Geneva Walker Millan
Geneva Frances Walker Millan, 69, died September 7, 2002 at her residence in Navarre, Florida. Born September 15, 1932 in Fairview, the daughter of the late William George Walker and Era Frances Overbey, she was the youngest of six children. She is preceded in death by a sister, Leona Walker Hardy and a brother William Deward Walker. She attended elementary school in Fairview and graduated Hillsboro High School in 1945, then enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1950 where she was assigned to administration at air bases in the United States and overseas. After 20 years of active military service, she retired only to continue to work as a civilian at Air Force bases near Pensacola, Fla. She became a charter member of the American Legion Post 378 serving as charter adjutant and assistant adjutant. She was also a charter member of the Elks Lodge, number 2787 of Navarre and Women s Democratic Party. She is survived by son, Gerald; daughter, Gina Waters; 4 grandchildren; brothers, Carl Walker, Sr. of Fairview, Virgil Walker of Hawkins, Texas, Philip Benton Walker of Clifton, TN.; and many nieces and nephews. Military funeral services were held September 13, 2002 at the Lewis Funeral Home Chapel in Navarre, Fla.

Clara D. Anderson
Clara D. Anderson, 71, passes away August 25, 2002 at her home in the Bending Chestnut Community. Mrs. Anderson was born in Williamson County, the daughter of the late Charlie and Minnie Forehand Stinson and was a member of Leipers Fork Church of Christ. She is preceded in death by her husband, Berry Anderson, Jr. Survivors include her sons, Tony W. (Pheebie) Anderson of Santa Fe, TN, Terry W. (Brenda) Anderson of the Boston Community; brother, Willie Stinson of Fairview; sister, Arvel Pewitt of Fairview; grandchildren, Berry Wade Anderson, Sonya Pinkard and Shelly Ladd; two great- grandchildren. Funeral services were August 27, 2002 at Williamson Memorial Funeral Home with Johnny Webb and David Skidmore officiating. Burial followed in Hudgins Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.

Miss Deborah Elizabeth Whitely, 47, passed away August 16, 2002 at Baptist Hospital in Nashville. Miss Whitely was a computer technician with United Methodist Publishing House in Nashville and a member of First Baptist Church in Fairview. She is preceded in death by her father, George Whitely and grandfathers, Alfred Martin and George Whitely. Mrs. Mercer was born in Perry County on March 10, 1915, the daughter of the late Gillispi Wilson Duncan Barber and Elizabeth Ozeila Baker Barber. She was preceded in death by her husband Hershel Mercer, son Conrad Allen Mercer, grandsons Michael Horner, Thomas Horner and sister Edith Reeves. Deborah B. Stewart
Mrs. Deborah B. Stewart, 45, passed away July 27, 2002. She is survived by her husband, Jonathan Stewart; son, Jonathan C. Stewart; daughter, Sherri Stewart, all of Fairview; parents, Cecil and Joanne Bratcher of Humbolt, TN,; sister, Cecilia Foster of Nashville; brother, Michael Bratcher of Knoxville; grandchildren, Shelby Walker and Jacob Blaylock. Mrs. Stewart was cremated. A memorial service will be held Sunday, August 17 at 2 p.m. at Fairview Church of the Nazarene, 7116 Cumberland Drive.

Mr. Walter Marvin Ward, Jr., 76, passed away July 29, 2002 at his residence in Centerville, TN. Mr. Ward was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served in World War II. He was retired from Genesco after 51 years of service and was a member of Defeated Creek Church of Christ. He is preceded in death by his wife, Bertha Mae Holderfield Ward. Survivors include his son, Randal (Deborah) Ward of Centerville; granddaughter, Jessica Ward of Centerville; grandson, Bryan Ward of Centerville; sister, Joanne McClanahan of Lexington, TN. A longtime resident of Fairview, she is survived by her son, Paul (Jan) McMahan of Hermitage, Tennessee.; daughters, Denise McMahan and Vickie Baker, both of Fairview; brother, Odes Potts of Primm Springs, Tennessee; grandchildren, Paul McMahan, Jr., Michelle and Sarah McMahan, Zachary Baker, Mara and Arin Greenberg; great grandsons, Benjamin Greenberg, Jacob Renfro and Sean McMahan. Funeral services were held Wednesday, July, 3, 2002 from the Craigfield Southern Methodist Church with Rev. Billy Kinslow officiating. Interment followed in Shady Grove Cemetery.

She is preceded in death by her parents, William Leslie Jack and Rosetta Tidwell Hughes, brothers, William Dub Hughes and Charles Buddy Hughes. She is survived by her daughter, Teresa (John) Pemerton of Antioch; brother, Cecil (Shirley) Hughes of Fairview, sister-in-law, Nellie Hughes of Franklin; grandchildren, Lindsey Bowker of Nashville and Chelsea Walters of Antioch; 2 nieces; 7 nephews. Mark was a professional florist in Nashville for many years and recently with Smith and Rogers Florist and was a member of the Central Tennessee Professional Florist Association. Iris Ohal Holobar, 75, passed away May 29, 2002 at her residence in Fairview. She is preceded in death by her parents James Erion, Sr and Beulah McClain. Ms. Holobar was a retired school teacher from Little Rock Arkansas Public Schools and played professional women s basketball for Hazel Walker s Red Heads. She is survived by her daughters, Kathy Holobar of Fairview and Lynne Wahl of Winslow, AR.; sister, Selmarie VanDerGriff of Laurel, MD. A memorial service is planned for June 4, 2002 at the Senior Citizen Center in Fairview.

