LAUDERDALE COUNTY, TENNESSEE DEATH NOTICES FROM 2004

Tracy Turner, 34, formerly of Maynardville, passed away July 8 at her home in Atlanta, Survived by her fiancé, Leonard Cobb of Atlanta; mother and stepfather, Faye and Tom Hardin, of Loyston Rd. Maynardville; father and stepmother, Gene and Beverly Turner; sister, Michelle Lamon; aunt, Betty Campbell. Gentry-Griffey Chapel.

Kenneth Wesley Walker, 46, passed away at his home in Powell July 4. Member of Alice Bell Baptist Church. Survived by mother, Virginia Walker Ezell; stepfather, Ernest Ezell; siblings and spouses: Earl and Jackie Walker Jr., Jeri Lynn and Craig MacArthur. Rose Mortuary Broadway Chapel.

Arvil Luther Borin, 97, passed away June 8 at his home. Al owned and operated many successful businesses including Thrifty Rent-a-Car in Knoxville. He retired from Furrow Auction Company when he was 90 years old. Al brought joy to the lives of all that knew him, and his stories of the many adventures of his life will be greatly missed, as will he. His survivors include his wife of 30 years, Lizzie Lee Easter Borin; stepson and daughter-in-law, Sam and Ann Furrow; two grandchildren; great-grandson, John Thomas Tolsma. Malcolm H. “Mal” Brogan, 86, passed away June 8 at St. Mary’s. Member of Smithwood Baptist Church and member and former president of Fountain City Lions Club. Former owner of Mal Brogan Co. Veteran of WWII. Survivors include wife of 59 years, Louise Brogan; son and daughter-in-law, Dennis C. and Ann Brogan of Powell; son, Dr. Terry Brogan of Leeds, England; two grandchildren; sisters, Mackie Collins and Joann Weaver; brothers, Dvon and wife, Mary, Brogan, Willard and wife, Ajha, Brogan of Tazewell. Jessie Lynn LaFayette Caldwell, 19, of Maynardville, passed away June 4 at his home. He was of the Baptist faith and was employed by Blalock & Son Construction. Member of the Union County Rescue Squad. Survivors include father and stepmother, Jeff Caldwell and Pauline Ray; mother and stepfather, Susan and Tony Johnson; special parents, Mike Boles, Pam Collins and Junior and Tootsie Kiser; sister, Brittany Boles; sister and brother-in-law, Jessica and Don Starnes; stepbrothers, T.J., Bryan and Branden Johnson; nephew, Austin Starnes; grandmothers, Bonnie Caldwell, Elaine Johnson and Jo Ann Caldwell, all of Maynardville. Sanford Lee “Sandy” Clark, 66, passed away June 6 at home. He was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. Survivors include wife of 38 years, Clara Moorhead Clark; son and daughter-in-law, Sanford and Crissy Clark; daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Brad Hooks; brothers, Darryl and Betty Clark, Bobby and Grace Ann Clark, Eddie and Carol Clark; sisters, Christine DaValle, Sue and Louie Maniez of Halls. Robert E. “Bob” Cole passed away at home June 5. Member of Fountain City Presbyterian Church. Retired from TVA, where he was the chief architect of the Chattanooga office complex. Survivors include his wife, Dianne Johnson Cole; daughter and son-in-law, Andrea and Don Faulkner; sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Beverly, Toby and Machelle, Rob and Sarah, Casey and Amanda Cole; 11 grandchildren. Ines R. Cottrell, 81, passed away June 5. Member of Smithwood Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by husband of 55 years, Otey Cottrell. Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Keith and Marilyn Cottrell, Roy and Mary Leigh Cottrell; daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Alan McNeely; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild. Laura Harper, 87, of Fountain City, passed away June 6. Was a Jehovah’s Witness and attended Kingdom Hall of Halls. Survivors include daughter, Wanda Carol Hawkes; son, Michael Lynn Harper; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Webster. Mynatt Funeral Home.

Mardee C. Kelly, 82, passed away June 7 at St. Mary’s. She belonged to the Methodist Church in her former community in Virginia. She was preceded in death by husband, Thomas King Kelly; granddaughter, Caitlyn Cerny. Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Kim and Chuck Cerny, T.K. and Terry Barnett; three grandchildren. Trevor Wayne Loggains, 35, of Halls, passed away June 4. He will be missed by family and friends. Survivors include wife, Annette M. Hazel Shelton Sharp, 85, of Corryton, passed away June 5 at St. Mary’s. Faithful member and teacher at Atkins and Fairview Baptist churches. Zora Elizabeth Stoutt, 79, of Fountain City, died June 11 at St. Mary’s. Member of Smithwood Baptist Church. preceded in death by husband, David A. Stoutt. Survivors: nephew raised as a son, Mark Stoutt of Fountain City and wife, Kathy; children, Joshua and Nicholas Stoutt. Among her surviving brothers and sisters are Mae Ditmore and Lee A. Charlotte Elizabeth Reece Foster, 91, died May 26. Member of the Sundial Garden Club and women’s golf group at Holston Hills Country Club; volunteer at Ramsey House. preceded in death by husband, Arthur W. Harold E. Fowler, 79, passed away May 29. He was a very active member of Dutch Valley Church of God. For many years, Mr. Fowler and his late wife had served as foster parents for the Church of God Home for Children. He was a U.S. Navy veteran serving during World War II on the USS Mississippi and was a retired Plasti-Line fabricator. preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Margaret Brown Fowler. Linda Kidwell Hickman, 52, passed away May 16 at St. Mary’s Residential Hospice. Member Corryton Baptist Church. Employed by Knox County Schools for 20 years. Survivors: son and financee, Dustin and Kari Hickman; son, Daniel Hickman; parents, William and Susan Kidwell; granddaughter, Robi Hickman. Stevens Mortuary.

Ronald Lee “Ron” Klieman, 60, passed away at his home. He was a skilled carpenter, collector of knives, an avid fisherman and a teller of tall tales. He enjoyed music and gourmet cooking, and tying trout flies. He attended Second Presbyterian Church and served in the US Army 1964-1968, graduate of UT with a bachelor’s and master’s in business. Survived by his wife of 38 years, Charlotte Haldeman Klieman; sons and daughter-in-law Lee Edward and Hajnalka Klieman, David Granger Klieman; grandson, Joseph Lee Klieman; mother, Mildred Kalinowski. Pearl Ruth Lyons, 88, of Halls, passed away May 4 at St. Mary’s. A Baptist, she was retired from Lakeshore Mental Health Institute. She loved to play the piano and she played for several churches throughout Knox County and with the Heavy Duty Gospel Quartet. Survivors include children and spouses: Gary and Faye King, David Arlen and Darlene King, Donald R. and Sue King, Daniel E. and Mary Lyons; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren. Mittie Tucker Moore, 83, passed away May 29 at St. Mary’s Medical Center. preceded in death by husband of 56 years, Callaway Atlas “C.A.” Moore Jr. Member of Fountain City United Methodist Church, charter member of the Fountain City Study Club, former member of Fontinalis, member of the Three Twelve Club, Joy Club and the Adult Singles at Fountain City UMC, charter member of the Fountain City Sportsman’s Club and retired from Knox County Schools. Trula J. Moore passed away May 29 at her home. She was a longtime member of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, retired captain Jack Moore, KPD; sons, Michael Moore, Danny Moore and KCSO captain Roby Moore; grandchildren, Tonya Moore, Jack Moore and KCSO officer Chris Moore; great-grandson, Daniel A.
