Una V. Smith, age 65, of Harriman, passed away Monday, December 2, 2002, at Roane Medical Center. She was of the Baptist faith, an active member of the Girl Scouts Association and a retired local restaurant employee. Survivors include: daughter, Lisa Googe of Harriman; son, William C. Smith of Harriman; grandchildren, Andrew Googe of Harriman, William Perry Smith of Nashville, Joey Leigh Michelle Smith of Harriman; several half brothers and sisters. Josephine Brewster, age 89, of Harriman, passed away Sunday, December 1, 2002, at Harriman Care and Rehabilitation Center. She was a member of Piney Grove Baptist Church and was preceded in death by her husband, Jessie Brewster. Survivors include: niece, Kaye Gruszka of Harriman; daughter, Mary Gail Jordan of Mobile, AL; son, Mike Brewster of Gaffney, SC; sister, Eula Haupert of Rockwood; 4 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren. Gertrude Brown Lewis of Kingston, passed away Monday, December 2, 2002 at the Roane Medical Center in Harriman. Mrs. Lewis was born in New York City, the daughter of Earl and Mildred Kenyon Brown. She lived in Browns Mills, NJ. Prior to moving to Kingston, and was a long time employee of Howard Johnson restaurants in New Jersey. Mrs. Lewis was a member of Kingston United Methodist Church where she was active in the nursery department for many years. Mrs. Lewis was preceded in death by her husband, William J. Lewis. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Katharine Lewis Baxter of Ft. Myers, FL and Farmingdale, NJ; step-son, William Lewis, Jr. of Ormond Beach, FL; step-daughter, Viola Lewis Robbins of Sarasota, FL; 11 step-grandchildren; 20 step-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and many special friends. Donald Wright, age 40 of Harriman, passed away Monday, December 2, 2002 at his home. A member of Boilermakers Local 453. Preceded in death by his father, Charles David Wright, grandparents, Chester S. Wright, Avery and Edith Farr and Louise Farr. Survivors include: daughter, Pamela Wright of Harriman; son, Bryan Gammons of Harriman; mother, Lois Wright of Nashville; sisters and brothers-in-law, Cheryl and Ricky Bosley of Joelton, TN, Villita and Greg Ellis of Lavergne, TN; brother, Terry Wright of Springfield, TN; brother and sister-in-law, James and Candace Wright of Harriman; grandmother, Julia Wright of Nashville. Bertha Stephens Daugherty, age 88, of Sweetwater, passed away on Monday, December 2, 2002, at Sweetwater Nursing Center after a lengthy illness. She was a member of Christianburg Baptist Church of Sweetwater. Retired from Bell South on February 5, 1977 after 42 years of service. Preceded in death by her parents, Mack and Ethel Webb Stephens; husband, Clarence K. Daugherty; brother, Roy Stephens; sister, Eva McDaniel. Paul L. McKay, age 77, of Sweetwater, passed away on Wednesday, December 4, 2002. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Sweetwater, where he sang in the church choir. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the US Navy. Preceded in death by his parents, Delbert and Iva McKay and stepfather, Noel Moss. Roger E. Dunsmore, age 66, of Sweetwater, passed away on Saturday, December 28, 2002 at U.T. Medical Center. He was a member of True Gospel Baptist Church, and a volunteer fire fighter at Christianburg Fire Department having served several years as Fire Chief. He was employed at McKee Bakery "Little Debbie's" for 20 years. Preceded in death by his parents: Roy and Mossie Dunsmore; sister, Dorothy Dunsmore; brother, Avery Dunsmore. Survivors include: wife of 34 years, Aileen Dunsmore; son, Steve Dunsmore; daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Lonnie Raby; grandchildren, Jonathan Swainson, Hunter and Chase Raby all of Sweetwater; brothers and sisters-in-law, Leon and Velma Dunsmore of Powell, Rector and Evelyn Dunsmore of Sweetwater; sisters and brothers-in-law, Vandella and Willard Smith of Knoxville, Geraldine and Larry Richardson of Athens; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Marvin and Nancy Miller of Sweetwater; several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her husband: George Nelson; son, Ulyss Nelson. Survivors include: son, Elmer Nelson of Sweetwater; daughters and sons-in-law, Louise and Billy Aikens of Lenoir City and Jessie Thomas of Loudon, 4 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Arnold Eugene Lance, age 89, of Sweetwater, passed away on Sunday, December 29, 2002. He was born on October 28, 1913 in Tellico Plains, TN. He was a veteran of WWII. Preceded in death by his parents: Ruth and Hardy; wife, Obrey May Cantrell Lance; and a brother, Vernon Lance. Survivors include: daughters and son-in-law, Susie and Ray Witt with whom he made his home of Loudon and Lois Ann Redding of Pensacola, FL; sister, Carzelle Aluisio of New York; grandchildren and spouses, Pamela and Todd Flentje of Stone Mt., GA, Suzanne and Terry Workman of West Pal Beach, FL, Greg Redding and Julie Chapman of Pensacola, FL; 6 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Joanne Gallaher, Age 51, of Kingston, departed from this earthly life and entered into heaven on Monday, Dec. 30, 2002. She was born in Harriman on June 29, 1951 to Guy and Josie Daniels who preceded her in death. She was a devoted and devout Christian mother, wife, Licensed Practical Nurse, former Sunday School Teacher, Children's Director, and Discipleship Training Teacher. She was a member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church, former member of Union Chapel Baptist Church, and Bible Baptist Church where she loved to teach the Word of God to children and others. She worked at several area hospitals and nursing homes caring for the sick in which she loved dearly. She is survived by her husband of over 28 years, Rickey Edd Gallaher, who loved her dearly, 3 sons, Rickey Jason Gallaher, Courtney Travis Gallaher, and Adam Edwin Gallaher, 2 daughter-in-laws, Jennifer and Heather Gallaher, 2 grand-daughters, Jamie and Haveyn Gallaher, 1 sister, Sue Hurst, 5 brothers, Billie Joe Daniels, Guy Daniels Jr., Cari Ed Daniels, W. C. Daniels, and Terry Daniels. She leaves behind many beloved children she taught, patients she cared for, relatives, friends, neighbors, and loved ones whom she really loved. Funeral Services will be conducted at the Cedar Grove Baptist Church in Kingston on Friday night, 1-3-2003 while receiving friends and viewing the body from 5-7 PM with the funeral services beginning at 7 PM with the Rev. Ronald Nickell, Rev. Randall Griffis, and Rev. DeWayne Howard officiating. Rev. DeWayne Howard and his wife Natalie Howard will be singing the songs of praise and worship. The family and devoted friends will assemble at Kyker Funeral Home on Saturday morning, 1-4-2003, at 9 AM to proceed to the Lawnville Cemetery for Graveside services to be conducted by the Rev. Ronald Nickell. The family wants to thank everyone for all the prayers, kind thoughts, food, calls, visits, and other kind acts shown during Joanne's illness and departure to heaven but requests that everyone continue to pray for the family, that the lost people will get saved, and the back-slidden repent so that we can all meet Joanne and others in Heaven some day and spend an eternity with Jesus Christ our Lord and Saviour.
