SMITH, FRANK GOLDMAN, Rev.  94, died October 24, 1997. Born in Scott County, 
Tenn., March 20, 1903, he was the son of the late John Calvin and Martha 
Slaven Smith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded also in death by 
his wife, Letha Smith; two sons, Clifford Cordell Smith and William David 
Smith; two daughters, Corene Sams and Maxine Conner;
five brothers: Lori, Leonard, Elmer, Lonnie and Wardy Smith; and four 
sisters: Leone Wilhite, Nancy Hammock, Dealie Taylor and Zona Pennington. He 
was a minister and member of Meadows Grove Baptist Church. He is survived by 
three daughters: Clara Jean Slaven of Metamora, Ind., Mary Madgelene Huling, 
and Ruth Naoma Dunn, both of Atlanta, Ga.; two sons: Arve Lee Smith of 
Brookville, Ind., and John
Leslie Smith of Atlanta, Ga.; 26 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; 
several great-great grandchildren; one sister, Minnie Kidd of Oregon; 
several nieces, nephews and many other relatives. Funeral services were 
conducted October 26, 1997, in the chapel of WestMurley Funeral Home
with Rev. Johnny Gray officiating. The church choir sang. Interment followed 
in Peaceful Rose Gardens. West-Murley Funeral Home was in charge of

Letha Sylvania Smith
   Mrs. Letha Sylvania Hammock Smith, 84. of Rt 1, Oneida, passed away 
Thursday afternoon, July 21, 1994, at Scott County Hospital.
   She was the daughter of the late John Hammock and the late Rachel West 
Hammock, and was also preceded in death by two sons, Clifford Cordell Smith 
and William David Smith; two daughters, Corene(Corrina) Sams and and Maxine 
Conner; two brothers Willie and Harvey Hammock; and four sisters Mary 
Hammock, Rebecca Smith, Emily Hammock, and Flossie Hammock.. She was a 
member of the Meadows Grove Baptist Church in Pine Knot, KY
   Mrs. Smith is survived by her husband, Rev. Frank Goldman Smith of 
Oneida; two sons Arve Lee Smith of Brookville, Ind., and John Leslie Smith 
of Atlanta, GA; three daughters Clara Jean Slaven of Matamora, Ind., and 
Mary Madgelene Huling and Ruth Noami Dunn of Atlanta, GA; one sister Ida 
Lochard of Brookville, Ind., one brother Lee Hammock of Cincinnati, O. 29 
grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and many 
other relatives and friends.
  Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 24 at the 
West-Murley Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. John C. Gray, Rev. Sims Thacker, 
and Rev. Claude Gilbert officiating. The Meadows Grove Baptist Church Choir 
sang. Burial was in the Peaceful Rose Garden Cemetery in the Pain Rock 
Community.
   Pallbears were: Billy Dean Hammock, Eddie R Mullins, Donald L. Smith, 
William D. Smith, Harold D. Slaven, and Jason Richardson. Shane Thomas was 
an honorary pallbearer.
   West-Murley Funeral Home was in charge of services.

SMITH, LETHA SYLVANIA HAMMOCK  84, of Rt. 1, Oneida, died Thursday 
afternoon, July 21, 1994, at the Scott County Hospital. She was born 
November 18, 1909. She was the daughter of the late JOHN HAMMOCK and the 
late RACHEL WEST HAMMOCK. She also was preceded in death by two sons: 
CLIFFORD CORDELL SMITH and WILLIAM DAVID SMITH; two daughters: CORENE SAMS 
and MAXINE CONNER; two brothers: WILLIE and HARVEY HAMMOCK; and four 
sisters: MARY HAMMOCK, REBECCA SMITH, EMILY HAMMOCK and FLOSSIE HAMMOCK. She

Brookeville, Ind.; one brother, LEE HAMMOCK of Cincinnati, Ohio; 29 
grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; 
several nieces and nephews and many other relatives. Funeral services were 
conducted Sunday at West-Murley Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. JOHN C. GRAY, 
Rev. SIMS THACKER and Rev. CLAUDE GILBERT officiating. The Meadow Grove 
Baptist Church Choir sang. Burial was in the Peaceful Rose Gardens Cemetery 
in the Paint Rock community. Pallbearers were BILLY DEAN HAMMOCK, EDDIE R. 
MULLINS, DONALD L. SMITH, WILLIAM D. SMITH, HAROLD D. SLAVEN and JASON 
RICHARDSON. SHANE THOMAS was honorary pallbearer. West-Murley Funeral Home

