of London Funeral Home in Lewisburg, with Henry Horton officiating. Burial followed in Berea Cemetery at Verona. The family was at London Funeral Home for visitation on Sunday, June 1 after 3:00 p.m. and until the funeral hour on Monday. Pallbearers were Dee Walker, Robin Minor, Kenneth Bailey, Bill Bailey, Jerry Wayne Bailey, Floyd (Doc) Bailey, Jr., Steve Lancaster and Jackie Green.