Susie Louise Wright, 91, passed away May 21, 2002. Daughter of the late Noah and Etta Forest Lampley. She was a retired cafeteria server for David Lipscomb University and was a member of the Five Points Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Wright; daughters, Marie Wright, Patsy Nichols, and Nellie Tidwell. She is survived by sons, James Wright of Fairview, Billy Wright of Richmond, KY; daughter, Bettye Douglas of Smyrna; 15 grandchildren; 24 great grandhchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; brothers, Lester, Leroy and Sterling Lampley, all of Bon Aqua. Mr. Pack is survived by his brother, William (Buddy) Pack of Fairview, and his sister, Lela Ophelia Lee of Kingston Springs. Interment followed in the Pinkerton-New Hope Cemetery in Williamson County.

Mr. Thomas P. Bradford, Sr.,88 passed away May 8, 2002. Mr. Bradford was preceded in death by his wife Margaret Bradford. Gilbert is survived by his son, Milton Gordon of Nashville; sisters, Gladys Rainey of Franklin, Tennessee Catherine Dugan of Primm Springs, Tennessee Annie Deal and Pearline Thompson, both of Fairview, Tennessee and Betty Barnhill of Bellevue; brothers, Homer Gordon of Ashland City, Tennessee and Paul Gordon of Primm Springs, Tennessee. Funeral services were held on Thursday May 2, 2002 at Franklin Memorial Chapel in Franklin, Tennessee with Pastor Milton Gordon officiating. Burial followed in Anglin Cemetery.

Martha A. Dickey
Mrs. Martha A. Dickey, 79, passed away March 30, 2002 at Lutheran Hospital in Ft. Wayne, Indiana. Mrs. Dickey was a member of the Kennaappcomoco Home Ec Club, the Wabash County Retired Teachers Association and the Gideons Auxiliary. She graduated from Liberty Center (IN) High School in 1940, from Manchester College in 1943 and completed her Masters Degree from St. Francis College in Ft. Wayne, Indiana in 1973. She retired after 19 years at Laketon Elementary School where she taught learning disabled and second grade. Mrs. Dickey helped develop the Indiana state curriculum for learning disability classes. She was a member of West Eel River Church of the Brethren. Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Kenneth L. Dickey of Silver Lake, IN; son, Ralph Dickey of Silver Lake, IN; daughters, Mary Alice (Gail) Weber of Fairview, Jane Anne (Ted) Curless of North Olmsted, OH and Jo Ellen (Chuck) Hogan of Winona Lake, IN; 10 grandchildren, 1 deceased grandchild; 2 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, April 3, 2002 at West Eel River Church of the Brethren in Silver Lake Indiana with Rev. Paul Tinkle and Chaplain Joan Deeter officiating. Burial followed in Elm Gove Cemetery in Bluffton, Indiana. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, Gideons International, or West Eel River Church of the Brethren.

Mr. John L. Pewitt, 86, passed away Thursday, March 28, 2002 at Horizon Medical Center in Dickson. Mr. Pewitt was born in Williamson County, son of the late Henry Hartweld Pewitt and Nettie Thomas Pewitt. He served in the US Navy CB s during World War II. He was a self employed dozier operator and a farmer. He is preceded in death by his wife Nova McCord Pewitt. Survivors include his daughter, Julia Faye (Rodney) Winters of Franklin; sister, Marjorie Hardesty of Burns; grandchild, Darren Winters, great-grandchild, Anthony Winters. Graveside services were held on March 30, 2002 at Oak Grove Cemetery with Jim Taylor officiating.

Eddie Wayne Clark Jr.
Mr. Eddie Wayne Clark Jr., 41, went to be with the Lord March 13, 2002. Beloved husband, father, son, brother, uncle, grandson. Preceded in death by grandparents, Preston Russell and Ben and Lela Clark. Honorary pallbearers were members and retirees of Nashville-Chattanooga Elevator Local #93, personnel in the elevator division of Nashville Machine Co. and Otis Elevator Company.

Mrs. Sullivan is preceded in death by her parents, James W. and Sadie May Buttrey, husband of 40 years, Woodrow Wilson Sullivan, sister, Dorothy Sullivan, brother, Archie L. Buttrey, Sr. and granddaughter, Candace Sullivan. Bennett and wife Sara of Fairview; special nephews and nieces Andy Bennett, Jr., Donna Bennett, Judy Tomlin, Sally Fly, Sara Jane Bennett and Joe Bennett; other nieces and nephews; special great nephew Corey Michael Bennett; other great nieces and nephews; great-great niece Kassidy Warf; special friend, Gladys Shepherd. Funeral services were February 12, 2002 at Williamson Memorial Funeral Home with John House officiating. Burial followed in Williamson Memorial Gardens.