SMITH, CLIFFORD CORDELL  age 51, of Oneida, passed away at his home, Sunday, 
Aug. 13, 1978.  He was preceded in death by one son, KENT DEWAYNE SMITH, one 
sister, CORRINE SAMS.  He was a veteran of the Korean War.  A member of the 
Antioch Baptist Church in McCreary Co., Ky.  Survivors: Wife: CLARA GOODMAN 
SMITH, of Oneida, two daughters, Mrs. RICHARD (LOUETTA) WHITEHEAD of 
Memphis, TN., Mrs. EARNEST (CAROL SUE) AUTRY, of Oneida; five sons; GILBERT 
SMITH, of Atlanta, Ga., EARL SMITH, CLIFFORD SMITH, Jr., and MARVIN SMITH 
all of Oneida, KEITH SMITH of Memphis, Tn.; Parents: GOLDMAN SMITH and LETHA 
HAMMOCK SMITH, both of Oneida; four sisters: JEAN SLAVEN of Brokville 
[Brookville], Ind., MAXINE CHAMBERS, MARY HULING, and RUTH CHAFFIN, all of 
Atlanta, Ga.; three Brookville, Ind., and LESLIE SMITH of Atlanta, Ga.; four 
grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.  Funeral services 
were conducted from the West-Collins and Murley Funeral Home Chapel, 1 p.m. 
Tuesday, Aug. 15, with Rev. ERNEST WOODS officiating.  Burial in the Peaceful 
Rose Gardens. 
American Legion was in charge of Military Honors at the graveside.

SMITH GOODMAN, CALVIN - 60, formerly of Oneida, passed away recently at his 
home in Lorain, O. He is the son of the late MARY ETTA and ALBERT GOODMAN 
and was also preceded in death by two brothers, ANDREW and EUGENE GOODMAN. 
Survivors include his wife, MARY GOODMAN; two step-children; two sisters, 
CLARA SMITH and husband CLIFFORD of Oneida, and TRUIE DEVESKI and husband 
DON of Cedar Grove, Ind.; one brother, KENNETH GOODMAN and wife SHIRLEY of 
Grumby, N.C.; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

PHILLIPS, EFFIE JEFFERS - 74, passed away Friday, June 15 at the Scott 
County Hospital following a short illness, she was a life long resident of 
Scott County. A member of the Baptist Church. Survivors: Husband, FED 
PHILLIPS; three sons, CLIFTON and CLARENCE, Helenwood, ELBERT, Hamilton, 
Ohio; four daughters, Mrs. FRED CHAMBERS, Mrs. ROBERT BOSHEARS, Huntsville, 
Mrs. LILLIE GOODMAN, Helenwood, Mrs. OPAL BOWMAN, Hamilton, Ohio; sister, 
MAGGIE OOTEN, Oneida, 39 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren. Funeral 
services 3 p.m. Sunday from the Paint Rock Baptist Church. Rev. ALBERT 
CHITWOOD officiating. Interment in the Baldy Knob Cemetery.

E. J. Autrey, 29, of the Grave Hill Community, passed away Sunday morning, 
January 24, at the Scott County Hospital following a lengthy illness.
A member of the Grave Hill Baptist Church, he was preceded in death by his 
mother, Ruth Virginia Chitwood Autrey; and one infant brother, William 
Powell Autrey.
He is survived by his father, William Henry Autrey of Rt. 2, Oneida; one 
daughter, Stacey Lechelle Autrey of the Capital Hill community; four 
sisters, Mrs. Dexter (Dorothy) Edens of Jonesville, VA., Mrs. Robert 
(Henrietta) Hunt of West Milton, O., Mrs. Hurstle (Phyllis) Terry of Rt. 2, 
Oneida, and Mrs. Norman C. (Alene) Watson of Rt. 2, Helenwood; four 
brothers, Don K. Autrey of Hollywood, Fla., and Jake Autrey, Harold Autrey, 
and Allan Autrey, all of Rt. 2, Oneida; grandmother, Georgie Chitwood of 
Vandalia, O.; several nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and 
friends.
Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 27, at the 
West-Murley Funeral Home chapel, with Mark Edens and Rev. Garrett Muse 
officiating. The Duncan family sang. Burial was in the Marcum-Kidd Cemetery.
Pallbearers were: John Wesley Autrey, Michael Terry, James Heath, Terry

