Rosemary Millar, 58, of Dyersburg, died Friday, Aug. 30, 2002, at Methodist Healthcare-Dyersburg Hospital.
She was an educator for years and a juvenile officer for the State of Tennessee.

Graveside services will be at 4 p.m. today at Portageville Cemetery in Portageville, Mo., with Father Henry Grodecki officiating. Delisle Funeral Home in Portageville is in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include her husband, Bob Millar of Dyersburg; two sisters, Betty Ellington of Portageville and Patricia Bixler of Cape Girardeau, Mo.; a brother, John Raymond Hooper of Chesterfield, Ill.; and many nieces and nephews.

Marie Holland

Marie Holland, 87, of Friendship, died Saturday, Aug. 31, 2002, at Crockett County Nursing Home.
She was a homemaker and a member of Friendship United Methodist Church.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Friendship Funeral Home. Burial will be in Friendship Cemetery.

The family will receive visitors from 5-8 p.m. tonight at the funeral home.

Walter K. Olson Jr.

Walter K. Olson Jr., 75, of Dyersburg, died Aug. 31, 2002 at his residence.
He was a retired Illinois Baptist minister and electrician.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Sept. 21 at First Baptist Church in Newbern with the Rev. Danny Klutts officiating. His body has been donated to science.

Glenda Jean Norsworthy, 64, of Memphis, formerly of Dyersburg, died Saturday, Aug. 31, 2002 in Memphis.
She was secretary for Macon Road Church of Christ and a member of Forest Hill Church of Christ.

Services will be at noon Friday at Germantown Parkway Chapel of Memphis Funeral Home. Burial will be in Memory Hill Gardens in Memphis.

Earlene Parker Jones, 68, of Louisville, Ky., formerly of Halls, died Friday, August 30, 2002 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Ripley.
She was a nurse's aid.

Services will be at 4 p.m. today at Henning Grove Baptist Church in Ripley with the Rev. W.L. McCadney officiating. Burial will be in Henning Grove Cemetery. Currie's Funeral Home of Henning is in charge of arrangements.

She was a homemaker.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in the chapel of J.W. Curry & Son Funeral Home with Bro. Calvin Smith officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Dyersburg.

Mary Maude Algee Hearn, 78, of Tiptonville, died Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2002 at her residence.
She was retired owner of Lake County Motor Company/Chevrolet Dealership and accountant for Phoenix Gin Company, a life-long member of the First United Methodist Church in Tiptonville where she was choir director and organist for more than 50 years, playing her last service on Easter Day, 2002. She was a member of the church's Administrative Board and Council on Ministries, and a church Lay Leader. She has served as a Girl Scout leader and a Cub Scout den mother, past president and treasurer of Tiptonville Junior Women's club and past president of Reelfoot Lake Unit of the American Legion Auxiliary and was an active supporter of Tiptonville Main Street Association.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Tiptonville First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Ralph Gunter officiating. Burial will be in Tiptonville City Cemetery. Dyersburg Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

The family will receive visitors from 5-9 p.m. today at the church.

William Porter Young

William Porter Young, 79, of Friendship, died Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2002 at his residence.
He was a retired farmer and carpenter and a member of Elizabeth United Methodist Church.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Elizabeth United Methodist Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friendship Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

She was a homemaker and a member of Mount Tirzah Baptist Church.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the chapel of  Johnson Funeral Home with the Rev. Andy Brasfield and the Rev. Robert Emerson officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Newbern.

The family will receive visitors from 4-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

She was a retired telephone-company employee and a member of Tiptonville Church of Christ.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Tiptonville Church of Christ with Brother Don Reel officiating. Burial will be in Tiptonville City Cemetery. J.W. Curry & Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Willingham Memorial Baptist Church in Ridgely. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, September 8, 2002, at the Curry Funeral Home Ridgely Chapel with burial to follow in Newhaven Cemetery of Ridgely. Rev. Jimmy Goodman will officiate.

Francis L. Smith, 84, of Newbern died Friday, September 6, 2002, at Methodist Healthcare of Dyersburg.
He retired from the U.S. Air Force at a Lt. Col. after 25 years of service in the Intelligence Department. He was a member of the Newbern First United Methodist Çhurch, Newbern Rotary Club, the Newbern Planning Commission and Dyersburg Moose Lodge. He was a former member of the Dyersburg Country Club at the Farms and a former member of the Board of Aldermen for the City of Newbern where he served for several years. He also served on several committees for the City of Newbern.

A graveside service will be held at Fairview Cemetery in Newbern at 10 a.m. on Monday, September 9, 2002. Rev. Tommy Jowers and Bro. Kelly Lock will officiate.  Johnson Funeral Home of Newbern is in charge of arrangements.

Helene J. Hughes, 82, of Rushville, IN, died Thursday, September 5, 2002, at 11 p.m. at Rush Memorial Hospital in Rushville.
She has a daughter who lives in Dyersburg, Mrs. O. T. "TY" (Pamela J.) Sirmans.

Mrs. Hughes was a homemaker. She lived in Rushville since 1946 and, prior to that lived in Linden and Madison, WI. She was a 1938 graduate of Madison East High School in Madison, WI. She married John N. Hughes in 1946. He preceded her in death on March 2, 1992.

She was a member of the St. Paul United Methodist Çhurch in Rushville, Kappa Delta Phi sorority, Past President of the American Legion Women's Auxiliary, the Senior Citizens Center and the Women's Auxiliary of the Red Men's Group, Whapahani.

Moster and Cox Mortuary of Rushville is officiating. Visitation will be Sunday between 4 and 8 p.m. The funeral will be at the mortuary on Monday, September 9, followed by a burial ceremony at the East Hill Cemetery.

Danny Lynn Shelby

Danny Lynn Shelby, 52, of Newbern, died Sunday, Sept. 8, 2002 at his residence.
He was a truck driver for Coldiron Trucking Company and a U.S. Navy veteran.

Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in Church Grove Cemetery with Brother R.M. Palmer officiating.

The family will receive visitors from 6-9 p.m. Wednesday at  Johnson Funeral Home.

Dr. Lamar A. White

Dr. Lamar A. White, 80, of Friendship, died Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2002 at his residence.
He was a retired physician, a World War II Army veteran and a member of Friendship United Methodist Church. He served as doctor for Friendship for 48 years, served as alderman and mayor of Friendship, chairman of the Friendship School Board and Crockett County Medical examiner. He was a member of West Tennessee Medical Association, American Medical Association, Phi Chi Medical fraternity and the American Legion.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Friendship United Methodist Church with the Rev. Frank Gardner and the Rev. Raymond Boston officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.

The family will receive visitors from 4-9 p.m. today at Friendship Funeral Home.

Harry Clyde Allmon

Harry Clyde Allmon, 71, of Yorkville, died Monday, Sept. 9, 2002 at his residence.
He was a retired sheet metal worker for Flatt Heating and Cooling and a member of Bethel Baptist Church.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. today at Yorkville Cemetery with Brother Billy Criswell officiating.  Johnson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

He was an employee of the street department for the City of Dyersburg and a member of Northside Church of Christ.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Northside Church of Christ with Tim Henderson and Scott Owen officiating. Burial will be in Dyer County Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive visitors from 5-8 p.m. today at J.W. Curry & Son Funeral Home.

He was owner-operator of Thrasher's Lawn Service and a former member of the Tennessee National Guard.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in the chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home with the Rev. Calvin Smith officiating. Burial will be in Rehoboth Cemetery.