Smith, Arve Lee

Arve Lee Smith, of Brookville, passed away on Friday March 2, 2001
at Brookville Healthcare Center. He was 71 years old. He was born in Oneida, 
TN, the son of Rev. Frank Goldman Smith and Letha Sylvania Hammock Smith, on 
March 27, 1929. He and the former Fredia Lovdas Calihan were united in 
marriage on February 23, 1952, in Brookville. He retired from quality 
control at Visteon in Connersville. He was a member of Scipio Baptist 
Church.
    Survivors include his wife: one son Donald Lee Smith of Brookville; four 
daughters; Janet Elaine Vest, Theresa Jane Lockridge, Cassandra Lynn 
Schirmer, all of Brookville; Michelle Renee Kaiser of Cincinnati, Ohio; 11 
grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren; one brother, Leslie Smith of 
Oneida, TN, and two sisters, Mary Huling of Atlanta, GA, and Ruth Dunn of 
Padataka, FL.
   He was preceded in death by three sisters, Clara Jean Slaven, Corine Sams 
and Maxine Conner; two brothers, William David Smith and Clifford Cordale 
Smith, and one grandson, Devan Canada.
   The funeral service was conducted Monday, March 5, at Cook Funeral Home. 
Rev. Mike Holoman, Pastor of the First Baptist Church of Brookville, and 
Rev. Ed Day of the Scipio Baptist Church, officated. He was laid to rest in 
the Maple Grove Cemetery with family members serving as pallbearers. Scipico 
Baptist Church and the First Baptist Church of Brookville are accepting 
memorial donations.

Clara Jean Slaven, 9082 Pence Road, Metamora, died at her residence on 
Monday, January 12. She was 65 years old.
Born March 30, 1932, in Oneida, Tennessee, she was the daughter of Goldman 
and Letha (Hammock) Smith. Mrs. Slaven was a homemaker and attended the 
Lighthouse Gospel Tabernacle Church in Metamora.
Survivors include her husband, Rev. Clarence Slaven of Metamora; three 
daughters, Mrs. Thomas (Sharon) Richardson of Connersville, Mrs. David 
(Cathy) Thomas of Brookville and Mrs. Peter (Denise) Kaiser of Indianapolis; 
one son, Harold Slaven, and his wife Joyce, of Aiken, South Carolina; two 
sisters, Mrs. Bill (Mary) Huling of Atlanta, Georgia and Mrs. Tom (Ruth) 
Dunn of St. Augustine, Florida; two brothers, Arve Lee Smith and his wife, 
Freida, of Brookville and Leslie Smith, and his wife, Elizabeth, of Atlanta, 
Georgia; nine grand-children and four great-grandchildren.
Two sisters, two brothers and her parents preceded her in death.
Pastor Bill Slagle and Pastor Ernest Woods will conduct the funeral on 
Thursday, January 15, at 11 a.m., at the Lighthouse Gospel Tabernacle. She 
will be laid to rest in Maple Grove Cemetery. Visitation hours are from 4 
until 8 p.m. Wednesday, January 14, at Phillips and Meyers Funeral Home. 
Mrs. Slaven's family requests that memorial donations be made to the 
American Cancer Society.

METAMORA, Ind. -- The Rev. Clarence Slaven, 76, Metamora, died Wednesday, 
Sept. 1, 2004. Born Oct. 18, 1927, in Oneida, Tenn., to John and Hettie 
Slaven, the World War II Army veteran retired from Philco-Ford, 
Connersville. Survivors: wife, Goldie; son, Harold Slaven; daughters, Sharon 
Richardson, Cathy Thomas, Denice Kaiser; stepdaughters, Peggy Conn, Patty 
Siedling; stepsons, Douglas, Donald, David Bennett; sister, Cordelia Black; 
brother, Mitchell Slaven. His first wife, Clara 'Jean' Smith Slaven, is 
deceased. Service: 11 a.m. Tuesday, Brookville (Ind.) Christian Center. 
Visitation: 4-8 p.m. Monday, Phillips & Meyers Funeral Home, 
Brookville.Memorials may be made to the Brookville Christian Center.

SLAVEN
Mitchell Slaven, 89, of Oneida, passed away July 12, 2005, at the Scott 
County Hospital in Oneida.
Born in Scott County, December 12, 1915, he was preceded in death by his 
parents, James Henry and Hettie Slaven; his wife, Arnie Foster Slaven; one 
son, Macarthur Slaven; one daughter, Lula Slaven; great-grandson, Skylar 
Layne; and three brothers: Walter, Austain, and Clarence Slaven.
He is survived by one daughter, Marie Slaven Thomas and husband, Grayson; 
two sons: Winford Slaven and wife, Faye, and Chester Slaven and wife, 
Imogene; 11 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, eight 
great-great-grandchildren, daughter-in-law, Marie Slaven of Oneida; one 
sister, Cordellia Black of Somerset, Ky.; several nieces and nephews, and 
many other relatives.
Funeral service was conducted July 15, in the chapel of Jones & Son Funeral 
Home with Rev. Lloyd King officiating. Music was provided by Foster 
Crossroads Baptist Church. Graveside service was conducted July 16, at 
Foster Crossroads Cemetery.

SKYLAR THOMAS LAYNE, 7 months of Oneida passed away April 18, at the 
Cookeville Hospital.  He was the son of Blake and Rebecca Layne of Oneida. 
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his grandparents, Ralph and 
Patty Boyatt, Dennis and Donna Layne, all of Oneida; great-grandparents, 
Marie Honeycutt of Helenwood, Gayson and Marie thomas and Archie Boyatt all 
of Oneida; great-great grandfather, Mitchell Slaven of Oneida; one aunt, 
Tiffany Jeffers and husband Jobe of Oneida; three uncles, J.R. Boyatt and 
Bobby Layne both of Oneida, Dusty Layne and wife Samantha of Helenwood; two 
special cousins, Isaiah Jeffers and Kaitlin Layne.  Funeral services were 
conducted April 21 at 10 a.m. in the chapel of Four Oaks Funeral Home in 
Oneida with Bro. Lloyd King officiating.  Special music was provided by 
Foster Cross Roads Church Choir.  Burial followed in the Foster Cross 
Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers the family request that all donations be made 
to the Skylar Thomas Layne Memorial Fund, c/o Four Oaks Funeral Home, 586

SLAVEN, WILLIAM O. - age 90, passed away Tuesday night, Feb. 10 at 
the home of MITCHEL SLAVEN at Foster Cross Roads where he had been making 
his home for the past seven years. He was one of Scott county's oldest 
citizens. He is survived by one son HERMAN SLAVEN of Cincinnati, O., two 
grandchildren, nine great grand children. Funeral service was held at the 
Cross Roads Baptist church where he was a member Thursday, February 12 with 
the Rev. CARMEL STANLEY officiating. Burial in the Davie Boyatt cemetery.

Maxine Smith Conner, 44, of East Point, GA, and formerly of Scott County, 
passed away Sunday afternoon, September 20, at Parkway Regional Hospital in 
Lithia Springs, GA following a lingering illness.   She was a member of the 
Church of Christ in Hapeville, GA and was preceded in death by onr sister, 
Corrine Sams; and one brother, Clifford Cordell Smith.
   Survivors include her father, Goldman Smith and her mother Lethay (Letha) 
Sylvania Hammock Smith, both of Rt 1, Oneida; her husband, Thomas Monroe 
Conner of East Point, GA; four daughters, Deborah Carpenter of East Point, 
GA; Mrs Jerome (Linda) Conner of East Point, GA; Judy Chambers and Kimberly 
Chambers of East Point, GA, one son Eddie Ray Mullins of East Point, GA; 
three sisters, Mrs Clarence (Clara Jean) Slaven of Metamora, Ind; Mrs 
William J (Mary Magdalene) Huling of Morrow, GA; Ruth Naomi Chaffin of East

at the Faith of God Baptist Church with Rev. Lewis Terry and Rev. Earnest 
Woods officiating. The Segal Phillips family will sing. Burial will be in the 
Peaceful Rose Garden Cemetery.

SMITH, WILLIAM DAVID  37, of Oneida, passed away suddenly Monday morning, 
November 5, 1984, at East Tennessee Baptist Hospital in Knoxville. He was 
preceded in death by two sisters: CORRINA SAMS and MAXINE CONNER; one 
brother, CLIFFORD CORDELL SMITH. He was a member of the Faith of God Baptist 
Church. Mr. SMITH is survived by his father, GOLDMAN SMITH and his mother, 
LETHA HAMMOCK SMITH, both of Oneida; his wife, ELIZABETH ANN (Libby) STRUNK 
SMITH of Oneida; one son, CARRIS DAVID SMITH of Brookville, Ind.; three 
sisters: Mrs. CLARENCE (JEAN) SLAVEN of Metamora, Ind., Mrs. W. J. (MARY) 
HULING of Morrow, Ga., and Mrs. B. J. (RUTH) DUNN of Morrow, Ga.; two 
brothers: ARVLEE SMITH of Brookville, Ind., and LESLIE SMITH of McDonough,

Whitley City, Ky.; two brothers, ELMER SMITH and GOLDMAN SMITH both of

Smith, Willie, 36, of Route 3, Oneida, passed away suddenly Tuesday morning, 
June 24, 1980, at the Rainbow Coal Co. in Caryville, TN. He was the son of 
the late Lora E. Smith. He was a member of the West Oneida Baptist Church. 
Survivors include his mother, Nancy Watson of Oneida; his wife, Orangie Faye 
Winchester Smith of Oneida; one daughter, Mechell Lynn Smith of Oneida; two 
sons, David Charles Smith and Danny Glen Smith, both of Oneida; two sisters, 
Winnie Savage and Cissie Anderson both of Route 3, Oneida; two brothers, 
Willard Smith and Dillard Smith of Oneida; and several nieces, nephews and 
other relatives. Funeral services were conducted Thursday, June 26, 2 p.m.

SMITH, WILLARD Bill  52, of Oneida, died suddenly October 14, 2002, at the 
Athens Regional Medical Center. Funeral arrangements were incomplete as of

SMITH, WILLARD (Bill)  52, of Oneida, passed away suddenly on Monday, 
October 14, in Meigs County. He was the son of the late LORA SMITH and NANCY 
WATSON SMITH FOSTER and was also preceded in death by one brother, WILLIE 
SMITH. He was a member of West Oneida Baptist Church. Survivors include his 
wife, BRENDA SMITH; his mother, NANCY WATSON SMITH FOSTER; one son, CURTIS 
SMITH of Oneida, one brother, DILLARD SMITH and wife CAROLINE of Oneida; two 
sisters, WINNIE SELVIDGE and husband WAYNE of Oneida, and CISSIE ANDERSON 
and husband ROBERT, and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services 
will be conducted on Thursday, October 17, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Four 
Oaks Funeral Home. with Rev. DON KIDD officiating. Special music will be 
provided by the O'Neal Family. Burial was in the Smith Family Cemetery. 
Serving as pallbearers will be JAMIE REAGAN, GARY REAGAN, LARRY LATHAM, 
TEDDY LATHAM, STEVEN BYRD, KEVIN ST. JOHN, and MICHAEL SMITH.  Four Oaks

SMITH, BERTHA - 90, of 1071 Smith Road, died December 23, 1998, at 
Huntsville Manor Nursing Home. Born in Scott County, August 2, 1908, she was 
the daughter of GEORGE and MANDY HAMMOCK. In addition to her parents, she 
was preceded also in death by her husband, LEONARD SMITH; three sons, 
WALTER, SAM, and OSCAR SMITH; and one daughter, ANNA MAE SMITH. She was of 
the Baptist faith. She is survived by one son, L.J. SMITH and wife, LOIS 
ANN, and one daughter, ROSE PHILLIPS; one daughter-in-law, MONA LEE SMITH; 
nine grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren. Funeral service was 
conducted Decembor 26, 1998, at West-Murley Funeral Home with Rev. J.C. 
REYNOLDS officiating. Music was provided by the Duncan Family. Interment 
followed in Smith Cemetery. West-Murley Funeral Home was in charge of

SMITH
L.J. Smith, 61, of Oneida, passed away September 14, 2003, at the Methodist 
Medical Center in Oak Ridge.
Born in Scott County, September 10, 1942, he was preceded in death by his 
parents, Leonard and Bertha Hammock Smith; his wife, Lois Ann Vanover Smith; 
three brothers, James, Sam, and Oscar Smith; and one sister, Anna Mae Smith.
He was of the Baptist faith.
He is survived by two sons: Junior Smith and wife, Pamela; and Jimmy Smith, 
all of Oneida; two grandchildren, one sister, Rosa Lee Phillips of Oneida, 
several nieces and nephews, and many other relatives.
Funeral service was to have been conducted September 17, at 3 p.m., in the 
chapel of Jones & Son Funeral Home with Bro. Jeremy Burke officiating. Music 
was to have been provided by the Thomas Family. Interment was to have 
followed in the L.J. Smith Cemetery. Jones & Son Funeral Home was in charge 
of arrangements.

THOMAS, AARON - of Coos Bay, Oregon died February 23, 1996 of cancer.  He 
was diagnosed of colon, stomach, and liver cancer in May 1995.  AARON was 
born March 19, 1931 in Oneida, Tennessee.  He was the son of JOHN HENRY 
THOMAS and MINNIE SMITH THOMAS.  He was raised and educated in Oneida, 
Tennessee.  AARON served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.  He 
received a purple heart from a combat wound.  After his enlistment, AARON 
relocated in Glendale, Oregon where he worked at the Robert Dollar Sawmill. 
In 1952, AARON married ELSIE LOWE of Oneida, Tennessee.  They had two 
daughters LOIS JEAN and JUDY LYNN.  The marriage ended in divorce.  In 1960, 
he moved to Coos Bay, Oregon where he worked for Weyerhaeuser Company until 
he retired in 1988.  AARON married1965.  They had one daughter VERNA KAY.  
He enjoyed traveling and visiting with his family and friends.  AARON was a 
generous, kind man who is missed by his family. He is survived by his mother 
MINNIE THOMAS KIDD of Myrtle Creek, Oregon;  wife RAMONA THOMAS of Coos Bay, 
Oregon; two daughters LOIS JEAN  FOSTER of Federal Way, Washington and VERNA 
THOMAS of Ocean Park, Washington;  two brothers GABRIEL THOMAS of Knoxville, 
Tennessee and CLEO THOMAS of  Myrtle Creek, Oregon. He is survived by 
several nieces and nephews who love and miss their Uncle AARON.  AARON was 
preceded in death by: father JOHN HENRY THOMAS; infant brother  JOSEPH 
THOMAS; daughter JUDY LYNN THOMAS (3 1/2 years old); four half sisters 
CORDELIA CECIL, GLETHA CECIL, RILDA BURKE, and ELIZABETH DAVIDSON; six half 
brothers, ISSAC, SYLVESTER, CHARLIE, WILLIE, CALVIN, and JAMES THOMAS.  
Aaron was cremated and his ashes are buried at I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Myrtle 
Creek, Oregon.

MYERS, LOTTIE
Lottie Myers, 77, died August 18, 1996, at the Fentress County Hospital. 
Born in Scott County, December 28, 1918, she was the daughter of the late 
Cal and Mary Jane HAMMOCK Smith. In addition to her parents, she was also 
preceded in death by her first husband, Elmer Willard Smith; four children: 
Floyd, Eva, Loretta and Johnny Lee Smith; one brother, Alford Smith; and one 
sister, Ollie Chitwood. She was of the Church of God faith. She is survived 
by her husband, Kenneth A. Myers; four daughters: Elveada Leib, Shirley 
Foster, Rose Lee Bowling, and Beulah Sexton; two sons: Hubert Smith and 
wife, Tootsie; and Luther Smith; 26 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren; 
two brothers: Arthur Smith and wife, Jean; and Oscar Smith and wife, Sharon; 
one sister, Nolie Jeffers and husband, Lebert; several nieces, nephews and 
many other relatives. Funeral services were conducted August 20, 1996, in 
the Chapel of West-Murley Funeral Home with Revs. Timothy Muse and Sammy 
Yancey of-ficiating. Interment followed in the Hazel Valley Cem-etery.
